I do on occasion go to a drive thru fast food place that is in a complex with a gas station, a large retailer, etc. Homeless people are always hanging out near one specific entrance/exit location in the complex. So, if I feel like it....I order my meal x2 and when I'm leaving give 1 away to of whichever homeless person happens to be there that day. It's not a daily, scheduled or regular thing. I can spend my money how I wish and as far as I know, it's not illegal in Florida to hand a person a bag of food whether you know them or not.

Not all over Florida apparently. This was an ordinance, which means it was passed by a city. I think it was Fort Lauderdale?

OMG R U SAYING THAT PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT PLACES PREFER TO LIVE BY DIFFERENT RULES?

It is much more complicated then feeding other people. The laws have to do with food safety and having a food license in order to distribute food. If this old man were to have obtained a license to serve food (like all restaurants are required to have) and be subject to the same sanitary inspections then he would be able to give away food to whoever he wants

So like someone mentioned, kids sharing food should be illegal (by your logic) and picking fruit from a tree should be as well.

Who knows what kind of dirty things that tree may have.  Lets just monopolize all of our food into the loving hands of monsanto and the FDA so we cant consume any real food food that is not given to us by mass produced commercial agriculture drenched in pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, with gmo in the core of each bite.

Because its much better to consume food that kills all living organism than to have the right to choose what food you want to enter your body.

It makes so much sense now.  People aren't passing these laws to hurt homeless people, they're disallowing the feeding of homeless out of pure love and concern that the food is unhealthy.

Goodbye farmers markets!

Up next, prohibition of the distribution of water! (That doesn't contain that scrumptious, brain calcifying, aluminum industry waste product fluoride and that oh so healthy chlorine to bleach your body).

Cause you know, we gotta make sure everyone has a sparkling smile.

I was just wtfing over that comment above you Eisenhower34 and then I just went "Ohhhh It's dank!" lol Tongue yeah, don't bother trying to respond to him guys, he's one of our resident psychopaths.

Right, because in this world, sanctioned murder is an act of peace and sanity, while speaking of nonviolence, love and equality, is an act of psychopaths.

http://thespiritscience.net/2014/11/05/yoga-meditation-can-reshape-your-brain/

Quote
You can physically change your brain through Yoga and Meditation.  Science has found Neurobiological evidence to support what meditation experts have been claiming for years; That people are healthier and happier when they meditate.

“Neuroscientist Sara Lazar’s amazing brain scans show meditation can actually change the size of key regions of our brain, improving our memory and making us more empathetic, compassionate, and resilient under stress."

The area of the brain that controls emotions, empathy and compassion actually grows in the brain when you practice yoga and meditate.  The region of the brain connected to our feelings becomes bigger and there are more connections there.  That is why meditators are more able to connect with the world around them, love everyone and are more able to find happiness.

Also the parts of the brain that respond the most to stress gets smaller with meditation.  This means that anxiety and depression naturally fade with a meditation practice.

How many of you incorporate meditation in your lives?  Is there anything you find helpful during meditation?

65  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 90 year old man gets arrested for feeding the homeless for the third time on: November 20, 2014, 02:11:38 AM
Don't be so ignorant.  There are enough houses for every homeless person to have their own shelter.  And what homeless people shit all over cities?  I'm homeless and I know how to walk into a store and use a toilet.

People caring more about property values and greed is exactly what makes people homeless.  Some homeless people are the most real people you meet.  At least they're not destroying huge amounts of nature like most people in western society.

Sorry to burst your ego but you are no more significant than a homeless person nor a housefly.  We are all equal.

I'm being realistic, not "ignorant."  In the real world homeless people shit all over the cities all the time.  And most stores can't let randoms use their restrooms, because of the potential mess and liability.

We are only "all equal" in the eyes of the law.  Otherwise, not so much.  Isaac Newton equal to Beyonce?  Einstein equal to Kim Kardashian?  That's the kind of nonsense that makes people laugh at egalitarian half-wits like yourself.  Sorry you can't cope with actual diversity and must retreat into a childish a priori belief in homogeneity which is not supported by the facts at hand.

As for who is destroying nature, while many in "western society" are wasteful, it was in the west that we first created a middle class with excess income sufficient to afford the luxury of the environmentalism and activism.  And it isn't the west that is vacuuming the worlds forest clean of wildlife, like the poor pangolins, rhinos, and bears.  So fuck right off with such weak, hypocritical cultural critiques.

Your self-loathing is not anyone's problem but your own.   Wink

Yes, we are all equal.  Meat vehicle + consciousness is all we are, no matter how you try to judge them.

It isn't the west vacuuming forests of the world?  No, it's the people in other countries that we buy off in order to attain cheap materials to fulfill the western world's consumptuous addiction.

The western world (aka greed based society) is the exact reason copious amounts of wildlife are killed.  To fill the wallets of those that are forced into a western monetary system and to fill the living rooms of the westerners that would pay thousands of dollars for an elephant's ivory.

