That's not how this works, biggest chain IS the official chain.

1GH for all effective purposes owns Maxcoin.

This chain is terminal unless the devs do something soon.

Oh I know how it works but that doesn't change what I think should happen. Wink
65  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: February 25, 2014, 04:56:07 AM
If true 1gh should be considered the degenerate chain. They and the people that continue to mine there should suffer the consequences of their hubris.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 20, 2014, 05:47:36 PM
The coin is only two weeks old. It was massively hyped from famous people being involved which made it overpriced right out of the gate. It's still overpriced in fact and is still the most profitable alt coin which is why there is so much dumping. None of this has anything to do with whether or not it survives long term (which is obviously unknown but it's too early to call it).
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 19, 2014, 11:18:46 PM
Exactly. The other configuration (parallel to the mainboard) has proven to be much less effective (at least in my case... And in my case he he ;-) )

I probably should have mentioned that along with the fan blowing on the top of the cards, I have a 120mm high pressure fan blowing air out of the front of the case. I believe that makes the difference. Tons of heat comes off the rear of the cards and it gets pulled out by that other fan.

Yeah, I don't know. You need a bigger fan though. 120mm or 140mm at least and preferably one of the super thick high pressure units. You can run these relatively slow and they still move a massive amount of air.

Try putting a fan (at least 12cm) right at r290(x) side (near the card fan, 90 degrees to the mainboard), blowing in the card direction. Helped me reducing the noise greatly (it also reduced power consumption, the r290 fan sucks a lot of electricity when turning fast).

Not enough room to do that on my rig.  It's not on a tabletop, rather in a desktop tower case.  The 290X is on the first (physically, the upper) pci-e slot and the 260X sits below it on the second pci-e slot.  Out from the end of the 290X, the hard disk carrier occupies the rest of the space to the front of the case.

I point a fan at the side of the tower case. So the fan is parallel with the motherboard blowing fresh air at the top of the cards and their fans suck that in.  I think that might be what he meant, putting an extra fan blowing in to the existing card's fan doesn't make any sense.

Updated smoothly! Thanks for the heads up!

1gh could cause a seriously nasty fork... It's totally irresponsible. Are the max devs making money from that site or what? Why don't they contact them
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 14, 2014, 10:12:15 AM
If Max really wants this thing to rocket he should work on getting MAX/fiat exchanges going. That allows normal people (non-miners) to come in and buy it without having to go through the complications of converting cash to BTC to MAX.

FFS I was literally about to buy loads of coin from bittylicious below market but I didn't have a muthafuckin functioning wallet, GREAT.

Be happy, you were saved.

I am running cudaminer 2014-02-09 (beta) and i am seeing very slow hash rate

card model GeForce GTS 240

Current settings

cudaminer -l K600x16 -a keccak -H 1 -i 1 -C 1 -o stratum+tcp://xxx -u x -p x

You can't use a "K" kernel on that card. Use the "F" kernel.  Like "-l F1024x16" or whatever will fit without running out of memory.

wow, difficultly dropped by half.  hash rate is not that much lower so, hmm, what happened...  Undecided

Is anyone else getting very high CPU load when GPU mining?

In Linux, yes. The AMD drivers cause an irq storm and it is not something I have been able to solve.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: February 11, 2014, 07:34:39 AM
The price can go down to 0.00035 or so before it becomes uninteresting to mine-dumpers.

Guys, you can still belive in solo!

[/tt]So: Solo block on single 270X working 5h :-P

Anybody can get lucky once. Wink  Now get another block in 5h... At 50000 difficultly you should average one block every 11 days. Or possibly every 5.5 days, the traditional calculations seem off by a factor of 2 compared to real life, who knows.

(although I do admit I got lucky a couple times too when my hash rate was only like 20m)... over time not so lucky though  Undecided
