61  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Won $4 Million and Died… on: June 26, 2024, 11:52:02 AM
Overexitement can sometimes cause harm to people that have heart related ailments like high blood pressure, so I think that the deceased winner must have an underlying heart disease that he was battling with before he heard about his jackpot win. I saw a video on social media where a celebrant was dancing and suddenly he clutched his chest, slumed and died, so there's need for people to regularly have their medical checkups to avoid sudden death. I sympathize with the deceased family, but atleast they'll take solace in accepting the win that will turn around their fortunes.
62  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Must we call it a mistake? on: June 26, 2024, 09:23:31 AM
A man and a woman can have consensual sex for fun without the intention of having a child and when it happens they blame it on mistake. It's not an acceptable mistake because they must've known the implications and a probable outcome of their act, they're two irresponsible people who should know that in this age there are contraceptives to avoid pregnancies. Ignorance is not an excuse to escape the reality of their action so they need to accept the result rather than blaming it on mistakes.

I think that women are more affected in an unwanted pregnancy because they're the ones that carries it and after giving birth they're the ones that will nurse their babies, keeping their education or careers on hold. Even when they decide to go for an abortion, it's the woman that risks her life, so women should be more resistant when it comes to having unprotected sex if they're not ready for pregnancy.
63  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you put money together with friends to bet on sports games? on: June 26, 2024, 06:12:46 AM
I'm interested to hear what goes on in the meeting when they lose a game and whether they will blame who decides which team they put their money on. It could be a reason why friendship won't last. Money is always going to be the reason for it all.

Knowing that you are into the sport, your advice will be taken seriously by your group which they may rely on you. You make them rich and your bond will be stronger but if you make them poor, bond may not last.
I'm hearing of this group betting for the first time and it sounds interesting and fun to do with friends but in reality I don't think that it's a good idea for money to come between friends. I reason with your thoughts about what happens if the bet is lost, would it be business as usual or will there be blames among them because loses are not something to celebrate. I believe that friends can have a contract to save and invest but not to gamble, gambling is based on luck and it should be on personal decisions, not groups and associations.

Besides you don't need too much money to gamble that will necessitate joining money with others, it's best to gamble personally with the amount that you can afford to loose.
64  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: With is the minimum post require to earn a merit on: June 25, 2024, 04:12:44 PM
I have been into the system for some months now and I have made over twenty posts but no simply merit has been given to me or earn by me and this make me to be surprise on how these merit are generated, given or earned. However, looking at it in another perspective, I don't know if it is because I did not meet the number of my post require to earn a merit or because of the low quality of my post that is the reason why I had not been able to earn a single merit. So please I will like to get more clarifications on the possible requirement for earning merit.
There's no minimum or maximum number of posts that will make you to be eligible for merit and nobody is obligated to give you merit in this forum, this is the fact. I'll advise you to focus on learning about cryptocurrency from experienced members in the forum and also research from reputable crypto sites to increase your knowledge. Don't make posts on topics that you don't understand and don't be in a hurry to start a topic, nobody will penalize you for that. When you want to make a post, try as much as possible that it has quality contents, hopefully it'll impress a member to merit it. If nobody does, move on and keep making more quality posts, eventually the merits will start to come.
65  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: He Used Our Wedding Savings to Play Bet on: June 25, 2024, 01:44:33 PM
All these stories arise because people do not know each other well. From this story we see that the couple hastened to set a wedding date, but the woman knows her groom so poorly that she did not even suspect his bad gaming inclinations. More precisely, you can, of course, not know about the groom’s gambling addiction if he hides this addiction well. But the groom is clearly stupid when he asserts with confidence that he can double this money. If it were that simple, then everyone would be doing nothing but constantly doubling their money. But in gambling, no one can guarantee us anything. Your winning is just a matter of chance.
Some couples are so much in a hurry to wed and get married that they don't take their time to study their spouse to be and that is why the rate of divorce is on the increase. I think that it's better that the lady in the story found out about the gambling habit of her husband to be before the wedding, so that she can decide whether to live with an irresponsible gambler as a husband. The man's action of gambling with the money that him and his fiancee were saving for their wedding was a very foolish act, he's an addict and he needs counseling to help him over his addiction.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What did you think about the future of dogecoin? on: June 25, 2024, 10:11:37 AM
What did you think about the future of dogecoin?
Is it going to do well in the future?
The reason why I'm saying this is because I'm holding dogecoin, did you think I should keep holding it?
For me, Dogecoin will stay. Since Dogecoin is the first and original Memecoin, others are just copy-paste or impostor. So for me, memecoin hype will always have Dogecoin. So for me, Dogecoin will stay and have future just like it was started and still here until now.
Dogecoin is the first memecoin and is among my list of top altcoins, maybe it's price might not skyrocket but I believe that it'll still remain relevant in the crypto market. It is not all the memecoins that should be considered worthless on the long term, doge and Shiba with a few others have defied the naretive of memecoins by being among the altcoins that are worth holding. Nobody can accurately predict what the price of Dogecoin or any other cryptocurrency will be in the future so DYOR and invest the amount that you can afford to loose.
67  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thailand to Legalize Gambling To combat Illegal gambling or.... on: June 25, 2024, 06:59:24 AM

I also think that it is a wise decision on the PM side since it is impossible to stop gambling, so why not take advantage of it for the country's development?  Your thought?

