Thorchain dex feature changes fast. The streaming feature of Thorchain said that trading fees is lower than CEX, but it is new feature. Make sure that Trust wallet support cheap fee THorchain feature like streaming. Otherwise, try to use other method to trade between BTC and altcoins to get low DEX trading fees.
Metamask, Thorwallet, Thorswap etc are all supporting BTC and altcoin dex trading. Many support Thorchain dex stream feature for low fees, some do not. Check features before doing trading.

I would say find the tiny market cap meme coin before twitter hype. Also use coinpaprika, which tend to track smaller market cap coins vs more common coingecko or coinmarketcap web site.

Thank you for your explanation. I have now read a bit about how Thorchain works. If I'm not wrong it's not 100% trustless but "trust-minimizing based on incentives", i.e. the "atomicity" of the swap is not ensured by an HTLC or similar contract but by incentives to the liquidity providers to play by the rules.
"100% trustless " feature is interesting topic to discuss among all different type of dex swap. Atomic Swap type of swap is for sure different from Thorchain (RUNE) type of swap. Thorchain DEX is a lot faster. It does rely on economic interest of liquidity node providers to ensure security. Thorchain has close to 100 node, weekly rotated (not randomly, but highest bidder in, lowest out). These nodes owners have economic interest not to steal funds because it provide bonding funds larger than they hold on mutli-sig wallet keys. This is like ETH style of staking miners who do not have interest to attack network for 51% attack. Correct: more like ETH POS stakers style of security where the staking bonds get slashed on wrong doing. Same slashing on thorchain nodes on its bonds on wrong doing too. Thorchain seems to be doing fine. but certainly on decentralization or "100% trustless" is not same as atomic swap type of DEX. In my opinion, 90+ nodes that have economic bonding interest not to steal funds, that should be qualified as "trustless" in DEX swap status. The node counts could be more, but it is not that shabby as of today. |

I think thorchain is not like blocknet. First, blockDX of blocknet is atomic swap based DEX. Blocknet service node is helping on swap, but it is still a pure atomic swap.
Blocknet service node charges a fee for its service, and serve also like electrum server on its light wallet called xlite.
Thorchain is not on atomic swap technology. It is more like a decentralized multi-sig wallet, it is on better technology indeed. For pure bitcoin swap trading on DEX, I think Thorchain is on another level of game and has huge liquidity on its pools like uniswap. Thorchain appears to be the winner here against atomic swap based tech.
I think atomic swap dex like AtomicDEX or BlockDX still has its niche, mainly on low gas fees smaller coins. But for main coins like BTC or ETH, thorchain DEX is standing out to be the likely winner here.

Here two relatively new POW of coins that taylored to home based small solo miners with special difficulty algorithm on top of traditional scrypt or sha256.

Actually Blocknet DX tech is sound, it is pure atomic swap as atomicdex is. The downside is that indeed, blocknet needs to run all the time (like electrum server) helping atomic swap. Also traders like bitcoin has to run full node too, which is not as great as atomicdex.
Technically, I am not sure why atomic swap tools vs atomic swap dex. The dex is tool already. If we just talk about dex, atomicdex and blockdx, and DCRDEX are three top atomic swap dex today.

Of course, there is a small chance that such an altcoin may increase in price several times. But everyone should understand that a chance is not a guarantee at all and it is quite possible that such an altcoin will show you a super dump instead of a pump. No guaranteed, for sure. but the fact is, a large population of DOGE hodler made money, to less degree litecoin too. I was long time mainly on proof of work UTXO, but now I am smaller hodler of ETH too along with bitcoin. Yes, you can buy native BTC on ThorChain, that's fine.
They use decentralized validators with collateral to transfer data between blockchains. This model is better than a simple centralized bridge, but still worse than a true atomic swap.
Decentralized validators need to be paid, when I tested ThorChain, the final commission of the system was around 2%, that's quite a lot.
Also a system with decentralized validators has an additional attack vector, especially when swapping amounts larger than the validators' collateral.
I do not want to argue between atomic swap dex vs thorchain style dex, I like both and use both. Yes indeed, thorchain has security concern, it is relatively new. It has newly launched streaming feature that cut down trading cost, I think thorchain trading cost is 0.1% to 0.3%, quite competitive to CEX. But for smaller trades, atomic swap based dex atomicDEX is better. AtomicDEX or any atomic swap based DEX has liquidity issue. This is big road block. No liquidity, no big traders coming. atomic swap DEX is only for micro trades, or small retail traders unfortunately, this is not likely to change soon. |

