61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][STD] StandardCoin - BUILT-IN EXCHANGE - Permanently Rising Rate on: April 09, 2014, 09:37:36 PM
I gave them a positive rating although I had to wait for 30 hours getting my IPO coins.
I was going to, but I have no idea how, you have to fill in some complicated form and have to have done a transaction or something.  I thought it was a thumbs up thumbs down thing like Youtube.

It is not difficult. Just click on the word "trust" below username TheRealStandard.
On this trust page scroll down, enter the risked amount of BTC, enter your comment and click submit.
That is all.

Yup! That's it.

Edit: Just 2 ratings at their trust site: mine and ghibly's.

No, there's about 8.  You can only see your own and those who themselves have a positive trust.  You have to click a link to see the others.

But only ghibly's seems to be having an effect.

mt gox is bad nightmare, but long gone
worry not, better times coming

Better times are coming, probably pretty soon  Smiley
Every day we get closer to the start of the next big rally.

Maybe all sellers should simply ask for more?  I've been selling my coins on Cryptsy and asking a little above the current price, I don't mind waiting a bit.  Selling them at the current buying bid just lets them fall.

I've just tried to give him a positive feedback, but it seems to have made no difference to his score.  Neither have the other good feedbacks he's got.  Does anyone know how this weird system works?  It looks like only someone with their own score can give someone else a score.  So er.... catch 22 anyone?

He still has red on his name because ghibly79 marked his new username as well.  I can't really think of a reason to start a new thread and a new username other than to get rid of all of that.

1) The coin wallet has a mandatory update, so it's to bring it to people's attention.
2) Because ghibly has been harassing him and tarnishing his so far good name.  The dev's done nothing wrong yet.
66  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin value fall and Mt Gox on: April 09, 2014, 02:21:30 PM
Everyone keeps talking about Mt. Gox, Mt. Gox, Mt. Gox. As though Mt. Gox is solely responsible for the current price drop. Do you guys remember the many other major issues and warning signs that there were with Mt. Gox long before the latest clusterfuck? Other exchanges have lost or stolen funds as well. I really think the whole Mt. Gox card is being overplayed just a bit.

If I have a large quantity of coins, I don't keep them in any bank or exchange, they're on my own computer.  If I have a very large quantity, I make multiple copies of the wallet, encrypt them, and keep them in seperate safe places.  Why do people trust these exchanges?
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][STD] StandardCoin - BUILT-IN EXCHANGE - Permanently Rising Rate on: April 09, 2014, 10:52:06 AM
...I donīt understand the hate. This coin is an perfect answer to the Cryptocurrency world at this moment...
Every day a new "shit" coin is starting and everywhere pumper and dumper at the exchanges.
Small fishes can answer in a colletive.
Money making machine like a Perpeto Mobile with ...StandardCoin for everyone.

Agreed.  ghibly79 seems to be following him around and spouting hate messages.  The dev hasn't moved the thread to remove "scam" information, as he still has the red mark on his username.

This coin has much better prospects than the other 200.

MT.gox were putting bad influence on cryptocurrencies for many months. Without it future can only be brighter.

Some people might not have trust towards bitcoin but more and mroe big players are starting to get into this business. Recently even some banks considered to adapt bitcoin to abuse transaction system.

Please elaborate on the bank abuse, this sounds intriguing.

from wikipidia:

"Probability is a measure of the likeliness that an event will occur.[1]

Probability is used to quantify an attitude of mind towards some proposition of whose truth we are not certain"

I've done statistics at University.  And a probability of 1 (or 100%) leaves no room for it not happening.

you say it only scams the later investors .. so actualy you realize it's a scam..I personaly am still not certain of that..

but if this is a scam it would also hurt the miners that would mine at his multipool

I mine at multipool and ipominer.  It can't hurt me, I sell whatever is the most profitable coin at the time.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][STD] StandardCoin - BUILT-IN EXCHANGE - Permanently Rising Rate on: April 08, 2014, 07:07:04 PM
"probability" or "chance" would still leave a certain amount of uncertainty ,so not definitely without a doubt in my honest opinion.
but let's not split hairs .. the only 100% way to be absolutely sure this is a scam or not is to foresee the future.

Jim: "What's the probability of that happening?"
Bob: "100%"

Most people would realise Bob meant there is no way in hell that it wouldn't happen.

but I know that if I would like to set up a scam this would be a good way to do it

It only scams the later investors.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][STD] StandardCoin - BUILT-IN EXCHANGE - Permanently Rising Rate on: April 08, 2014, 05:36:08 PM
Well....there is a 100% chance that it is a scam ,thats the problem..
Where I was brung up, "chance" = "probability", so 100% chance = definitely without a doubt.

you will only know for sure that it's a scam when the dev has taken the money/BTC  Shocked
What the dev could do to make everything more transparent is for instance use escrow and also tell everyone what his other alias here on bitcointalk is..

right now everybody is just trusting an nameless stranger with there hard earned BTC .. thats the part I don't get personally
I'd trust him with a small amount if I was an investor.  But I'm a minor not an investor.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][STD] StandardCoin - BUILT-IN EXCHANGE - Permanently Rising Rate on: April 08, 2014, 04:17:56 PM
He's just been trying to show people that with this system the change of beeing scammed is high.. specially when the "multipool" gets into play aswell
everybody is gonna be minning to fill up the stack of BTC even further?
I'm not saying that the dev is gonna take the BTC and run...but with this system he's got every possibillity to do so.. thats one giant red flag in my book!

