61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DARKNET [DNET] UNDER GOING PROFESSIONAL REBRANDING TO [PIVX] on: January 13, 2017, 10:03:49 PM
Really awesome so see a lot of buy support behind PIVx (formerly DarkNet). Looks like it is about to hit top 100 crypto by market cap.

There is now consistently under 3MM PIVx sell order supply driving up price. A lot of the core-team and early-investors appear to be sticking around for the long haul. Also, considering the fair distribution, crypto is a solid alternative to some other anonymous/private cryptos.

Masternodes are about $100 each, although BTC is all over the place, that that price is going to change. Returns on masternodes are solid. 10k to get started.

If you are interested in PIVx, I highly recommend getting an invite to the Slack channel. Community is pretty great. A lot of energy, and a lot of stuff getting done. Devs have a solid roadmap. Plus I am totally convinced (especially with recent regulation in China), this anonymous, privacy crypto have an insane amount of opportunity.

Keep up the great work guys!
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DarkNet (DNET) up 400% the past week. Breaks top 100 crypto by cap. Thoughts? on: November 07, 2016, 12:12:14 PM
As a correction, the masternode count is currently 1371, not 10k.

I also own a couple BTC's worth of DNET, most of it I mined and some of it I generated with masternodes and staking. But I'm not planning on selling any of it anytime soon.

I don't think the current 882 BTC marketcap with 47.6mil supply is where things will calm down. Long term this should be priced much higher imo. It's still pretty much flying under the radar.

Also, anyone can submit proposals to the network and masternode owners can vote on it which is awesome.

I should clarify. The masternodes require 10,000 DNET (Dash requires 1,000) for collateralization. There are 1,400 masternodes: http://178.254.23.111/~pub/DN/DN_masternode_payments_stats.html

What is crazy is the crypto still has a website in development but is already passed $650k market cap with fair distribution. There is very low supply on the exchanges, and it looks like the community is holding for the long term. Also, the masternodes keep 30% of the supply locked down indefinitely. The price appears to be going up because no one is selling.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / DarkNet (DNET) up 400% the past week. Breaks top 100 crypto by cap. Thoughts? on: November 06, 2016, 10:17:37 PM
DarkNet is up about 400% over the past week. A lot of movement recently and 25 BTC+ trade volume.

Also, just smashed through top 100 crypto by market cap. Is ranked 83, and just passed the $500K mark. Thoughts?

I think a big component of the future with crypto is anonymizing technology.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1262920.0

I picked up about 500,000 DNET at 500 SATs. I sold all my Dash a few weeks ago. The coin is basically a Dash clone with active devs working on improvement. 10k masternodes. Also (most important to me) distribution was fair (some would argue unlike Dash). Community is pretty good. They seem to be working on a new website, forum, and have got a number of pretty big development bounties. I think a coin payment processor got up and running.

Currently trading on Bittrex (not Polo).

Anyway, what do you guys think? Should I dump for $$$. There is really small amount of supply on exchanges. It looks like everyone either is running a masternode or holding for the long term. It is so tempting to just cash out ..
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DARKNET [DNET] QRK ALGO - PoW/PoS on: November 04, 2016, 06:43:37 PM
staking question:

i have 75k+ of dnet in my darknet unlocked wallet and the wallet has been up for two days, yet it still says that "staking is not active.  it is not setup as a masternode.

so how long does the wallet need to be up and running before it becomes actively staking my coins?

is there a console command that needs to be run to get the wallet to start staking?

please advise.

wallet version is:  DarkNet Core version v2.1.3.0-71d4969 (32-bit)  8 active connections.

For some reason my wallet wasn't staking. I shut down the wallet, then reopened the wallet, waiting until the sync was complete, then waited another five minutes as the wallet built up network connections, then I unlocked with 'staking and anonymization'.Then it started working.  When I unlocked before syncing was complete, I had issues.

But it appears I have started staking on my own fork, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Also, restarting the wallet will restart the process. Considering you cannot get a stake with 70k over two days, I would assume it will not generate a stake with current configuration.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DARKNET [DNET] QRK ALGO - PoW/PoS on: November 04, 2016, 06:04:05 PM
Ok; I have a staking question.

I have 525k'ish DarkNet.

I started staking 5 days ago, and have generated 19k DNET in mining rewards so far. I am on track to generate 114k DNET by the end of the month.

Is that not 250% annual returns at my current rate? It looks like my stake is also increasing (I started at 12 DNET per mint, now I am at 14 DNET per mint)?

Why am I making crazy minting return via staking?!?! I basically made $150 doing nothing .. and in 5 days.

Also I bought in at 500 SATs. Love this crypto already. I am holding for the big price pickup.

that would mean that you get 18% of all staking rewards every day with current numbers.
Reward from last Block for Miners/Stakers: 14.40 DNET atm
14.4 x 1440 = 20736 / 3800 = 5.4 = ~18% = possible yes but only if there are only a few others staking.
*shrug* who knows i run mn's

check your last block hash on masternode payments information page to be sure not staking on your own fork Tongue

edit: @q327K091 i guess you mean 120 not 1200 Wink

Numbers are accurate. I can only assume I am staking on my own fork? I am checking now.