This is a typical case of can't beat them join them, the Thailand, PM has realized that not accepting the fact that their citizens have embraced gambling is a lose for their economy. I applaud his decision to legalize gambling in their country, so that the government can generate income from the vibrant industry, instead of watching their citizens to gamble illegally that will not benefit the economy. I don't understand the prejudice against gambling, people take risks everyday, it's part of the human nature to gamble.
68  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Soldiers using gambling to cope with stress. on: June 24, 2024, 01:43:59 PM
I can only imagine what it feels like to be a soldier on the front line, risking their lives everyday, not knowing whether they'll live to see the next day, it must be very traumatic. I can also imagine that they'll need activities that'll distract their minds, from my observation in movies they always engage in gambling to while away time. So I guess it's not fair to ban them from gambling activities that they use to calm themselves in the faces of dangers. They can perhaps educate them about the dangers of gambling addiction and also gambling the amount that they cannot afford to loose, which can make them bankrupt after their services. Even if they ban them from online gambling, petty physical bets on cards and dice should be allowed.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevoss "Gemini" twins donate $2m to support Trump on: June 24, 2024, 09:18:45 AM
I believe that Trump's decision to support the crypto industry is a logical and positive step in his campaign. At the moment, people are greatly concerned about this issue and the actions of the current administration have caused fears among the public, which could affect the election results.
Trump, is leveraging on the rising popularity of Bitcoin to gain more votes in the coming election, he knows that the number of Americans that are into cryptocurrency is increasing. So it doesn't really matter what his personal stance is on cryptocurrency, what matters at this time is to align with what will give him votes and that is being crypto friendly. The brothers donation is a boost to getting votes from the crypto community in America, if more notable bitcoiners will be openly giving him support, I'm sure that it'll be an edge for him against Biden, that has clearly shown lack of support to the growth of Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrencies in America..
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does mathematical calculations really work in lotto or is it just guess work? on: June 24, 2024, 07:00:25 AM
I suspect that many of these lotto games are fixed. I remember back in the 90s they'd run a lottery in my country and after 10 or 15 years of running it someone made a map where every big win was scored and somehow most big winners lived in or around the capital. So, out of maybe 20 big wins, 15 were less than 50 km from the capital. That did not look like a coincidence, since maybe 10% of the country lived in that area, but it had over 70% win rate. Nobody managed to prove anything though Wink
There's no way to mathematically predict the numbers, forget about that.
Too many tales about lotto not being based on luck alone, I've even heard from some people that sells these so called "sure numbers" to ignorant gamblers, telling them that the lotto machines can be manipulated. That they get the numbers from the company's officials at a price and they're resellers. I know that most of these number sellers are scammers but the question is if some of the machines can actually be compromised? That's something that I can not answer because some of their numbers wins, and I wonder if it's coincidence and luck alone or whether there's really more to it.
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quit the doubt, it's not too late for Bitcoin investment. on: June 23, 2024, 02:46:52 PM
Starting Bitcoin investment today is not late, I believe that in the next 10 years, people who are still skeptical about investing in it now will look back at this time and wish that they did. I also believe that we're better informed and confident about the potentials of Bitcoin as an investment asset more than the early investors because we can assume that they were risking their funds, not knowing whether Bitcoin was a scam that will not last. Bitcoin is the best investment that anybody can go into because you don't have to start big, doing DCA method by buying in Satoshi, any low income earner can start and grow their capital + ROI.
72  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling/betting shops vs Investment banks - Do you believe this guy's opinion? on: June 23, 2024, 12:36:19 PM
I don't think that the musician is totally correct in his assertion that gambing establishments are mostly found in poor neighborhoods, the fact is that they're mostly situated in areas where more people will see their businesses. I see bet shops, casinos, banks and all sorts of investment firms in the same area, I don't think that there's any discrimination about where to situate gambling shops because it's a fact that the rich and poor gambles. Although I observe that there are.many lotto kiosks in the rural areas, I don't know if there are that much in rich neighborhoods, maybe it's because there are no spaces to situate these kiosks in rich neighborhoods, not because the rich can't patronize them.
73  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Most Nigeria leaders value thugs than a graduate on: June 23, 2024, 09:04:41 AM
Politicians for Nigeria, de use graduates for dem office works unto say na educated people dem need to run di work for there. But during election time na thugs dem de take run things for di streets to make sure say dem win by all means, whether na to disrupt voting for areas wey dem no popular or to snatch ballot boxes for where dem de get information say na opposition de win. E no go de easy to combat di menace of political thuggery for our country unto say na politicians and influential people for our country de sponsor dem activities.

