62  Economy / Scam Accusations / Buyer beware: regedit and coigg.com scam? You be the judge. on: April 03, 2015, 05:59:27 AM
Buyer beware.

We purchased a number of "regedit/coigg" offers, including the "lifetime support".

We have been specific, patient, and polite, yet we have received absolutely none of the stated "support" at all, and now no response to our requests for delivery of the support we purchased.

Here is the result of attempts to obtain support via skype (as offered).

I will change/remove or other-wise update this depending on their action:

bitcoindr

P.S. Hmmm...  Idea! email me if you want to help me figure out a legitimate way to offer a "group buying service" to purchase certain products and services to be delivered to each participant of the group and reviewed for other purchasers convenience and protection.

Lifetime support... hhhhmmmm...
I'm more interested in not getting ripped (and I don't mean some small amount of money, I mean by someone having initial access to the inner workings of a cryptocurrency exchange - which escrow can't prevent).

Problems seeing a regular demo; problems with timely communications, and then suddenly disappearing on me on skype when I asked 2 simple questions.

I'm trying not to pass judgement, but what do you guys make of this?

[4:08:24 PM] regedit: im online now
[5:34:54 PM] btc co: Hey regedit - I'm finishing up some things, and I also had a hospital emergency last nite (she's better now). Need to check on a few things (emails, etc.) and make a bank deposit. Which reminds me, how easy it is going to be to add other coins such as doge, etc.?
[5:35:51 PM] regedit: hi those coins with the same rpc with bitcoin will be easily addded
[5:36:23 PM] regedit: about bank depo and other the vps host is currently down
[5:36:29 PM] regedit: http://131.72.139.188:3000/
[5:36:32 PM] regedit: not working
[5:38:06 PM] btc co: Smiley - no no no... lol - I mean "I" have to physically go to the bank here and deposit cash. lol
[5:39:12 PM] btc co: Hey, once we get this working, I don't mind if you begin referring people to our site as a demo (though they won't be able to access admin!). Can you excuse me for a moment? I have to go to the bathroom!
[5:39:34 PM] regedit: ok no worries Smiley
[5:39:52 PM] regedit: i only accept bitcoin and paypal payments
...
[5:55:49 PM] btc co: Ok, so not immediately, but I'd like this exchange to eventually has as many coins as the competitors. Eventually. There is so much to do. I have clients who want to see us get one up and running and then they''re going to want one and we're forming an alliance/network. The peatio site says that it can run multiple coins. Can it eventually have as many as cryptsy?
[5:57:25 PM] regedit: more crypto = high  resource requirement. yes it can but adding / debugging testing a new coin would take me 2-3 as im a solo dev.
[6:01:13 PM] regedit: do you have other questions?
[6:01:27 PM] btc co: yes
[6:02:22 PM] btc co: Once we have a good working system to show, I have investors who will be providing the funds for hardware upgrades, funds set aside for a reliable developer (I'm actually learning c++ and was going to learn django, but maybe I'll learn ruby). You said "2-3" - 2-3 hours? So we want to handle at least 5 coins as soon as possible. bitcoin, litecoin, doge, wampumcoin, and one other (maybe 6).
[6:03:29 PM] regedit: 2 to 3 days sir, but for litecoin and doge we can do that in 1 to 2 days as testing is complicated
[6:05:03 PM] btc co: Ok. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you (it doesn't matter for the job. It matters so that I can watch my language (swear words, etcs!) for example, I'll be leaving for about 30 mins. to go to the bank and to get beer! Do you drink beer!? Smiley
[6:05:23 PM] btc co: )
[6:05:41 PM] regedit: sorry cant tell
[6:07:22 PM] btc co: lol - NO?! awww... Ok, well. I'll be 30 in may. You don't wan to say? You're either really young or maybe you think that you're really old? No matter. Your answer tells me that I should watch my language anyway.
[6:08:36 PM] btc co: So are you going to be totally anonymous too, or can I know your 1st name?
[6:17:08 PM] btc co: eeewww... did I strike a nerve? I ask a couple of personal questions to know who I'm dealing with and you seem to suddenly stop responding? Not a good sign. I understand privacy. I'm a very VERY private person too. I've been on the net for many years and I've seen lots of bad things. Lots, so I am careful too. I've been stolen from more than once (the last time bitcoin was stolen from me I actually lost my home because I didn't have any more money... VERY hard time). If I were spending much more for this, it would be absolutely necessary to know who you are, but in this case, I just wanted to know a little  more about you.
[6:19:10 PM] btc co: Wow - you're suddenly offline now? Hmmm... Ok. I get it.
[6:19:58 PM] btc co: This was too good to be true.
[6:51:47 PM] btc co: Did you just suddenly leave because of my questions? Wow. Just like that. Ok.
You should know that people have to protect themselves, and others, so they're going to ask questions.
My only intention was to get a system up and fully operating for me and my client's project.
Even if you wanted to keep your entire real name private, you could've at least said "20 year old reg from hongkong",
and hung around so we can hash out the details of this installation. but now I'm thinking maybe what has happened here and how it was seemingly just handled is some information I and others would like to know up front... on bitcointalk maybe?

