Arsenal haven't won a title in the Premier League for too long and I'm not sure if they still remember that. Not only Arsenal, Manchester United is also the same, although I admit that these two teams both fight to win the title in different seasons. So far only Manchester City are always more likely to win the title, they have held the title three times in a row and will probably defend it again this season.

Yeah City have always been the title favourites but over the years other teams like Arsenal have also emerged as a tough contender for the title. United still lack that edge yet and Spurs also are growing that form so I think after a few years we will be watching more competititve PL. United will take time to be a title contender again and it is doubtful if they will be soon. It all depends on how clubs develops and manages their squad for the future and how they build their atmosphere inside the club. Right now what Arsenal is doing is the right way to prepare a squad for a good future.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are other teams that can compete with Manchester City for the first place in the English league, but Manchester City is so solid and such a favorite that these teams need to do better every week without making mistakes if they want to compete with Manchester City. Arteta wants something that did not happen last year this season.

Arsenal, which has not been a champion for a long time, is fighting head to head with City again this season. Currently, Arsenal is first in the league with a one point difference.

Well they were building the squad and actually last season their target wasn't to win but to be in top 4 but still they did very good if you ask me in last season. I am glad that they managed to qualify for CL and I am happy with the results from last season. I think this season is a new challenge dealing with CL and PL games simultaneously. So far they are doing good job in CL and in PL also they are going strong but I feel that they have the calibre to go more strong. If they perform with more consistency I think they will be able to grow their difference on the table and this will be a huge advantage near the season end.

Maybe players from their academy have not been able to perform with the senior team then if you maybe Man United will call to play but so far they only focus on buying players because this is the desire of Erik Ten Hag who demands a lot of young players at high prices but not according to his expectations, maybe need a long adaptation?

What about Pellistri? He is a young player with good potential and yet have been lacking lot of playing minutes. Manager usually find it hard to give them a chance and I feel that is where they are wrong. Players like these strive in big matches and giving them chance to play in starting lineup is the key to unlock the potential. I feel that it needs to change a bit and manager should try giving chances to young players more often.

Reasons why home game can be so influential, I till believe Manchester united will score another goal and will win this match, what a goal by Bruno Fernandes amazing. The issue of Onana is very big and different from other keepers and it seems he is improving, if care is not taken Manchester united will score another goal in addition to the three goals.

3-3 is the final scoreline and another draw by United in CL group match. They haven't been in form lately and have been losing lot of CL and PL matches. I feel that time is slowly coming on for ten Haag to get sacked. Now with this loss they stand at bottom of the table and lucky for them that except for Bayern other two teams also are at near or same no. of points. Although Copenhagen and Bayern match haven't yet happened but it's likely gonna go Bayern's way. So I think United still have chance to advance to the next stage and if they post a win with good margin.

Leverkusen rose since the middle of last season when Xabi Alonso arrived as Leverkusen team coach in the middle of last season and Xabi Alonso made quite significant changes to make Leverkusen's performance improve.
And this season everything starts from the beginning and Leverkusen is really getting stronger, so that up to now they are unbeaten, only drawing once against Bayern Munich and the rest they always win.

Leverkusen have been remarkable this season as they performing very consistenly in Bundesliga and if things goes on like this then they are set to be in top 2-3 easily. Their full backs Grimaldo and Frimpong have been contributing a lot with goals and assists and they are defending well also. Next up in Bundesliga is Dortmund for them who are another contender for title race so it will be interesting to see how they play against them.

I'm predicting Arsenal to win this match but I don't know the exert number of goals, I can't tell if Arsenal will score beyond 3, they're not improving in the goal aspect, Arsenal have every chance to win the match, the reason why they loss was as a result of poor starting, the key players did'nt start the match but second half, although the Arsenal players didn't put a lot of effort in that match. Let's watch out what Lens have to offer in the Emirate stadium.

Arsenal should easily win this for sure. They have been in good form and Lens are not a tough competitor in front of them. Arsenal should easily be able to find 1-2 goals in the starting first half and should be able to keep pressure on Lens. It's Arsenal's home ground so it's tough for any opponents there so a big boost of Arsenal in this fixture. I expect Arsenal to win by 2-3 goals margin or could be more also.

The poor performance from the start of the season disappointed Man Utd fans. They have brought in several new players but there has been no significant improvement. Currently I read, Man United is considering buying Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz. But Leverkusen doesn't seem willing to sell him this season. This is because he is a player who has a strong role and brings Leverkusen to the top. It is reported that Leverkusen is asking for more than €120 million for Wirtz's transfer.

It's gonna be very costly for United if they are going for Wirtz. Wirtz have lot of years left with Leverkusen so it is obvious that Leverkusen won't allow Wirtz to leave so easily. They will definitely be targetting to get as much out of Wirtz' sale and Wirtz with his potential should be at the market value of 100m Euro + easily.

Let's hope they won't be giving a surprise package by Newcastle like they were given in the opening leg.

