Ok got same problem as you now on my other computer so will see if I can sort it later sorry for this

Yeah, the files are slightly corrupted because you copied them while your wallet was active, you're lucky your wallet was still able to start! If you decide to do it again, you must leave your wallet powered off while you copy the files to a new dir/upoload them to google drive Smiley

Thanks for helping the community out though! Smiley

nothing fancy just a r9 270x not had a block since that picture though Sad

"Nothing fancy" he says... As I'm getting 120 MH/s with a GTX660.

Also, miners rejoice! Mining difficulty should be dropping to around 600 at block 20160!

I'm getting an error while synchronizing the credit wallet (bitcoin is already sync)
It hapens at the coin age of 5 weeks.

"Error moving claim tip. "Expected active credits block: 0000000078.....0004f, was 000000001b......203a."
"Credits Failed to connect best block"
Only option is to pres OK and the wallet closes/crashes...
Tried also the older versions, but same issue.
Any advise on that?

Thanks.

"2a) Open up command prompt and navigate to where you have the credits-qt.exe located.
2b) type: start credits-qt.exe -checklevel=2 -reindex"

Or you could download the Bitcoin blockchain and reinstall the credits client along with its binaries. Cheesy Reindexing is a pain and takes forever. :I

The blockchain download might take as long as a reindex

Especially with the new size-on-disk! Took me no time to reindex from the previous version Smiley

First reward adjustment coming very soon!

The very first reward adjustment will happen in about 30 blocks! The reward will update from 40 CRE per block to 45 CRE per block!

Get your miners started if you don't have them running already. We are on the lower side of the S-curve, and the mining reward will continue to rise in the coming months and years!

Extremely exciting news! The block reward update and the new improved client harddrive footprint are great for the Credits project!
Rumor has it a new website might be going up as well for an easy way to get ahold of Credits information and services.

Rumour eh Wink

Also,  a new user downloaded the torrent at 2 MB/s and in less than an hour.

That's nuts. We're on a good track here, team.

Edit: was wrong, seems I overexageratted Wink

Finally! My working directory is no longer over 9000 GB. This should hopefully get third party exchanges more willing to get our client and list us though Smiley All is on the up and up for CRE! All board!

Note: So far I haven't had any issues with the new wallet, but will post here if I have any troubles!
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CREDITS [CRE] | SHA256 | SIDECHAIN | NEW BLOCK-DEPOSIT FEATURE | OFFICIAL THREAD on: June 02, 2015, 10:50:30 PM
Awesome news I can't wait hopefully the trimming will bring more new users onto the Credits train. keep up the awesome work Gabriel Cheesy

Agreed! I'm super pumped! It will also give exchanges an easier time trying to list us, as they don't need an additional 48 GB of space Smiley

Regardless, I'm trying to set up BTC deposits for CRE on creditsdice.com, which is technically a mini-exchange, where you can't place orders however. I think gabriel is working on setting up a third party exchange while we wait for bittrex.com and ccex and poloniex to respond!

Downloaded the latest wallet installer but it's not syncing.

Please help me.

What OS and what error are you getting from the debug log?
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CREDITS [CRE] | SHA256 | SIDECHAIN | NEW BLOCK-DEPOSIT FEATURE | OFFICIAL THREAD on: June 01, 2015, 05:32:21 PM
Results from tests trimming the working directory

Preliminary tests in trimming the working directory of Credits indicate that substantial gains can be found.

Size before trimming, approximately 45GB
Size after trimming, approximately 12GB

Further gains can be had, but it requires large changes to the internal functionality of Credits, to decouple the Bitcoin blockchain further. This development will be performed in the following months.

There are two main drawbacks to shrinking the working dir by trimming older Bitcoin blocks:
1. -reindex CAN NOT be done after the Bitcoin blockchain has been trimmed. This should not be a problem under normal usage.
2. It is for the time being unclear if -bitcoin_rescan will work as intended. This usually does not matter for a regular Credits user.