----------

now I'm not trying to ruin a legitimate person's business, no. and I'm not trying to save the world either (i grew up), but this is bullshit in my opinion. how reliable would i have to be he delivered services i disappeared before payment? a different example is should we expect bitcointalk to take reasonable measures to protect their system from hacking our accounts? yes. isn't it my duty to protect my users if i ran an exchange by determining if i'm working with a trusted person? ...if i'm serious. after all, i've taken the steps to be compliant with the laws of the land, and a chain is only as strong as it's blah blah blah... you get what you pay for most of the time.

yes... i got a little hopeful to think i could find some random un-vetted person to trust with something so critical. even with "installation and support". and the software's development team are not much better it seems when it comes to some serious questions from a serious administrator.

but hey, correct me if i'm wrong, because i'm not perfect either.

by the way, i did reach out to the the so-called "community" of this software to ask them whats happening here because maybe THEY need to step up and really support what originally sounded like such a promising project, so that people won't feel the need to even consider wasting time and exposing themselves to avoidable risks. no response.

I don't understand, I've been trying to reach you for about a month on skype. I see that you've shared you're contact details with me, and I saw you online a few moments ago, so I sent you a message but you won't reply to any of my pre-sales questions. This has destroyed my confidence purchasing or expecting support after purchase.

I had planned on installing the exchange myself, but then I saw your ad here and thought it was a good idea to pay for some help... but now I have to turn to freelancer to replace the two partners who had a change of plans, or go it alone.

Regedit, where are you?
I've been trying to contact you for two weeks and have not receive an answer.
I'm interested in the 'local Bitcoin order book exchange'.

also, I'm a bit confused. are you just charging for installation and support of peatio? I have a network of clients around the globe who are interested in having it installed and run for them. One at a time of course.

if anyone else can help with multiple peatio set ups, one at a time, let me know.

bitcoin had a humble rocky beginning too.

This coin is so dead!!!
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WampumCoin [WAM]/Wampumcoin.com Announcement update on: July 09, 2014, 12:47:12 AM
i told myself i was going to let it go but 5000 is 5% of 100000 which is worse than 3.3%. ok im letting it go. they did say they'd pay it back and did a lousy job of hiding it if they were trying too since it was right there in plain view. so if the guy was off meds and fell the hell out and left the site design and config incomplete or someone in charge. well i guess it can happen. but i hear ya. i dont  know i just think its an aweful lot of trouble to go through if its a scam thats going no where. i mean whats the point? i did get a reply about the site being suspended got a reply from a christine saying that they're hosted with a reseller and the reseller hasn't answered them on what happened.

brad, b-rad lol isn't brad short for bradly? Smiley i don't know ive signed my messages bitcoindr, btc dr. and doctor of bitcoin depending on how fast i was typing and my frame of mind i suppose. im not bitcoin expert so i might have to say it really means bitcoin drive! lol

whats up damm315er

he did admit a few messages back that he made the change. i personally think this stuff is going to kill him and thats his stupidity, but he believes in its original idea and maybe thats stupid too considering everything.

btw why do u think its the same team? as ninchelser mentioned brad posted chat logs with their buyers argument over the sale.

im on both the site and the mine now?

but i hear you. thats why i asked him if he'd mind my mentioning his situation. he said it's personal. i asked if the chat logs were and he said brad said the other party said go right ahead.

what a drama

What for?  Their site is suspended again

Wampumcoin.com management has had no problem posting private ious dev of Wampumcoin, so  I don't understand why they expect any special right not to be questioned openly on their behavior.