It's a home game for PSG so I find Newcastle chances of winning very low. Secondly, Newcastle haven't been in form lately but it still could be possible that Newcastle will try hard here given the situation they are in. No one likes the situation where you have to depend on other fixtures to get qualified or advance to next stage so I hope Newcastle makes the next round more exciting by winning against PSG despite the odds.

We can't say that yet. Harry Kane is a good palter and even as a 31-year-old player he had good performance in Bayern Munich and any team he played for them. I think Harry Kane can even have the chance to play in older age while being in the good form just like what Ronaldo is doing while is old.
But still, Harry Kane can't be a long-term investment for Bayern Munich.

I think Bayern can find his use still for 3-4 more years in my opinion. He is a top striker and Bayern have invested a lot in order to get him. Naturally they will use him for a long term and they certainly have bought enough time with this also for finding a young striker filled in with good potential. I think in 2-3 years Bayern will start looking for next striker.

Arsenal did try their luck and managed to become top of the standings, but I agree that they won't be first until the end of the season... Last season they had a 100% opportunity to win but god only knows why they couldn't do it... This season it seems to me that history will quickly repeat itself...

Some mistakes in the end and bad consistency is what it takes to lose the pole position in title race. Watching Arsenal matches , I still feel that they are lacking confidence like the way they used to have in the beginning of last season. Right now they are just clear with City with 1 points and I think if they maintain the consistency they can put lot of pressure on others behind especially City. All they have to do is not lose points and they will find enough gap near the end of the season but its very hard. Let's see how Arsenal take advantage of this pole position and till when.

Today's match is not decisive for every team in Group F because AC Milan is able to win at home against Borussia Dortmund. This will make the competition even fiercer because the results of a match like that will change each of their positions in the standings table so that the determination will occur in the last match to see who will qualify for the next round. Because Newcastle will also try harder today to win at PSG's home ground.

I would say AC Milan has the chances to win but it is not that easy at all. Out of these two clubs AC Milan are on the worse end than Dortmund as they have long list of injuries and Pioli don't have much options at all. Dortmund also have some players that are doubtful but I think they still have most good players left to play.

Quote
These two matches will be very interesting today because all teams really want to win in this match so all teams will do their best to win and get a point advantage so they can ensure they qualify for the next round in the last match. And I think every team is so aware of this now that they won't make any mistakes that could benefit their opponents.

Yeah very important for all the clubs in that group and it is set to be very exciting matches as all four are level on terms of firepower. For Newcastle it is a must win match and they are up against french giant PSG so it is not easy at all also. They had won the first fixture against them but PSG are a tough cookie and it is not easy to break PSG back to back in head to head matches.

More and more rumors for a comeback of Conte as coach of Juventus in the next year.

An interesting news and I feel that Conte would really find it comfortable managing Juventus. Lots of young lads filled in with crazy potential and Conte with his tactics and really guide the Italian giant to the better form.

Sancho could also arrive in Turin in January on loan.

A very good deal for Juventus as Sancho is really a good winger and a good team player. I would say Juventus can really find his use for remainder of the season. It will be great if they add a buy clause and buy the player later but are Juventus ready to make this permanent later on.

Despite Emery's talent, I still didn't expect Aston Villa to rise so high, after all, they have fewer opportunities than City, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and even Newcastle.
This season is special, I've witnessed a whole lot of improvement from mediocre teams as they keep pushing for vital results this season. Aston Villa upgrade in the league have made them to become one of the best competitive average team, mere watching them and I've seen quite alot of things have change about the club, their style and courage from the players. Aston Villa are 4th position on the league table this season. Unai Emery have done quite a good job to bring out the fire in the Villans this season. They have thrashed competitive opponents and still counting.

Yeah they have improved a lot. Some good signings were made and they are on a good momentum right now. Actually they had good players from beginning but they were just lacking in some tactics and some areas but it seems that they are doing lot better than last season. Aston Villa can easily finish in top 5-6 if they go on like this and if they are lucky then they might be able to get into top 4 easily also.

[...]

I would have never expected Havertz to save the team honestly.  Grin  Because he has been quite inadequate in effort since he came here. It has been a long time since he scored his first goal at Arsenal as well. But he really became the savior here by scoring in the 89th minute.

Havertz is a versatile player and Arteta finds lot of use in Havertz. He is not inadequate in my opinion as he tries a lot but hasn't been in able to find himself in scoresheet and others judge the performance based on that which I feel is bit wrong. He really can be useful like he did in last match. He can be a secret weapon in big games for Arsenal. Same goes for Trossard also and Martinelli too. They all can score goals when other players are finding hard to get an opening.

Arsenal comes back to top of the table after securing a win over Brentford with 1-0 scoreline. Not a convincing one but at the end the 3 points is what counts eventually. What made it perfect is that draw between Liverpool and City which made both clubs drop the points and gave Arsenal chance to lead the table. Still there are lot of rounds to be played and I hope that Arsenal maintains the consistency from here on and not make further mistakes in easy matches further.

