61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: October 13, 2011, 07:07:45 PM

Typo on the worker page, it's _1 and password 1, not letters sorry.
Still something wrong with stats - I've been mining for 10 mins but no stats (still 0 active workers), then it logged me out

How many shares did you submit? Stats aren't updated, because there are not submitted blocks.

I've had 3 computers hashing at this for an hour and no shares... somethings wrong.

I recompiled everything, even switched back over to the testnet but no one is on it for me to see if it still works there. All I did was remove testnet=1 and added the nonce and stuff and restarted everything. I updated to the latest versions of litecoin, nothing.

I don't know what the difference between testnet and litecoin main is, but the pool isn't working.

Anyone smarter than me I'll share a % with you if you can help me get this running. I don't know what to do from here though. I've recompiled pushpool from artforz and litecoin with no additional positive response.

Litecoin pool. Consider it experimental right now , and toss a core on it and register real quick. It worked perfectly on the testnet. Now it's giving me a longpool every minute exactly, and I haven't had a share in 15 minutes from one computer. Stats are all reset and it is pointed to the production server.

Give me some feedback and I'll go from there.

D:\Tenebrix-pack>minerd.exe --algo scrypt --s 6 --threads 2 --url http://184.107.145.244:8332 --userpass xxxxx_a:a
[2011-10-13 20:00:45] HTTP request failed: The requested URL returned error: 403
[2011-10-13 20:00:45] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds
[2011-10-13 20:00:47] 2 miner threads started, using SHA256 'scrypt' algorithm.
[2011-10-13 20:01:16] HTTP request failed: The requested URL returned error: 403
[2011-10-13 20:01:16] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds

I think the worker user/pass is not <LTC_address>_a:a, <LTC_address>_b:b but <LTC_address>_1:1, <LTC_address>_2:2 and so on

Typo on the worker page, it's _1 and password 1, not letters sorry.

More and more people realize, that their BTCs will lose value because of other chains being innovative and BTC not, so they jump on the FUD-train?  Grin

I sincerely hope you are not suggesting that SC2 innovated anything... Centralize the decentralized. Hardly innovation.

I'm considering opening my pool tonight so you can connect now, and then when the info is released for the main, I can make the switch and all the miners will update automatically.

On the flip side of the coin, doing so I am afraid will make the first blocks a cluster fuck of orphans and everyone will get pissed off.

Thoughts are more than welcome. My original thoughts were to wait until a couple of difficulty changes. Being as the time switch for most of us will be while we normally sleep, I thought one person awake might be better than all of us.

Oh, and if anyone wants some testnet coins, give me an address and I'll send you 10,000.

I'm inclined to ask you to wait for a day or so so we can get an established chain going.  Difficulty initially will be low enough that no one would benefit from using a pool anyway.  This hopefully will change quickly.

That's already the plan. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't needed/wanted because of the time of the switch over. I have not released the address to the pool so even though I'll have my miners pointed at it, no one else will be able to use it yet.

Okay, I have a pool set up for litecoin. Testing on the testnet currently, works just fine. Doesn't work very well right now with 1 share per block. But, it works.

I've tested it inside and out of this networking using the latest miner for tenebrix and using the pushpool fork by artforz for tenebrix. Works like magic. Simple interface, just use a litecoin address to register, and it automatically creates workers like this: yourlitecoinaddress_1:1, yourlitecoinaddress_2:2

I'll start that maybe the day after or something when difficulty increases a little bit.

I'm also working on an exchange. Are there any other exchanges planned? I just wanted it to go from like lc<->btc, lc<->tbx ? None of the fancy charts like on btc-e but would be text based like bitparking.

Are there any other exchanges in the works, or should I push on with this hard? I'd love to be the first and only but if the big players like bitparking and btc-e have exchanges up there is no sense in me competing.

Stop arguing with bananala and have a real discussion. Just ignore the guy... someone put a don't feed the trolls image here.

Are there any exchanges in the works, or should I continue development? I don't really want to spend the time on the code since there are dozens of other exchanges that could added the capabilities much easier than I can.

... Running the miner with sudo Huh
Please, do not do that!

Not what I normally do but making sure it has all the permission it needs to run. I think there is a problem with the linux miner. Does anyone successfully have the linux miner working? I now have the GUI working in linux, but the miner still fails an an ubuntu desktop install now.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: September 26, 2011, 05:31:29 PM
I get the same SIGSEGV strace that eskimo gets. Where is the headless build for linux? I do the build, and only get a bitcoin-qt exe. This is a remote box, and I'm not going to install x server on this box.Am I missing the headless build? In the windows binaries, there is a d version but I don't see it after I make the git repo.

