61  Economy / Economics / Re: Should bitcoin be backed by something like bullion? on: February 01, 2014, 04:35:43 AM
XNF-NoFiatCoin is a digital currency backed by bullion which can be redeemed at anytime. Should bitcoin also be backed by bullion in future so that it can attract more and more people?

it is backed by its purchasing power... amagi metals backs it with there whole range of metals. you can also redeem your bitcoin for crap at overstock etc
62  Economy / Economics / Re: Why BTC is constantly increasing value long term??? Answer here on: January 31, 2014, 08:00:16 PM
You forget that the less suply there is. The more value something has.

By the way. It is the exact same mechanism that will eventualy happen to Oil. The price of oil goes higher the less available suply is on earth... When they discover a cheap technology to mine previously unavailable oil or just a new oil suply the price drops. When there is no available oil, there potentialy can be a war for the last drop of it. Of course just therotecaly because we will just start using electric cars or whatever... and the demand will be non existent. However a single drop of an oil when there is no oil anywhere on earth will still have a value of trilions of dollars even though there is no demand for it.

i stopped reading here, because i can turn a wide range of plants or animals into oil, so i already have my trillion dollar ticket. fuck bitcoin its dead after this post.

trillion dollars BITCHES
63  Economy / Speculation / Re: January 31st chinese new year seems to have no effect on bitcoin price on: January 31, 2014, 06:39:06 PM
I was expecting the price to fluctuate some because of all the speculation about January 31st (which is today)
Will it take time for the prices to show effect.
Will there be any effect at all?

it was all public news for a long long time, so it was priced in well before jan 31. now we are just holding in this range for a few more days while the chinese holidays are going on. id expect feb 8 to be more interesting, and by march 31 to be lifting off again. until then im going to be watching carefully for dips to buy more but i dare not sell because i feel take off is soon... if nothing big happens (price change up or down) by march 31 ill become a little worried
64  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you jump every 2 min for the next 5 years if you were to receive 10,000 BT on: January 31, 2014, 06:34:15 PM
Rigid rules get broken. You can instate something like having a few exceptions per day, a limit or so, with a penalty. Ie, while driving, one can skip the duty for 20 minutes (10 times) but has to do 30 jumps consecutively.
if the rules are broken you die, its in the rules, as has been confirmed by the op in post 1

well there can be exceptions for certain circumstances if we are going to get technical.

For one, if someone signed up for this contest and were pregnant, obviously she can have the time to give birth/surgery without the jumping penalty..

But for everyday normal stuff like playing video games,  you would still to need to jump in between while playing. Or jump in between while at a movie theater. Or won't be able to ride a rollercoaster longer than 2 minutes.

but its good for the preggers to jump a bunch, all the time, i hear it stimulates the babys muscles and they come out RIPPED.. or does it just rip up the baby.. i forget sometimes...

66  Economy / Speculation / Re: Psychological bitcoin price on: January 31, 2014, 06:11:11 PM
the thing is, how many of the current holders would want to buy more pieces if coin if the price is 10000? i may work at getting to the next whole number but i dont know if i would want to buy past that. truly we need 1/10th a bitcoin named something, and 1/100 coin named something. then its easy for my greed to continue.

its going to be very interesting to see if as we break past 1k people start becoming ok with never owning a full coin. if THAT barrier is broken then i think many more people will buy. noone whats to be too close to the group of people who have lots of full coins while not having a full one themselves, but if i were in a group of people none of whom had a full coin, id be happy to just try and have more parts of a coin than most friends, or a equal amount
67  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you jump every 2 min for the next 5 years if you were to receive 10,000 BT on: January 31, 2014, 06:02:11 PM
that is 720 jumps a day

sounds like a pain the fucking back but yea, i would do it  Cool

what if ur driving a car tho?? would have to step out the car and jump? if thats the case i might change my mind

Yes, you would need to stop driving and jump and drive again for 2 minutes. Or else if that wasn't the case it would be too easy.

The same applies, if you are in the heat of the moment reproducing with someone, you still need stop what you are doing and jump.

stop what im doing? no id work it into the rotation. girls love the jump thrust =)
68  Economy / Speculation / Re: Confirmed Bad News Sources Thread - No FUD, Just Facts!!!1 on: January 31, 2014, 05:29:04 PM
This is just too hilarious.  Also, I loved the way so many bitcoin n00bs who either unknowingly took Bitcoinlitecoinbtcltc and Proudhon seriously (and thus added to the FUD spreading), or were in on the joke and also added to the FUD spreading.  Classic.

