61  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: VX-1 Miner Group Buy - Free 1 TH/s Miner Giveaway on: February 07, 2014, 05:11:51 PM
Free shipping worldwide or US only?

Sorry for the delay S4VV4S, i wanted to e-mail them and make sure before i answered your question. It WILL be free world wide shipping for the group buy

What will the sound level of this device be?
Suitable for home usage (like an Antminer S1) or will it be a jetfighter engine like those Avalon2 200Ghs machines?

Jeffrey, the reply i received is below in direct quote from Larry at VX Miners, i hope that is what you were asking, if i missed something in translation dont be afraid to let me know, it only takes me 5 minutes to send them an e-mail, and normally less than 24hrs to hear back.

" We use the ultra quiet 120mm Corsair fans which make next to no noise, although i do not want to tell you they are totally silent as the fan in the PUS does make a little bit of noise, but its not near as loud as the units from china."

That's cool, I understand but now it is almost required with btc for anyone that's not established so I will have to pass. Thanks

Totally understandable, Hopefully, after this one i will be a little more "established"

in for 1 or 2 if escrow available and hit date

lithod02,

I dont think there is a way for me to do escrow in this situation. I am not the one making the machines and in order to get the free shipping and a free miner to raffle off i have to pay them for the 50 machines.  Although i have a good chunk of bitcoin, i do not have enough to float 50 machines on escrow. I am not collecting any funds until we have hit the 50 units required for the group buy to work which could be a day, or a week from now, or maybe more, who knows. If you would like to get in on it then just give me a number of machines you would want and i will mark you down for them, If at the time we hit 50 and i start taking payments you do not feel comfortable with it then just let me know and i am sure i can find someone else to buy what you backed out of.

If it would make you guys more comfortable i could see if there is a way i could work something out with the guys making these to get a separate address from their normal payment address just for this group buy so you can pay them directly and i myself never have to hold your bitcoin.

Piqued my interest.  If true and the timeline's true, I'd be interested in one.  Since they're using Bitfury chips, one obvious question would be whether or not they already have the chips in hand so there won't be delays relating to acquiring that many.

Thanks for the interest, i will mark you down for one.

To answer your question, they had to order the reels just like every body else, but they are already paid for and on order and will be shipping any day now just like everyone elses Bitfurys. The reason they are only able to make 200 of them is because that is all the bitfury chip reels they could buy.

The did manage to get their hands on at least 800 chips from somewhere for their 2 prototypes, i never thought to ask from where, but i know they have them because they have a picture of a mining unit running on what looks like multi-miner on their website.

Here is my analysis:

At this rate, delivery by April 1st is the cutoff point on profitability or not, assuming 1 TH and average diff increase of 25% and steady BTC price.

Factor any risks on top of this to judge the investment potential.

I could not agree with you more. I spoke at great length with these guys about this as that was one of my major concerns. They were very confident that they would make shipping by the week of March 10th. They said that the company making their PCB's and stuff have already run the boards and all they are waiting on is the Bitfury chips. From the way i understand it, the only thing that will make them miss their deadline is if Bitfury chips ship later than anticipated which given their track record i dont think will be a problem. But dont quote me on that, its just my opinion.
66  Bitcoin / Group buys / [ CLOSED ] VX-1 Miner Group Buy - Free 1 TH/s Miner Giveaway on: February 07, 2014, 03:02:37 AM
This thread is to gauge interest in a group buy for the VX Miners VX-1 Miner. I WILL NOT BE COLLECTING ANY FUNDS until i see if we can fill all 50 slots in the group buy, at which time i will make an announcement that all 50 slots were filled and payment will be due within 72 hours.

The miner specs can be found here: http://www.vxminers.com & shipping is still estimated for early to mid March (its contingent on when the bitfury chips ship if i understand correctly)

I am not the one making the units, i am just the one who tried to negotiate the best deal i could for the forum, as you read you will quickly learn i am not the worlds best negotiator.

