61  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 27, 2014, 07:44:57 AM

Those will all show up tomorrow. Possibly wed in a few rare cases, but the majority will be there tomorrow. Those went out USPS

Excellent, thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye out for the mailman today. They have a bad habit of dumping my packages on the porch and running.  Wink

Depends on where you are in the US. We plotted everyone out to figure out which route and shipping method would get there fastest. Everything is coming express, so you will be from tomorrow to thursday Smiley

Awesome, or should I say GAWsome!  Cheesy

Quick question; Will we also be getting a separate tracking number for the ZenMiners as well?
63  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 27, 2014, 05:26:16 AM
I Have tracking number, DHL ship from Hong Kong 1 Fury miner

Yup; looks like they are coming fresh from the factory in Hong Kong. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to fly over to the US and clear customs with the express DHL GAW shipped them with? If it's only a day then it looks like we'll be seeing them by Wednesday.  Grin

Looks like GAW may have beaten Zeus in providing tracking numbers.  Wink

Let's narrow it down.

So it includes

Luke
Jeff
Amanda
Joe
And I

Luke - Fury
Jeff - War Machine
Amanda - Black Widow
Joe - Falcon
Josh - Big Gun - Of course the CEO is the Big Gun.  Cheesy

We're running a promotion until 10 PM Eastern time tomorrow (About 30.5 hours from this post) for a FREE Shipped Fury (Week 2) for 1 Winner!

The contest theme is:

Come up with the coolest use of the word GAW!

Examples:

GAWesome
Run! It's GAWdzilla!

Rules for this promo:

  • You must have an account older than this post.
  • You may post up to 3 ideas.
  • Be original! You may not copy others' ideas directly (slight alterations - like taking GAWesome and making it GAWesomeness - are not allowed.
  • Your posts must be submitted to this thread to be eligible!
  • No profanity, hate, abusive, etc. entries. They will get deleted and you will be disqualified automatically.

Thank you and we can't wait to see what you can come up with!!

1. Mount KilimanGAWro - GAW's Project Prime is going to use bring a mountain load of hashing power to the masses.

2. GAWseidon - Poseidon is the brother of Zeus. Seeing how the generation A miners are using Zeus chips I found this fitting.  Wink

3. The GAWguska Event - From what we've heard about Project Prime; it sounds like the Scrypt mining scene is about to experience its own Tunguska event. The Tunguska event was the largest impact event on or near Earth in recorded history. You can read more about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunguska_event. Seems like a fitting name for what GAW is proposing with Project Prime.  Grin

how is everyone's hosted Fury miner doing during these first days?

Mine was doing 1+ Mh/s earlier on but now seem to be around 30Kh/s...getting this reading at 2 different pools

You're going to want to contact support. With a launch this large / new facilities there's bound to be a few hiccups.

I believe that they want people to contact them about hosting issues at: hostedsupport@gawminers.com

My miners have been up and running for a few hours now so I thought I'd report the hash rates I'm seeing.

Black Widows - portal and poolside, 18MH/s!
Fury - portal, 1MH/s, poolside, 1.6-1.8MH/s!

Wow, I am beyond happy. GAW delivered early and the miners are producing way over advertised hash rate. What more could you ask for? Awesome. Cool

Only down side is instead of taking those $750 used G-blades of your hands I'm gonna have to buy another Black Widow now. Cheesy

Looks like GAW was very conservative on their hash rate estimates! It'll be interesting to see if the hash rate increases in the future with new firmware releases.

Speaking of the shipped miners; hopefully we'll get tracking numbers soon seeing how it's the 26th now.  Grin

This has nothing to do with GAW, but if anyone wants to see an actual photo of a Blizzard, check it out.

Thanks for the pics.

*I better get bigger pockets, cause that's not "Pocket Size".  Shocked

Can one remove that FAN that is like placed in such a bad spot (stacking wise), how do you stack these ?

I'm sure I'll be taking those fans off (gridseed 2.0). I'm thinking of putting several on their side and hitting them with one exterior (quiet) fan.

That might work if they're not stacked too high. We are talking about ~35w of heat that needs to be dissipated so at the least you're going to need a fan blowing on them. GridSeed's are only using about 6-8w of heat; huge difference.

I'm just going to leave the fans on mine; longer lifespan for the components on the pcb, happy chips and higher clock speed.

No - its regular clear rasp pi case comes with SD card already in it.... There is a GAW sticker on the bottom, and a login code for zenminer on the side (not including code in these pictures). I did NOT get a tracking # when they were shipped. I actually had no idea what the packages were at first. I'm assuming USPS (?). They were on my doorstep when I got home.

Thanks for the shipping information. Looks like I'll have to keep an eye out for a package either today or tomorrow.

Looks like a solid kit.

