62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the global currency of Earth on: December 18, 2015, 02:03:53 AM
Just because its more expensive than USD, doesn't mean its better.

BTC is barely used anywhere at all. Which makes it alot less 'valuable' in my eyes.

I agree that in the global sense, Bitcoin is indeed barely used anywhere. But I'm still able to buy almost anything with Bitcoin, either by paying the merchant directly in Bitcoins or through various gift cards that can be purchased with Bitcoin.

Heck, there are even a number of bars in my home city where I can pay with Bitcoin. Given that Bitcoin is still extremely new, I'd say it's doing pretty good in terms of adoption by merchants.

In Montreal we have a few atm machines but no bars that accept bitcoin.  Which city are you from?

64  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie wanting to get into mining. Needs help! on: December 17, 2015, 05:31:37 AM
if you really want to mine with that budget i would suggest an antminer S3 with a gold rated power supply. Maybe if you're lucky you could get 2 antminer S3's.

i really hope they think of the small guys also and make "for domestic use" miners that are affordable, efficient electricity wise and can hash at a level that can give us an interesting ROI given how we will be going into exahashes soon and the difficulty level will be very high also.

Cool so the big mining farms will buy these miners and us home miners will struggle with our soon to be obsolete hardware.

Bitcoin is the currency that has shown how great the blockchain technology really is.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Halving Party 2016 on: December 17, 2015, 12:27:24 AM
I am slowly building my bitcoin stash but for me the halving will hopefully be a stepping stone which might be talked about and make more people aware of the blockchain technology as well as the best cryptocurrency which is bitcoin.

70  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best Mining Hardware on: December 16, 2015, 03:26:41 PM
Make sure to take into consideration the noise that the hardware will make.  The s5 and s7 are loud, so for a home setup it can be bothersome, especially if you are in a small apartment, or live with other people.  Some replace the fans with quieter ones.  But I would recommend the s7 for what you're looking for.
71  Other / Off-topic / Re: If You Won A Million Dollars.. How Much Bitcoin Would You Buy? on: December 16, 2015, 03:16:05 PM
I'd invest around 100k when the price is low and sell high.  Rince and repeat.

For safety reasons I will not tell anybody what wallets I use or how much bitcoins I might have.
75  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie here - which low budget miner to get? on: December 16, 2015, 02:30:37 AM
I would go with the Antminer setup, the S3's are built like tanks, and (if good ones) will overclock to 250mhz for roughly 1TH of performance.

I would go with an s3 also.  I have one and it really runs great, not to loud either.
I am not sure about 1TH performance but I would suggest you overclock it to a setting that gives you as less HW errors as possible and not to overclock it for the most TH that you can get, you will only compromise it's lifespan.  Every S3 has it's sweets pot.

He meant 250 freq gets 500gh

Op wants 2 thus 500 + 500 = 1000

Oh my bad!
May I add that at the frequency 237.50 I am getting roughly 500ghs with HW errors in the range of 0.0120%/0.0110%
Again every s3 responds differently to overclocks.
76  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I Start Mining Bitcoins on: December 16, 2015, 02:18:07 AM
As far as a pool goes and given the mining difficulty I would go with a pool that has low fees and that finds blocks consistently, so that would mean going with a pool like antpool.

78  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to stay away from gambling? suggestions ? on: December 16, 2015, 02:14:03 AM
I would suggest you seek therapy once you start asking for help on how to stop gambling. There are therapy groups for gambling just like there are groups for alcoholics.

Watch out for the USA attacking this country in order to 'liberate'  it.