Poverty and illiteracy be di main reason why many youths de risk dem lives to de carry out dis criminal activities for politicians, because many of dem de lose dem lives in the process of disrupting peaceful elections. Our youths need enlightenment to understand say dem need education and skills acquisitions to take get work and live normal lives instead of wasting dem lives for politicians wey no care about dem safety.
74  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting on political events on: June 23, 2024, 07:28:08 AM
In political betting it is only popular countries like the US, Russia, UK and Canada, that most gamblers from other countries can perticipate in. People don't put so much interest in political affairs and elections of unpopular and small countries, you can liken this to unpopular leagues around the world, it's only the gamblers in those country that'll knows anything about their league. It's ok to have a discussion thread and gambling for political bets but I believe that the focus will majorly be on the popular countries.
75  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin is becoming a center-stage issue in US elections on: June 22, 2024, 05:34:33 PM
It's said that when two big elephants fight the grass will suffer, but in this scenario that two heavy weights are set for a showdown, Bitcoin, being the innocent grass that they're both leveraging on is ironically flourishing. So whether it's Joe Biden or Donald Trump, that becomes the next American president, they're both giving relevance to Bitcoin and showing the world that Bitcoin is the digital cash of the future. Both men where skeptical about Bitcoin, but today they have understood that this generation and the next have embraced cryptocurrency, now they don't have much choices than to listen to the voice of the youths whom they need their votes.

77  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does mathematical calculations really work in lotto or is it just guess work? on: June 22, 2024, 10:46:46 AM
I just heard that people can calculating the probability of the combinations of numbers that can wins but not many people can calculates with right and gives that wins to them. Many people just wrong in the calculation and makes them losses their money.

It needs experience to have that skills so they can predict the right numbers that can gives them wins. But some people can guessing with right and only pick random number combinations and that's because their luck comes in the right time. We can see that some people can hit the jackpot while they don't knows about calculating the combination of the numbers. But they are lucky enough to wins the jackpot and bring the money to home.
Infact the major reason why I started this thread is because I spoke with a friend that claims that he knows how to calculate the string keys of how Baba Ijebu lotto machines combines numbers, and he can predict when a perticular combination of numbers will drop. I'll see him busy calculating and making comparison with sets of numbers that have won in the past, although I don't know how often that his predictions works. I've collected numbers once from him but I lost the game, and he called me after some days that the combination of numbers that he gave to me have won. Maybe there are few geniuses that can give near accurate guesses about lotto numbers, but I know that most of them are scammers.
78  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Learn from Bitcoin on: June 22, 2024, 08:08:13 AM
I thank di OP for dis thoughtful thread because one of di most important aspect of our online activities na to secure our private keys, especially where e concern money matter. If you suffer do DCA method to hodl your Bitcoin and at di end of di day you no secure your seed phrase and private keys well, you go de exposed to theft of di keys and hack attempts. I commend you for di image wey you share for di OP, e show say di more numbers of words and characters wey you take make your passwords di harder and longer time e go take for hackers to try to steal your coins.

As some experienced members don emphasize for dis thread, e de equally important to try to use words wey you go remember and to secure your private keys for different secured locations.
79  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerian Government plans to begin taxing gambling. on: June 22, 2024, 06:30:00 AM
I was reading the news and saw that Nigerian government will soon introduce taxation to gambling. Taxation on gambling is not new in some countries so this will not be surprising to many people.

https://www.thecable.ng/world-bank-offers-support-as-fg-plans-to-introduce-telecoms-gambling-taxes/

I thought gambling platforms are already a tax paying industry so, what are they really talking about here, a pay raise or something. Also, I don’t recall these guys not collecting VAT on my credit card recharges while using the telecoms.
I share your thoughts too, whether gambling companies were not paying taxes before now, or whether this new law is aimed at increasing their tax payments. Perhaps they've not been collecting taxes from gamblers wins and they want to start doing so now. Taxations are necessary evils so if they want to collect it and the money is used judiciously to better the economy then it's good and gamblers should just accept it.

The rate at which bet companies are springing up in the country and their agents are opening shops in every nook and cranny is making the numbers of gamblers to increase everyday. I believe that this will be one of the reasons why the government wants to be cashing in on their wins.
80  Economy / Economics / Re: Here is the serious use case of crypto to deal with your everyday needs on: June 21, 2024, 03:46:59 PM
When there is issues with banks and transactions also becouse of hacking and cyber attacks.
Then people need to use crypto there is reports that in many countries now cyber attacks.
So what options you have? You need to use crypto If you don't have you buy it with cash or you can borrow.

Cryptocurrency can be used as an alternative to fiat but you have to understand that it's not every cryptocurrency that have real use cases, we have many altcoins and most of them are scams. Bitcoin is a reputable cryptocurrency and can be used in the place of fiat, but it's limitations in using it to make payments for transactions is that most business owners don't accept it yet, many people have bank accounts but few people have crypto wallets, so this is a major problem.

Besides, like some members have observed on this thread, the issue of low adoption compered to the preference of fiat is another demerit for the use of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, they're even outrightly banned in some countries. Hopefully in the future when the adoption of Bitcoin have reached in every corner of the world, then we can easily make it our preferred digital cash because we can easily spend it everywhere in place of fiat.
