61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 40%+ SuperStake in 30+ days on: August 01, 2014, 02:43:11 PM
Can anyone confirm they have staked recently?

Depends what 'recently' is... Last time I staked was on the 29th... I have a block that I'm waiting for now, but so far it's less than a whole day beyond the 30 day period...
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 40%+ SuperStake in 30+ days on: July 30, 2014, 01:36:05 AM
TEK at one point had $7k daily volume. If that had been sustained, 30-60 people could be living pretty comfortably on selling stake alone a month. I don't think it will take much to have that sort of continuous demand in place again, especially if the interest in crypto in general rises.

I remember when I first got into crypto around November and liking both TEK and HBN especially, so I know that a certain percentage of noobs will be looking for the same things I was.

Main thing is we need to have people who can live with not getting money that day. Like wasn't there a dude on here who dumped 5k TEK to pay bills or something? Spread that over a week, don't just kill buy walls. Better yet, do an OTC deal or something like that.

Yep, the price was in the 50's at the time, I think.. Or at least the late 40's... As the saying goes, only invest what you can afford to lose. We're all in this together, and we gotta look after the coin - because if we do, I'm sure that it's gonna help look after us, which is half the aim of a PoS coin, isn't it...?

I'd love to be able to help in some way with the promotion of TEK... The only thing I can offer in trade though is my band's CD and t-shirts!

Everyone receiving their end of month stakes. Expect dumps for the next few weeks...

As for me, I never dump. I buy them. I sell small amounts. I want the value of this coin to increase.

Next few weeks? lol its been dumping for a few weeks so does it ever stop? In all seriousness though it would not take a lot of buy pressure to go right back up near 100k...just depends on how anxious people are to dump for quick profits...

Yes , exactly  there is a lot of DUMP and not at least a 50% rebuy from those dumpers to keep it at a good line . No they dump good and the dumpers are the big bag holders of TEK ........ Smiley I don't want to point out fingers but the direction isnt good .

If you put 1 orange in and get 1.4 back ....buy back 0.2 . Just saying ..... but the dumpers gonna dump and its sad because the dumpers who can dump that much amounts are the big bag holders that have huge amounts and they are just dumping their PURE STAKE and cash in without caring . .

Well if they keep doing that without some catalyst for new investors eventually their principal will be nearly worthless at some point. Maybe they ROI'd long ago and just don't care but its pretty stupid to kill the market when they could maximize profits by either supporting or at least letting the market recover from profit taking.

Exactly... So what can the average investor do to help maintain the price? When it comes to releasing some coins into the marketplace, I sure as heck don't plan to dump them all in one go, and I don't understand those that do - trickle feed and surely the market will catch up... But other than that, what can the average Joe do to help?

Taken from the paper - there goes anonymity if you're dealing with a company based in NY State...

Records of Virtual Currency transactions. Each Licensee shall maintain the following information for all transactions involving the payment, receipt, exchange or conversion, purchase, sale, transfer, or transmission of Virtual Currency: the identity and physical addresses of the parties involved, the amount or value of the transaction, including in what denomination purchased, sold, or transferred, the method of payment, the date(s) on which the transaction was initiated and completed, and a description of the transaction.
(2) Reports on transactions. When a Licensee is involved in a transaction or series of transactions for the receipt, exchange, conversion, purchase, sale, transfer, or transmission of Virtual Currency, in an aggregate amount exceeding the United States dollar value of $10,000 in one day, by one Person, the Licensee shall notify the Department, in a manner prescribed by the superintendent, within 24 hours.

And theState also takes a fee for providing a licence...
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 5000%+ SuperStake a year on: July 16, 2014, 11:42:10 AM
Any plans for stopping the dump?  from 0.001 back to 0.000225... in ~23days..

People just dumping large amounts of stake instead of placing sell orders and waiting for the market to catch up? And price-wise we all seem to suffer as a result - including those that are selling their stake, I'd guess...

It is always easier to blame someone or something else instead of yourself for buying at too high price. If prior to investing you switched to all-time graph at Cryptsy you would
see that the latest pump lasted very long and upped the price for over 1500% so if you bought at pump late stage or once dump started it is just your fault. Next time do some
research before investing.

No, I'm holding my hands up and admitting quite readily that I bought SOME of my TEK at the wrong time. Just making the observation that people seem to be selling in big chunks rather than trickle-feeding, that's all.

did we bottom yesterday? looks like TEK is starting to rebound. Low of 29k yesterday to high of 48k today that is some nice action. Big spreads and swings seems like a traders dream.

