61  Economy / Reputation / Re: Lauda -> Proven to Abuse Trust (Corrupt + Poisonous) on: June 24, 2017, 11:00:43 AM

Every time this user comes online to post, they spread lies and complain about "censorship", "defamation" and other nonsense . It is also very likely that this account is compromised.
I wouldn't trust anything coming from said user.
Did I state something that was not correct? Lips sealed
No.  However, I consider it far more important to provide a reference for the second part than the first, as that's something that should require an explanation.

The OP has posted in Chinese recently, and used to post in it before the recent change in attitude.  If the OP really wants to prove that his account was not compromised he could sign from the address 1Ed7y6jGzXgA42Vsbvd9oB7Pzt5SsJQi7e, but I consider it fairly unlikely that the account was compromised.

What's more likely is that the OP was an alt account of someone who has recently been opposed to Lauda, and has now begun to argue using that account as well.  Especially since 99.9% of people who post in Games and Rounds are alt accounts.
62  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Finsbury Park attack:one dead in 'potential terrorist attack' near London mosque on: June 24, 2017, 09:33:00 AM
Who comes to the country with the sword will die by the sword, so was said in the Testament. It is just matter of time before London and Paris become like Lebanon - used to be 84% christian before muslims from all over migrated to it and started replacing natives.

If I am not mistaken, these cities are already lost. The Muslim population in London is close to 25%
According to the 2011 consensus it's half of that.  Don't just make up numbers.  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_London
Quote from: Sithara007
, and that city even has a Muslim mayor.
He has a name you know.  He's Sadiq Khan, and has been a pretty decent mayor as of yet.
Quote from: Sithara007
The proportion in Paris and Brussels is even higher. The white flight has been going on for many decades in these cities.
Nice little Freudian slip there.  Plenty of people like you like to claim not to be racist and just against Muslims, but Muslims are sometimes white as well.  You're assuming that Muslims are anyone you see with darker skin.
63  Economy / Speculation / Re: any chance bitcoin to rise up to $5000 this year or a fatal crash? on: June 24, 2017, 09:23:55 AM
I just read a news and now they are saying bitcoin speculators are the new day traders which definitely means the volume is rising and so are the traders.

Rising trading volume doesn't necessarily raise the price.
There's a pretty damn strong correlation though.  Rising volume indicates that there's an increasing amount of hype which usually means that there will be a breakout one way or another.  In the midst of a bull market, there's not much chance of increasing volume being bearish.

Hello all experts, what do you guys think about it? Is there any chance for bitcoin the digital currency to rise up to the level of $5000 this year. I just read a news and now they are saying bitcoin speculators are the new day traders which definitely means the volume is rising and so are the traders.
In 2020 or sooner Bitcoin mining reward will half again to 6.25 BTC per block.
The effect of halvings on the price is overestimated IMO.  It mainly just decreases how much the miners need to dump on the market.
It is not going to happen before 2018. Let's be realistic, bitcoin prices already raised about 140% this year and more likely will hit 3500$ till november.
I love when "realistic" means "this is just like any other investment! Bitcoin isn't known for wild swings in price or anything!".
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS] Google Bought Blockchain.info on: June 23, 2017, 11:18:53 PM
An investment firm related to Google has invested in one of Blockchain.info's funding rounds, the last of which was in 2014.

At least google isn't avoiding bitcoin like paypal is.   It would be sweet if they partnered up someday and bring the tech into android pay with fiat as collateral escrow or such.
PayPal is not "avoiding Bitcoin", in the slightest.  Instead, they're trying hard to stay relevant in comparison.

Not "avoiding Bitcoin", just "not Bitcoin".  Key distinction there.
65  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-06-22] Vitalik's Quantum Conundrum - ETH's Ethical Quandry on: June 23, 2017, 06:45:23 PM
It certainly raises some interesting questions about developer anonymity and whether the trustworthiness of an individual has bearing on the code they produce.  Would people feel differently about Bitcoin if Satoshi was ever identified and had made questionable decisions on any previous projects they might have been involved with?
But there's a very important difference.  By the time that Bitcoin was a significant project and the biggest bugs had been ironed out, satoshi no longer had any influence (post-December 2010).

