61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Google looking for Software Dogengineer on: April 01, 2014, 04:17:46 PM
April fools day will soon be known as April trolls day.  They all came out in full force online today.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: China Bitcoin Ban - Nationwide protest April 14th - Get involved on: April 01, 2014, 04:12:48 PM
The Chinese government is no joke.  Im a fan of the idea and hope it works out but be careful, sounds like some risky business.
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Africa - promised land of Bitcoin? on: April 01, 2014, 04:11:03 PM
Micropayments and microloans have arguably their biggest impact in Africa.  Any countries that deal with outrageous remittance fees can be greatly helped by bitcoin, lots of African countries would fit this profile, especially as internet and smart phones continue to become more available there.
64  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CAVirtex is a joke right now.... on: April 01, 2014, 04:07:39 PM
Extreme low-balling in both BTC and LTC prices. The CDN dollar is only worth 90% of the US dollar yet prices across the board for BTC/CDN and LTC/CDN are lower than BTC-e and Bitstamp. I hope none of my fellow Canadians are being duped to sell at these prices (they shouldn't be selling now anyways)....

On the bright side, there could be some serious arbitrage to be done in the right hands...

Low prices is a joke?  Why not load up on bitcoin at these depressed levels then?  Is there an issue with withdrawing from the site?

Why would this be phishing? The URLs its pointing to is straight on the Coinbase site, over HTTPS too.

https://coinbase.com/transactions/533aa310101a7b619b0001a5

How did they sign emails to be as if they were sent from coinbase too?

The only reason this would be actually dangerous is if the coinbase servers themselves were hacked and were storing passwords...

You can request bitcoin from any email address in the world through coinbase.  If the email address input matches that of a coinbase user you can see their full name associated with that Coinbase account.  This is not good.  Someone could very easily scrape full names/email data/ coinbase account data using this method.
66  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: April 01, 2014, 03:54:38 PM
if anybody has any tips for the best way for me to get my krill up I'd love to hear about it.

Cash games are the fastest way to earn krill, especially if you can play a good number of tables simultaneously.  The more hands you play the more Krill you will earn, so naturally heads up will generate the most krill, followed by 6 max, and then 9 max.  The krill adds up pretty slowly if you are playing tournaments with the small buyins available on the site.
67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where and what did you just buy with your Bitcoins? on: April 01, 2014, 03:49:40 PM
Have never actually purchased a physical good with bitcoin, although have used it quite often to play poker on SealsWithClubs since the US shut down online poker in the states.  It functions amazingly in terms of depositing/ withdrawing quickly and easily.  Have also used it for some sports betting.

Coinbase seems to feel it's a "feature".   Roll Eyes

This "feature" is going to cause some serious concerns quickly if it isn't removed.  Just came across this on Twitter today (partial list of Coinbase users and email addresses) http://pastebin.com/RzWipJFb
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoins Purpose? Or have we Forgotten.. on: April 01, 2014, 03:43:40 PM
Bitcoin is supposed to be something more than an investment.  Actually it wasn't designed to be a speculative tool at all, naturally when people think there is money to be made though it became that.  The IRS has put a serious damper on bitcoin functioning as a currency in the future, at least in the US, which is what bitcoin was originally designed to be.

71  Economy / Economics / Re: Why did BTC drop by $75 in the past week on: April 01, 2014, 03:25:26 PM
Because the news has been horrible the past few months, the IRS just made using bitcoins a fiasco, and adoption momentum seems to have slowed.

this isn't an April fools joke.  They had been warned about a security vulnerability multiple times by the same guy and refused to act... http://blog.shubh.am/full-disclosure-coinbase-security/

75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin taking over the big 5 on: March 31, 2014, 10:34:07 PM
Was watching a video on the world bitcoin network (great yt channel)...
And he said bitcoin has potential to take over 5 distinct markets,
All of which are trillion dollar markets.

Gold
Credit cards
Micro payments
Banking
Remittances

Thoughts?

Remittances and micropayments perhaps.  Gold is gold, its not going anywhere.  Banking and credit cards are also going nowhere so long as people still need/ use credit.

Congratulations on your liberation from empire-scrip slavery!

Hold onto it for at least 3 years, no matter what anyone tells you.

I did, and now I will never be burdened by work again. I'll never have to face the horror of wage-slavery again. I used to work for $10 / hour! Unbelievable! Insane!

https://medium.com/what-i-learned-today/1a812f8fa7cd

hope you sold a lot of that position or you're gonna be "burdened" again soon enough