As soon as a new version of the wallet is ready for release, more info will be posted here.

Thanks for all the efforts. After the trimming, can we still use the BTC blockchain to send/receive with bitcoin Core?

Yes, you will still be able to perform all functions except those two listed above Smiley

A request for comments has been posted in the alt coin section. It is listed here below as well, for ease of reference.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1074489.new#new

-----------------------------------------

This is a request for comments regarding updates to the Credits difficulty retarget algorithm.

Background:
The Credit blockchain is generated from a combined proof-of-work/proof-of-deposit system. This deposit system is still coming into effect as the blockchain evolves and it will start to have larger effects on the block creation process in approximately two months time. At the moment it is unknown what the effects on the difficulty and block creation process will be when deposit starts to have a larger impact. An adjustment of the difficulty retargeting mechanism is therefore suggested, to allow for faster adaption of the difficulty in case of varying deposit and processing power inputs. Faster adaption of the difficulty will also prevent the block creation process from being stuck to long in a too high difficulty.

Suggested adjustment:
Credits has so far been using the same difficulty retargeting mechanism as Bitcoin. That means that an adjustment of the difficulty happens every 2016 block. If the block creation process has been longer than two weeks for the latest 2016 blocks, the difficulty will rise, and it will fall if the block creation process has been faster. The difficulty adjustment is capped with a factor of 4 up or down, to prevent too large swings in difficulty.

The suggested adjustment of the retargeting mechanism is to have more frequent adjustments, with a lower cap for each adjustment. The retargeting period should be lowered to 1/8 of 2016 blocks, which means a difficulty adjustment every 252 blocks. The cap would be a factor of 1.25 for each period, giving a maximum difficulty adjustment of 5.96 over a period of 2016 blocks, as compared to Bitcoins 4.

An alternative proposal would be adjustment every 504 blocks, with a cap of 1.5. This would give a maximum adjustment of 5.06 for every 2016 blocks.

The new retargeting algorithm would be scheduled to start to have effect somewhere at block 24000 to 26000, or later if deemed necessary.

Just gave my opinion, anyone agree/disagree with me?
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CREDITS [CRE] | Request for comments | Difficulty retarget algorithm adjustment on: May 30, 2015, 12:05:35 AM
In my opinion, the rule change is welcomed and solid at 252 blocks, but the factor of 1.25x per retarget period of 252 seems a bit low, if you wanted an adaptable coin with an adaptable difficulty, I'd go for a cap of 1.5 for each period of 252 blocks.

Just my two cents, and ultimately you're the one making the decisions based off the communities input Smiley I'm a firm believer in the shorter the retargetting period, the better.

a design i did that never won

You made that for a previous coin that was also called Credits? I think Gabriel was looking for a graphic designer for some infographics and general banners also, He'll see this when he wakes up and most likely PM you haha.

Large reduction of working dir for Credits, preliminary test results and release plan

Test are ongoing with trimming of the built in Bitcoin blockchain to reduce the size of the working directory. Preliminary results indicate that large reductions are possible.

A test trimming of the testnet working dir has been done.
Size before reduction, 2.77GB.
Size after reduction, 0.7GB.
This is a reduction to 25% of the original size. Larger gains are expected on mainnet.

The target size for mainnet is 3-8GB.

Further announcements will be done here soon. Release planned to be done within a week.

Nice work man, this is such a huge move! More users will be able to get credits running on their machine, and make the rest of our lives so much easier. Infinite vibes.

Is the CPU hashing speed of Credit similar to bitcoin CPU hashing rate?

Yeah, but it's not extremely viable to CPU mine against the GPU mines, unless you have a CPU farm or something along those lines Smiley

Is it possible to set the number of threads/cpu cores for mining? Which SSE instruction set is required? I have the G1610.

What is the total hash rate at present?

What is the speed for stock 280X?

I don't have the 280X, but I think I remember a user saying they were getting 700 MH/s or around there.

