I started vanitygen on my work's 32 core production (that hosts like a hundred VMs) and let it run without knowing it would use 100% CPU on all cores. Fucking fail. Or was it? 1abrknajSFpnz7MHjLkVnuvCbwd96wSYt

Are you still employed? Because THAT would be an awesome punchline.

"Plz send to bitcoin address, since I am now unemployed" Cheesy

Did you hear Darth Vader is single again? If you ask me, he’s been looking for love in Alderaan places.

Which Imperial commander was afraid of swimming? Darth Wader.

Star Wars fans are a fairly unhappy bunch. For every one that’s content you “see three P-O’d”

How did the astromech droid get around the road work? He took an R2-Detour.

What do you call a Tattooine coffee shop? Java the Hutt.

What movie were you watching when your VW was recalled? Return of the Jetta.

Were the deserts of Luke’s youth havens for body art? Yes, there was lots of Tattoine.

Punch some numbers into that and play around with the ideas.

Edit: Don't forget the block reward will halve soon too! (25 coins/block)
68  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do people assign value to Bitcoins? on: November 05, 2012, 03:41:51 PM
Bitcoins, which you can think of like 'Internet Cash', can't be traced (easily) and cannot be revoked (chargeback) once sent). Once the payment is made, that's it.

It's a double-edged sword though since who you send to can just say 'thanks very much, bye'.

The value comes from it being used to barter for things that people wish to keep quiet, like illegal drugs.
69  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for programmer for a pool on: November 05, 2012, 03:23:36 PM
The problem with setting up a pool now is that you will need significant traction in order to make it worth people switching. No good if you're PPLNS and there's not enough people to find blocks then there's long periods of nothing at all. If you're a PPS type pool, where are the funds coming from in order to cover payouts since pool hashrate will be low. Another thing too, where is this pool going to be hosted? You need an amazingly good uptime and connectivity in order to make it worth people's time to switch.

I myself am a programmer and system admin of many years and the idea of setting up a pool gives me pause, so I'm curious to know what you think about it. Smiley

You can sell your bitcoins on ebay.

If you don't mind losing them to scammers who WILL do disputes and chargebacks and all sorts of crap

72  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet on: November 05, 2012, 02:45:42 PM
Great Info...

However, as I am not a wealthy man in bitcoins, I still use blockchain.info 's wallet, as it appears to be pretty secure to me.

If I however be wealthy in btc's, I will surely add more protection to my money.

Thanks.

blockchain.info works for me too Smiley .. nice and simple I find. What you can also do is make a private key for an address that you only keep locally safe (written on paper in safe deposit box even). The corresponding address can be added as a 'view only' address in blockchain.info. You can then send coins TO that address, but cannot be sent FROM that address without the super-secure private key. So periodically you can secure a number of coins.

I opened my account some days ago. I almost got crazy looking to open a topic with questions. But I don't feel too comfortable with so much restrictions. I guess it must be done to control the spam.

Seems that's what to do here, is post here and hope to bide your time while reading other threads