Thorchain can trade BTC DOGE LTC ETH native coins in large liqudity.
For smaller coins, atomicDEX is great on small trades on cheap fees, It support BNB and USDT too, all on atomic swap style in DEX.
The down side on atomicdex is poor liquidity. Trading $10 USD swap in atomicDEX between BNB/DOGE pair is perfect, low fees. but large volume is poor experience.
Thorchain is Uniswap style with native BTC LTC DOGE support. Recently snap in metamask support BTC LTC DOGE native coins, thorchain can swap BTC <-> ETH natively in metamask or in thorswap etc other more popular interfaces. Thorchain has a chance to be number 1 defi dex in the future surpassing uniswap. Uniswap can not swap BTC, thorchain can.

I always say that meme coins are shitcoins and not investment assets. I agree with you that meme coins are not coins worth keeping for a long time. One fact is that DOGE is first, the earliest meme and biggest market cap. The another fact is that DOGE actually is bitcoin clone, proof of work coin, a UTXO coin, not token. Meme coins are fine. They are usually started as casually joke coin, fun and like virtual world entertainment vs real world in Macau or Las Vegas. They are all for similar stuff.
But do not bet your house on them. Control your risk. Know your limit, this is important.
I myself am only focused on UTXO meme coins such as dogecoin (scrypt mining), and Cheetahcoin (SHA256 mining for home solo miners). But certainly there are many meme coins there today.

I don't really understand what's so fun about memecoins. Just because it's named after a meme it makes buying it more fun than buying Bitcoin or something else? It's just pure gambling because the only thing that memecoins can have is hype. With the spread and creation of meme coins everyday, it's no longer fun as people treated it as an actual investment and practically hoping for it to make them rich as quick as possible. It's no fun anymore. I remember the days where I am receiving DOGE as a tip by being active on an exchange public chat. I'm happy with the small gesture of receiving some kind of token from random persons I don't really know. Today, it's hardly to experience that since everyone thinks that these memecoins will have a value and make them rich LOL. Yes or no to some degree. I have noticed meme content of dogecoin changed over the years. In the early days, yes, tip was big part of doge, but doge got hacked on tip wallet as I recalled years ago. Today, doge is mainly Elon's meme coin and also an important liquidity coin because many small exchanges still have doge trading pairs for many other smaller crypto coins. Each meme coin has different nature of fun part. I am now also into Cheetahcoin, which is mainly a crypto mining fun on sha256. I get lots of fun when I see my USB gekko devices get CHTA coins everyday, some times millions of jack pot mining reward in one day once in a week or 2. That is lots of mining fun on that. Meme coin violent nature of trading price speculation of course is unavoidable nature of this kind of coins. but certainly there are funs on mining, trading, payment, wallet etc pierce of crypto experience where meme coin holders do not have to pay a lot for principal, nor to pay a lot for fees for those kind of whole level crypto experience. |

Memecoins are great speculation tool, everybody love them. But be careful of risk,
Here is my opinion, not investment advice. It worked well for me in the past.
First, stick with solid coins, in the past it means bitcoin, litecoin, ethereum, plus a small portion of meme coins, for me, it means dogecoin and cheetahcoin.
How large meme coins should be of total portfolio. It depends on personal risk tolerance. For my take, probably no more than 20% of total portion in meme coins. Meme coins up and down tend to be very violent, make sure buy low and sell high too on meme coins to maximize profit and minimize risk.
