61  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think BiPolarBob is crazy ?? - share with us the help he gave to you on: July 30, 2015, 04:17:06 PM
And BOOOM ! BiPolarBob is officially back Grin I missed his giveaways but well  always glad to see awesome members coming back to the forums Smiley https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=343899

He is checking the forums indeed, but not 100% active sadly.

He is I guess , yesterday he sold something to Muhammed Zakir or gave something and I found his giveaway thread for giving 0.002 BTC & also the famous "20$ Steam wallet for 2$" Grin
He sold people a bunch of steam gift cards several days ago and had them individually send money to Dabs's feed the children program and post on that thread, which caused the thread to get a lot of bumps, increasing it's visibility. This was probably more effective in helping the charity then simply having people donate to the address via his giveaway thread.
62  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Most Popular & Trusted Bitcoin Game | Huge Community | Free BTC on: July 30, 2015, 04:14:18 PM
PLEASE FUCKING DEMOTE RANDALL

he muted me for "begging via pm"

and yet Bminus openly begs in chat and no mute

VIPBMINUS15:50 accepting donations

HOW THE FUCK can mods play favorites?Huh?

How about don't beg in the first place? I agree mods shouldn't play favorites (if that's what they're doing) but just because others are doing it or getting away with it doesn't mean it's ok for you to. Begging is annoying.
when i get reported for begging and muted I'm fine but when i reported the person who reported me for begging and he dosent get any mute then thats not ok

I have a great idea!  Instead of muting beggars, Stunna should make a begging jail.  Then, when someone is begging in main-chat, mods press a button and all that person's chats are directed to the begging jail.  What's more, the only chats that person then sees are other messages sent to begging jail.  The result being that basically the beggars can all be in one place begging from each other---taking a taste of their own medicine without bothering anyone else.  Who knows, maybe they'll actually start funding each others' begs.  In either case, it seems like an appropriate punishment.
I think this would make it a lot easier for the faucet farmers to be able to tip to their bank accounts which is a major reason why people are muted (at least this is my understanding). Roll Eyes
63  Economy / Gambling / Re: DaDice.com - Next Gen Social Gambling Dice Experience | Progressive Jackpot on: July 30, 2015, 06:04:40 AM
Again, it is pure luck. We have between 5,000 and 7,000 rpm (rolls per minute) all the time, so anybody could win the roll bounty. It is true that maybe both were hunting for the Jackpot, but that is exactly what we are looking for, since only players with deposit > faucet can win the jackpot and we rather like to award the roll bounty to a depositor than to a faucet user.
How many of these exactly are from people who are playing with their own funds, and how many are playing with money from your faucet?

This is important because I would suspect that investors would earn little/nothing from bankroll investments from people playing on faucets, although profit potential is real when players play with their own money.

I think DaDice has seen a few high enough high rollers to force them to payout from their cold storage addresses. Can anyone confirm they have actually received a payout in excess of 20 BTC, and if so, can they post the TXID so an idea as to DaDice's various addresses be publicly known.

65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we stress testing again? on: July 30, 2015, 03:55:15 AM
Coinwallet is a non-existing company. So whoever started the first spam-wave hid in the dark. The same is happening since then a couple of time. For me it looks like someone is preparing and fine-tuning a much bigger attack. The timing for this is perfect, for while the attacker is hiding, a lot of other discussions are going on and therefor give room for a lot of speculations about the background of the attack(s).
This is an interesting theory. Although I am not entirely sure what kind of organization would want to execute ever increasingly sized attacks on Bitcoin like this. There are a couple of possibilities though

  • A government that feels threatened by Bitcoin - I would doubt this because of the small "market cap" of bitcoin verses major fiat currencies, as well as the small amount of bitcoin related trade. The way things are going, bitcoin probably has the potential to increase revenue for governments because of additional trade that would lead to additional tax revenue
  • A "Western Union" like company - I would doubt this because of the small size of bitcoin related trade verses the amount of money that is transferred by even the smaller remittance companies. It would also not be difficult for companies like Western Union to modify their business to include the sale and purchase of bitcoin at a markup/discount, possibly even at better rates then what they get in the remittance business, and without the potential for fraud in terms of someone with a fake ID picking up funds that shouldn't be able to pick up funds

It has been speculated that someone with a large holding of LTC was/is behind the recent attacks as it would be conceivable that people would flock to LTC when BTC transactions were slow to process (confirm), although even the connection between the attacks and the runup in LTC/BTC price is speculation.
66  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [Selling] Legendary Bitcointalk account on: July 28, 2015, 06:03:22 AM
Very interesting, I am not sure if I have seen a legendary account for sale before.  Definitely following this, curious as to what the final price will be.
There have been a small number of legendary accounts sold over the several months since the feature was brought about. The number will obviously be small because of the small number of legendary accounts out there. I think the percentage of legendary accounts ever sold is probably smaller then senior and hero accounts because there are several legendary accounts that belong to people who have a large amount of bitcoin (and as a result do not need the money from the sale of their account), or are very prominent members of the community in one way or another (a dev, admin/mod, or otherwise highly active).

