Okay, thank you for summing that up for me. A appreciate it.
Basically stay active, post once a day to rank up. Make post count!
Next milestone... Join a Signature campaign. Give me a minute on that.
You don't need to post once a day to "claim" activity. You just need to post a minimum of once during every two week activity period. If you're interested in seeing what those two week periods are, somebody put together a useful spreadsheet with that information here.

After you've posted at least once during an activity period, you build up potential activity, which can be claimed at any time by making additional posts. For example, if you post once during activity period number one, and 20 times during activity period two, your activity would be increased by 21, and you'd still have a potential activity of seven.

Maybe some further explanation would be useful.

If you look at https://dcpos.github.io/bip39/ you can see how the accounts work.

Your first account uses derivation path m/44'/0'/0'/0 for receiving addresses and m/44'/0'/0'/1 for change addresses.
Your 2nd account uses derivation path m/44'/0'/1'/0 for receiving addresses and m/44'/0'/1'/1 for change addresses.
Your 3rd account uses derivation path m/44'/0'/2'/0 for receiving addresses and m/44'/0'/2'/1 for change addresses.
... and so on ...

The 12 word seed is the same for all accounts. Only part of the derivation path changes.
Thanks for the clarification, I think that completely clears things up for me. I wouldn't have needed to back up that new account then because by backing up my seed I would be able to re-generate that account. I guess initially I wasn't sure if generating a new account meant generating a new seed as well, but it turns out that isn't the case.
63  Economy / Services / Re: (NEED) CHEAP VPS on: June 05, 2016, 01:59:52 PM
Use Digitalocean.com. It is the best and most stable VPS provider I have ever used. You pay between $5-10 a month depending on the RAM you need. The best is, you can use one of the many free vouchers to get 1-2 months for free. Use Google to find valid voucher for this month.
Digital Ocean is grossly overpriced for what you get. Digital Ocean charges $5 a month for a plan, when you can get a similar plan on other sites for $10 a year.

My suggestion to the OP would be to stay away from Digital Ocean if he's looking for a cheap VPS. Even with those free vouchers you mentioned, their prices are extremely high.
64  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: June 04, 2016, 01:41:43 PM
You don't need to create an additional backup - your 12 word seed backup is good for all addresses in all HD accounts you create in mycelium, even for future ones.

If the checks and waiting times weren't in place, I could pick up your phone and make a backup without you noticing. I could set a pin, if I wasn't forced to wait then I could back it up then remove the pin again. You wouldn't know I have a backup and I could at any point decide to steal all your funds.
So while it might seem odd, it's necessary to protect you. And as mentioned, you don't need to back up again - you would just get the same 12 words shown again anyway.
That makes more sense, thanks for the explanation. I didn't realize that my seed would cover all generated accounts, but that does make sense - I believe the Trezor uses a similar system where a single master seed can be used to generate multiple accounts.
65  Other / Meta / Re: Account banned without warning on: June 04, 2016, 01:39:32 PM
I think you need a perma ban considering the amount of shit posts you have with multiple accounts .Someone should contact stunna to claim your free bonuses too since you already cheated a giveaway.

I agree with the perma-ban suggestion, considering that this individual is now ban evading. They're posting outside of this meta thread with the account used to appeal their ban:

66  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: June 03, 2016, 04:03:14 PM
That's to prevent someone from picking up your phone, creating a backup, and swiping your seed without your knowledge. If you set up your PIN, that should prevent someone from getting into your wallet/seed in the first place.
I realize that, but I was just setting up a PIN for the first time. Here's the process I went through:

  • Created a new Mycelium account
  • I want to back up this new account right after creation, so I try to do so.
  • I get a message stating that before I can backup this account, a PIN needs to be set on it
  • I set a PIN for the account
  • I now try to backup my account. However, I receive a message saying that my PIN was recently changed and I need to wait 288 blocks (48 hours) before I can backup the account

It seems to me that after creating a new Mycelium account, you're forced to wait 48 hours before you can initially back it up. I brought this up, as I figured it was a bug when trying to initially backup a brand new account. This may be the desired behavior for existing accounts where the PIN was actually changed, but it seems like it's a sort of bug when you're trying to backup an account where a PIN was just created.
67  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: June 02, 2016, 08:40:00 PM
Strange.

You have your original HD account backed up right? I'm pretty sure all the HD accounts use the same seed.

I'm sure I have a backup of the seed, but I'm not sure if I have a backup of the account made through Mycelium. Before last weekend I hadn't used that wallet in about a year or so. Anyway, I thought it was a little odd that I wasn't able to backup the account after setting an initial PIN.
68  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: June 02, 2016, 07:52:01 PM
I think I might have found a small bug in the latest version of Mycellium, but I figured I'd run it by the forums first to see if others have had similar experiences.

Last weekend, I created a new Mycellium HD account and decided I wanted to create a backup of it right after creation. When I tried to do so, I was told that I needed a PIN on the account before I could back it up. Fair enough, I set a PIN and continued to try and back it up. However, when I tried to back it up after setting a PIN, I received a message stating that the PIN was recently changed and I'd need to wait two days (288 blocks) before I could back up the account.

