Now that is legitimately funny. I also like this one, although sadly not Halloween related:

62  Economy / Gambling / Re: ToTheMoon.is -- Moneypot in space on: October 31, 2014, 06:17:03 PM
Maybe you can't call it a scam site, but it wasn't run honorably either.

Yeah, I don't know the details, but thought maybe you hadn't heard that there was more to the story than just "OP vanishes".

It's good you pointed me back to the thread. I hadn't heard anything about any payments back to people, but my attention had fallen away from that thread after months of nothing important happening. That's the fate of all these gambling-turned-scam-threads over the longterm, I'm afraid.
63  Economy / Securities / Re: Creative Mining Official IPO thread on: October 31, 2014, 06:14:06 PM
lol new user, IPO. I'm tired of this, really. I don't post in Securities a lot but I am seeing this daily.

We need more proof to validate why and how we can trust you with our money without you delivering anything.

This is why the WoT is such a powerful tool, and why you really can't trust any of these
'offerings'

Even with 'proof' of validation, you still don't know the OP from Adam. We've seen this so many times in this forum; the OP may look credible, but it is still an 'Over-the-counter' interaction, with no regulation. The counter-party risk is huge here and, as history tells us, rarely works out for the best.

At least if you could look in the WoT, and see that, "Hey, Jimbo has dealt with this guy, and I trust Jimbo's opinion," then you would have a fighting chance.

The plain fact is, you won't know if any of these offerings are a scam until it is too late. If you're newbie that is reading this, and don't believe me, just hang around for a few months and watch. You'll see that you are swimming in a sea of scams.

What is "WoT?"

Don't forget EveryDice. I think the number of people wronged in that one was more limited, but it was still a scam site.

I heard they repaid everyone eventually. Check their thread.

It appears maybe they have, except for 1Dice? I don't see any confirmation there they paid him out, and last I remember hearing was that their "main investor" who had control of the cold wallets was not going to honor his bets, because he was suspicious 1Dice was cheating. (It was awhile ago though, I don't remember the details with perfect clarity.)

Maybe you can't call it a scam site, but it wasn't run honorably either.

Although, from the looks of some of the posts, it seems people were paid back what they had on the site after 1Dice's winnings were subtracted, but if they never paid out to 1Dice, doesn't that mean they kept btc that doesn't belong to them? Either 1Dice won it and it should be paid out to him, or they determine he shouldn't be paid, in which case the winnings never occurred and should be returned to investors. But in no case should there be instances in which people only received a portion of their investment back less winnings that were never paid out.

Quotes from ED thread:

received coins left after 1DiCe1 winnings, thanks ED.

same here - about 75% lost.

I have also received what I had invested, after losing a lot to that player.
65  Other / Off-topic / Re: Scientific proof that God exists? on: October 31, 2014, 05:36:50 PM
Using your own argument, that would mean that 'god the father' could not exist since he would first need to make the universe and then his son (to be a father). Regardless, I can equally assert that spaghetti exists only because the FSM created it in his own image, the same way christians insist they are created in god's image. No more contradiction. Bottom line is, that when it comes to god, there's no (scientific) way to (prove or) disprove it's existance, regardless of which god(s) your are talking about, which is the whole premise behind Russell's teapot. (Just for sake of argument, you cannot view the entire solar system through the Hubble telescope at once, nevermind a teapot god that may wish to remain undiscovered.)

With all due respect, this discussion only digressed somewhat to semantics since you were implying these terms mean something they do not. I am not arbitrarily saying anything and have already linked sources to the validity my assertions. If you insist you can arbitrarily give words their meanings, then I suppose I have nothing left say.

I'm hardly arbitrarily giving words meaning when I quote the definition of 'god' from a dictionary reference and then apply that definition in context.  But, then again, I'm not attempting to prove the existence of God, I'm simply arguing that the FSM is a bad analogy.  It's a bad analogy specifically because analogies only work if the characteristics of the things being compared are similar.

Am I missing the point of the analogy? I thought these things were always brought up in the same abstract vein; that is, you can't prove god exists any more than you can disprove there is a teapot/FSM/whatever-else. The analogy isn't about which mythical creature exists or what properties and powers it may or may not have, it's about the existence of mythical creatures period. From this view, I think the analogy is fine.

