61  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it a good long term investment to buy 1 BTC today? on: February 27, 2016, 09:58:51 AM
As I can see the price, it's the right time to buy now since I heard some rumor that bitcoin's value will got higher about 25% in the middle of the year.
I'm personally also bought some bits and hold until the time has come

Where is the rumour? I think the price will be $700 or higher after the halving. That is over 70% higher.
62  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it a good long term investment to buy 1 BTC today? on: February 26, 2016, 08:55:40 AM
I think it's not good for long term investment on bitcoin. Because we don't know next year or next 5 years bitcoin still exist or not. better invest on short term, so you don't need to wait so long.

It will always be better safe than nothing. Withdraw some and keep it. Then grow again what is left of your bitcoin. Once profit is there keep again some. Just do this for a year and you will see you wont be needing to worry about the long term investment.

I would suggest to buy many bitcoins, but do not buy in a day. Buy it when you have some spare cash.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU utilization on: February 26, 2016, 08:54:36 AM
I'm mining the x11 algorithm with my GTX 970 I have it set to only use 58% of the power with EVGA PrecisionX.
I wanted to try to lower the GPU utilization in order to save the wear and tear on my card as this is my main PC
Is there any way to lower the GPU utilization with ccminer?

or is utilization even the issue that I'm trying to correct if I want to save the life of the card?

Thanks in advance.

A GPU is a solid state device. No moving parts, no mechanics, therefore no wear and tear. As long as you keep to the default voltage and don't allow it to overheat it will last exactly the same amount of time running at 50% as it will running at 100%

 100% wrong.

The hotter ANY electronic device runs, the shorter it's lifetime (on average) will be.

Running it at 100% WILL make it run hotter.

This is WHY manufacturers will VOID YOUR GUARENTEE if they can prove or have reasonable reason to believe you have overclocked a GPU (or CPU or any other device that has a clock that can be adjusted in it) - it puts quite a bit more heat stress on the components which shortens their lifetimes to quite a bit less than designed for.

I agree with you. But he mentioned "do not let it over heat". As long as no over heating, the card will last long.
64  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I quit trading on: February 26, 2016, 08:52:45 AM
Why you should do that. It is not smart. Bitcoin will be now worth later in the future and that will be also good for trading.
I know that you are very negative about the btc price are, but there is now a change. It is rising now and that is good.

For most of us, it is better to keep the bitcoin in our own wallet and hold for the long term. Leave the trading to the professionals.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU utilization on: February 26, 2016, 08:50:54 AM
okay awesome, I  can't remember where but I thought I remembered reading that the strain from it running at 100% constantly could lead to the cards life being shortened.

That might have been referring to the fans. Obviously they are mechanical and do suffer from wear and tear.

Just a little FYI. I've been running a pair of 970's at 100% load with a 100mhz overclock, 24/7 for the past 9 months. They're actually running the Folding@home program which requires much higher levels of stability than mining or gaming does. Therefore undervolting is out of the question, and sometimes overvolting is needed to keep an overclock stable.  Side effect of this is higher power usage and more heat. I've had the fans set to run 100% since day one, and just recently I've noticed a little "whining" starting, and also a little oscilation in the fans rotation.

For the AMD cards, using 280x as example, the default core voltage is 1.2v, but it is too high, usually, 1.12 could support the 1000MHz core frequency.

Yes. For most of the mining programs, you can undervolt the voltage of Core or memory to generate less heat.
67  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it a good long term investment to buy 1 BTC today? on: February 25, 2016, 10:14:02 AM
Yes if it increases more we will become rich in a good long term.

Only if you buy a lot, 1 btc is not enough to make you rich someday.
yeah, to feel the effects of rising prices, you have to buy a lot of bitcoin, so if prices go up you can become rich
if you want to make a big profit let the price going down on $200-$300 then buy(all-in) if you have a much patience to wait, you will earn double or maybe triple.

but when? if it takes 6 or 7 years then no one can wait that much. I personally like buy and sell in 3 to 1 week. I think buy bitcoin and wait for long time is not a good idea. we should carry our work.
and if you wait that long, not necessarily the price that would happen. bitcoin will surely continue to grow rose. and people also do not want to wait too long. better to buy when the price falls, and maximize opportunitie

Investment is for the long term. If you cannot wait for 5-10 years, it is better not to invest. Just trading.
68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your biggest problem with Bitcoin on: February 25, 2016, 10:12:38 AM
the problem I faced when using bitcoin is not all places that sell my needs every day accept bitcoin as a medium of payment. still need time to be able to accept bitcoin globally in their daily lives.