Has anybody run into this before? It was a little frustrating to not be able to make a backup of my new account, and it might be worth looking into for future releases.

That can still be used as fraud!

How? If they're all watermarked as replicas that would defeat most, if not all scam attempts with them. Good luck trying to get verified on a bitcoin exchange or similar with a verification document that is a watermarked replica.  Roll Eyes

Try pmeing BadBear also. Be sure you have same ip with the new account you register and the account you want recovered.
Having the same IP doesn't necessarily help, if you're 100% sure that the account was hacked best thing you could do is provide proof to the admins with a signed message as noted here. This does take months though, I've only seen theymos recover accounts faster than that on extreme occasions.
If the account that was hacked was well-known (high trust rating, staff member - those sorts of scenarios) they're recovered fairly quickly to prevent scamming with them.

On the topic of using the same IP, I don't think that changes anything either when the staff look into recovering your account. They have other methods than just matching IP's up to accounts to verify that 'person x is under control of account y'.
72  Other / Meta / Re: Green hover color for bitcointalk.org links on: April 11, 2016, 10:59:28 PM
Making it optional and default for newbies wouldn't be too bad.
That would be a reasonable compromise, but if something like that was to be implemented I think I'd also like a setting in my profile to turn the setting off, and only go with the green link highlighting on hover.

This auction ended about 45 minutes ago, correct? Wish I saw it earlier - I might've bid on it for participation in the Rollin.io campaign.

This is great .. security update. Might save some people from falling for phishing scams. How about having the page which says:

⚠ You're leaving the bitcointalk forum
OR
⚠ You Are Being Redirected to An External Site

that'll warn people right away??

I was wondering why all my links were turning green all of a sudden. I thought it was some extremely late April fools joke. Heh.

Although I do agree with Twister. There should be a warning page that is much more obvious than a green font color change.

I would disagree with twister's idea. Have you guys ever used a website that does that? It is extremely frustrating to try and open external links on websites like that if there's always a notice popping up in your face letting you know that you're leaving the website. I think the green link highlighting in place right now is a good warning method for people, plus it makes it much easier to open multiple links at a time compared to having a warning page. You'd have to manually click on each new link page to acknowledge you're leaving the site.

Reset and still only 4 TH..
I haven't really been following this conversation, but are you able to test out your PSU voltages at all? I was having issues with my S7 having a sporadic hashrate, and eventually I was able to determine that a faulty 12V rail on my PSU was the source of the problem.
76  Other / Meta / Re: Green hover color for bitcointalk.org links on: April 11, 2016, 01:08:14 AM
So far this don't work on Safari IPhone browser think I am not the only iPhone user who visits this forum. Although I like the idea and wish you the best making it work for all people.
I don't think it'll ever work on mobile devices, since you can't really "hover over" a link on a mobile device as you can a normal computer. I guess theymos could always create a mobile stylesheet for the website, and make all Bitcointalk.org links appear green even if they haven't been highlighted, but considering that there isn't even a mobile version of the site I wouldn't expect that to happen.

Payment received, thank you alexrossi. I'll continue this campaign again for the second round (although I don't think I need to mention this as you said that all current participants are automatically enrolled for the second round as well).

It's like taking the platters out of a Hard Drive, and putting them in a new drive to read the data... you bypass the security
I'm not sure you understand how encryption works. Even if you took platters out of a HDD and read them with special tools, that wouldn't crack the encryption. The data on the drive itself is encrypted, so you'd just be reading the encrypted data off the drive. You'd need decryption tools to try  decrypting the drive (and if a modern encryption technique was used in combination with a strong encryption key, chances are you wouldn't be decrypting that drive).
79  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: creating an on-line wallet on the tor network on: March 28, 2016, 10:37:58 PM
I wouldn't even use Blockchain.info over Tor. Blockchain.info is an extremely poor site to trust with any amount of money, if you search on here as well as the /r/Bitcoin subreddit on Reddit, you'll find countless threads where people have lost their bitcoins due to Blockchain.info's incompetence. Along with that, there are a bunch of other threads where people have complained that their login details have been stolen while using Blockchain.info over Tor due to rogue Tor nodes.

An alternate option I'd recommend doing would be to use Electrum + Tor in combination. You can accomplish that either by using a live boot of Tails OS, or by configuring Electrum to direct all traffic through Tor. It would be a much more secure method of creating an "anonymous" wallet.

Your Aruba account will be validated upon your first order.

In order to validate your account, you need to provide the following:
- Individual: copy of valid ID card / passport.
- Company: any company registration document.
This is like the opposite of what I would want to share for a VPS. If I use it, it is for privacy.
This is the first I've ever heard of a VPS provider needing proof of real life identity before setting up your services... Seems like it would be a lot easier to just browse LowEndBox.com for a few days until you find a similar cheap VPS for sale.. It's not very tough to find a small VPS for < $15 USD per year that doesn't require any verification of your person.