What is the debug process to correct this?

Thanks~

Is it possible to view network staking metrics?

To expand; this is how you grow a $1MM currency. BURST is great example of community boosted currency.

https://www.burst-team.us/index.php/forum/

Look at that community forum. They even place ads to cover hosting.

68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DARKNET [DNET] QRK ALGO - PoW/PoS on: November 01, 2016, 04:06:11 PM
No website. Branding is OK. Fragmented community (no forum, invite Slack, no Reddit).

Keep up the development and it will get there. I just bought in for 500,000. Staking. Too much work to do 50 masternodes.

69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DARKNET [DNET] QRK ALGO - PoW/PoS on: October 27, 2016, 01:43:06 PM
Any updates on the website? When is the website going live? What about community forum?
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin aka DASH - The biggest ongoing SCAM in crypto on: October 26, 2016, 10:47:53 PM
I just bought into DarkNet.

It is a good community. Good development team. Very similar to DASH, but fair distribution.

Bought in over the last few weeks to DarkNet.

Currently holding 300,000 DNET at about average 550 SATs. I am thinking I may try and push my holdings to 500K.

Few questions.

1. If I wanted to get 30 - 50 masternodes up and running, what is the easiest way to do that? I think I saw something about using a paid server with unique IPs for each node?
2. What is the maintenance on those masternodes? Do I need to update all of them every time there is a wallet update?
3. What is the risk in setting up those masternodes? Any chance I lose my coins if i don't update a wallet or bug?
4. Can I stake with my wallet instead?

Keep up the great work.

I actually sold a bunch of Dash and partially cashed out of my masternode. Dash price is way too inflated and too pre-mined. When is website coming back on? Community seems pretty good.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DARKNET [DNET] QRK ALGO - PoW/PoS on: October 18, 2016, 05:40:12 PM

Man. I want to be made whole again or I am taking this to Bittrex and telling them this is a scam coin that should be delisted.
[/quote]

Why are you holding altcoins, and why are you on bitcointalk if you cannot handle an update bug that cost you $12? Darknet is an experimental crypto with pretty good development and community support. Made whole? What do you think experimental altcoins are? FDIC savings accounts?

You will probably recover your 2k, the rest went to a fee bug that processes back to the network ..
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Potcoin up 50x on: October 10, 2016, 01:21:26 PM
No discussion? 5,000 BTC trading volume.

I woke up this morning a little annoyed I sold 150,000 potcoin yesterday at 2,500 SATs. It is now 5,000 SATs. Why is the price going up? The only dev I can see is they are selling potcoin directly on their website? The community sucks ..

74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: reddcoin will update new wallet ? on: October 05, 2016, 04:42:02 PM
Will reddcoin prices will soar rapidly?  Huh

No; prices are not 'soaring rapidly' with Reddcoin. There is still a lot of sell weight. And movement right now is SAT to SAT. Reddcoin has actually been surprisingly stable as compared with a lot of other altcoins (and over the past year price has basically doubled from 3.5 SATs to 7.5 SATs.

Buy support is strong. 100+ BTC at anytime on Poloniex. Also, roadmap and wallet updates, and decentralized updates, and RDD-ID I think will either keep price stable, or slowly drive price up.

I am a big believer in Dogecoin and Reddcoin. I am buying both. I think both are way undervalued. They had fair distribution so the price is a true market price, and they are pretty low market caps considering community involvement.

You could buy in with ETH or ETC or XMR or XRP, but you are basically buying in at a $100MM+ market cap. It takes a lot more to move a $100MM+ market cap to $200MM+ to double your money than it takes for example Dogecoin to move from $25MM market cap to $100MM market cap to quadruple your money.

Look at community involvement, development roadmaps, development team, and fair-distribution before you buy any crypto ..
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Reddcoin price, updates, roadmap + Dogecoin on: September 27, 2016, 01:38:28 PM
There seems to be some movement around Reddcoin (RDD).

Wallet was recently V2 updated with code-base switch to bitcoin, new utility applications, and improved sync/larger transactions, etc. A roadmap is going to be released on friday. Also, price is moving up (there is still some heavy sell weight).

I like Reddcoin AND Dogecoin. I think both high-supply (volume) coins are perfect for some future social micro-tipping application. I think Dogecoin/Reddcoin price are both pretty low right now and they are pretty similar in application.

Thoughts?

76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Does Anyone Look At Market Caps Anymore? on: May 04, 2016, 03:28:10 PM
This is more of a subjective opinion piece, and I am not an expert on Crypto technology, or the markets, but I cannot believe some of the market caps that exist in the altcoin market as of today.  my take is 99% of the altcoin market is just over-inflated, non-fair distribution, where a few initial holders/devs are keeping the price afloat by waiting to dump onto the market at the first sign of offload opportunity.