To be honest, I think that bitcoinlitecoinbtcltc is serious.

Do you guys think he isn't? Take a look at his posts out of here...

bitcoinlitecoinbtcltc is the ONLY user i have on ignore, he either 1) believes it 2) is TRYING to make others believe it 3) if not 1  is not funny

and and we get the tag on proudhon changed from hero member to confirmed hero member?  i think its been earned after that ibtimes...
69  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you jump every 2 min for the next 5 years if you were to receive 10,000 BT on: January 31, 2014, 05:06:27 PM
Funny speculative question regarding if you would do this for 10,000 BTC's.

Mods, feel free to delete or move this post to Off-Topic if it is inappropriate. I just thought I'd poke a little fun this morning to help the time go by faster, and perhaps for others as well.

In my other post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=438417.0 I asked if you would cash out but never be able to purchase btc again for an upfront payment of $5,000 per BTC.

In this one, I ask:

For 10,000BTC, would you perform a jump every 2 min for the next 5 years? Failing to perform the jump would automatically result in Death.
If the bitcoins become worthless, you would still need to jump for the next 5 years.
If the bitcoins become millions each, then yeah more motivation to jump every 2 min for the next 5 years lol.

Other rules:

Yeah you don't need to jump during sleep maximum of 8 hours or while using the bathroom.
You still need to jump while eating or any other activities such as work.

ya id do it since theres a 8 hour break for sleep and im self employed. my stratagy would be to pull a trasy morgan and hire a few big black dudes to lift me up while i bend my knees every 2 min. thus performing the required jumps without my newly rich bones getting tired. =) im sure the first 2000 of 10000 should cover the first years work for them =)
70  Economy / Speculation / Re: In this thread list fears that exist in every Bitcoiner's mind. on: January 31, 2014, 04:56:22 PM
I live in Amsterdam, I doubt Eugene Oregon could begin to  compare with the amount of bikes used here.

some random numbers for you:

In 2006, there were about 1,000,000 bicycles in Amsterdam

in 2005, about 54,000 bicycles were stolen and every year between 12,000 and 15,000 bicycles are retrieved from the canals

ok your correct. haha but heres the best part, eugene only has 157,000 people, and they regularly make the top 10 lists for bike theft. id say on a per capita basis its nuts... i know people with attics full of stolen bikes and rooms wall to wall with stolen bikes hahahaha. im sorry ya lost so many bikes, not tryin to be a one upper or anything, i honestly thought ya lived here an i was gonna offer to take ya to a "bike store" =)
71  Economy / Speculation / Re: In this thread list fears that exist in every Bitcoiner's mind. on: January 31, 2014, 04:30:08 PM
1. My bike getting stolen, It would be the 6th Bike in a year, I maybe do live in the bike theft capital of the world though....
2. Sponge cake, mostly pink sponge makes me fearful though.
3. John Mongrel
4. strobe lights
5. my electric bill

you must live in eugene oregon. thats the bike stealing capital of the world, did you know that many top brand bike locks claim they will replace your bike if stolen anywhere but eugene?

edit: oh an my main fear is that ill lose the friends who i couldnt convince to buy bitcoin, i watch their bitterness grow every time we hang out =)

also i fear for the safety of my coins and my computers exploding and my bitcoins being gone forever, or my coins otherwise being stolen
72  Economy / Speculation / Re: january truly is the calm before the storm on: January 30, 2014, 10:07:18 PM
february should be interesting.

i like your reasoning considering that january is sort of over, and the next 28 days are called february.

i figured he left out the reasons because they have been covered in detail already. we all knew january would be stagnet do to down pressure from both china, and consolidation from last bubble. the down pressure from china has been known that it will end on jan 31 since december. we dont KNOW consolidation from last bubble has ended, but it appears the winklevii trust is making good progress in the last week and that would easily end the consolidation period and likely start a new bull run.
and then theres the fact that bitcoin is on tv more every day and the media exposure is going to help a TON.

people have to hear about something on average 11 times before they will put serious thought into something. it took me seeing bitcoin for about 3-5 months to take note of it, and it took till a real life person asked me about it to become serious. now i wish i had gotten on in <11 notices =)
73  Economy / Speculation / Re: We might not see cheap Coins anytime soon thanks to BTC China on: January 30, 2014, 08:45:04 PM
Thanks to BTCChina, it's likely that we might not see $500 BTC again. Market manipulation and fake volumes by Chinese exchanges like Huobi kept the price up in the previous weeks and now BTCChina is gearing up to take the prices back to $1000+ . It's also important to note that if prices are not allowed to consolidate properly like they should have due to fake volumes, Chinese exchanges maybe creating a really massive bubble out of Bitcoin.