190$ paypal
pm me
LOL. I think it is safe to say that a legendary account is worth more then ~.64BTC, and even more LOL on the paypal offer
67  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] amazon stuff - any offer better than purse on: July 27, 2015, 03:04:38 AM
I do not trust purse as they can not stop carded purchases. Saving some money with the risk of fraud is not worth it. I use gyft.com and have absolutely no concerns about the codes be legit or not.
True, since amazon has your address as well (and the buyer might use the address for bad purposes as well), they can track you down and charge YOU for fraud, instead of the guy that used the stolen credit card.
20% is really not worth the risk, gyft gives 5% off and thats a GUARANTEED rate, with no chance of fraud, and its your own account.

gyft actually gives you a guaranteed discount of 3%, not 5%.

Purse somewhat recently started offering their customers protections against carded purchases in that they will pay legal expenses up to certain limits in the event that law enforcement were to press charges against their customers for CC fraud as a result of their purchase on purse. It is still probably not worth the potential hassle though.

Wouldn't you be able to inturn sue Purse if you get prosecuted since they are supposed to be protecting you and setting up a secure place to do business?

I just don't see how this could be the buyers fault, yea you could get tried, but all your doing is using their services as advertised.
I am not sure regarding being able to sue Purse.io, although they are advertising to cover at least $10,000 in exenses related to "any costs related to purchasing items through its website" which would include the cost of a legal defense.

Regarding a criminal defense, it would be possible that a prosecutor would argue that you were essentially trading with yourself, as in you opened an ad to buy items on Amazon, and then turned around and purchased those items with a stolen credit card.

Even if a prosecutor did not make such claim, and/or you were otherwise able to document your innocence (or there is a lack of evidence to get a "guilty" verdict), having to deal with such an ordeal would certainly be time consuming, expensive and a hassle.
68  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [Selling] Legendary Bitcointalk account on: July 26, 2015, 11:46:42 PM
My buddies only request is once you buy the account you have an admin change the name please!
Unless it is a VIP account, then your buyer is not going to be able to change the name of the account.

Theymos will sometimes make very few exceptions and change the name of an account that is very active, however this is very rare, and I don't think will happen simply because an account was sold.
69  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [Need] 3 BTC loan on: July 26, 2015, 01:24:52 PM
The total value of the "collateral" is significantly below the amount of your loan. Plus you are actively trying to sell all of the collateral you are offering.

Your asking price for the steam accounts is "only" 1.685BTC, however even that is probably overpriced.

Any collateral that you provide must be secured by the lender (or escrow) before the loan is funded
70  Other / Meta / Re: I wish we could ban buying & selling of accounts. on: July 26, 2015, 12:48:31 PM
It is true that accounts on default trust (as well as escrow accounts) are sold, however the purchaser has incentives not to scam with them because those types of accounts tend to be very expensive. The purchaser would likely be better off over the long term of acting honestly and continuing to offer their services and collecting fees for such.

With that being said, you should also not trust excessive amounts of money with any one person to avoid giving them incentives to run away (see maidak).

I feel that the sold DT accounts/escrow accounts should have a neutral trust rating atleast on them so that people just don't assume to be trading with the same person as before. There are so many escrows here whom users deal and trust for every trade they make. If the escrow does sell his account, how can that be identified except from the pwd being changed? It doesn't make anyone trustworthy here if people who recommend using escrow only sell their accounts and leave the community.
Well part of what gives an escrow account it's value is that it has positive trust and others are willing to trust their money with them. So if neutral trust was given to such accounts then the value of the accounts would decline. This would effectively ban the sale of escrow/trusted accounts as the premium associated with such accounts would be diminished.  You should also consider the reasons why an escrow would consider selling their account, it is primarily going to be because they need money, and what do you think is going to happen when they have no other way to raise money? If they are desperate enough they will act dishonestly and steal from those who have entrusted their money with them.

As I mentioned previously, you should not trust anyone with excessive amounts of money, regardless of if you know they are the original owner of their account as everyone has their "breaking point" where they will act dishonestly and steal given the opportunity.

Also, if an escrow account is sold and continues to act honestly, then it will be able to continue to earn some amount of money by acting as escrow, which would give them a long term incentive to not scam.

To answer your question as to how you can determine if someone has sold their account, the best way is to get a signed message from the escrow, if you get a signed message from a bitcoin address that is very old, and still has a good amount of bitcoin "in" it, then there is a good chance the account is not sold (private keys can easily be sold/transferred, however it would be a very bad idea to allow funds to remain in an address whose private key is known to more then one person because of the risk that the other person will spend such funds.

