61  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MovieTickets.com Brings Bitcoin to Over 900 US Movie Theaters on: June 17, 2015, 10:06:45 AM
Shame this is US only as I won't be able to take advantage of it. Great news though for us bitcoiners as a whole, this is only a small step but I love reading articles like this, bit by bit, inch by inch we're creeping towards the goal of mainstream adoption. We will get there but it'll take time. Great news though Grin

GoCoin says it includes Regal Cinemas which are owned by the US Regal Entertainment Group. However, there is also a UK theater chain called Regal Cinemas. Sadly it's not connected to the US company, but they might notice the news and follow suit because the US company has exactly the same name.
62  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 17, 2015, 09:56:44 AM
I'm not a big fan of such a huge rally based on nothing.

While I believe the price should be closer to $400 I am skeptical of a 10+% rise out of nowhere.

If it is based on the Grexit thing (as Reuters claims) then that just leaves the price to go back down when they bail out Greece in the next week or so.

Regardless, I hope it stabilizes above $240 for a while putting a final nail in the bear market.

There have been at least two previous occasions when an unbreakable deadline loomed and it seemed like there was no way to avoid a Grexit. Each time the unbreakable deadline passed, miraculously got extended, and a seemingly impossible deal was done. A few weeks later the whole thing disappears from the news. They will probably do a last minute deal again this time.
63  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Chart] My prediction about Bitcoin Price from 2015 to 2017 on: June 07, 2015, 08:40:59 PM
i agree with your prediction but i think it is so optimistic.
block halving is predicted to happen in July of 2016, but i agree that the price jump is going to start with a delay of 2-3 months.
and i don't know about the >$1000 price, it doesn't look like a possibility to me.

Happened once, why cant happens again? I think it is a fair estimative

There is a new thread about the fact all the old patterns Bitcoin followed have now been broken. Whatever happens around the next halving time is not necessarily going to be a repeat of the last halving. It may go >$1000 or it may not, but I doubt the same pattern as the last time will repeat.
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is sex selling bitcoin? on: June 07, 2015, 08:30:14 PM
Any videos containing hot girls showing some skin will get tons of views guaranteed, nothing new. What would matter is how much % of the people that visit it are going to actually look into Bitcoin and not only the girl and continue browsing the internet.

It's probably like less than 1/5 of people that will look into it, since the target of such a video isn't going to be very bright people in average.

It's probably far less than 5%. Most of the people who view porn sites are only there to view porn. After they have viewed it they aren't thinking straight and are unlikely to pursue intellectual questions like "what is Bitcoin".
65  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Payout on PayPal on: May 21, 2015, 10:15:49 PM
If you don't want to exchange them with no one Create a Netteller account, there you can make an online Debit Card which can be Paypal Validated, and just a month ago Neteller started accepting Bitcoin..

http://bitcoin-libertyreserve.blogspot.mx/2013/07/verify-paypal-using-neteller-simple-and.html

Peace!

Thanks for posting this information, I was unaware of it. What are Neteller's charges for using its service, and are there limits on deposits and withdrawals? Is their service available worldwide? Are there any possible problems with Paypal chargebacks?
66  Economy / Speculation / Re: ~!~!~! Bitcoin Price Discussion !~!~!~ on: May 21, 2015, 10:10:08 PM
Why o why would a scam come crashing down...? I have no idea...

why you hate bitcoin so much, you are one of those that bought at 1200+, and now regret it, or you want to drive the price down to buy cheap?

because besides those reasons i can't see other to justify throwing shit at bitcoin...

sad for you but bitcoin will remain stable for now, no crash is incoming.

Bitcoin has been surpassed by several superior altcoins a long time ago. Developers are refusing to adapt bitcoin with new important features and important scaleability adjustments. It's pretty much ancient technology by now.
The only thing keeping the price up is the bagholders trying to trick everyone into buying their worthless bags.
I said it many times,  the concept is great but with a rotten community and no development it's destined to fail.

Some altcoins have new features lacking in Bitcoin but I don't think any of them are good enough to surpass Bitcoin's first mover advantage. Bitcoin has continued functioning for years, whereas the new altcoins have only been running for a fraction of that time and have yet to prove they don't contain serious bugs by running for 5 or 6 years.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IPO vs ICO vs Pre-Sale on: May 10, 2015, 11:18:58 PM
The devs who made up the names thought they could avoid prosecution by calling an IPO a different name, but I doubt it will work in the long run. As far as I'm concerned IPO, ICO, and pre-sale all mean exactly the same thing.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin hardfork + Fincen going after IPO/ICO/Presaled coins. Safe haven is... on: May 10, 2015, 11:15:49 PM
Litecoin and Dogecoin have similar blocksize limit issues as Bitcoin. They are definitely not a safe haven from the Bitcoin hard fork issue. In fact the Bitcoin clones did not deal with this issue even though it has been an issue with Bitcoin for well over two years. The one group of coins that do not have the hard blocksize limit issue is the Cryptonote coins which is what attracted me to Monero in the first place.

Bitcoin hardfork + Fincen going after IPO/ICO/Presaled coins makes Monero very attractive.

Edit: It is important to recognize that FinCEN is not going after the coins themselves but rather after those who received the proceeds of the IPO/ICO pre-mine etc. To the degree that these individuals and organizations have an impact on the future of the coin will determine the impact of FinCEN's actions on the coin itself.