I did notice that... maybe a few of us have been waiting for the stake to come through! I know that I'm a lot happier now that my first block has come through!
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 40% SuperStake in 30 days on: July 10, 2014, 07:36:52 PM
RESULT! It's come through! Phew - sorry for the false alarm, but I really wasn't sure it would work, seeing as I'm only running my wallet on a VM! But it did, and my coins have finally started to stake! Happier now that I know that they can, and what to expect!

Plus... it looks like the block explorer is getting back up and running too... Now we just need the price to go up to where it was and stay there!
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin sha256 PoS/Pow 40% SuperStake in 30 days on: July 10, 2014, 02:55:18 PM
I just wish you could kinda speed up the whole stake process... I now have 2 blocks that i'm waiting to stake - one from 3 1/2 days ago that now has a weighting of 645 and another one from today which has got a little weight to it as well...

Wallet is unencrypted, no conf file (it crashes when I set one up, even with 3 simple lines, running the exe on a VM), but still nothing...

Still no block explorer either - server error (500)
Just be more patient. My 3 small blocks (~120Tek) needed about 35 days.. big blocks stake a lot faster..

35?! Wow! How often was your wallet open? And can you remember the weighting they got to? The average size of my own blocks is about 200 coins at the moment...

Thundertoe,

Any idea when then block explorer is gonna be back up?

This question has been asked several times over the past week. Is there no one who is able to provide an answer?

sorry i don't have any additional info other than whats already posted on the thread, atm.

If you hear anyting, let us know! It's quite a useful tool!

Any idea on the stake I'm still waiting for? The wallet should work without any problems on a VM, shouldn't it?

it should be fine on the vm, your showing weight then you just have to wait. i just had a block of about 200 stake looks like from 6/7 sometime

Thanks... It's up to a weight of about 315 at the moment...

Waiting for my first block (200 TEK) to mint, and it's been about a day so far, on and off...

The weighting value has just hit 204, and I'm having to run the wallet on a VM on OS X because I couldn't get the wallet to run using the Mac install. The VM itself is configured to have 2Gb RAM and dual processors... Is there anything I need to do, other than hurry up and wait? I Was hoping this would mint yesterday...

The Block explorer and Richlist are down!

I find it interesting that the Block Explorer and Richlist go down soon before we have a 10k coin dump. Getting played here..

wrong - you are paranoid. half of that dump was me, i've had unannounced bills to pay this month so was forced to cashout a large part of my TEK.
the other 5k i can only presume was a simple weak hand at seeing my sell off.

I will be back buying again as soon as I have the funds to do so. there is nothing shifty going on, you are not being played.
TEK will recover, it always does.

Why sell so much so quickly? Why not trickle feed it instead of getting rid of that many in a 5 or 10 minute period?

Please update to latest wallet !

What are the differences? And is there a Mac version for me to report back and say doesn't work on my machine? Wink

Let me chime in on this:

What raskul did is actually good for the coin in the long run. If all it does is accumulate, sooner or later it will devalue. But when stakeholders sell some to buy stuff, this SUPPORTS the tek ecosystem, and not indirectly. There has not, as yet, been a lot of focus on mercantile acceptance of this coin. This in it's early stages is probably a good thing, as the coin was being developed and distributed. Now, it has value. Its one of the higher valued coins in the crypto world, and unlike a lot of much more hyped coins, it actually works as advertised.

Of course, its more profitable at this point to stake than mine, so that makes it MORE valuable in that we generally don't want to part with it, but eventually it must circulate or be worthless.

EDIT: I see Walkdev ninja'd me Tongue

Glad to see that someone else shares the same opinion - proves that if I'm crazy, then at least I'm not alone! Cheesy

Thinking about it, what use is it if everyone just hoards their coins? 40% stake is worth nothing if you don't USE it from time to time! So people shouldn't be too concerned if others sell some coins from time to time. Just take the opportunity to pick them up cheap if the price dips, that's all!

But if you DO sell, just don't do it all at once! hahaha! Wink

I can only imagine it's something to do with the internal workings of OS X... Some security setting or something. Or it's trying to write to a folder that maybe doesn't exist or needs admin permissions to access... I THINK I've checked all that though. Strange, because some coins' QT files work okay...