The price of the unitis $2,550usd ( told you i am not a good negotiator )

But.................... I did manage to get us free shipping if we can take 50 units, and 1 free miner for every 50 sold, in which i will use an online service that the buyers agree on to randomly select the person who wins it. I will exclude myself from the drawing to make it fair.

I have spent about a week talking with Larry from VX miners and will be getting us some fresh pictures for this thread hopefully tomorrow. I also did speak with Nwools (Nate) to confirm that the two guys from VX Miners have been in touch with him and he did confirm that it will have native support for MultiMiner and that he will be getting 1 unit himself from them to ensure continued support with MultiMiner.

There are only about 200 units in total available, i dont want to get into the story so just read their blog.

The fine print:

A: I will be taking 2 units myself, i can do up to 5 units if it makes a difference on this group buy going through or not.

B: Larry the guy making these made it clear that they did not want to deal with any forums due to the nature of the mentality of the people who dwell in them, so please if you insist on being your usual selves, keep the trolling, accusations and all that other nonsense directed at me not them.

C: I am newer to this forum, and have never done a group buy before, If you have someone in mind that you guys would feel more comfortable with to run this, please let them and me know. I have no problem handing over the group buy to someone else the community has more trust for as long as they are still willing to raffle off the free machine to the people who bought one.

D: if you have any specific questions about anything please let me know, at current i dont know more than you guys do from looking at their website, they have not officially started advertising their website yet so i can usually get an e-mail reply from them within 24hrs to any questions. I would rather have all Q & A done publicly in this thread so the guys that are making these dont get 10,000 emails with the same questions in them.

E: They are not making a million machines, their total production capabilities are only 200 machines, if they sell over 150 of them when they launch their website ( next week once they get more pictures and video is what i was told) i will have to cancel the group buy if we did not hit 50 as it just does not seem worth it without the free shipping and someone winning a free machine.

F: Please direct any questions about the MultiMiner compatibility towards Nwools ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=248173.0 ) as he is the one who was working with these guys on its integration and support.

G: I ( or whoever finishes out the group buy) reserve the right to cancel this group buy at any time until we reach 50 units and funds are collected at which time all orders are committed and final. If you order a unit direct through their website you are not part of this group buy and will not be entered to win the free machine.

H: For international customers, i did ask the guys and they said that they bought a roll of UL and CE stickers to put on the machines somewhere for you if your country is a stickler about that stuff in customs. That does not mean they were inspected, its just a sticker and sometimes customs requires it. If you are an international customer please let me know so i can let them know when i send them the spreadsheet with all the shipping info.

If anyone wants to help me get and keep this organized until we hit 50 units please let me know, just being honest i know nothing about running a group buy more so than i needed to start a thread in this sub-category.

Just a brief check-in so i dont have to reply to a dozen messages tonight.

I was able to get my hands on a BTmine unit for pennies on the dollar and have confirmed that they are the exact same guts as every other 200 & 400 GH/s unit i got from china. With that i have placed a small order from DigiKey for the most common broken parts which should be in in a few days i assume.

I do not want to fix 1,000 machines but when the parts come in i will be offering a very limited repair service for some of you guys to get you back up and working.

I just got back from a vacation and need a day or two to get settled back in, but once i do i will start a new thread to gauge interest and see how many machines need fixing.

Please refrain from messaging me for now as my inbox has become a little overwhelming, once the thread is up i will make sure that everyone that needs help gets it in one fashion or another.

Hi Nwools, Sorry to cut in on your thread but i found a miner last night that claims to have MM support and they say they have talked with you about this and will have some advanced support with MM like overclocking. I just wanted to verify that was true and that they have in fact spoke with you to make sure its not a scam. They said something about sending you a demo machine in march on their website which made me a little worried so i wanted to verify your support with MM of their miner. They are calling it the VX-1 miner if that helps you remember them.

The blog post i found it on is here http://www.vxminers.com/blog/2014/01/26/multi-miner-compatibility-confirmed

Could you verify this for me please? If its true i want to get some ordered before everyone else finds out about them.