I set up a windows box, and set up an RPC server. Tested from another windows machine, no problems. When I connect the miner to it, it fails. If the username and password are wrong, it binds, and never works. But if I supply valid credentials, it segfaults. This is ubuntu 11.04 32 bit. Running the miner with sudo Huh

I hope you guys read Xenland's posts before you trust his site.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=41955.0

He says he is security minded but doesn't care about doing security in his open source projects that are security basics 101. He introduces some lame small bounty for hacking his site. Really? I can win bitcents finding exploits or I can hack your user database or steal coins. Which one do you think sounds better to a hacker? Then he says he purposely puts in security problems so he can monitor them and plug them later. Just absolutely epic. Welcome to Xenland's project. The next GOXED.
75  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need Help Starting an exchange on: September 07, 2011, 08:46:35 PM
You seem to think I solely rely on the operation of my PHP coding skills. Not true, just like any web software I would personally audit all outgoing and incoming transactions just as I'm doing right now. I have honey-pots planted not just in the programming but in the way I do business, I'm waiting for people to attempt to steal from me so I can catch it and patch up the holes personally my self before I lose any money.

Let me just translate what I just said in this post "I feel as if I'm way more intelligent then I did 5 minutes ago, just by what you said".

Okay. This just keeps getting better. Not only do you ignore security 101 on free projects because they are not important. Nope, it gets better. In your paid projects- you put in exploits so that you can monitor them and then patch them up afterwards? I could only hope that users see this thread before they use your site. Too bad they will trust your lack of security skills because they read your sig line that says you are an 8 year PHP veteran. What a joke. Take your github repository down before someone loses coins because of you.
76  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need Help Starting an exchange on: September 07, 2011, 08:29:37 PM
Exactly well I don't go the mile for un-paid projects I just write then with security in mind. I had better things to do like CheaperInBitcoins.com I paid testers/hackers to attempt to gain access to my database and the whole website came back clean at best, someone was able to display JavaScript codes, but only to him self. LOL Thanks for bringing back the nostolgia of my MiningFarm days bra!

But yeah the user "wannaBhacker" for somereason took my suggestion and made his suggestion so I'll stroke his ego and agree with the suggestion he suggested, your basically not ready to create an exchange unless you hire a coder(i could have sworn I said this in my first post?)

What? That's what you got from my post? You ignore security on your free projects? That just sounds stupid. Maybe English isn't your first language so I'll chalk that up to a translation error. SQL Injection prevention is PHP / MySQL 101. If you skip that on your free projects remind me to never both with any of your paid products. 8 years experience my ass. Why would someone tell you about a security loophool for your bounty of bitcents? When they can wait for customers to access your site and potentially steal thousands? Bravo brains. If you want to make a security bounty worthwhile put some real money behind it. Otherwise real hackers will cash in when its worth it to them.
77  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need Help Starting an exchange on: September 07, 2011, 08:09:35 PM
Need some general direction to start an exchange.

I haven't coded web pages or PHP for a very long time.

I was thinking a long the lines of a LAMP server.
Is that a good idea? I assume its security is as good as it is set up.
Problem is, I've never done it before.

Any input appreciated to get me started in the right direction.

This is just me but if your not up to par with php security techniques I would suggest hiring a coder.
I've been PHP programming as a hobby for 8 years, not just a hobby but like a passion i would say I digress, I always program with security in mind even if its a "dinky" little project but as much as I research about XSS attacks and mysql injection attacks and every-other attack out their I still don't know everything, this is why i suggest hiring a coder becuase it doesn't look good when you get GOXED or anything of the sort that will make people very pissed off at you.

Or get PHP5 book that is specifically written with security in mind would help!

I've recommend PHP5 by O'reilly but I'm sure their are better books out there

Xenland- really?

The last post on your open source project https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=10617.260 Shows that you are taking raw Get requests and passing them directly to MySQL. It also says you have a vulnerability regarding password resets. These were posted almost a month ago and you haven't bothered to update them in Github. An 8 year veteran with a security mind probably wouldn't build the SQL Injection issues into the earlier versions of his code. Those simple things would just be the way it is programmed.

If you want to know how to start an exchange you're probably not ready to start an exchange without getting some solid minds behind you. Just because someone says they are a PHP veteran with 8 years experience doesn't mean they are other. You can be anything you want to on the internet and that's probably why so many coins are stolen.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 16, 2011, 12:36:42 AM
Why not change the difficulty at 1/4 the blocks? Like 504 or even less than that like every 126 blocks? Then you don't have to do the minutes, or if you did, the difficulty could change every couple of days and be much more fluid.

I posted this on btcguilds thread:

Quote
Invalid blocks are crazy and each block is mined in seconds.

I don't know your total involvement with i0 coin, but a suggestion should be made to start the difficulty > 1 or there will be tons of invalids and it would be easy for an attacker or pool with a lot of ghash to take over such a young low difficulty blockchain.

Start the difficulty out at even 64 or 128 and the blocks will still fly fast but at 1 a pool will be fighting over their own shares for which one is first.

Sorry everyone this was the 20th address thanks for posting hehe

I didn't get any coins. Yes, I have ix coin installed. That's where I got the address from. I was several posts before your quoted last one.

I don't know if there is a block explorer for ixcoin, but nothing is in the wallet and I tried a rescan.
