63  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CoinURL sold to the new owner on: August 05, 2013, 04:42:32 AM
CoinURL is getting marked by (my) google chrome as trying to inject malware. Would be clever no? Inject some zeroday into all the people browsing bitcoin sites, dig for their wallet.dat files, no?

I'm pretty sure it was more of a case of a user putting up links on CoinURL to a page with a javascript miner or something that wasn't a very big risk at all, and because of that link Google flagged both the coinurl.com and cur.lv domain names.  Removed the link and eventually Google released their grip on us.  What a nightmare.  It was actually like 20 different pages, all were on our site for quite awhile and I supposed Google "updated their definition" on that particular script, and it flagged a bunch of random stuff that our users had linked to.

All of the pages they linked to saying they contained "malware" were BLOGSPOT.COM pages.

BLOGSPOT IS A GOOGLE WEBSITE.

So Google was complaining that we were linking to malware, when in fact we were linking to GOOGLE..

How does Google.com/Blogspot.com not get flagged for this BS?  I have no idea.  Maybe it's because we are a competitor and they want to discourage our users before we get too large.  If Google complains about 1 or 2 links that are bad, and tells me to remove a link, why don't they just flag that 1 link instead of our millions of links, flagging our entire domain which affects 1000's of websites.

And yes we are under constant development.  I have two staffers and our developer is top notch.  He has converted almost the entirety of the underlying structure of the website, streamlining it so we can survive and grow exponentially.

Good to hear regarding the development Smiley

Google - Traffic dropped but it seems to be back to normal great response regarding the situation Smiley

65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Bounty.05btc] USB drives stops/freeze/hangs on: August 04, 2013, 11:25:12 PM
Had a chat with our senior engineers here.

Recommendations:

Update your chipset drivers ( motherboard drivers )

Complete a speed test on the flash sticks, see what they bug out on - sequential read/writes or both.

USB 3.0 will not cause any issues, its an open standard - 2.0 is 120% supported.

How old are the sticks? Do take into consideration flash drives only have a limited data usage life, e.g how many cycles are used.

Also what file system are you running on the drives? Some drives dont like fat, some dont like ntfs.

66  Other / Politics & Society / Re: PRISM - Who else is disgusted by this? on: August 04, 2013, 11:21:08 PM
Wouldnt surprise me at all if they cease all operations and activities or even sponsor some radicals until the public cries for their help and thus all their secret programs. Would be just the logical consequence to justify their crimes from an institution point of view.
I'll go for that.

Stop Obama supporting Al Queda, sending them weapons under the table.

"  Al Queda " is just a puppet.
67  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITNZ Exchange - Reliable? on: August 04, 2013, 10:49:16 PM
An alternative in NZ would be good. The guy running BitNZ... I think sounds like a busy guy and doesn't need the income so much. I think it's run, certainly at the start as a charitable thing for Bitcoin point of view.

As such, I hate to say it since it's a profit making thing but... don't moan too hard as we need the site up and running.

Hopefully an alternative in NZ will turn up at some point as a backup.

I'd also like to see a market order option to help newbies. That change didn't happen either which makes me think it's always going to be a bit neglected.

Im considering starting up a NZ BTC exchange myself, I have developers & servers Smiley
68  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITNZ Exchange - Reliable? on: August 04, 2013, 10:32:22 PM
He usually does it manually once a week, not one business day as it says on the website.

Once a week? Pathetic... He should really update his website, it will stop users from getting annoyed.

69  Economy / Service Discussion / BITNZ Exchange - Reliable? on: August 04, 2013, 10:09:28 PM

We have been using bitnz.com for sometime now, an NZD - BTC exchange.

The first couple of months was good however now, deposits from NZD into NZ bank accounts is becoming well, a daunting task.

3 times now we have made withdrawals in NZD and instead of taking one business day which is advertised, it seems to take 4-5 business days. Sometimes even a weekend.

Anyone else experiencing a lag in withdrawals from bitnz?

70  Economy / Services / Re: need a hacker on: August 04, 2013, 09:39:06 PM
Realistically, finding someone based on a vhost is like aiming at a target 2km's away with a rifle that has a range of 1km.

Vhosts/BNC's and VPN's are used to stop people from doing what your doing - finding out who they are.

Best of luck Smiley

73  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government surveillance, getting too intrusive? or is it required? on: August 04, 2013, 10:18:01 AM
Look at this this way, 2,500 govt employees hold 4+ million people to tax ransom here in NZ. Its crazy.
74  Other / Politics & Society / Government surveillance, getting too intrusive? or is it required? on: August 04, 2013, 09:20:39 AM
Here in New Zealand the GCSB bill is coming into play allowing the govt to basically " spy " on New Zealand residents for " terrorism " and acts of criminal behaviour etc.

However, in the past they have not had the best record of keeping secure - leaks are happening all the time.

What do you think about government intelligence watching citizens?

More info here of what New Zealand's govt is doing.. What is the GCSB Bill? ( Government Communications Security Bureau )

77  Economy / Services / Re: [CoinURL] All ways to monetize your content! [BID LOW AGAIN! PLACE ADS!!] on: July 26, 2013, 10:38:06 AM
Removed mine.

Also I want to know why the hell I have to pay 12% of MY BITCOIN that I transferred to advertise. I've transferred some of it out and haven't seen 1cent yet.

This whole thing now smells funny...

The guy who runs coinurl is trustworthy, I've sent him a pm and he usually replies within 12 hours.

78  Economy / Services / Re: [CoinURL] All ways to monetize your content! [BID LOW AGAIN! PLACE ADS!!] on: July 21, 2013, 10:29:33 PM
Publishers
1. Extremely low click price
2. Click fee of 40%
3. Withdrawal fee of 12%

Advertisers
1. less than 1% ROI
2. Very weak proxy/vpn detection

I will now stop using CoinURL.

Nice troll post, But to be honest - IMO - Depending on the content you publish, or advertise - Really does depend on your ROI.

You haven't given a product sale, or detail relating to your ROI of 1%. So we could all assume your trying to sell 19 inch dildo's via BTC, they are not going to sell.

Proxy/vpn detection in an anonymous based advertising medium? Get real.

Click fee of 40%? Doubt it.

Withdrawal fee - yeah I wonder who pays for the server bills every month at coinurl? hrmmm thats a tough one!

Low click price, thats a bonus - What we would spend in google ( $250 ) we only spend $10 for the same result in coinurl.