Vitalik has a huge amount of power and responsibility as a public figure.  With the amount of control that he has over Ethereum to dictate its entire future, it's clear that he should be personally questioned and scrutinised.

Furthermore, when there are elements of ETH that appear problematic, like the scaling problems that it's experiencing similarly to Bitcoin, it's reasonable to think that when Vitalik is willing to take people's money for things he can't do, he might be out his depth with this one as well.
66  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What are the Most Peaceful Countries? on: June 23, 2017, 03:04:24 PM
Really??

My country are in position 78? And Greece is in position 73? Senegal in position 60?

Brazil is in position 100?

Wow, my country are in a good position.

Something Shocked me, why the hell is the United States in position 114?

Because the US has been almost constantly at war since it's inception, and in the past 50 years or so has started more wars than I can think of.

Deaths from guns are also very common, not that the NRA would admit that.

Even though the US doesn't tend to be on the receiving end of attacks, there can be a lot of hate crime and unsettling behaviour, especially from governments.

Really depends on what you think peace is for a country.  The US often does not contribute to peace.
67  Other / Meta / Re: Do you like theymos and the censorship here, reddit, bitcoinorg and GitHub? on: June 23, 2017, 02:31:35 PM
Regardless of what you think of r/Bitcoin (I also think that censorship is prominent there and that both r/Bitcoin and r/BTC are complete echo chambers for their respective sides), Bitcointalk is pretty free and the moderators are very hands-off.

Actually, it's hilarious to see threads with >100 pages of posts for a thread from someone who can't speak English, even when the threads basically only have 2 answers.

Despite the crap trust system, opponents to SegWit are pretty freely vocal as well.
68  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hardware wallets? on: June 23, 2017, 02:19:07 PM
Personally, I have a TREZOR.  Not too familiar with Ledger or Keepkey but I think they're somewhat similar to it.

Not sure what is preferred, and is it correct that the wallets themselves doesn't actually store your coins?
No.  TREZOR holds your private keys and xan sign transactions.  It has to connect to a computer for you to spend from an interface, but TREZOR have took a lot of cool precautions which stop you from revealing a lot on your computer screen, and it also acts as a kind of 2fa device.
Quote from: Skrodk
are they better than a simply paper wallet?
Hard to say.  A benefit is that they're very easy to set up with additional passphrases, hidden wallets and other features which make it almost impossible to steal your coins.

However, a slight point of failure could be updates.  Verify the SatoshiLabs' signed message before updating, and make sure to check places like the TREZOR thread and subreddit to make sure the updates are not malicious.

It also depends on how you generate your paper wallet and where you store it.  Hard to make a reasonable comparison.
69  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-06-22] The Bitcoin Bubble Will Turn Into Mania Before It Bursts on: June 23, 2017, 09:42:25 AM
My mind is having a hard time digesting so many predictions and opinions about the Bitcoin Bubble. While there are so many self-proclaimed analysts determining that soon we can lose our money because Bitcoin can burst at the seams, there are also those who are defending the Bitcoin telling us that it will not be a bubble due to many factors like this and like that.
It has always been like this. I have been reading through plenty of articles back in the days how "experts" literally break down Bitcoin and explain how it will never reach $100 for the first time. And if it would touch the $100 level, it would directly be Bitcoin's highest ever price. Guess what? It did hit $100 and it literally demolished all other levels after that as well. Just look where we stand right now, never pay attention to all those bubble suckers. If we had to believe these "experts", Bitcoin's entire existence is one big bubble...
Long story short, the price is somewhat overbought, no doubt about, but this in no way comes even close to a bubble.
At every point some analyst will tell you it can't go any further, but media outlets are just looking for some clickbait.  I bet the majority of analysts are fairly neutral.

That said, the negative analysts' predictions can easily be right.  People like to be excessively positive about the Bitcoin price as if they have to when they're posting on a Bitcoin forum, but while these analysts >5 year predictions are most likely wrong, their short term predictions are often considered properly.

Bitcoin is overbought.  It's either headed for a bubble post-SegWit or it'll relax for a while.
70  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: The New TorWallet.com Scamming again! on: June 23, 2017, 09:31:17 AM
Any hope I can get back money?

