61  Economy / Lending / Re: Why borrow here when you have a collateral? on: January 04, 2020, 03:27:52 PM
Assume someone has tokens in his wallet but he doesn't want to sell them right now as the price for that token can soar any time. So, he can go with the loan here with an option to keep them for longer and sell later.
If the price of that token goes below the liquidity lever lender can sell the token and get his money back. If not, the borrower gets his tokens back and sell them later.
62  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust Suggestion on: January 01, 2020, 09:00:15 PM
If we all agree on your point and assume that rebuilding the trust system is the only way to make it flawless and better than the previous version. We still have to face the same challenges that we faced with the default trust system. At some point, people will find two separate ways over some points.

Starting from the beginning will have some severe effects as well.
--Already tagged people get a chance to pull another scam on someone.
--Efforts will be required from people in DT. They have to work continuously to make it stable again.
63  Economy / Collectibles / Re: KrogothManhattan's Free Daily Raffle Rules. Please read prior to participating! on: January 01, 2020, 08:38:08 PM
I always miss these raffles. I need to get a utility, so I get an alert on every KrogothManhattan's post to catch them up on time.  Cheesy

Why did free raffle shift to the Games and Rounds section?
Are these coins are not collectable and don't hold any collectable value?

I rarely play MULTIPLY BTC game, but when I do, I try not to forget to check the JP box. As you can see from my stats
I'd never expect to win that special 8888 bet probably ever, I lack your confidence / luck.   Gods of chance have blessed you clearly  Grin

The Lambo draw appears to be a generous contest and a great addition if its raising alot of attention then it justifies itself that way, its a nice bonus of the site being so big and long term established.
And here I am. I thought it just a hypothetical number made not to hit ever just like 10,000.

@TheQuin
--How many people hit that 10,000 in a day? Would love to have that statistic in the stats section.
--How many people hit that 8888 in a day?
--Does Multiply BTC and Free BTC both using the same algorithm to draw a number?

I have serious trust issue on the site but they proved me wrong every time. Hope, they keep doing it that way. Cheesy Cheesy
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Future of BNB? on: January 01, 2020, 05:05:52 AM
I'm not sure what caused such drop to BNB but I'm happy as I can buy some of them now. I see potential in BNB and transparency is the main factor not like other exchanges that manipulate volume.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 888,888 KickTokens Frozen Drop to each of 167,375 crypto users on: January 01, 2020, 04:58:25 AM
You won't see any project with such a scenario. The token is down by 99.97% and they are still trying to trick people by airdropping them. I almost got tricked into it.
Maybe their so-called mathematical equation checks whether user ever held kick token if not then send frozen airdrop.  Cheesy Cheesy
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 888,888 KickTokens Frozen Drop to each of 167,375 crypto users on: December 31, 2019, 09:05:25 PM
Nobody wants these absolutely trash tokens, nobody cares about sh*tcoins anymore so I don't even know why you would bother spamming the forum with these trash airdrops.

I predict these will be worth close to zero if/when they ever hit an exchange, so you've almost certainly wasted your time claiming the airdrop.
I checked both my addresses and saw 888,888 Kicktokens in my account worth around 72 USD. I haven't searched much about the token and when I did.

Coinmarketcap KickToken ROI  -99.97%

It is trash. I don't see them go anywhere from here  Cheesy

Note: I haven't claimed them, they were randomly airdropped on both addresses.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 888,888 KickTokens Frozen Drop to each of 167,375 crypto users on: December 31, 2019, 08:48:40 PM
Kicktokens decided to do frozen drop to some random crypto users and interestingly I received it on two of my Ethereum addresses.

Condition to unlock the frozen drop is still unknown. Airdrops are good to attract the attention of users.

Anyone here who got lucky and got the Airdrop as well?

69  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Feature idea: give DT1 the ability to remove specific feedbacks from DT on: December 30, 2019, 09:01:32 PM
The idea of downvoting a default trust looks good to me. Instead of asking to remove someone's personal opinion it's better to move it to untrusted feedback with some voting.

-What if someone does a thing in future and the same person marks him again. Will it go as untrusted or trusted feedback?

Perhaps requiring maybe 5 DT members to agree with a down vote before confirming it would be a good idea.

5 DT’s agree & click down vote ensures potentially harsh or unfair neg is not shown by default.

Even better I guess.

License is about to expire in the next few months what will you suggest me to use?
Healthy online habits is the most important things. If you have that, you will be satisfied with the most basic protection. Avira is free and pretty light-weight. I've used Avast in the past but ended up uninstalling it after an update blocked me from accessing the Internet. I think the Windows Defender is getting better and better as well.

Can't rely on free anti-viruses I'll end up installing bloatware. Although I'm using hardware wallet still I'll stick to some paid anti-virus.
71  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Firmware 1.6.0 - Known Bugs and Issues on: December 30, 2019, 04:36:55 AM
Updated my ledger after knowing it is not mandatory to put 24-word recovery phrase again. Everything went well without any issue and applications are also working fine. BTC, LTC and ETH are tested and working as expected.
72  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to sign bitcoin message on LedgerLive on: December 30, 2019, 04:31:01 AM
It's blocking network traffic... it isn't the app itself:

Essentially, the data being received from the Electrum server (ie. crypto related data, blockheaders, transactions etc) is being flagged because it "looks like the same type of information that a 'coinminer' malware also transmits"... It isn't flagging Electrum as malware.