Personally i was hoping for $500 BTC again to buy in cheap, but it seems my hopes for that are eroding. Whatever the price is in the next few days, i welcome it with open arms.

thoughts ?

but when will we see it over 1k, im not sure this news will effect anything until those transfers are able to go threw. granted i know many people have been holding back that are not from china that may jump in now, but as far as Chinese money flowing in, i think thats still several days off.

so true i had to quote it again =)

Watching for the past 2.5 hrs, I would have to say that was a different type of New Year's firework show.. Huh

good caramel bro, my first bitcoin buy was from your site and i enjoyed giving out those 8 boxes to friends. your site being easy to use was a very good first bitcoin tx
75  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin vulnerability on: January 30, 2014, 07:58:53 PM
there have been some good posts in this thread, and some of the best have been deleted, but it seems to me the only way for this problem to even exist is to use a program that does not generate the hash from a actually random set of variables. if something as silly as a time stamp is used as a seed thats dumb as fuck. I seem to remember mine being generated by filling a huge box with text at random by bashing my keyboard followed by having a moving my mouse all over the screen. that compared to a timestamp that can be guessed by a hacker within 2 hours doesnt even seem like a flaw in bitcoin, more of a flaw in the wallet design a few people choose to use.... nothing to see here...    correct me if im wrong tho please,
76  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin overvalued or ahead of schedule? on: January 30, 2014, 07:47:00 PM
Bitcoin is undervalued, in my opinion.

maybe, its coming to a funny point with some of my friends.

"if it goes up in value again ill know its a ok time to buy and it wont come crashing back down"

while also saying:

"its currently too high of a price, and theres no point buying a fraction of a coin, i want to say i have a full bitcoin because thats pretty cool"

so its like a catch-22 or something for people....

I remember reading months back on here that generally speaking people want to be poor and will avoid success at all costs. at the time I thought the person posting it was being a a bit of a jerk who was full of themselves. now im watching it happen.  oh sure ive gotten lots of friends on board, but i cant save them all an it sucks giving up on them and viewing them as lost to crypto. everyone of them has 20 for beer at game night, but that same 20$ cant goto bitcoin. HA! funny when I throw parties and tell them "this new years party, booze was funded with bitcoin" they like it but still cant see bitcoin is better than USD. my mind is blown every time...

77  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone is getting excited over the hearing, but remember what Warren said: on: January 28, 2014, 07:02:47 PM
“Be Fearful When Others Are Greedy and Greedy When Others Are Fearful” - Warren Buffett

Everyone is being greedy now, they will buy high and continue to buy high, until the price drops.

Being in fiat right now = a blessing.

thanks, i did this last week. i was greedy as fuck and bought it all. thanks yall fearful cheap sellers !!!! ill thanks yall even more in the coming weeks.

imma have to fix what buffet said tho, "be joyful when others are greedy and greedy when they are fearful" ~ the coinpharmer.

79  Economy / Economics / Re: Businesses that *spend* bitcoin? on: January 27, 2014, 07:06:19 PM
this would be good to see, but I would more almost more interested in seeing what companies horde some of the the bitcoin they gain from sales.
80  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish week, take care!! on: January 27, 2014, 06:54:04 PM
A Bitcoin forum filled with people exciting about Bitcoin.

You don't say?

Speculation forum should be filled with people who want to make money and not 95% bulltards who only hodl all the time.

Yeah, because holding Bitcoin has been a terrible way to "make money" the last three years. LOL.

I'm sure at some point things will change and one day people will pay you to take their bitcoins, but until then...

@dalmar, personally i think there should be a balance all of sort, holders, bulls and bear. maybe a troll/fudster or 2.  the troll and fud count is high right now though. my reason as a buy and holder for being in this sub forum is to be able to spot the dips and top up on dips. I have no plans to sell in order to buy more, because i watch people lose BTC and $ trying to do that. gamblers always think they cant lose, and though this has more skill involved, you cant be sure of whats next as matthecat's ravings have shown us this month.

@holliday +1

and thanks for the thread there is some bad news in the pipeline with russia and the VP arrested, but i dont think those things matter to most people. i dont see anything big playing out till end of month. january is still holiday season and the world is focusing on family or planning future business moves after done spending time with family but not currently making those moves.