Meanwhile, the rest of the world is standing up to their fascist police forces

The American people are too drugged up thanks to their food, making them docile

Monsanto and the cops, conspiring together since 1776 to make you fat and complacent.
67  Economy / Gambling / Re: ToTheMoon.is -- Moneypot in space on: October 31, 2014, 05:18:37 PM
I'm sure you can see why people might be sceptical of a new site that launched shortly after two big dice sites turned out to be scams, especially when it is initially using another site's code without permission.

what other site scammed besides dice.ninja?

dicebitco.in, then dice.ninja

Don't forget EveryDice. I think the number of people wronged in that one was more limited, but it was still a scam site.
68  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ebola will come if airlines will not stop to fly to Africa on: October 31, 2014, 05:17:18 PM
Normally I'd say that it doesn't really matter, because all the chemicals that governments are spraying into the air called chemtrails, that are weakening people's immune systems, will allow us to die by all kinds of other diseases anyway, simply because of our weakened immune systems. But the fact that Ebola is patented shows us that they are preparing for mass extinction of people around the world without chemtrails.

Jesus christ, where do you come up with this garbage? Do you ever stop to question your terribly flawed premises? Forget that Ebola patents are not a conspiracy theory, and do not show us anything about planned mass extinction. Just ask yourself what benefit is there to someone doing anything to cause a mass extinction. Mass extinction = economic collapse and the end of society as we know it today. What benefit is there in that, to cause anyone who's left to have a significantly lower quality of life now that society has crumbled. Then question why some government would go through all the trouble of engineering a virus when they could just nuke people if their goal was mass extinction.

Best way to discredit yourself: mention chemtrails in any manner that doesn't involve mocking someone else who said it.

All right! Somebody is listening. Hopefully you will wake up to the facts of chemtrails on time to see how they are destroying the whole planet - before it's destroyed, and you right along with it.

Sure, there's a lot of misinformation out there. But if somebody CAN do something, they WILL. AND they ARE.

Chemtrails are real. All you need do to prove it to yourself, is to observe the skies a little each day - at different times of the day - for a couple of weeks, to see that they are FACT. There have been a lot of complaints about chemtrails lately. They will be harder to see than they were a year ago, because the perpetrators are figuring out methods to make them less visible, just to quell suspicion. But you can still see them if you look.

Smiley

EDIT: Oh, and thanks. I'm honored that someone would call me Jesus Christ, even though I don't really deserve that title.

Contrails are not chemtrails. Very simple-minded people look at contrails and think: those are clearly not a naturally occurring physical phenomenon, but chemicals designed to leach my brain out. The same type of people who used to throw rocks and spears at the moon during a solar eclipse to stop the moon from 'killing the sun.' The ordinariness of this conspiracy theory is tiring.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemtrail_conspiracy_theory

"There have been a lot of complaints about chemtrails lately." You forgot to finish that sentence with "none of them credible or noteworthy or discussed outside the tinfoil hat factory."

This stupid step will alter the American demography irreversibly, and in the long term will reduce the US to a third world nation. Less number of tax payers and an ever increasing number of social parasites can never be a good sign.

People have been warning about immigrants destroying America since there was an America. A little reality check is in order.
70  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama Prepares Amnesty Plan on: October 31, 2014, 01:58:27 AM
The last 100 years have been a steady progression in the expansion of executive power. In terms of the history of this country, the idea that the president is expected to wield as much power as he does is relatively new. It was never intended to be this way, but as the progression has been gradual, we've been acclimated to it. When things are going wrong, the public wants one person to have the power to 'fix it,' and someone to blame when it's not. Basically, we want to elect our king and expect him not to be corruptible by the power he wields, but when in the history of the world has this ever been the case?
71  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you know what the most dangerous Halloween costume is? on: October 31, 2014, 01:50:42 AM
Not so funny. And the not so funny part isn't the part about how cops are going to start to be taken out, (as the saying goes) by an angry public. The not so funny part is that the Federal Government just might step in to protect the cops, by declaring martial law.

What would happen if martial law were declared over cops being executed? Who knows for sure? But it might include a complete fall of the United States of America. Why? Because the people and their guns out-man and out-match the military, especially with most of our military being overseas, and especially with a whole lot of the military that would join the ranks of the fighting civilians in one of a multitude of ways.

Smiley

This might severally disappoint you, but the vast majority of the population does not want to kill cops or overthrow the government. People want stability and prosperity. American society epitomizes both. The public is not so angry that they're going to rise up and start 'taking out cops.'
72  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sweden recognizes Palestine - Israel responds by removing Ambassador on: October 31, 2014, 01:43:32 AM
I'd love to paint this as something apolitical and done for the good of it, but I can't fathom what's going on behind the scenes between these two countries, and internally in Sweden. This isn't something that just happens, there is diplomatic dialogue before a bombshell like this is dropped. Regardless though, I think it's a good move. Israel deals with a lot of crap from jihadis and Hamas, but Israel also instigates a lot of it by continually seizing Palestinian lands and failing to reign in homesteaders who are building settlements on land that Israel previously acknowledged would be part of a Palestinian state. At this point, trying to determine who is more at fault for the current hostilities is pointless. It's too complex and the history is too long to say which side is more at fault. They're both at fault. Just stop the violence already.