The site looked very legit, and I fell for it.
Bitcoin transactions are not reversible.  Unfortunately you could only get back your money if:

-They sent it back because they're lovely people (unlikely);
-They got caught by authorities and were forced to give it back (unusual/unlikely/criminals tend to keep their coins safe);
-You're secretly a miner with over 50% of the hashrate and you could reverse your own transactions.   Wink

Sorry but you're most likely not getting your coins back.
71  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Livecoin.net on: June 23, 2017, 08:47:49 AM
Livecoin were listing absolute bottom-of-the-barrel shitcoins, as well as some potential scamcoins.

Either they're in bed with scammers, they are scammers or they're turning into YoBit where you can only just do anything and you only trade there to grab some Theresa May Coin.
72  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is showing what could be a head and shoulders reversal pattern on: June 23, 2017, 08:34:40 AM
We're still deep in the middle of a bull market.

The good news that SegWit signalling could be imminent when they actually need to is going to push the price up higher within a month.  After that who knows.

Technical analysis is utter bullshit anyway.  The charts are just a representation of market activity.  The more technical analysts that are involved, the less fundamentals actually determine the value of Bitcoin and the more the price is just empty speculation.  Not to mention the fact that it's essentially gambling because people have different ideas on it.

It's hilarious to see these people gambling their money on a bear market being really soon based on nothing.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Atm coming soon in Northern California on: June 23, 2017, 08:20:31 AM
For now, Bitcoin ATMs aren't much good.  They're nice as a concept, but ordinary ATMs just transfer between fiat and digital fiat.  We're talking about a new currency altogether.

The fees on these things must be an absolute godsend to their owners.  The ones in my area have fees of >5%, and sometimes even >10%.

For anything other than a gimmick, it's not that significant.  Just buy online or on LocalBitcoins.

That said, hopefully it helps to raise awareness of Bitcoin in the local area.
74  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: risk management - name 7 coins - balanced portfolio for the summer on: June 23, 2017, 08:03:56 AM
Litecoin (25%)
Digibyte (20%)
Byteball(20%)
Maidsafecoin (15%)
Namecoin (10%)
Feathercoin (7.5%)
Ubiq (2.5%)

That would be my balanced but those are the currencies I believe have a future. Your opinions may be different but these all have solid credentials behind them. Also some sleeping giants here.
Feathercoin... I rest my case.

Still, I agree with most of this.

1.  Bitcoin (40%)
2.  Byteball (15%)
3.  MaidSafe (10%)
4.  Litecoin (15%)
5.  Monero (10%)
6.  I get lost in the world of shitcoins after about there.  ETH is not recommended, it might stay up for now but from an objective standpoint it's basically trash.

Always keep majority in BTC.  If you find that a couple of them are low afterwards, find out more about them.
75  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin is a rat poison? on: June 23, 2017, 07:50:54 AM
I have no idea who Charlie Munger is but people are claiming he was the one who said that and not Warren buffet. I also see no difference personally, just because he is a legendary investor, It doesn't make his words 100% true, he could be right or wrong just like anyone of us, It will take time to know for sure. It's no secret that some people are trying to spread FUD though and no one should take it seriously.
Warren Buffet has always told people not to invest in things they don't understand.  In that case, I suppose he's following his own rules by not investing in Bitcoin.

But he really needs to set himself some boundaries as to what he says about it.

What he actually did call Bitcoin is a "mirage" and argued that it didn't have intrinsic value.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Perspective: Bill Gates Worth More, Gold 200 Times More on: June 23, 2017, 12:33:07 AM
The difference is that Bill Gates could actually get a significant portion of that money out in a pinch.  Market caps for currencies, especially Bitcoin, are largely meaningless in this case because in reality a few billion would absolutely throw BTC off a cliff at this point.

What people need to recognise is that we're deep in the innovator phase of the adoption curve, at the very least in terms of money.

Just goes to show how much upward potential blockchain technology has when its real applications (not current ICO hype)become more apparent.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Raises 40 million+ on: June 23, 2017, 12:25:32 AM
Blockchain is the technology that could change the way how banking sector operates in the future
Did you even read the damn article? This is about the company Blockchain, running the blockchain.info wallet and block explorer.

