Nice to see the market develop like this - I was hoping to catch some FairCoin at 1600ish but we're already over 2K-Satoshi again The volume is a nice start as well

Thanks guys for pointing it out. I'll have a look at it by tomorrow.
@groggin, what skill level are you at, could build a binary from github?
regs Thomas
Maybe I should make it my personal quest to make the thing buildable in Docker, then everyone can build it w/o any OS dependencies

hello fellows, heartfelt congratulations on the successful recovery campaign, and getting the coin listed again.
i seem to have lost the keys to my recovery address. apparently, this is the case: the wallet seems to be corrupted, the qt will start and run, and shows the correct balance, but when i go to the recieve tab, there is only one unlabeled address! (i think i had 3 or 4, all labeled) i ran -checkwallet and -repairwallet, no results, but when i ran -salvagewallet i get this error msg: Cannot initialize keypool then the client just quits.
also i managed to dig up atleast a half a dozen backups, but they are all too old (so i have the orig and a copy)
any help guys?
Unless you have an encrypted working backup of your wallet, this might become difficult.. There's was a old bug that looks like your problem in the bitcoin wallet: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/2480, fix https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/2566Looking at the FairCoin wallet, it doesn't seem that this has been patched yet. For example: FairCoin if (fFirstRun) { // Create new keyUser and set as default key RandAddSeedPerfmon();
CPubKey newDefaultKey; if (!pwalletMain->GetKeyFromPool(newDefaultKey, false)) strErrors << _("Cannot initialize keypool") << "\n"; pwalletMain->SetDefaultKey(newDefaultKey); if (!pwalletMain->SetAddressBookName(pwalletMain->vchDefaultKey.GetID(), "")) strErrors << _("Cannot write default address") << "\n"; }
BitCoin if (fFirstRun) { // Create new keyUser and set as default key RandAddSeedPerfmon();
CPubKey newDefaultKey; if (pwalletMain->GetKeyFromPool(newDefaultKey, false)) { pwalletMain->SetDefaultKey(newDefaultKey); if (!pwalletMain->SetAddressBookName(pwalletMain->vchDefaultKey.GetID(), "")) strErrors << _("Cannot write default address") << "\n"; } }
@Thomas, you're more into the codebase then I am, can you have a look? https://github.com/sipa/bitcoin/commit/360cfe142c552ac5c4d904a1e970390188151ca8

I don't know if it is Coinmarketcap or Bittrex but i don't think the data is reading properly.
There is loads of >? where the chang/24hr is.
It is Bittrex, as 0.4btc was traded there in the first day we got the market open and no signs of it @coinmarketcap. CoinMarketcap doesn't recognize the pair yet (see http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/faircoin/#markets). So only the volume from Alcurex is taken into account. I've request through both the request form and Twitter if they can add the pair. Anyhow, it's good to see some volume again. And actually people offering some coins (there's about 122K FAIR in the market now). Both people who want in or out have a chance now to take action. Oh and last but not least, FAIR is available again on my favorite tool; Cryptrader https://cryptrader.com/charts/bittrex/fair/btc

YES, there we go! I always felt that 0.00019990BTC is a good market price to start I wouldn't mind going up from there What I noticed is that during deposit my FairCoin address was the same as the one I used back when FairCoin was still on Bittrex. So they have really dusted off their old wallet...
|
|
|
Are they giving a shit about this @Bittrex? Looks like they can't be bothered to help.
They are US based - the timezone difference doesn't help with this :S It's quite silent in the IRC channel as well...

let's see the ask price! great!!! let's the storm begin! - As long as FAC isn't renamed to FAIR, it probably won't show on CoinMarketCap either.. So the volume won't be visible.. http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/faircoin/#markets- Also we're not on the new markets list. - No spotlight either. When will the promotion start? This is a bit of a bummer that they haven't fixed it yet - it feels just like they re-enabled the old market again and that's it :S

Market is open on Bittrex But under FAC
Is it safe to send the coins?
I'd recommend waiting until this issue has been resolved.

Nice that we're there, but FAC is the wrong currency symbol. This should be FAIR. So everyone, hold your horses until this is fixed Yes, I urge everybody: do NOT deposit any FAIR until this is fixed! They received the answers to the questionary two times with FAIR symbol, its pitty, this few attention... Hi guys, just to let you know I opened an ticket at bittrex to ask them to change from FAC to FAIR! regs Thomas That makes two of us!

If I remember correctly (those are dark memories..), at that point there was a backwards fork, completely invalidating the transactions on that exchange. With that in mind, you shouldn't be able to see that on the current blockchain - since in that future, it never happened It could be however that some coins are still in the wallets of the exchange - if they even have that wallet still on file. There are some addresses close to that period that didn't have any transactions or haven't minted since that time. Three of them only have 1 transaction. It might be interesting chatting with them - not sure how they'll respond though I believe that these hard fork coins disappeared from the wallets (by standard block chain reorganization mechanisms) but not from the database from the exchange(s), thus the difference: Mintpal wallet: 14946903.112935999408 FAIR Mintpal database: 21787698.41457512 FAIR No way Ryan took them: there are simply no such transactions that would debit such an amount. So, I suspect it was either a bug in the exchange software or they just didn't resolve the issue intentionally or unintentionally... If I were right, Mintpal would have increased the money supply of FairCoin by 6840795,301639121. These coins were traded, but did never every exist. My personal opinion is that there is nothing more to recover, because we can not recover what has never existed. These are 'ghost coins'. regs Thomas This was an event even before the Mintpal mayhem - not talking about Ryan here:) This occured on NXT-e with a probable fake fork of FairCoin. So their database + wallet got totally mixed up. My assumption is that they left FairCoin for dead after that, eventhough they still may have a FairCoin wallet.dat somewhere - or not.. edit, or this: - April 7 ntx-e.com close withdrawals, they claim that destroyed their faircoin wallet and there are not more information. How they really solve their problem is yet an enigma

It works - except that we're on the low volume category. But that's about to change soon enough

You can. alcurEX is registered in coimarketcap so they can ticker FAIR volume and price from alcurEX market using our API. Also I'm happy to informing we are bought all FAIRs back what was "loss" with our locked wallet. So "smartaction" you can start offer your coins in market or move it if want to. Thank you for holding it in alcurEX like loan. Thank you also for sellers. halibit alcurEX https://alcurex.org/index.php/crypto/FAIR_BTCThnx for the info. I've requested Coinmarketcap to update their data regarding FairCoin and make it visible again.. The current marketcap should be anywhere between 500 BTC and 1250 BTC given the current market prices of 1000 satoshi low and 2500+ satoshi high. I have bought at 2000 in altcurex, and put there, new buy orders. if we are going to coinmarketcap again, lets to show a fair value and volume! According to Coinmarketcap it should have some trades and then it'll be visible: Let's wait it out a little (& do some trading) and see what happens. The coin meta-data is available at: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/faircoin/
