I'm having MAJOR issue with them right now and just getting a run around

Used Tor to access the site perhaps and now need to show identity?  Or delays withdrawing using Dwolla?    Those are the two most common issues affecting Mt. Gox accounts.  (Well, this week being the exception where they are not processing International wire transfers.)

no of course not. I run a  legal business and have no problem and have submitted documents on both ends...
62  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dwolla now purposely delays USD withdrawals from Bitcoin exchanges on: May 03, 2012, 08:29:49 AM
What would normally take exchanger to dwolla 2 hours to confirm is now 3-4 days.....

Dwolla account-to-account transactions are instantaneous.  There is no "confirm".  Are you possibly indicating instead a delay where the exchange (such as Mt. Gox) is hitting systematic limits with Dwolla and therefore is not able to send the money for 3-4 days?

this could be it right here, but still there is no excuse for how long their bank transfer are taking also!

64  Economy / Trading Discussion / MTGOX really having major issues! on: May 03, 2012, 05:55:27 AM
I have had major issue with MTGOX and withdrawing for over 3 weeks now and it's keep getting delayed. I noticed a few other threads about it also. Who is is having major trouble with them. I just warn people to stay away until they resolve, the probably $100,000's of dollars they owe people, that many are being affected by this glitch....?
65  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX - International Wire Transfer Has Not Arrived After 24 Days on: May 03, 2012, 01:14:23 AM
I too have been experiencing difficulties with MtGOX withdraws over the past 3 weeks. It's very frustrating! I did however notice a wire I had pending since April 23rd switch in MTGOX system's from "new" too "processed"  today; although it has yet to hit my bank. Here is hoping these issue will be resolved asap!

Seriously. Don't trust the exchanges, don't trust online wallet services, don't trust your anti-virus software, and don't trust anybody online.

If you absolutely must trust someone with your bitcoins, for the love, choose carefully!

  • Do you know their full name?
  • Do you know where they are located?
  • Have they demonstrated trustworthiness in the past?
  • Are they asking you to trust them? (red flag)
  • Do they have insurance?

Insurance? Impossible, you say. Not so!

When I needed people to trust me to hold bitcoins for a contest, I deposited 50 bitcoins as a bond with a well-respected forum member, so that even if I did something stupid and lost people's money, they would still be reimbursed. You can read about it here: http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=10008.0

Consider carefully who you will trust. With bitcoins, elaborate scams may be profitable. For instance, someone may develop trust for their user name over many months with small transactions on this forum, then take advantage of that trust to make off with a lot of money. Such a scam would only be worth doing on this forum. No other forum in the world would be worth the effort.

If you want someone to hold your bitcoins for you, there are NO online services that have the transparency and security to make me comfortable using them for storing bitcoins for more than a short time in small amounts. The only way to do it is like I did - choose someone whom you believe to be trustworthy, and approach them. If they approach you, or in any way say or insinuate that they are a trustworthy person to hold your coins, STAY AWAY.

If you are thinking that I might not be trustworthy, since I am writing this post about the issue, you are approaching the appropriate level of paranoia.

If you want to store your bitcoins with maximum security, there are lots of resources about how to do it, such as this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Securing_your_wallet

Here's my summary:

1. Put all your coins in a new wallet that has never connected to the network
2. Encrypt that wallet with the maximum security you can find, using the most secure password you can keep track of
3. Delete the plaintext wallet, and distribute the encrypted wallet to every piece of physical media you own, store it online, and send it to several people you trust

Don't think you can generate and remember a secure enough password? Create a super-long password, and store clues to help you remember it. For instance, your password clue file might say:

My standard password + My throwaway password (backwards, all caps) + &#$%@ + First two sentences of first paragraph of page 19 of my favorite book (include all capitalization and punctuation) + My wife's mother's middle name + My son's favorite superhero + My favorite number times 8734 + food my wife hates (backwards, all caps) + 9-digit number stored with my paper will + 10-character password stored in my safety deposit box + . . . .

You can go on in this way to create as long a password as you want. Store this password clue file with your encrypted wallet, and optionally encrypt both with a simple standard password to keep out snoopers.

In this way, not only can you recover your coins from your "savings account" at a later date, if you get hit by a chicken truck tomorrow and die, your loved ones can probably piece together your password and recover the coins too (better make sure you trust them, and that between them they have or can get the answers to those clues).

I recommend that you practice your wallet encryption and recovery a few times with a small number of coins, until you are very comfortable with the process before you try it with the bulk of your savings.

And remember, this is how most bitcoins services get started:

I agree, but MTGOX who is well very well known is having major problems right now and they are supposed to be trust worthy. Very very upsetting what I'm having to go through with them. It's hurting my business and my family more importantly!

I have had great experience with securing my wallet through paper wallets with bitaddress.org and I highly recommend using it :-)
69  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: April 29, 2012, 03:26:30 PM
If you have a need to be allowed into the forum beyond before you have completed the required 5 posts and 4 hours logged in, please post your request here. You must provide evidence that shows that you either understand more about Bitcoin than the average newbie, or that what you want to post can only be done in another forum. Reasons such as "I'm not a spammer" will be ignored. Try to be as specific as possible.

If you learned of Bitcoin through a currently established member of this forum who feels that you are ready to be released to the rest of the forum or who is willing to mentor you, or if you want to make a new account that is separate from your already-existing established forum account, have the existing user/account vouch for you after you have made your request.

If you are asking to be whitelisted because you are having a problem with something, we generally look more favorably on people who have already attempted to solve their issue in the Newbie board. Even if you end up not qualifying for preemptive whitelisting, your post might still qualify for being moved to another board if you have received insufficient help after a few hours.

Please note: If you see "Jr. Member" by your name, you have already met the 5 posts and 4 hour requirements and don't need to post here. Additionally, after you meet the requirements, it can take up to 10 minutes for your account to be automatically upgraded.

Hello everyone! My name is Diego. I'm new to these forums but not to bitcoin knowledge. I really would like to reach my 5 minimum post to post in a topic I feel is very important. I, like many others, am having problems with MTGOX and would just like to notify MTGOX members about the problems I'm having. I'm hoping to be allowed to post in this topic especially( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77213.0 ) since it's a recent one I'm being affected by as well which is affecting my business tremendously. MTGOX has been giving me a run around for over three weeks and I don't know what I have to do that I'm an MTGOX verified member but will do whatever it takes to prove my problem exist and is being ignored by MTGOX. I hope to learn and inform through these forums. Thank you all for letting me be a part of these community.

please do so! and get a post Smiley
don't be so negative, the 5-post-4-hour-rule is there for a reason: to get rid of the trolls. NOT to piss newcomers off.

relax take it easy and smile. Cheesy

If you see anyone spamming this thread, please report it. Spam will result in an immediate ban.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted.

Hello I'm a newbie to these forums but not to bitcoins. I was wondering what I had to do to post in forums I feel Important for me to post in. I am honorer-ed to have found this place and hope to be able to learn a lot from here, PEACE!