Most of the IPO coins have anonymous devs who often disappear not long after the IPO is over. Nobody knows who the Nxt IPO dev was, so FinCEN would have problems going after him. No doubt their lawyers will be closely examining the legal framework behind the Ethereum IPO though because it dev is not anonymous.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Technical Analysis Work for Altcoins? on: May 10, 2015, 11:03:01 PM
So many technical indicators are volume dependent, and are useless in the face of low volume. Other indicators mean one thing if volume is high and another if volume is low, but once again, are useless if low volume is the norm. Not only do most of these people ignore volume, they usually ignore other indicators and only show the patterns that support their position. In my opinion, TA is useless for most coins because of low volume. On the small percentage of coins that have good volume, you should do your own TA and not rely on what you see from others.

This is most likely accurate.  Most markets are too easily moved by one person to trust TA.

+2

I'll add that if it works, it is mostly on established coins.

P.S. Oh... dat JSupreme.. what a troll...

I'm not convinced it even works for Bitcoin. People often claim the Bitcoin market is too small for it to work, and if there's any doubt about the Bitcoin market then it's pointless using TA on alt markets.
70  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin be around in 5 years? If so, what's its price? on: May 10, 2015, 10:55:13 PM
The price will probably stay in the $210-250 range for the next 10-12 years

lol that would be the craziest outcome ever.  People might get bored if it does that bitcoiners want it all or nothing.

A stable price for years would be ironic. It's the last thing anyone would expect, but you never know. An article I read speculated that we had a flat, boring, stable price for a few long periods in the past, and maybe that's what Btcoin needs to be adopted more widely.
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kaspersky and INTERPOL Say Blockchain is Vulnerable on: April 12, 2015, 11:10:39 AM
This,

where is the research? They cannot say "blockchain is vulnerable" without give a full report and various example of that attack.

I trust my cat more than FBI + Interpol .
Well this doesn't surprise me. I'm just disappointed that Kaspersky has joined them. I've had some faith in them.

Until Kaspersky can make a tool to prove there is a vulnerability, I am not believing anything.

Prove it.
Exactly. Let's say that Kaspersky wanted to be the good guy here. They should have gives us information so that it can be fixed.

For viruses I thought it's standard practice to keep quiet about a new vulnerability until the experts develop a fix for it. They tell each other about it but keep quiet about it publicly. Why has Kaspersky publicly blurted out a story about a vulnerability before the experts have had a chance to work on it?
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's To Blame In Bitcoin Foundation's Unrest on: April 12, 2015, 11:06:15 AM
TBF allows scammers to be silver/gold members and did nothing to promote bitcoin.

TBF was founded by scammers. They violated their own by-laws from the very beginning. And declared Satoshi as one of the founders.

Was Satoshi ever linked to it in any way? He vanished long before I took an interest in Bitcoin and I don't know how long TBF has existed for.
73  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is it safe to keep your coins in Bitstamp? on: March 27, 2015, 04:01:06 PM
Keeping coins on an exchange has two main risks:  Theft by third parties, and problems with the exchange itself.

If you use 2FA, you are reasonably safe from hackers but I wouldn't keep large amounts there.

I would not trust Bitstamp, or any exchange for long term storage. The only way to trade is to deposit coins which makes it inevitable you have to store them on an exchange for short spells. After trading I would immediately withdraw them.
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning network, Bitcoin development and Alts on: March 27, 2015, 03:55:44 PM
I hink full bitcoin nodes that only require 1GB of storage are a good idea. They are what Satoshi envisaged for dealing with blockchain bloat. It's pointless forcing all nodes to download over 5 years of transactions.
75  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTER.com hacked| 7170 BTC stolen |DON'T KEEP YOUR MONEY ON AN EXCHANGE| REOPENED on: March 15, 2015, 09:25:14 PM
Has anyone else's history disappeared at Bter? My trading history has disappeared together with my deposit/withdrawal history.

Did your balance disappear as well or only the history ? It might be down for now, but if its the balance that disappeared then thats something to worry about. Did the rest of you get your withdrawals processed or are you guys waiting for Monday ?

My balances are still there, only my history disappeared. I'm going to wait until things settle down before attempting withdrawals.
76  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hopelessly Confused on: March 15, 2015, 02:17:03 PM
Was this the last auction or will there be one more? If there's another when is it, will it be the last and how many BTC will be sold?

as far as i know it was the final auction. before auction no one exactly knows how much coins will be auctioned and in how many batches.

A final auction of the roughly 44,000 remaining bitcoins will be held at an unspecified time in the future.
77  Economy / Speculation / Re: this bull kisses 317 in 48 hrs on: March 15, 2015, 02:11:53 PM
I do not have the time nor skills to post a chart and show the flag pattern.  But basically the "pole" started around 240, then there was the "flag" from 265 to 285 then a completed flag pattern would have resolved itself with an advance as long as the "pole" bringing price to approx 317.  Although sadly it looks to have broke out of that pattern.

I am still very bullish though.  A slow advance like this with regular corrections is more sustainable than a big spike.

We should make another run at 300 after we get some more fuel down in the 280's

Did you invent flag pattern analysis yourself? Is there somewhere we can find out about it?

79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long did it take for Satoshi to make the blockchain? on: March 15, 2015, 02:04:36 PM
Satoshi could not have created the blockchain without Hal Finney contributing POW. He created the first reusable proof of work system years before Bitcoin had been created. Without that POW system Bitcoin's blockchain could never have been created.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DeafDollars $DEAF Launch Date 11/16/2014 | Bittrex Bound! on: February 28, 2015, 12:53:32 PM
DEAF team going back on it's word to give 1000 DEAF to the twitter re-tweeters?
That is not going to sit well for anyone. If there is no honesty from a dev,
what is left?

If its got a premine, what's it for if not for giveaways?
