There seems to be something wrong with checkpoints.cpp in the source code which was updated a few days ago.

I was getting this error:

Code:
checkpoints.cpp:58:97: error: ‘unit256’ was not declared in this scope
         (  1121000, unit256("0x000000012b18631c9d5d90e3c5a32655f63ae1100ff8cafbde184521deba0960"))

I had to remove those two checkpoints to be able to compile.

Thanks ethought, that's a clumsy old bugger's typo, twice  Embarrassed

That should of course read: "uint256" and definitely not "unit256".

Please accept my most humble apologies.

Security News Alert

Everyone who keeps their wallets on Linux machines please note the recently discovered Grub2 Bootloader bug.

Although this bug does allow security to be bypassed it affects only situations where keyboard access is available. We would not ordinarily highlight any issue fixed with a simple update but respond here because Bitcoinist has decided to trumpet this item.

We recommend everyone apply all security patches at their earliest convenience.

Ubuntu, Debian and Red Hat patch information.

paytplay, I think you should give some thought to your purpose and strategy.

You claim to want more material value in CannabisCoin while making surly, denigrating posts, apparently attempting to drive its value down.

The situation is that introducing the coin to new users requires wallets which can be installed and used in a matter of a couple of minutes rather than hours to days, as is the current case with a block chain of more than 1.1 million blocks. These must be both backward compatible and forward extensible and will not go out to testers until some time after the holidays. Those are simply facts and no amount of foot stamping or teeth gnashing will change them.

You might also note that responding to churlish posts distracts us from productive effort.

Not good news from Ireland:

Quote
'Completely sober' drivers who smoked cannabis in last week could be prosecuted under new laws - Cannabis users who have not taken the drug for a week or more could be prosecuted under proposed new drug-driving legislation, the Transport Minister said today.

At the moment, motorists who use drugs can be prosecuted only if their driving is impaired, but this new legislation would allow gardaí to test a driver's saliva on the side of the road, followed by a blood test.

@paytplay

Let me try to answer your questions as I parse them. The meat of the matter comes with the fourth quote:

Quote
Here is the deal....

Really? When, exactly, did you make this deal?

Quote
[CannabisCoin] has a dev. ... D9 made it , said he was going to take care of it, when did that change ?

True, true, he does, never.

Quote
The dev is supposed to do things, the dev has not delivered.

He does, yes he has. With more than a million blocks in the chain the coin still functions exactly as designed, demonstrating the fundamental robustness of core 0.8.6.3. In your simplistic view of a coin "contract" that is delivery in full.

Quote
What do you want us to do?

Actually, nothing.

The impatient, on the other hand, want lots of visible motion. Funny thing about those impatient souls is that they never offer inconvenient little details like say, a specific means of satisfying all reporting requirements for injecting donated supply into dispensaries' inventory and distributing that supply to identified persons in need without incurring horrendous tax penalties that are already trying to strangle a nascent industry. That could be because said requirements are in a state of flux with every jurisdiction seemingly having their own interpretation of non-standardized state legislation. Tedious and painstaking query and clarification shouldn't take more than a couple of years, right?

If you really want to help then you could try responding in ways we have actually asked for, such as reviewing and commenting on promotional materials or suggesting features you feel are lacking in the coin wallets.

Quote
... Seriously, if you have the time to do it once, you have the time to do it right....

That's exactly how we feel. In fact keeping this in legal compliance means we have to do it right.

How much thought do CannabisCoin traders and holders give to the work and effort made by ∆9 and the team to get this far and to how much more will be required to remain in compliance until national legislation is achieved? I'm going to take a guess and say "No thought at all".

I'm also going to change one of the answers above. Rather than "nothing" I'd like you to give some thought to what "multi-year project" actually means. Then give a little thought to what you'd need to do when say, confronted with an article like this. Hint: What are the federal laws applicable to in-wallet advertising by dispensaries? Before adding such features to the wallets these are the sort of things you need to know.