Yes I can confirm this is true. I will say I have no proof of hardware or anything of that sort. But I have been talking to them, they are working on the source for MultiMiner to add support for their rigs, and they are intending on sending me a unit so that I can maintain their changes. They seem like very bright and nice folks. Nothing seems shady (to me) so far.

Thanks for your help Nwolls, I couldnt find anything shady really but wanted to at least check to make sure the MM support part was true. I love your software.

Not that i give a shit about defending myself as a reputation as a forum is about as useful as a quadriplegic prostitute. But for those of you with brains who have followed i will summarize and reply back to the few brief things i saw, not gonna lie, i have better things to do than read 6 pages of this thread to see what all the trolls wrote since my last post.

1: SMF is full of holes, so much so that you dont even need to hack the db to get IP's, the PHP environment is garbage, a few quick lines of code and a simple injection using the cached info on the server @localhost and viola. a 10 year old with youtube (AKA: Script Kiddie) can do that much.

2: i saw mention of someone wanting me to do it again and post their IP address in public.. In response, Sure not a problem at all, you contact tomatocage and put 1BTC in escrow as payment with the instruction that when i post your IP in public, i get the Bitcoin. I am a licensed and certified professional ,and even though my going rate is only $250 and hour for pen testing, i am charging you an extra $600 for being a dispshit. If your not willing to pay for my services then STFU.

3: just so we are clear when the mod's and admin read the past few pages I DID NOT brute force the bitcointalk cpanel, the cpanel i brute forced was CTSminer's.

4: i saw a ton of you running your mouth about some kid shit, here is a simple solution. Unplug from the damn computer for a minute, pick up the phone and call the hosting company. In the time it took you to sit and think of something that was in your mind clever to reply back with, you could have called and found out i was telling the truth.

Thats really all the time i have this evening for all this silly crap so let me just end with this so i dont have to keep answering PM's

Rebecca, Phoenix, Maui, Whatever your calling your self at the moment, next time you try and run a scam like this, be sure not to involve one of your friends blindly so they go running back to the forum with your BS story about getting CTS shut down. Without violating a few ethical values, until you did that, nobody on this forum could prove it was you. But the minute you tried to make yourself to look like a hero to keep from trashing your rep from getting caught you stuck a knife in your own foot. ANYBODY from this forum could have called the hosting company ( and still can ) to find out that short of a court order they would NEVER shut down someones account, and they would get the same 100% assurance that if the website went down it was because the owner of the account took it down.

To the rest, i am not on this forum enough to give a crap, but those of you who have common sense and a phone, pick it up and dial, then when you find out i was telling the truth, please note the scammers accounts appropriately, If they are left in good standing, it only gives them room to try it again having learned form there mistakes.

Oh, one last thing, Phoenix, you better give EVERYONE their money back, If you/maui are the only ones claiming to have gotten refunds, you are only going to make it more obvious that you were the scam runners, as if it was not obvious enough. Even though 80% of people with brains will never buy your BS cover up. you had best make sure everyone at least on this forum gets their BTC back, or you will have 0 chance of defending yourself. Not that you really have a defense in the first place.

Ok thats really it, off to handle some RL

Hi guys, unfortunately i dont have one of these exact units, but i do have more than a dozen of other Chinese 200 GH/s and 400 GH/s units on the avalon module design, all of which have had their problems at one time or another which i had to fix myself. happy to say i have kept all mine running.

Anyways to the point, i dont want to say for sure, but i am fairly sure i could fix most anything that goes wrong with the BTmine units. I was wondering if anyone lived near Minneapolis MN, or within 6 hours of there that might have one, i would like to come take a look at it and see how much the same it is. After taking a look at one first hand, i can tell you if i can fix them for you guys. I am in the USA so it would be a USA only thing.

Please message me if you live in Minnesota or somewhere close to there and wouldnt mind if i drove out to check out your BTmine unit so i can maybe help the rest of everyone who is having issues, i have a bunch of spare parts for the typical avalon modules.