With all that being said, a greater concern that you should probably have when choosing an escrow is if the escrow has the ability to analyze the facts and evidence when trying to mediate a dispute between two parties in order to determine who the bitcoin being held in escrow should be released to. If there is a dispute and the escrow is unable to evaluate the evidence provided, then you could end up getting scammed even though the escrow has good intentions.

I don't personally appreciate buying accounts for participating in campaigns and making lot of posts though not actually interested in discussion.
Don't you think it is kind of hypocritical to say this (and other statements critical about the sale of accounts), when you yourself have sold accounts (or at the very least have tried to sell accounts) in the past?
71  Other / Meta / Re: I wish we could ban buying & selling of accounts. on: July 26, 2015, 04:40:45 AM
It just came to my notice last week that Default Trust accounts too are sold here and may be escrow accounts too. This account sales happen privately and with the result nobody knows who is the new owner of the account and such accounts deserve a negative trust to prove that they are sold but nobody cares. I sometimes wish that Signature Campaigns are banned so that account sales will reduce in number.

is there a list of default trust accounts?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust
DT users are listed there. the crossed (have (-1) or lower beside their name) don't count. your name will be listed there but it will have a "(0)" beside it so that doesn't count.
This is not true. That link shows your trust network (although it will show DT if you use the default settings). Also a number of zero (0) means that the same number of people excluded them as included them, if they have a negative number then they are excluded by default.
73  Other / Meta / Re: What Does Marketplace Look Like in Local Boards? on: July 26, 2015, 01:39:27 AM
Just to let you know, you are not allowed to browse the local boards if you do not speak the language of the local board as your primary language. You also are not able to use any tools like google translate.

If you do then you will be banned from the forum and all the bitcoin ever sent to you will get double spent. (I am glad you posted here instead of trying to look for yourself)
74  Other / Meta / Re: Name Change Notification on: July 26, 2015, 01:20:17 AM
Such notification is not necessary. There are no rules agains having multiple accounts, and many people have several for a number of reasons including, but not limited to, safety, privacy, not having their "main" account associated with controversial statements, signature deals.

There is also no activity based rank that will allow you to change your displayed name. The only way you can change your display name is if you donate 50BTC to become a VIP or become a moderator.

Just about the policing of accounts - couldn`t it be done based on the user`s ip address? Allow 1 account per ip address, and don`t allow it to change.
Nope. People often use tor to access the forum (which forces you to change your IP address every ~10 minutes), along with VPNs (which would make it easy to sell an account and then, based on IP addresses alone, make it appear that the account was not sold).

The forum generally believes in the free market, and there is no real reason to restrict a market. If there is value to something (an account) then there is no reason to restrict the trade of that item.
77  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] Bitcoin-related Scam Websites on: July 24, 2015, 10:20:32 PM
Please add the scam site bitgold.com https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1133534.0

The site has a lot of red flags, however now someone behind it is creating a number of new accounts claiming they are not a scam and providing clearly inaccurate information about the site in order to make it appear to be more legitimate

edit: It might be appropriate to give it a "pending" tag, although it is suspicious to say the least
78  Other / Meta / Re: Why is my bought account banned? on: July 24, 2015, 09:58:12 PM
No.. it's just wasted 0.26 BTC, thanks moderator / staff or whoever did this.
I would suggest contacting Majic8Ball about this to see if he is wiling to give you a refund. If what you are saying is accurate, then the reason for the ban was something that either he did, or something that the person he purchased the account from did. If this is the case, then he absolutely should refund you, although he may not be able to post/PM either if he was the cause for the ban.

edit:
Yes, my previous account was banned for 60 days. However, I didn't know about this and I don't get why the ban is permanent..
Is your "previous" account still under the 60 day ban? If so then using alternate accounts (with the exception of using one to appeal your ban) is ban evasion, and you would most likely be the cause for the ban
79  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin client with this feature on: July 24, 2015, 03:48:53 AM
I wonder why change addresses were implemented as a way for more privacy. In fact it's a tool to slowly find out all the addresses one owns in a wallet. I have it disabled since a long time and think about privacy on my own. Connecting your addresses is way to easy otherwise.
If change addresses are used properly then it should be difficult to know with certainty which other addresses a certain person owns. If you reuse addresses then an attacker will know with much greater certainty how much bitcoin you have, and the privacy of those that you trade with will be diminished.

Hey; I wasn't sure where to put this thread because it's slightly related to Services.

Does anyone know where that signature campaign list made by Mitchell is? I forgot to bookmark it the other day and I'm sorely missing it.

Thanks in advance!
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.0 <<- here ya go!

I know that I can say this thread has helped me tremendously over the past year or so, especially after the PD signature campaign ended.