Selectively breeding landraces with the appropriate medicinal constituents and a light environmental footprint is tedious and time consuming but it is perhaps the easier or at least more straightforward part of this project.

If you feel you can do a better job more quickly for medical cannabis patients then by all means have at it. After all, they are what this is all about.

Meanwhile, we are still on track to begin CannabisCoin promotion in the new year.

Anyone interested in being part of the Alpha and/or Beta trials for new wallet versions can PM or email me with a note of which operating systems/versions and/or Android phone/tablet you will test and I'll put you on a distribution list.

I know Jameson is having fun, this is practically his raison d'être and his mischief-making will be removed along with that of his sock puppets. What about the rest of you complaining here?

Some of you reported problems with the time the android wallet took to sync from new installation and you were right. Problem investigated, solved and a new wallet put into the pipeline. I requested feedback on features you thought the new wallet needed before we start promoting CannabisCoin in the new year.

Number of people who gave it any thought and bothered to respond: zero.

That's the same number of people who responded about the desktop wallet upgrade too.

Over time several of you have requested promotional material too so a selection of printable pamphlets were made and offered for community comment.

Number of people actually bothering to respond: one.

The one thing we seem to have an abundance of are people who mined or purchased some CannabisCoin and are waiting for the efforts of others to make them profits.

Guess what? We can not hit fast forward for you. The ingredients for a successful enterprise are time, effort and capital.

Feel free to wade through my post history and see that I have always said I thought 2016 was the likely year for first commercial crops. Will the indoor grows be populated with CANNdy before the outdoor? Perhaps but also perhaps not. If the outdoor grows are first then distribution will not occur until late Fall next year.

I realize you want to be given profits and I'm sure most people would like that sooner rather than later. You should realize though that you have contributed exactly zero capital to this enterprise, first sale of Cannabiscoin funds goes to miners. There are no wages for anyone working on this and the only expected reward will be that of formalizing medicine donation streams to patients in need.

Being critiqued is fine. Being criticized by those unwilling to invest the time to critique a single pamphlet or even to say you don't believe any additional wallet features are required is a bit rich.

I am sorry you are disappointed but there are no magic wands. It will take as long as it takes to get everything right. If you want to help your coin holding increase in value then put in the time to read and understand one or more of the pamphlets on github, then offer your suggestions for improvement. Think about how you might approach your local dispensaries or merchants of any goods or services. I'm sure you have a lot more to offer than "Why haven't you made us rich yet?", something which gets old really fast.

wallet not sync ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Cry
nodes ¡¡¿?¿

Hi telematico

Do you have a CannabisCoin.conf file? On most systems the file name is case sensitive, i.e. "cannabiscoin.conf" will not work.

Make sure you have the following seed nodes listed in CannabisCoin.conf:

addnode=seed.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed2.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed3.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed4.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=seed5.cannabiscoin.net
addnode=194.135.90.175

You didn't say what operating system you are using but you should find it in:

Windows Directory: \Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\CannabisCoin
   shortcut: %AppData%\Roaming\CannabisCoin
If Windows is hiding the files search for %AppData%\Roaming\CannabisCoin

Mac OSX Directory: ~/Library/Application\ Support/CannabisCoin
To access it easily hold down the option key when you click "Go" in the Finder menu bar, "Library" will show in the menu list while "option" is depressed.

GNU/Linux Directory: ~/.CannabisCoin
Depending on your distribution press "control" and "h" or "control" and "." to expose hidden directories and files in your file manager of choice.

You will sync more quickly if you use a bootstrap file. Just download it from the link in the OP, upzip it to the CannabisCoin directory and restart your wallet. After it starts you should see a notification that blocks are being loaded from disk. Once it has completed that it will begin downloading from the network.

Let me know if you have any trouble and I'll walk you through it.

General notice: I'll be uploading a refreshed bootstrap file soon although uploading from Australia "soon" is a relative term - it could take 24hrs.

I thought D9 was going to be selling 1 gram of CANNdy for 1 CANN. Is there a timeline for when this is going to happen again?