Total hashrate dropped from 4 Gh/s to around 2.4 Gh/s in the last couple days as BTCtalk was down, but is recovering. We think a user had a GPU rig with a couple high end cards, but he switched his rig off for a bit.

As for CPU mining, I'm not familiar with the exact SSE instructions but I know you can set the # of threads used with the command from the wallet's debug window: "setgenerate true NumberOfCoresHere"

News for exchange?

I'm actually working on setting up a CRE exchange right now! It will be secure, and use Credits as a base market for other coins, meaning you could buy/sell CRE with/for any other cryptocurrency! I think this would be huge for us, as the amount of volume not increases because users want credits, but if they want a new coin which is only listed on CreditsExchange.com, they would need to go through the credits market to get that new coin.

If anyone has any food for thought or wants to contribute, let me know!

Gabriel is working on this instead, but we are also approaching exchanges!

Sidenote: Creditsdice.com now has keyboard betting active unless chatting, and we're offering a 1 CRE tip to new users!

Hey folks, I'm trying to create a gambling site for Credits [CRE] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1037244.0).

I'm at 95% completion, however I'm having huge difficulties getting withdrawals to process on my server side. I'm searching for anyone that wishes to jump on bustacredit.com's team, or just help out with minor code tweaks to get things running smoothly.

PM me if you're interested, and we can discuss how will receive compensation Smiley

Cheers, Greydon

I think a campaign owner can kick someone out anytime though he should pay for those posts that are quality enough to be paid. The minimum post per week doesnt match since the user hadnt the chance to post all week.

It sounds a bit strange to decide that there is not enough money to pay all or that one dont want to pay. Since everyone has a contract then the contract has to be changed. It cant be decided onesided because the participant would have taken another signature campaign if he would have known. It would be a break of contract to decide to kick and not to pay. I mean you could have hire 100 posters and decide that 90 of them dont meet your quality after 6 days. Then not pay them. Thats not how it works.

So paying the quality posts and kicking would be the way to go.

That's what's happening, yeah.

By all means, pay zorrocoin his deserved amount, my opinion clearly wasn't proper. Magic8Ball I'm okay with you paying him out via the held BTC Smiley

Glad you come to a settlement here, as you just said "pay zorrocoin his deserved amount". Your opinion does matter and was proper if.. You never kicked him half way threw the week because lack of funds to pay all members, this should have all been worked out and funds expenditures totalled before you accepted them into the campaign to avoid any of this that has happened. Live and learn so they say. I agree with the other guy being questionable at best, he was on a posting mission just 2minutes between posts and that is not bringing constructiveness to any thread how would he read and then take the time to write the post lol I agree that you are very lucky not to be banned "Miftach"

For the record, it wasn't a lack of funds, it was a lack of willingness to pay out such a high amount to users which we felt were not generating our "moneys-worth" of advertising. Hope everyone understands this, and we can move on with our crypto lives Wink

For the record you may want to stand by your word, Here let me remind you ...

So, a valid reason for cutting members of the campaign is that, we don't have the bankroll to pay out 30+ users.

So my point remains and there is no need to lie! You never had enough to pay for 30+ users when like I said you should have done simple calculations, what would be the most you will need to pay out and how far would 1btc go toward this, would you have funds left over would it be to much etc etc. Anyway enough of the lessons how to do things properly but don't make out I can't read and make your mind up what the reason for not paying him is, because it is not very clear when you change what you mean a day later  Wink

What? I'm not lying, I'm not even the one funding the campaign. Paying out 1.2 BTC per week for an average of 80 clicks was not worth the money. The funding third party agreed, and although HE HAD the bitcoin to continue the compaign at whatever rate, he and I agreed we shouldn't. We started with cutting the number of users, and then completely shut down the campaign when we didn't see much attraction generated from the campaign.

And Magic8Ball, I could care less whether he apologizes as he definitely will not *mean* it if he does, so just pay him the amount and we can move on.