Searing,

It's like i said, troll away buddy, or whatever you want to call it, i dont do conspiracy, and dont do theory. Well i dont publish theory. The money trail is not bogus, but i can assure you, at least from what i have followed ( i admit i have not read every page of the 44 ) there was only 1 person who truly got ripped off.

Take a minute, pick up the phone, call the hosting comapny, they will tell you the same exact thing they told me. you dont have to have a PhD to know that 1+1=2 . I have read a lot of your posts in this thread and others. I was under the impression that you were smarter than that my friend. At least it seemed so as most of your posts are intelligent with the exception of that last one.
73  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Announcing NEW 3TH/s and 5TH/s 20nm Bitcoin Miners on: January 29, 2014, 09:12:00 AM
Well seeing as a virtual reputation on a forum means about as much to me as nipples on a goat, let me be the one to finally call a 4 legged animal that barks and wags it tail when its excited a dog. Please feel free to go on your normal rant to all of you whom feel it necessary after reading this post and mod's or admin, please feel free to ban me after it as well if you feel it necessary.

First, i will not (at least publicly **Wink**) bring names or member names into the post. As a professional holding licenses and Certificates i am bound to a code of Ethics when doing the "H" word. for those of you in my field that will all make sense, for the rest dont bother please.

Do a little digging into the forum ( anyone with history knows SMF has a million vulnerabilities, we just choose not to exploit them) it was easy to find some IP addresses. Then after a VERY easy brute force into a cpanel admin panel to find the IP address off the last login to the cts websites cpanel. Then it took about 3 minutes to sort the IP addresses from the posters in this thread in an ascending manor to make it easy to search and find that in FACT 1 person posting in this thread is (again) in FACT the same person who started the scam. Then with a little more digging through the e-mail headers on the server logged POP3 mails stuck in hoarde, it was a very short path to finding that this person also had an accomplice in this scam on this thread.

Lastly, i can assure you with 10000000000000000000000000000000000% certainty that NOBODY had to convince the server admins to temporarily take down the site while the company did their due diligence. As a matter of fact, the hosting company said that unless they were delivered a court order signed by a judge, ICANN, or another federal agency, they would not take down any clients website no matter what the accusations as it is bad business for them. They obviously could not comment directly on the hosting account in question, but could assure me 100% ( as if i didnt know it already ) that if the website went down that it was because the owner took it down.

In the end, as a newbie to the forum here i learned a very valuable lesson. TRUST NO ONE. When what appears to be a veteran member of the forum goes to such lengths to rip off the rest of the forum. I am just thankful this lesson didnt cost me anything.

Now, please feel free to trash my reputation for calling a dog a dog, but in doing so, please be sure to quote this post when you do because if i must be trashed, i will wear it as a badge of honor over calling things what they are.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY:

IN GOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS USE ESCROW

Oh, and my apologies to all of you who were looking for help on tracking down the bitcoin that went to other machines, my family and i are in the process of moving 2,200 miles from our current home and are working on closing escrow on the house this week. If you need it still, please give me a few more days until things calm down in my day.

Look like someone bought DoYouBitcoin.com - your welcome OP

For sure OnlyBTC, We just got our state paperwork back to make it official so The Bitcoin Society is now semi-born, started work on the website, but have spent more time on plugging holes in PHP and Drupal than getting the layout and display structure set up. Should hopefully have the site ready to launch by March.

Wasnt able to get doyoubitcoin.com as i bought up as many varients of The bitcoin society . everything as i could find, and just shelled out a few thousand on someone to help me plug as many security holes as we can find (PHP already sucks for vulnerabilities, and Drupal makes it worse) But using them and plugging holes will be faster than coding our own CMS and site from scratch.

Thanks again for your help with the naming adventure, the minute i saw it i knew that had to be it. Maybe when it comes time to start working on billboards and TV commercials and stuff i can hire you for your brain on some freelance creativity ideas.