If you can't see that you're just a particle amongst a sea of infinite particles, there's not much of a point in discussing.  Your ego won't allow you to perceive any information that deflates it's delusion.

I read a theory once that the world's pyramids were created to enslave humanity to use only 10% of their brains.

This guy had mapped out years ago pyramid's that I had never heard of and he said the grid was like a prison so humans could be controlled and made slaves to entertain the beings that created all these ancient pyramids thousands of years ago, then he put out some math showing how the ancient Giza pyramid was based upon the largest astrological number in our solar system and there was no way Egyptians knew about the number that had only been discovered around 100 years or so ago.

Then he connected the pyramids to pentagrams and showed how mass loss of life events were always on ley lines connected to the pyramids.

Pretty out there stuff, but he did a great job building the case that there was an energy grid controlling human minds to only 10% use of their brains. Years later I saw a show on those new huge pyramids they discovered I think in Turkey and sure enough the scientists have confirmed now all these ancient pyramids are radiating energy they cannot explain with modern science.

His solution was simple, he purposed knocking down every pyramid to stop the power grid from controlling humanity so humanity doesn't destroy itself.

Pyramids do not constrict energy, they channel energy.  They are amplifiers.

Humans are easily controlled because our desolation from the source, because of our absence of love.  Pyramids connect you to the source.  They align you with the universe.

This jerk is playing the CCPP game by externalizing the costs of feeding the homeless onto his unwilling neighbors, which is a form of coercion.

Is he going to compensate his neighbors for their decreased property values?  No.

Is he going to clean up the fecal matter which his food will be turned into?  No.

Is he going to provide security for the normal people who want to use that park?  No.

He's exactly like the dumbasses who bring Ebola back with them from their do-gooder missions.  They get to feel good about their altruism, while forcing other to pay for the negative consequences.

He's also exactly like the dumbasses who move into neighborhoods with homeowner associations, then refuse to abide by their rules.  Sorry, but if like-minded people want to set up voluntary associations with restrictions to provide for greater security and prosperity, you don't have the right to force your altruism on them.

This jerk should invite the homeless into his own house to feed them, not use a park that he didn't pay to build or maintain.

Don't be so ignorant.  There are enough houses for every homeless person to have their own shelter.  And what homeless people shit all over cities?  I'm homeless and I know how to walk into a store and use a toilet.

Is it scary being in there at night when you're trying to sleep, but you hear spooky sounds and you don't know where they're coming from, and you're too afraid to find out?

Heh, na but those storage units definitely make some strange noises, sure did last night with the wind.

The mind of greed is not confounded to sectors.  It is a pattern, a cycle.

This technology will come from internal processes, not external.

Manifestation is a constant ongoing process.  The more aware we become of this, the more we can control what we manifest.

Wonderful.  And the cycle continues.  Bitcoin leads to private cartels that self regulate those outside of them by the sole discretion of the staff.

Don't like your philosophy?  Ban!  Don't like who you are?  See ya!

Wonderful, governance 2.0.

If you want anyone to take bitcoin seriously, you're going to have to at least respect natural rights of humans as much as the US government.

At least they pretend to have a fair justice system.

If this community cannot respectfully explain why a member who has been active since 2011 was banned for posting articles, why should any member hold trust in this community or pseudo wealthy bitcoin elitists?

What a system that allows an anonymous figure with a large incentive of greed to dictate other equal human being's ability to function with the click of a mouse.

Yes.  A blacked out impala slowly circled my old coldesaq a couple heard ago right before I was leaving my friends house.  My friend saw the car and I told him to not stare at it, that they'd just feed off your fear.

All I could tell at this point was it was a government impala.

A minute or so later I get in my car and drove around the corner and up the big hill.  The impala is at the top of the hill, cutting off the road.  I slow down to a stop and the impala slowly rolls by me and opens the window 2/3rds of the way down or so.

Inside the car I see my girl from when we dated sophomore year of highschool, with her reddish brown hair and all.  At this time in life, her hair was blonde.  She or it looked down, as if preoccupied.

Basically saw a shapeshifter that took on the form of the girl I fell in love with.  Didn't bother me too much, was sorta just perplexed that it happened, but it was what it was.

I've also seen a UFO, my whole family saw it Christmas of 2012.  It was an orange orb UFO, very bright and large.  It drifted against the wind.

We are still awaiting for you to pay off your debt, which is infinitely more important.

Are you a staff member?

In my opinion, there is little wisdom in pointing out the splinter in your brother's eye instead of giving careful attention to the beam in your own.
This has been the wisest post I have read concerning the subject matter.
If your seeking wisdom, dank threads are a poor choice. They exist for light entertainment purposes only, nothing else.

The fact that you feel the need to justify such a thing only shows your fear of higher philosophy.