Norton is basically trash... it's more "malware" than Electrum! Roll Eyes Tongue
Cheesy
Your statement looks logical and justifies what is happening here. Whenever the application is trying to download the latest block data from the server Norton is generating an alert. I'll ignore the warning from here on. thanks
License is about to expire in the next few months what will you suggest me to use?
73  Other / Meta / [Just Kidding] Merit giveaway board request in marketplace on: December 29, 2019, 04:08:31 PM
Looking at the number posts came after Hhampuz decided to do merit giveaways through meta section. We can have a Merit giveaway board where people can give away their merits.

Benefits:-
-People can do giveaways without making a mess in the Meta section with off-topic posts.
-People in need will know where to look for quick merits if they are near to achieve a milestone.

Drawbacks:-
-Merit exchange between users will be easily possible.
-People can trade their merit point in the name of a giveaway.

Electrum is often wrongly flagged by anti virus software as malware. They even state that on their download page.
What is the exact site you downloaded Electrum from? Don't guess but check your browser history so you are 100% sure of the site!

http://electrum.org/
Standalone Version 3.3.8

Message from anti-virus changed to "An intrusion attempt by btc.cihar.com was blocked." and it is so frequent that I'm uninstalling the electrum from my system.
Standalone version didn't require uninstallation?

Installed it through Windows installer and everything working smoothly without any warning from antivirus. The standalone version has something different in it that is causing the problem.

Here is virus total link:

75  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to sign bitcoin message on LedgerLive on: December 29, 2019, 08:49:59 AM
Path - 49'/1'/0'/0/0
Address - 1KSjWQQqVi9z7g1kgfSbguryvp8QZeaWyS
That '49' in the path is for P2WPKH-nested-in-P2SH "3-Segwit" account and the next '1' indicates that it's for testnet, not bitcoin.
But the webtool somehow set this path by default, if you select other coins then reselect "Bitcoin", it'll change into 49'/0'/0'/0/0.
The tool looks buggy to me.

BTW, for native Segwit, it should be: m/84'/0'/0'/0/0

If you need to sign using a Segwit address, follow their suggestions: use Electrum.
I tried using electrum but getting the below error.

"Failed to create a client for this device. Make sure it is in the correct state."
Try this fix: https://medium.com/@qertoip/ledger-electrum-error-failed-to-create-a-client-for-this-device-555a16b86fe8
Thanks for the URL it worked but now my Norton is giving a continuous warning about a potential coinminer alert.
Do I need to worry or should I ignore the warning by the antivirus?

76  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to sign bitcoin message on LedgerLive on: December 29, 2019, 08:34:48 AM
The address below is a legacy address, is it not?

Like I said previously, download Electrum, pair it up with your Ledger and you will have an option to sign messages.
Follow this tutorial if you are not sure how to do it. It is easy.
https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005161925-Set-up-and-use-Electrum
I tried using electrum but getting the below error.

"Failed to create a client for this device. Make sure it is in the correct state."

So, I unplugged the device and plugged it again and still getting the same error.

Webtool worked well and signed the message using the address below but I want to sign the message using segwit or native address.
What will be the path for segwit and native segwit?

Path - 49'/1'/0'/0/0
Address - 1KSjWQQqVi9z7g1kgfSbguryvp8QZeaWyS
78  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How to sign bitcoin message on LedgerLive on: December 28, 2019, 10:04:07 PM
I only use Ledger Live to update firmware, so i've no idea whether it's possible to sign message on Ledger Live.

You could try use another wallet software such as Bitcoin Core and Electrum which have sign message feature. And obviously you don't need to share your private key/mnemonic.
Can't afford to download the full blockchain, I'll go for the electrum.

Never see that feature yet on ledger live (though it should have asap) instead, I use electrum (desktop) or mycelium to signed message using ledger nano s.

Found this tool developed by them, but only for legacy address or just change the derivation path for segwit if works
https://blog.ledger.com/ledger-wallet-webtool/ (sign message)
I got a similar link of github with the same interface but didn't try that due to security reasons.
79  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / How to sign bitcoin message on LedgerLive on: December 28, 2019, 11:59:41 AM
I remember there was an option to sign a message on the ledger when I first used it.
Today I browsed every setting of the application and still unable to find that option.
Searched some article but they too didn't help much as the option is not there in the new version I guess.
Is there any way to sign a message without compromising my keys to a third party tool.
80  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: ledger Christmas Offer on: December 28, 2019, 11:51:35 AM
I already have two ledger nano s with me I don't want more not even with an offer. I'll prefer some upfront discount on the product.
Offer is good for new buyers as they can keep the other one as a backup and use it in case of travel or emergency.