If the guy is ill, I hope he feels better soon, but it doesn't excuse the pattern of behavior we've been seeing.

Man
can you please contact them at their support like they keep asking you to or let it go here?
they explained to me that there was a hospitalization and he was simply unable to get someone in there to resume, thats why nobody answered. i understand if he didn't want to say "i'm ill".

Hey peter, if it matters, the gang over here doesn't feel like it was some sort of stealing. After all, the pool's blocks have always been there for public viewing without the need to log in. Don't know about anyone else, but I saw it immediately, right after the reward split. I do see that it's 100,000 now. Don't worry about returning anything. Whatever helps. I'm still working on those scripts for wampumcoin and you guys other ones.

Goodmorning (my time), I hope that everyone is going well here.

I'd like to ask everyone who can to take a minute to please help me compile a list of products and services they would be readily pay for with wampumcoin.

You know, hosting, soap, advertising, potato chips, anything. All joking aside, I'm looking for a list of at least 10 things you guys would seriously pay for.

Yeah, I called it quits on this.......jumped to over 20 in a blink of an eye and earnings needless to say plummeted:-(

I'm mining at a very low hashrate and getting good steady results.

On 05/27/2014 for blocks 86304-86323 the screenshot below shows difficulties between 0.0148 and 0.2362:

and my own personal difficulty for my 3 currently running miners is between 4 and 8:

We've had enough of this mark character too.
I hope him and his business suffers 10 times the pains he's caused.
We're looking for another solution.
Did you find something else?
We have a few leads, but we have not decided yet.

BTC Dr.

Total scam service.

Purchased a pool for FireFlyCoin.

After a couple days the pool was down and I could not connect.

Ended up getting 38K coins missing from wallet and of course they claim no responsibility.

I had no access to the wallet myself or the server, only this Mark character.

I log in one day to find this:

Wallet Balance   240.19820000
Locked for users   38,034.43580640
Unconfirmed   0.00000000
Liquid Assets   -37,794.23760640

I then message Mark Shirley on Skype:

Code:
[1/12/2014 2:06:39 AM] Jude Austin: Hey, pool is down.
[1/12/2014 3:00:44 AM] Mark  Shirley: Which pool

[1/12/2014 3:05:08 AM] Jude Austin: pool.fireflycoin.com?
[1/12/2014 3:06:51 AM] Mark  Shirley: what has crashed but left a PID File, im checking the logs wallet restarted
[1/12/2014 3:12:28 AM] Mark  Shirley: is the coin in troubble
[1/12/2014 3:12:40 AM] Jude Austin: Not that I know of.
[1/12/2014 3:12:43 AM] Mark  Shirley: POS is not working and caused the crash attempting POW
[1/12/2014 3:13:30 AM] Jude Austin: FireFlyCoin is a POW only coin.
[1/12/2014 3:14:08 AM] Mark  Shirley: proof of work is rejected by stratum along with POS
[1/12/2014 3:14:15 AM] Mark  Shirley: Ill need to do some more diggin
[1/12/2014 3:19:08 AM] Mark  Shirley: This is now a Priority 1 SLA Intervention

[1/12/2014 3:20:47 AM] Mark  Shirley: Stratum and the wallet no longer approve of each other, before i do anything else i need to review our logs and find out whats had a hissy fit.
[1/12/2014 3:21:42 AM] Mark  Shirley: If the coin is not restored to service within 12 hours, youll get 30days added to your contract free, pool was reported down by you 08:06

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen. It is what it is (actually it's far more than it seems). The in's and out's in the life of a Cryptocurrency creator and a cryptocurrency wanna be creator.

For a moment I thought josh might have been no good, but in the end maybe josh is serious about his point of view and was determined to stick with it as much as I was serious about mine.

Josh, I truly did not intend to annoy you or make any mistake in what I believed. I really wanted us to work better together, and maybe we could have, but in the end we chose a refund to be the best. It was not my *primary* intention to disrupt or damage you or your business. That might have been collateral damage just as damage to my own reputation and loss of money would be.

Thank you for an ok ending and do make sure you keep customer satisfaction at the top of your list of priorities.