There are no changes from what is stated in the OP:

Quote
What is the “Yes We CANN” movement?

The Yes We CANN movement is about medical marijuana dispensaries and shop owners that participate in providing safe, affordable, and quality medicine utilizing CannabisCoin as payment. This movement is a way for dispensaries and shop owners to show their appreciation to their patients by donating some medication into the “CANNdy” inventory.

What is CANNdy?

CANNdy is a supply of meds that consists of strains grown specifically for CannabisCoin purchases and/or strains that can be purchased at the rate of 1 Cannabis Coin (CANN) to approx. 1 GRAM of medication.

What probably should be included is more on the efforts to reduce the environmental impact of cannabis grows. Some people may not be aware of just how much energy and water are required by grows but both demands are significant. Finding landraces which produce the desired medicinal compounds and which thrive with reduced inputs is a time consuming business.

When will ∆9 be in a position to donate consistent supplies to dispensaries? I do not know. From what I've heard of the test results I could guess that the northern outdoor grow will be the first commercial grow next year but there may be acceptable indoor plants ready for propagation and growth before then.

So what can impatient holders do to bolster the value of their CannabisCoin? Anyone with the time and inclination is welcome to download and print information brochures found here and approach their favorite dispensaries and merchants about becoming involved with the Yes We CANN movement. The pamphlets "What's in it for dispensaries?" and "Why use CANN for merchants" are provided for the purpose. The ones with "Client" in their title are for dispensaries/merchants to distribute to their patients/customers to encourage crypto use.

I don't think you should be in too much of a hurry to approach merchants running into the holiday season. This is a busy period and they will have little time to spare to talk to you about something so complex and yes, radical as cryptocurrency. As yet there is no facility for dispensaries to advertise their presence in the wallets, something which will add significant value for dispensaries given their advertising restrictions. That's on our list of things which probably should be added, at least to the Android wallet and possibly even to the desktop versions but the legislation searches are not yet done. Advertising is a very sensitive topic and one heavily restricted in many jurisdictions where medical cannabis is permitted in one form or another.

For some reason we still get people thinking they are going to buy thousands of pounds of cannabis with CannabisCoin. Forget it. Legislation does not and never will permit that and no one is ever going to donate cannabis just to make you rich. Nor is this about pumping and dumping yet-another-crypto. This is about streaming medical cannabis to patients. When first conceived it was possible for patients to cpu-mine for their meds (think early doge) but unfortunately crypto strip-mining eliminated the value in that.

One final note on:

I thought D9 was going to be selling 1 gram of CANNdy for 1 CANN. Is there a timeline for when this is going to happen again?

∆9 is not a retailer of cannabis and has no facility to sell cannabis to the public at any price. Will there ever be a Yes We CANN dispensary? That would be really cool but I do not know what the future holds.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: November 27, 2015, 08:15:26 AM

Hi rayaodi

What specifically are you looking for?

Your perceived value is a personal thing - is it worth your holding CannabisCoin? We can't tell you. All we can tell you is that this remains what it has always been, a longterm project to facilitate getting medical cannabis to patients.

Are we still proceeding with the project? Yes, of course.

Are we going to pump the coin price, or make releases for that purpose? No, we are not. As we stated specifically when groups pumped CANN ridiculously in the lead up to and during the October 2014 proof of concept demonstration all major announcements will be post facto, specifically to make coin pumping difficult.

Things people need to know, like proposed wallet updates are quietly released. That's how people know updated wallets will be released in the first quarter 2016.

That said, we are slowly releasing materials so that community members may promote CannabisCoin to their favourite dispensary or merchant. You may use the pamphlets being posted here.

Given that people trying out cryptocurrencies need rapid access to tools to test a fast-sync version of the android wallet has been made available here. NOTE that this wallet has no benefit for you if you already have a synced wallet - it has no new features but rapid synchronisation of the block chain (a matter of minutes rather than the days a new standard sync takes with a block chain exceeding 1,000,000 blocks). Do NOT use this version if you already have a synced wallet since it will take longer seeking backward for your address transactions - it is intended for new users only.