That is the problem for now. It will be solved when bitcoin become more popular and more accepted in the future.
69  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I quit trading on: February 25, 2016, 10:10:36 AM
As you are having 40 btc (I consider you as a Mini Whale)

I can see many people having more than 10 btc are enjoying trades at the cost of small traders.

I would rather suggest to invest in a potential coin sit back and enjoy profits Smiley

In the bitcoin trade, people with 40 or 100 bitcoin are not whales. They can easily be absorbed by markets.

how much btc do you think is enough to qualify one as a whale?

In order to move a market in an exchange, you need at least 1000 bitcoin to do that. That is just a small whale.

when my own benefit then I will stop. and I will repeat it from the beginning.  Wink

You could be right. The trading is a zero sum activity. It does not create any value. You have to pay fees.
71  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitbond – Bitcoin P2P loans on: February 24, 2016, 10:22:52 AM
Hi

Does anyone has bad encounter with BitBond?

I have made 5 investments, 3 of them have defaulted, including one A-grade.
Is this bad enough? Smiley

How can you make sure you do not have default customers? Do you have identity of the borrower?

i trade like all people buy low and waiiit to the price to get higher and then boom sell all and welcome profit :p it can take days but it beter than saving them in wallet

It's simple dude every body use to do buy when price is low and  use to sell when price is high. But you can bitcoin at present situation dude. Due to halving.

How do you know when the price is high and when it is low? At any price, there are buyers and sellers.
74  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy wallets in maintenance prior to closure? on: February 24, 2016, 10:15:32 AM
I would assume that they were in maintenance because there was nothing left in the wallets for users to withdraw.  Basically your coins were already gone by then (I assume).  I don't think anything is left.  I have some bitcoins and US dollars that still show up in my account balance, but they don't really have that money to allow me to withdraw.

The coins were gone in 2014 according to the Cryptsy. I don not know if I should believe them or not.
75  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy wallets in maintenance prior to closure? on: February 23, 2016, 09:19:57 AM
Has anything been said about enabling the endless list of offline/maintenance wallets on Cryptsy?

There are many that have been offline long before their shut down :p

I think it will take many months before we hear from Cryptsy again. The operator BigVern has fled to China.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your biggest problem with Bitcoin on: February 23, 2016, 09:16:28 AM
The biggest problem is that you do not know what is going to happen. And that is difficult to expect when you must buy and sell it.
The value now is increasingly slowly and that is good for the most people that had made a investment.

There is also a chance that is can fall too. But the chance is very low.

Biggest problem? I think it also happen when you invest in stock or forex Roll Eyes
But, experienced trader or investor don't find it as biggest problem though.

That is the general problem of many investment products. One problem related to bitcoin is that the developers have conflict of interests.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: which takes more transaction fees-paypal or bitcoin? on: February 23, 2016, 09:14:47 AM
bitcoin is much lower fee than paypal.

For the time being, Bitcoin transaction is much cheaper than the Paypal. If the block size increases, it could be even cheaper.

www.dualminer.com is open to take orders for iBeLink™ DM384M ASIC Dash miner.

https://dashtalk.org/threads/ibelink-dm384m-asic-dash-miner.8070/page-3

If it is just preorder, then I think most of the buyers will not ROI. The manufacturer will "test" it before the release.
79  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Another Cloud mining Scam? on: February 23, 2016, 09:12:11 AM
Stay away from any cloud mining, I lost over 2 bitcoins in the past. In my opinion, gambling away Bitcoin is better at least you have done fun.

If the difficulty does not rise, or just rise 2% every month, then the cloud mining is profitable for us.

The diff does not rise 2% every month, it rises 20% every month. So how this can be profitable?

That is my point. I think the cloud mining will not be profitable for us. It is for the operator of the service.
80  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your biggest problem with Bitcoin on: February 22, 2016, 09:34:15 AM
For me it is the the amount of scammers that are surrounded with bitcoin. It gives bitcoin a bad name and frightnes potential adopters/ companies to get started with bitcoin.
The way bitcoin works, leaves no dissatisfaction to me.

Scammers give bitcoin a bad name, it make people think it is easily hackable and associated with bad people.