Let's hope the naive are right this time (but I doubt it)

Well it sounded more like he was saying 100% chance of a scam to me.
74  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin value fall and Mt Gox on: April 08, 2014, 02:09:41 PM
I'm not advocating full on salaries at this early stage but small steps would help. Think ebay, craigslist, freelance sites, fiverr, etc. If people got paid even a small amount directly in crypto, they would have an incentive to spend it like currency.

Ebay did say they liked the idea.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][STD] StandardCoin - BUILT-IN EXCHANGE - Permanently Rising Rate on: April 08, 2014, 01:39:03 PM
The risk is there, and very high given the particular structure of this ponzi, 75% instant loss when you invest. Even the best Ponzi are not eternal (and this is pretty bad and evident).
But again the problem is not what I or you assume, is he didn't state that, nay he say the opposite, that no loss is possible. I truly believe you are 100% a troll by now xD Must have been the 10th time I repeated that simple concept xD
Was fun but now I have better things to do, really.

Funny, I was thinking you were either a troll, or someone with a vendetta against the dev.  You're not being constructive, you're just trying to put people off the coin.  Maybe you're a rival dev?
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][STD] StandardCoin - BUILT-IN EXCHANGE - Permanently Rising Rate on: April 08, 2014, 12:43:40 PM
Again, and lastly: even if he doesn't he still created a Ponzi, deceiving people (for the fun of it?). If he doesn't cash it out it would be retarded (though very likely he'll do, thus the "extreme caution" is still a fair warning) but he still put up a fraudolent post.

A penitent scammer. Would be the first time. Still deserved negative even then Wink

Only if you believe a Ponzi to be somehow wrong.

"Ponzi" (wikipedia) means a fraudolent investment scheme where you deceive investors to put money in, telling them no loss is possible (or even that profit is guaranteed), when actually the only way they can profit is if new investors come, losing money in their stead. Eventually new investments will stop and bag holders will lose everything. Exactly what this coin is xD

Deception in itself is wrong. You can do it "legit" by declaring you are running a ponzi (here, for example --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=558656.0  gambling section).
Otherwise, you are at least a deceiving scammer, like dev is. So he is lying and holding your money, very very bad combo. More than enough for a big fat -xx feedback and extreme caution tagging.

You're assuming investments will stop.  And investors now have no danger of that happening.

You keep missing the point over and over (pretty sure you are trolling, but let's go Wink ): there is nothing more to prove relatively to the scam we contested him (id est "trying to run a Ponzi scheme"). He already did that in post one. The system is a Ponzi, by it's very structure. Wikipedia (and some brain, though very little) is your friend.

The only thing he can do now is change the first post stating the truth, i.e. this is not a secure investment where you cannot lose but just a Ponzi. That and ofc not running away with the btc on his "exchange" for a very long period of time.
Even if he corrects the post that's not going to cancel his attempted scam (ALREADY done, nothing more to prove about that), I can only mitigate the feedback (something funny like "attempted a ponzi scam but then changed his mind. So maybe now you can trust him....").
Very unlikely he'll do that anyway xD

We don't know he's going to run away with the money.  What is this silly vendetta you have against the developer?
79  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin value fall and Mt Gox on: April 08, 2014, 08:23:31 AM
Good explanation.  So will Bitcoin ever stabilise properly?  I can't see it being a good currency if it's going to fluctuate wildly forever.  Maybe when it starts getting used to purchase goods more?

I believe what is needed is a balanced economy. That means it can't be 99% transactions between miners and investors/speculators with an occasional real purchase transaction thrown in here and there - it should be MAJORITY regular transactions with a small percentage investment/mining. This will take time but it does need to happen. Also, some people need to be getting paid for labor and services directly in Bitcoin. Think about it, why would a regular person go through the trouble of obtaining Bitcoin or any other digital currency, to make purchases, when they could just use a credit card? Well, if they received Bitcoin as payment then they would go ahead and save or spend it just like fiat.

There's a whole article about this concept here: http://www.cryptopros.com/2014/03/working-for-cryptocurrency.html

Also, if businesses could pay employees in crypto they would have an incentive to hold the crypto they receive as payment for their goods/services, to use it to pay employees, rather than immediately exchanging it to fiat.

Catch 22, it won't stabilise until people do the above, and people won't do the above until it's stable.  Would you want all your wages to be paid in something that could halve in price in a week?  Think how many bankruptcies we'd have when company's assets took dives.

That's IF he's a scammer.  Why can you not accept that he may be telling 100% truth?
I am. I'm totally convinced he's telling 100% the truth. I'm a firmier believer than you. And that truth is he's running a ponzi xD
I'm not going to explain it to you again. You go and read some pages ago if you want.

If turns out he's not a scammer, will you delete the negative feedback and admit that you misdjuded him/them?