You still have opportunity to suggest features you feel the wallets need. No Alpha versions will be made available before the new year.

Hopefully that helps with what you were after.

Hoping also that you had a great Thanksgiving if you celebrate it.

Always remember to share a smile with someone new today Cheesy
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official] Developments & Discussions on: November 26, 2015, 12:20:12 AM

Anyone seeking the Android wallet refresh can find the latest iteration here.

Note that it is for NEW users. It's only real difference from original is the speed of block chain sync from install, which now occurs in minutes. It has a few more seed nodes compiled in too.

If you have a synced wallet then you should NOT swap versions and doing so could actually slow your wallet down as it rebuilds your address history. You are not missing any features and everyone will be advised when a core upgrade is released.

Reminder: if there are any particular features you believe should be included in the wallet upgrades then feel free to post your thoughts here or, if you prefer, PM or email Bazza at b4zz4.code@yahoo.com (or @gmail.com for googlephiles) with "wallet suggestions" in the subject line.

Share a smile with someone new today (it's free and carries its own reward Wink) Cheesy

Whoops! Sounds like the language level/device settings may be too high for some people. If google won't let you download the refreshed wallet just wait for a day or two - I'll try to get to recompiling with lower settings, perhaps later tonight.

CannabisCoin Android fast-sync Wallet

Now available on Google Play Store here.

Website & OP links will be updated soon.

NOTICE: if you have an already synced Android CannabisCoin wallet then this minor refresh is not for you - this one is for new installs to avoid the long initial sync times associated with million-plus block chains.

If you are upgrading your phone then remember to back up your keys to external storage so you can import them to the new app on your new phone. If you are unsure about the technique then send any Cann contained in the wallet on the old phone to your new phone, desktop or other remote wallet and you can't really go wrong.

Can you and the dev please get in touch with 1ex.trade and get CANN setup on their exchange, it'll see a nice influx of BTC by/before Jan 2016 when everything gets going.  Alts are sched'd to be added mid December and their marketing/promo gets going shortly after...hence it should see some nice volumes to begin with re. btc and maybe even in some alts.

Just go on the site, setup an account and submit a support ticket as a dev to be added to the site.

Thanks.

Thanks TrueAnon, I'll add it to today's ToDo list (which likely means I'll get to it tomorrow or even the day after Wink)

Good time to buy cann  Grin
Funny, I really do not think a year worth of talk about wallet updates, trips to events, and cann strains that never ended up in anyone hands is worth a good time to buy

Sad to see a supporter becoming somewhat disillusioned. Just FYI, this is the first official talk of wallet updates, previous visitor speculation has always been refuted. This is being done now because we are readying active coin promotion. Quite rightly people have complained of new android wallet installs taking far too long to synchronize with the network, in fact days and this made promotion of the coin pointless - no point interesting someone in a coin they couldn't use for days. The refreshed Android wallet should be on Google Play by Wednesday, if not sooner and it syncs in under 5 minutes, despite the blockchain now exceeding 1 million blocks.

Development with CANNdy strains is always going to appear slow from the perspective of cryptocurrencies because they are entirely different realms. What are exciting developments for us with crop progress probably seem boring from cryptoland.

Still just FYI, cannabis grows are generally far from environmentally friendly but CANN is a green enterprise. Commercial cannabis grows are notoriously power hungry, water guzzling entities with frequent need of chemical assistance for nutrition and pest control. Hybrid and completely off-grid grows, as ∆9's are, are expensive but tolerable. Finding landraces which yield the desired compound mix is relatively easy. Finding broodstock which delivers the right output while being drought and wind tolerant, naturally pest resistant and with minimal input demands, not so much. Hence a lot of traveling. There will always be ongoing effort with the development of CANNdy strains. Regular commercial crops will hopefully begin in 2016 but I do not know if the indoor grows will beat the outdoor ones so it may be Fall of 2016.

