61  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is bitcoin anonymous? on: February 09, 2015, 09:51:27 AM
I don't think that bitcoin is completely anonymous as one can track an address and find the list of transactions that have taken place through the address although the owner will be unknown.

Well the owner's identity can be found using the nodes/transitioning of transaction.
62  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which BTC wallet are you using on: February 09, 2015, 09:50:33 AM
I don't prefer using online wallets, just use my localbitcoins incase I do.
Best wallet for me has been multibit, as its always a small amount I manage.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New to altcoins on: February 09, 2015, 09:49:28 AM
I am new to altcoins and have read that it is a good crypto currency. I found a faucet list as well from where I can earn altcoins: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=910196.0

However, which wallet is good for altcoins and what is the worth of altcoins in terms of BTC or USD?

Every altcoin has its own wallet. You might want to just use an exchange as an altcoin wallet if you are not looking  to buy /get a large amount.
ANN pages usually have links for downloading the wallets.
64  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin and Altcoins - Up or Down? on: February 09, 2015, 09:47:59 AM
People are still waiting for the bitcoin-killer alt to emerge.

That would not be good for the cryptocurrencies. Already took a long time to spread awareness and promote adoption.
If a new currency does comeout, I wonder how much time will it take for that to be adopted.
65  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction from 2010 for 2015 on: February 09, 2015, 09:46:19 AM
Imagine this;
if u could tell someone from 2010 about bitcoins success and fails in future , mt.gox collapse and new markets in china, microsoft, ibm, and rest that are accepting bitcoins,
basicaly everything that happened, but u cant tell them the current price, and let them guess..

What do u think they would say? 100$, 10 000$ ?

I am sure they never expected it to go over 10$ in the first place.
66  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: February 09, 2015, 09:45:20 AM
Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?

A lot of replies, but this does look like a vague question. The answer completely depends on the price of bitcoin. It may vary a lot, and hard to say what the value will be over 20 years.
best to retire with a fiat value.

68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any Bitcoin car rental websites? on: February 09, 2015, 09:32:00 AM

Thats the only link I could find too. But doesn't look like there are any services or any merchants in that industry.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitGOLD the most expensive cryptocurrency? Trading at around 5.5 BTC on: February 09, 2015, 09:30:32 AM
https://bter.com/trade/bitgld_btc

Since bitGOLD is a bitshares market pegged asset (whitepaper: http://docs.bitshares.org/content/) it means that it tracks the price of an ounce of gold very closely and should thus be worth around 1300 USD. I think I remember bitcoin briefly surpassed this price at the height of the bubble. Any other crypto ever came close? I realise price per unit is completely arbitrary but it's still interesting to see which one has the highest price.

The price dropped by 10% in the last 2 days, Seems like a risky coin now.
How is it trackin the price of gold, if people buying and selling manipulates the price ?
70  Economy / Gambling / Re: sportsbet for tonight on: February 09, 2015, 09:28:41 AM
ill be making a parlay tonight. stay tuned for the picks in awhile

parlay is pretty much absolute lost well only if you are pretty sure about that your picks going to win , will be following your parlay i guess

Not true at all times. I see people making tips and picks, and win a lot from the parlay. So even a loss of 3 out 4, is overcome by the profit from the 1 win.
71  Economy / Services / Re: 2000 Twitter Followers for $2! on: February 09, 2015, 09:26:45 AM
What is the idea of buying follower? Just to be impressive with more 'fake' followers?

Well some people offer services like, promote your altcoin/ website/business, by saying that they have these many followers. But most of them just have fake followers at times, and they use it for faking it.
72  Economy / Gambling / Re: Chainroll | The Easiest On-Chain Dice Game in Bitcoin on: February 09, 2015, 09:22:05 AM
Nice design on the site. Will give it a try. How did you manage to get so many vanity addresses ?
73  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] Scratch a Bitcoin on: February 09, 2015, 09:20:57 AM

I don't know what language is on the site, but it is definitely not English.

For me it loads in english. Not sure why you are getting another language. Might be an automatic tranlator on my pc.

75  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: MtGox losses and tax deductions on: February 09, 2015, 09:17:14 AM
This is where the blockchain comes incredibly handy, if you get the addresses you sent to mt.gox the amount you transferred should still be there, the problem then is law enforcement realising that this is legitimate data they can use which will of course be pretty difficult since they're always fairly useless with brand new technology.

I think majority of the people here are worried about cash transfers they did(from what I understand from the thread titles and post).
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Nigeria [interview] on: February 09, 2015, 09:15:52 AM
I actually expected for exchanges to have already been developed there, considering the large scope that exists for such an infrastructure.

80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think..... on: February 09, 2015, 09:06:26 AM
One of Altcoin will shoot high in price like BTC did suddenly and if so which one ?

Doge coin has been down for the past couple of adays. Hopefully it should rise soon. I already put in my money in it.