You're right. Roma is very lucky to sign a top striker like Lukaku. He is actually a sharp striker but he needs a motivation and support to play with his best. It is something he can't get in Chelsea. That's why he got difficulty to play with his best in Chelsea. Besides in Chelsea, he also ever played in Inter Milan in the previous season. He played quite well in Inter Milan, sadly Inter Milan doesn't want to sign him permanently. Now, he is a part of AS Roma squad, I hope he can be a player of AS Roma permanently. I don't expect he returns to Chelsea.

I think in the match against Udinese, Lukaku will contribute well again. He must do his best to score goals in the next match. So, AS Roma can be in the top 5 of Serie A standings. It is very possible that AS Roma can finish in the UCL zone this season. AC Milan and Napoli look very unstable, they are often defeated by small teams.

I am so sorry my friend, but I have to contradict you, I dont agree with what you are saying at all.
Roma have had no luck, Roma have Jose Mourinho who is a great strategist, even if he has a bad temper he knows how to do his job very well: this proves it.
Lukaku come because Jose call him.

I also feel the same way as Lukaku earlier had lot of criticism but Mourinho gave him role where he is performing the way he is right now. It is no luck but only the trust of manager on player and player following manager's instructions. The frustrating part for Mourinho is that board is not trying enough to get the transfer targets that Mourinho is seeking but glad to see there was a possible solution of loan for bringing in Lukaku but it is only for one season. It will be great if this move could be made permanent but it will be also interesting to see if Chelsea are ready to allow Lukaku to move on permanent and if yes then for how much.

Ten Hag must win the dressing room because everything starts from there. Some of Manchester United's senior players look selfish in the game and actually this should be resolved rather than bringing in lots of new players. I agree that there are certainly some players who come and go, but improving the performance of existing players must be the focus at this time.

A very good point. Lot of things start from dressing room and it sometimes trying to discipline extremely might become bad as well and that is what I feel is going on at United. For a squad to play at top form they need to have full confidence in the coach and coach in turn also should try to listen to players as well. There is lot of players who are feeling discontent right now and ten Haag should do something as soon as possible to fix that.
78  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: November 23, 2023, 07:25:35 PM
The biggest advantage that Girona has is that they have less pressure than the other teams competing for the La Liga title. In regards to the squad and how Girona is able to get away with injuries and other problems, I can't really judge that as I don't know that club very well, but I suppose that Girona would have more problems dealing with injuries than Real Madrid or Barcelona. Though it makes more fun to see that finally there is one club who was not expected to send their greetings to the rest of the league from the top after 13 games have been played. The next two games are against Bilbao and Valencia and if they play as strong as they did before the break, this will be the next six points to their books.

It just has been 13 matches and there are still lot of matches to determine the top 4 and seriously lot of things can change in remaining games. They have less pressure because they have less expectations but eitherway they are really doing a great job and even if something happens I think they should be able to manage to make it to top 10 by the season end and in my opinion that will be an objective achieved for the season. Being top 4 is also good but that will elevate the fans expectations and that can be good and bad as well later on.

It's up to how the media creates rumors about Haaland, what is clear is that Haaland still has many seasons on his contract that he probably doesn't need to worry about in the near future. The thing that Manchester City needs to think about with Haaland is that his release clause is considered low and could be activated by other interested teams, so I think that's what makes Manchester City look worried.

Haaland has had a great season in the Premier League so far with Manchester City, so I think he's just eager to enjoy it first. There is a possibility of him moving to another team if Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City, but I'm sure that won't happen any time soon.

In that case yes then City need to think about removing the release clause and convince Haaland to sign it. Anyway I don't feel any amount of discontent in Haaland's mind so I don't think he is gonna ditch City anyway. Still yeah City might be worried as if someone triggers the release clause and somehow Haaland also agrees to that then they will loose a world class striker. But it hasn't been too long since he signed up so I think there is still time for City to think about that.

Reportedly, Manchester City is persuading Erling Haaland to sign a new contract. But this has not yet reached a consensus and it will probably take quite a long time for Erling Haaland to agree. I think this is all because of rumors that Erling Haaland was linked with Real Madrid a few weeks ago and I think what Manchester City is currently doing is a form of protection for this great player.

Of course Manchester City will try to anticipate pressure from outside and again their opponent is Real Madrid and we know that all players dream of playing for the best club in the world, including Erling Haaland. Is this an emergency step that Manchester City is trying to take so that its striker can stay longer at the Etihad Stadium? Roll Eyes

Well that's a new one and I haven't heard yet from any other strong sources so still could be a rumour coming out of thin air. Doesn't makes sense to be honest to persuade when his contract was done just a year ago. Also he still has lot years left on his contract about like 4 years more and City should right now relaxed instead of getting worried over interest on Haaland from other clubs. Also he doesn't strikes me as a type of guy to worry about money and he is still young and is more focused on his game rather than getting worried about money and all. I would choose to believe it if comes out from strong multiple sources.