That of course is largely irrelevant to crypto followers. What you probably want to know is that effort is now being swung to promoting CannabisCoin. For a peek at some of the pamphlets being made available see https://github.com/cannabiscoindev/CannabisCoin-Media/tree/master/Brochures The first of the Polish translations has been provided and awaits some formatting. French translations have been promised by community members too.

If you really can't wait to check out the refreshed Android wallet performance PM me and I'll give you a download link. Be aware that if you have a fully synced wallet this will provide no advantage, it is for new users.

Android mobile wallet minor-version update:

If you are thinking about installing or recommending friends or family install the CannabisCoin Android mobile wallet I strongly recommend that you hold off for a day or two. Just finishing stress testing but the revamped install is currently syncing from fresh install to fully-synced in under 5 minutes. Be aware that the fresh install sync time will increase somewhat as the chain grows on from current checkpoints. We'll look at perhaps a 4-6 weekly refresh of the install file to avoid the recent situation of excessive sync times in the future.

If you decide to install this minor update rather than trying to sync extended periods since you last ran your wallet then remember to backup to outside storage first. You can import your keys back after installing the 0.3.1 minor update.

The 0.4 update version will definitely not be released before January.

Hoping everyone had a great weekend and remember to share a smile with someone new each day Cheesy

Qt wallet updates, call for responses:

Planning is now open for the new CannabisCoin wallets.

Over the next several weeks we (or more specifically I, since I'm coordinating the upgrade) will be calling for opinions.

At present the thinking is that we should stay with Berkeley db4.8 for the wallet database. The reasoning is quite simple: backward compatibility. If we upgrade to version 5.xx we need to provide a utility to dump database from one version to the other, with all the attendant confusion and user fears of losing their CannabisCoin.

If we upgrade to version 6 we run into changing license conditions as well, then we'd need to have users agree conditions before being able to use the wallet and so on.

Those appear to me to be reason enough to stay with a perfectly functional database that we have been using without problem for the last 500+ days.

That said, some of you may have really good reasons as to why we should change. Even if we did not stick to Berkeley there are other usable alternatives, SQlite for example.

You can respond publicly here, PM me or email b4zz4.code@yahoo.com

If you have an opinion now is the time to share it.

Have a great day everybody and remember to share a smile with someone new each day Cheesy

Sorry to say but as much as I (wanna) believe in CANN it's becoming harder and harder.  I'm all for long term and devs holding back but as usual it just seems this coin (esp with it's huge ass supply and past manipulation) is going nowhere.  I know all alts are taking a beating but it just seems CANN is more-than-dead.  I'm not hard up for btc or anything but not sure how much longer I can see this stagnation being stuck in CANN.  (yes i bought higher but i've seen evened out with buys sub 930 sats).

I've been pondering how to respond to your post.

Basically you are saying you are losing faith and that is a matter for yourself.

If you are asking whether the ever-changing legislative scene has made things difficult along the way and caused delays the answer is yes.

If you are asking whether we have suffered technical and physical delays and setbacks the answer is also yes.

If you want "action this day" as Churchill used to flag orders then it is not likely you will see it, despite how busy team members happen to be.

If, on the other hand, you wish to take action and begin promoting CANN's adoption in the wider community then we have some as yet unpromoted pamphlets to help you do so. Just go to this address and browse the pamphlets available so far. You'll find some tailored to suit dispensaries, general merchants and client users. The client versions are meant for merchants to distribute to encourage use of cryptocurrencies.

Still to be uploaded are the Polish language versions, the first of which has already been translated for us by community members. French versions have been promised too.

Everyone is welcome to pitch in and help with high-visibility action while the team takes care of the grunt work in the background. Just please, take the time to familiarize yourselves with the contents of the brochures so that you know precisely what you are offering to your favorite dispensary or merchant. Remember too that this is a busy period for merchants with the holiday season looming. Ask when would be a suitable time for them to spare you a few minutes to discuss electronic transactions with almost no fees.

If you are invested in CannabisCoin then by all means put a little effort into growing the value of your holding. We are and we promise we won't mind the help.
