1) Monero
2) Cryptonite
3) Primecoin
4) Viacoin
5) Litecoin

Viacoin is more or less dead. For me, a new coin I have been looking at these days is digibyte.
Lets see how it goes.

VIA is only getting started.  They are well funded, have Peter Todd onboard, and thus will be the first coin to implement treechains.

VIA just switched to being merged mined with LTC, so it's extremely secure.

If Counterparty-type smartchain technology is a success, VIA's Clearinghouse will be also.  This is still the beginning of the beginning!   Cool

At this point it's allabout network effect. I wonder if any altcoin will ever be able to compete with Bitcoin.

I like the fact that after massive coin creation, there are still devout enthusiasts dreaming their coin dream. The market is sorting this out already and I don't believe there will only be one.

My favourites:
1. Bitcoin
2. Peercoin
3. Monero
4. Guldencoin
5. Mooncoin

bitcoin, ripple, no any others

Exactly my thoughts too.

Though I think NXT is interesting, it cannot survive because it's run like a hippie commune.

1. BITCOIN
2. LITECOIN
3. DOGECOIN
4. GULDENCOIN
5. BLACKCOIN

But why???

That's a joke of a list.

Bitcoin - dying. A toxic brand. Technically incapable of being the world's currency.
Litecoin - dead
Dogecoin - useless as a world currency - was designed with drug dealers in mind
Guldencoin - useless
Blackcoin - did you forget to take your meds this morning?

1. Digibyte (This will definitely rise in it's worth, the devs are very talented)
This isn't about "devs" anymore. There are a number of working, globally-scalable cryptos built, tested and deployed. There are top-tier quality websites built and operational. This is about legitimising crypto currency and getting sovereign countries engaged. That requires top level connections and negotiating ability.

2. VPNCoin (Wallet with amazing features)
Ooh great. Another altcoin. I wonder what's so special about them? Are they "very talented"?

3. SnowBalls (Announced Pump in the next hours/days)
I cannot wait.

4. Ripple (Ripple is Ripple)
Yes. Note the distinct lack of hype and hysteria. Their actions speak for themselves.

5. Nxt (good for longtime investments)
Certainly not good for longtime investment. NXT is an interesting project that has done well. But nobody's going to buy in to it - it's 99% tech-focused and the organisation is run like a hippy commune.

My 2c. I hope nobody takes offence.