1. Is Rubycoin worth $3MM? No.
2. Is Bytecoin worth $2.9MM? No.
3. Is Stellar worth $10MM? No.
4. Is Dash worth $44MM? Probably not.
5. Is Ripple worth $222.5MM? Definitely not.
6. Is MaidSafeCoin worth $26.4MM? NO, NO, NO.
7. The following are all over $5MM market cap: Steem, Ybcoin, Emercoin, Namecoin, Voxels, Fedoracoin, NEM ($14MM), DigixDAO ($11MM).

All of the above only factors in AVAILABLE supply. Not TOTAL supply. I am pretty sure only 33% of XRP is in the market (and most of that held in cold storage). For example is Ripple worth $650MM against total supply?

I feel like I am taking crazy pills, and I am holding a lot of the alts I listed above. I also feel like there are a lot of suckers that are buying into these hyped market caps that are going to get hit hard when the alts get slammed by a liquidity dump. My take is investors should be looking at the market cap on TOTAL supply almost above anything else to determine value:

1. Is Monero worth $10.6MM? Probably.
2. Is Dogecoin worth $23.4MM? Maybe.
3. Is Litecoin worth $170MM? Maybe.
4. Is Peercoin worth $9MM? Probably not.
5. Is Counterparty worth $2.9? Yea, maybe.
6. Is BlackCoin worth $2.2MM? Maybe not, but maybe.
The altcoins are substantiated by an existence of a brand, technology, innovation/development, and pretty fair-distribution.

I know I am going to get attacked on this, but I want to end on a question:
What is more likely; Ethereum grows from $774MM to $1.5BB or Monero grows from $10MM to $20MM? Both scenarios you double your money. I don't want to make this Ethereum Vs. Monero or something dumb like coin vs. coin, but to a small 'investor', buying into the smaller coins with good brands, technology/dev, and distribution is probably a better thing? Right?
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts On RDD (Price/Volume Surge + Viability) on: April 03, 2016, 04:55:05 PM
https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_rdd

Look at the walls: 13 BTC, 19 BTC

It was the same when the coin was on Cryptsy - outside of a pump, it barely moved because of the thickness of the walls. I had a sell order once that took three weeks to execute, because the walls were so thick.

Another high-volume day yesterday. RDD hit 21 SATs and 900 24-hour BTC trade volume. What is going on? Is this just a dedicated pump and dump scheme?
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Thoughts On RDD (Reddcoin) - Price/Volume Surge + Viability on: March 24, 2016, 02:06:31 PM
Anyone got any thoughts on RDD (Reddcoin)? Price (50%) and volume (175+ BTC) surged this morning, buy support has tripled, and daily Reddcoins transaction volume is moving (20% market cap).

Before I start I want to note I am holding 125MM RDD. RDD is one of my top-ten holding cryptocurrencies (I am holding pretty much everything top 25 market cap). I participated in the IPCO and mined RDD, before RDD innovated POS-V and transitioned. Price high (38 SATs) happened post-transition, then development slowed down. It does appear that development has picked back up and there looks to be tangible progress on a few fronts. Also I am not recommending you buy altcoins including RDD; don't buy what you can't afford to lose tomorrow.

Social Currency
Does anyone think a social currency or a social tipping currency has any viability? I like DOGE, but I think the lack/immaturity of the brand is a problem. The community is awesome, but I could not see someone sending a Dogecoin to a YouTube video creator as a 'tip'. I think 'social' needs to advance beyond 'likes', and I think once advertising and publishing and paywalls come to a head, something will happen very quickly. Advertising pays for content, and I think micropayments can replace revenue generated for content producers by microtipping by content consumers. I think there is a huge space beyond e-commerce as micro value transfer.
I think it needs to be a crypto with a lot of supply (BB not MM), so that I could buy a few hundred coins for a few bucks, and give a coin a day to my favorite publisher.
What does everyone think about this application? Do you think social, or content tipping, or publishing tipping has any viability?

Issues
I think there are a number of issues with RDD.
1. Initial issues with distribution, and some people may never be able to get over the fact there was a IPCO.
2. The initial developer left the project, and there was some infighting amongst the main developers.
3. The community is smaller (although the core-team appears to be more focussed now).
4. I am not sure about the name Reddcoin. I think people confuse it with Reddit?

Development
RDD appears to have a pretty solid development roadmap focussed around RDD-ID. Basically a decentralized web wallet that can connect to people's social accounts to support peer-to-peer username tipping. I think there is solid value to this, and a big innovation. The developers appear to still be discussing fee structures, and testing, but it looks almost ready?

Thoughts? I could offload all my RDD today and make a solid return. Any long term value here?

Reddcoin (RDD). Stable at around 7 SATs. Good daily volume. Constant buy support.