Hello,

Zenminer is making us custom cases, they just could not make them fast enough for the launch. We had close to 1,000 that needed to be sent out Smiley

They are finishing the last bit of touches on the ui, so they disabled the login for now (as you already know)

New firmware working great, lots of extra power. But if I told what it was, it would not be a surprise now would it be? Smiley

Thank you for at least including cases. I was a bit worried that it would just be the bare Raspberry Pi board with the SD card. I'll be looking forward to the firmware surprise.  Cheesy

I'm located in Connecticut - everything I received was shipped from Mass in 3 separate boxes. My earliest order was on 5/6/14... I've placed 3 others since then (including re-order for paypal refund). I have 3 Furys en route + 1 Black widow (BW is last order placed last week).

Did you get a tracking number when they were shipped? Did USPS, UPS, Fedex deliver them?

Now I have to wait at home to see if a package arrives today with the ZenMiners.  Sad

Awesome news that the miners shipped early and will be arriving next week. Also, it'll be interesting to see what kind of hash rate we all can hit with the new firmware. \Grin/
71  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - NEXT GEN ASIC on: May 23, 2014, 11:35:00 PM

Thanks! We think so too Smiley

To meet our timeline, they put it on a RPI for us.

In the future, the zencontroller will become a embedded device

Thanks for the information.

A quick tip for anyone who hasn't used a Raspberry Pi before: If you're going to connect one than one (Non-USB powered miner like the ones GAW is selling) to the Raspberry Pi; use a powered USB hub between the Pi and the miners. Although it should be ok without a hub; I've found it to be a lot more stable with a powered hub.

The Raspberry Pi's themselves are powered over USB, and due to this they can't put much juice out of the 2 USB ports (Pretty much 1/4 power of a normal USB port).

This is especially important if you're going to use one of the USB stick miners that draw all of their power from the USB port.

Well, I guess the cat out of the bag lol.

We are excited about out partnership with these guys. They have some really cool stuff planed.

Additionally, we are including one with every pre-order miner we are shipping Smiley

When you say "Every" you also mean the shipped Fury miners?  Smiley  Hopefully.

Sounds like it!

Yep:)

\ Grin /  That's GAWsome! So the hardware is a Raspberry Pi and the Zenminer software comes on an SD card? Just wondering if the Raspberry Pi has been modified physically?

Here are the official power numbers:

Fury- 25-35w
Black Widow- 320-380w
Falcon- 640-760w
War Machine- 1280-1520w

The range depends on the difficulty of the pool and a few other factors. Note: these numbers are before the over clocking.

Hope this clears things up.

Please send questions and request directly to: info@gawminers.com

Thanks!

Thanks for posting these. Seems that the power usage is a bit lower then Zeusminers; which is good news. Do you guys have any preliminary numbers for overclocking? (Hashrate wise)  Grin

Just asked support what the zenminer controller is, apparently there will be an announcement coming out later today.  Smiley

Exciting.  Grin

Thanks for the update. Now I'll be glued to my computer waiting for the announcement.

Did anyone else get an email from GAWMiners (Through Amazon Marketplace) about a Zenminer Controller shipping soon?  Huh

Maybe it's one of the surprises that was hinted at a few days ago? Hopefully  Cool
Yes, got that this morning too

Any idea what it is?  Cheesy

I'm guessing it's either a custom Raspbery Pi like controller, or custom software needed to mine with the miners?

Edit: Only had ordered 2 Fury miners so it must be something included . . .

Hey we never got an answer what is in these things as opposed to what is in the zeus machines.  I wouldn't care so much except that the power consumption figures on these devices is way higher than it should be.  Since you mentioned blizzard I'll use that as an example.  Blizzard is rated 15 watts and does 1.26MH/s but fury is rated 35 watts for 1MH/s.  Even if we assume the hashing will turn out the same, why does it use almost 2.5 times the power?

The Blizzards will actual be using about 40w of power for about 1.3MH. I'm not sure how Zeus managed to be so far off on the power numbers.  Huh
I'm going to take a wild guess and say that the Fury will end up about the same spec wise.

The Lightening miners from Zeus use 3200w now . . .

Seems like GAW Miners's miners will be more energy efficient by a bit. Hopefully  Grin

Hi! It is stock dependent. So it would depend on when you order.

Week One is officially sold out!

Thanks for the orders Smiley Off to get the miners staged. If your order got held due to paypal, and you were looking for a week one miner, we will open a a short window for you to get your orders in once the refund is complete.

PS, we have a special surprise for you guys Smiley hehe

Is that opportunity to order week one miners due to PayPal holding the refund only for those who originally ordered week one miners? I have a week two Fury miner (PayPal pre-order) that I might want to upgrade to week one if that's an option. If not then no big deal, but just wondering.  Smiley

Special surprise? Can't wait to hear more about it! Grin

Looks like the week 1 shipped Fury are missing from the site now. Looks like they may have sold out?  Smiley