74  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Not all cops are bad" on: October 31, 2014, 12:46:38 AM
The police are there to serve as armed mercenaries to secure private property, which automatically makes them more favorable for the rich, which is class warfare.

This same system would exist without the state, it's just the 'armed mercenaries' would be run for profit by a private company instead of the state.

We've been trying to tell you that all along.
76  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Not all cops are bad" on: October 29, 2014, 08:46:15 PM
it's not a premise, it's a headline and an opening statement, and it was very effective.

Thank you!!

That's the only positive comment I've heard on any of my posts (Cop related) here

Maybe it's because you post things like 'this cop did a horrible thing, so it proves all cops are terrible people.' You're going to get push back on that, as you should. Keep it to the specifics of the case, and don't over generalize, and you will find a lot more support. Your biggest supporters are likely to be libertarians, of which I am one, but they're not going to support reckless statements. We have enough trouble being taken seriously as it is without helping to spread ideas that paint us as unreasonable.

This double standard with cops has to end, where they have a different justice system and different/no consequences for breaking the laws compared to regular citizens. But no one is going to listen to that message if you come off as someone who just hates all cops because they're cops. The way you present information is as important as, if not more than, the actual information itself.

I want to be on your side. Just help me get there.

Amazing, you are telling him to 'be free', and  'shut up' at the same time.  Worse than that you are also telling him 'we have a club over here filled with people just like you, but they are very different, if you want in you must change'.   Then you cap that off with the mention of a "double standard that must end".  Shocked

No, I'm telling him not to wonder why he doesn't find support when he posts something in a stupid way. There's a reason most people don't take you seriously when you say "all cops are thugs and bad guys" and it's because you don't deserve to be taken seriously.

My point about the double standard would be in agreement with the spirit of his post, just not the way it's presented.
77  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Not all cops are bad" on: October 29, 2014, 08:44:49 PM
you post things like 'this cop did a horrible thing, so it proves all cops are terrible people.'

Wrong, I never said "all cops are terrible people"

Look at your statement:

If the statement "not all cops are bad" is really true,

Why did they stand by, watching and doing nothing, as their peer officer was raping a child?

'If the statement that not all cops are bad is true, then why did they stand by and watch as a child was raped?' You're implying that the statement "not all cops are bad" is not true. That implication is the same as saying it.
78  Economy / Gambling / Re: ToTheMoon.is -- Moneypot in space on: October 29, 2014, 07:52:50 PM
There are certainly a lot of other ways for the house to cheat:

* Bet Rejection  (Reject a bet on a good game)
* House whale  (Selectively lower the potential profit on a good game)
* Simulated lag  (Reject cashouts that occur a few miliseconds before game crash)
* Not terminating a game cleanly

You certainly seem to be an expert on cheating! Wink

Good point though - all of those four would work even with provably fair crash point selection.

House whale would be pretty noticable after investments start pouring in and the auto-cashout limit is higher.

Just seems like there is no reason to offer investments on a site like this. Both of these sites are already running fine without it, and doing so would essentially be sharing profits by the site owner. In the case of MoneyPot, didn't the site just sell for 100 btc? And now the rumor is the site will take investments, which will further delay the amount of time it takes for the new owner to recoup the cost he's already put into the site. So any attempt to offer investments should be viewed with a very skeptical eye. We've all seen enough sites go down to question the motives of anyone offering to profit-share on their site at this point. It definitely won't be for me, but you all make up your own mind, and for the love of god, be careful. We've all learned by now there is no recourse when someone steals your coins: EveryDice, Dicebitco.in, and DiceNinja thieves all got away with it.

I thought of this thread when I saw that! But then I figured it was not worth my time to post it. Fundamentalists aren't concerned with facts so much as beliefs. This will change nothing here.

http://dankcoin.org/

Failure to launch, like ALL his other projects.

Dank's been banned for ten days, so he can't reply, but I just wanted to post what a blow to world peace that was.   Embarrassed

I guess I never paid attention to his signature. Haha, of course the symbol of the coin has a marijuana leaf on it.

Also, why did Dank get banned, and how do you know?

RIP World Peace. You will rise again in ten short days.