To avoid having to copy and paste a thousand TxId's, let me make this all very easy for all of you.

https://blockchain.info/address/1BofXEuBSAbjwjhZuvxkoLJ9D8btpJ8knu

It will take you 3 clicks to get from the original address to here, then about 5 more clicks to see that they are funneling the bitcoin that they take in, directly back out to buy actual mining hardware from other suppliers. It only took me an hour of clicking on blockchain and goggling the addresses to see that they even bought Antminers from Sushi's group buy with the funds they have scammed people out of.

Congrats to anyone who sent them bitcoin, you have helped a scam artist get his first mining farm on your dollar.

They used a very piss poor mixing service too. took all of 5 minutes to find out that https://blockchain.info/address/14qGrXbPca2c4ejcKaWzvjhTK9MeHTcvtP is the address of the "partner" in this scam. seems to be holding exactly half of what has been scammed so far.

Not bad guys $115,000 in only a few months between all your scams. Crap, i need to quit my day job. If only i didnt have morals, i might hire you to teach me how its done.

To put an end to all this debate and 20 something pages of banter.

THIS IS A SCAM: Reason below

No legitimate asic mining manufacturer is going to take the bitcoin they make from selling their own hardware, and turn around and use it to buy mining hardware from other manufacturers and even group buys.

Rest assured, that ANYONE who posts after this post claiming there is any legitimacy behind this company IS IN ON THE SCAM.

There is no more need for a single person to bump this thread with another post or reply because all you are doing is keeping it at the top of the topics for more people to get ripped off. THE MODS REALLY NEED TO LOCK THIS THREAD BEFORE IT GETS MORE PEOPLE SCAMMED

Are we really going to keep having a debate about all of this? Is it really necessary to keep posting on this thread and bumping it further?

For having 22 pages of people who act like they are super sleuths and have all the answers i would think it is VERY plain to see what the deal is here, and who their accomplices are.

I am not a mod, and am not trying to be one, but why dont we move this conversation to the new thread i started here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=432716 where it belongs to make sure this thread gets buried before anyone else from this forum gets ripped off.

If you are dumb enough to believe that a hardware manufacturer would have any reason to turn around and use the bitcoin they just got for selling their own machines to buy thousands of dollars worth of other machines literally within hours of getting it, including from group buys on our own forum, you deserve to to have every last bitcoin you own stolen from you so much to the point that you never use bitcoin again.

Dooh!, OK, time for me to speak up now you guys have made it pretty obvious it's a complete scam, they got me hook line and sinker.

I was working on something else at the time and, distracted, I didn't do enough due-dilligence. No excuse really.
I missed the bit where they claimed their chips were made in-house.
I knew nobody in the UK fabs 20nm - in the UK. That would have rung big alarm bells with me.

If you want a bitcoin address to chase, I've put the one I sent coins to below. For what it's worth.

Hopefully a minimum of people will have been got by this thanks to your detective work.

It's the first time I've been scammed over the internet and I will try to make sure it's my last.

So its safe to say that at least 400 people just got ripped off, and some scammer just made about a million bucks.

<-- Thinks to himself, Man, i cant beat them, maybe its time i launch my newest Asic product, the 15nm "twit" miner. a week on a website design, and $5 to some shmuck from india to write a press release and i become even more bitcoin rich. Hell maybe i can take a picture of a powered subwoofer with a sticker with the company name on it like bitco miners, and i wont have to deal with everyone calling my scam a scam.

Yep thats the plan, stay tuned for the most state of the art 15nm asic 20 TH/s "twit" miner. will have it up in a week. Oh, and i have decided to become a re-seller for the unicorn miner too. so be sure and get in on your pre-order. hahahahahha

Dont think she will ever be coming back, but we could set up an auto dial program to call that phone number non stop 24/7 to keep them so busy with answering the phone they dont have time to scam anyone. We could also flood their e-mail inbox with so much spam they cannot find a single customer inquiry to reply to trying to convince them to blow their money.

We are a very resourceful forum, and i personally think its time we start fighting back. Anyone have any ideas on how we can monkey wrench this operation to the point they just give up? Legal or otherwise, i am all for it. what they are doing is not legal so why should i be.