My view is that every single company in the crypto space has decided that they can get millions from doing nothing.  Any ICO with a nice website and white paper can get millions with no real effort.  Blockchain.info is only different because they have bigger names behind the investment.

Like all Bitcoin companies (I would have said blockchain companies), they're not short of cash. They claimed that their revenues were going to be over 1000% in the past year, yet they couldn't afford to go and make normal fee estimation when it was needed?  It really is shocking.

I guess they need their third homes and hundred thousand BTC yachts before they decide to act like a reasonable or responsible private company.
78  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer - mixing reinvented on: June 22, 2017, 05:25:12 PM
7 days ago we've created Electrum plugin. No response yet.

No worries, here is Telegram bot:

-snip-

What does it do?
Allows you to use ChipMixer with Telegram chat client.

Is it private?
No. Here is quick list of who gets what of your private information:

Telegram owner:
- all the data - addreses, private keys

ChipMixer:
- we don't get your phone number or your ip
- but we can link all of your sessions (not that we do that)

Any strong points of bot?
1. Easy to use, especially on mobile phone.
2. Every time you start a session, you save recovery link.

This is not our main product but since we've had API for Electrum plugin ready, we did it as proof of concept. We are looking for feedback.

Great concept, and having it in telegram in my opinion makes the mixing process a lot more accessible and easier to understand than most other bitcoin mixers that are out there. Obviously people that are using this telegram bot instead of the actual TOR site/website will be compromising on their privacy here, but i think the main point of this product is to get people used to the process instead of anything that is aimed at the privacy-centric individuals.
It's obviously about privacy-centric individuals.  It's a mixer, that's what they do.

There's a distinction between privacy-centric individuals and criminals.  A privacy centric individual could be a rich person who doesn't want to reveal the funds in their address, for example.  A criminal would want to avoid anything which could potentially result in them getting traced.  This includes telegram bots.

If it really matters, people will not use it because they're not idiots when they're talking about large sums of money.  When it matters less, Telegram is fine.  It's not like they could access your funds.
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit agreement with >80% miner agreement. on: June 22, 2017, 08:20:31 AM
the emergent consensus will get ...
Emergent consensus has nothing to do with this. Forget anything to do with BU, that's been long forgotten by the power players. Any reference to EC in their block signature is there for legacy reasons and doesn't remotely mean they're interested in BU any more. BU supporters will insist this isn't the end for them and that it's still compatible with segwit2x, but then so is XT, classic and any other defunct attempt at a takeover from the past that never activates and stays on the current chain waiting to take it over at some unforeseen parallel universe future. Forget EC.

So... forget Segwit then? After all, it's also a defunct attempt at a takeover from the past that never activates... UASF is crap, and Segwit2x doesn't have a codebase or dev support last I checked.  Unlimited has both of those (inb4 "but it's buggy", etc.).

People seem very confident about what will happen based on what people are saying. Remember that miners don't trust Core at all after they breached the Hong Kong agreement. Miners are perfectly within the negotiating rules to say whatever they want. What they (and the other players in this game) will do is another matter entirely.
The clock is ticking for miners.  If they've already agreed to activate SegWitx2 when they can, they can't really back out of it.  People would get pissed off and UASF would look a lot more realistic than it did before.

EC/BU is irrelevant because support has flatlined while SegWitx2 support is now soaring.
80  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 18, 2017, 05:26:00 PM

so quoting a dash website article that quotes that sirer guy who's been spouting junk for months?

got a more convincing source?
It's a shit source but this is an opinion piece rather than actual news.  We should consider the arguments made instead of what source there is for the limited information they provide.

Bitcoin is heading for at least one split if you ask me.  Will that cause a price drop?  Yes, in the short term.  Will it cause "The Flippening"?  Maybe for a little while in terms of market cap, but it won't actually matter.

I tend to regard google trends as the best indicator of "the flippening" anyway, and ETH isn't anywhere near bitcoin if you measure it that way instead.

Bullish outcome, bearish event IMO.
