Tell you what: If you post a whole iso dump of your sdcard I will take a look at it on my Rpi here and see if the logs make any sort of sense or if the programs can be kicked to do more loggging.

PM me a dropbox link or something with the file, I have a lot of Titans to work on but can put a look see in the work queue.

Thanks for your interest here.
Ok so whats the deal.. You need a image uploaded or not? I am not uploading if someone else has already..Jezz

I can upload a batch one img file if you would like to look at it.. I will need some time to get it uploaded.. But we should have these images available for anyone to look at or download if needed.. Thanks

I really hope this is just some sort of software issue and not a design flaw with the hardware.
I read that the max operating temp is 40c. I have not seen any run under 40c yet
I am having better luck on litecoinpool using lower voltage settings like 804-805. If I go higher then 810 I get massive stale share which drops hashrate

Has anyone asked in the Minera thread if they will be adding support for the Dominator A4?

Thanks for the heads up on Minera.  I just popped into that thread and asked the question.   Grin
Minera is a great program. I will pop over and ask also.. The more they see ask the better. I asked them if they would add the A2 a long while ago but no response..
UPDATE I just sent them a message.. I invited them to join this thread hopefully we will hear from them. I think this is a very good idea. Please everyone go and put in a request we will see if they can help.

Hello I'm the Minera's author. Can I know what's the problem with A4?
Then, what kind of miner software does it use?
If it can work with Cgminer or similar there isn't much problem, but if it has its own ultra-forked-wtf-you-did-miner I'm sorry I can't help much.
Hello and thanks for stopping by. I am sure others will chime in here with detailed problems. But what is happening is the miner is unstable it will start off mining at spec then it will slowly loose hashrate and in most cases crash and need a re-boot. It does not handle coin switching pools at all. That will cause a crash for sure. On litecoinpool.org it will mine but not near the hashrate it is advertised at. The company that built it has sent a update firmware but it is nothing but a monitering process that when it sees hashrate drop does a auto re-boot.
The miner uses cgminer 3.9.0
It is advertised to mine at 280Mhs and about the best we can get is 245-250mhs. And it will not mine on prohash.com where they coinswitch that seems to crash the miner all together. I am sure others will chime in that have done much more testing then I have but this is the jist of the problem.

The other thing is I do not know what type of control board this uses. It is a SD card the program runs on but the box that SD cards goes into is not a standard rasberry pi. It has 6 ribbon cable inputs that com from miner. Each miner has 2 hashing cards with 2 ribbon cables for output that need to plug into the control board that houses SD card. The idea is you can plug 3 miners into one control board.

Well I don't know what transpired, but I just looked over at the A4 screen and 3 boards were offline/missing.  So I don't know if they just stopped hashing, or if the miner detected a board going offline and restarted the miner and 3 cards just didn't come up.  I don't know.  I was busy with some other things.  So I just stopped the miner, restarted it, and 2 more came back online, stopped and restarted again and all 4 boards are back online.

So clearly 1.0.2 does not fix anything.  I will leave it on litecoinpool until we an get something that is more stable.  No way this thing is going to stay alive for very long on a multipool.   So at this point all I can do is try to keep an eye on this thing and try to keep it running.  Not a good situation at all.  It is not ready for large scale mining farm deployment unless you have someone watching these things all the time.

Anyone thinking about getting the A4's should hold off until we see if we can get these issues sorted out.  Unless of course you can babysit the A4's full time.

UPDATE: After starting the miner and getting all the boards online one of them died again and miner has restarted again on it's own.  This time bringing all 4 boards online and hashing normally at this point.  I have noticed a pattern when starting the miner that it appears to do this often.  So watch your miners closely when you first start or restart them.  It will take about 15-20 minutes for the failing card to catch the attention of the software and cause a reboot.

UPDATE2: Yet another restart on the miner.
What voltage are you running. And what is your stale shares percent

So how are the A4's going? If someone wants to send me one to test/troubleshoot/take apart let me know.

C

Well the A4's need some firmware help for sure.  They are going to open source the software so we may be able to get our code experts to take a look at this.l  I know there were some folks who did A2 firmware, and I don't know if GenTarkin would want to play with this or not.  The tough part is getting one in the hands of the guys who can massage this and make it work better.
If we could find someone that knows what there doing and we can trust. Maybe we could start a fund pool to buy them one unit in exchange they fix it and the miner could be there payment.. Just a idea
If they're having code problems they should just drop ship a single unit to Tarkin or something. The $600 or whatever cost is miniscule to the value of having more eyes on the problems.

I agree

Is this firmware update just a new image that goes on the SD card?

I also confirmed tonight that the control unit will not handle 3 units.. At least for me it would not.. What happened was one cube only hashed at 2mhs. Took it back off and put it on its own controller now back to way it was Ughhh.. Ok I think I am done trying stuff I hope they get a fix out soon
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: A4 Dominator - Pre-Order Group Buy - 280mh, roughly 1000w, $1800 + shipping on: November 05, 2016, 06:03:34 AM
This does seem like a firmware issue. I also for the first time noticed when hooking up the single cube to the dual control box with single software I got the flashing red lights until it started to mine then they turned solid red..
All other times I have turned on its only been a solid red light on rear even though it was not hashing
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: A4 Dominator - Pre-Order Group Buy - 280mh, roughly 1000w, $1800 + shipping on: November 05, 2016, 04:54:02 AM
that would make sense since rpi could be the culprit too... please try and let us know.. also what are your power+speed settings?

I have 3 units. I have all 3 on litecoinpool. I have the single on its own controller and it is much better then the 2 on one controller. The single I am getting 135Mhs but on the 2 unit I am only getting 245Mhs. I might try swapping around my miners and see if having 2 on one controller makes any difference.. It just seems strange that my single unit hashes much better the the dual. They are both plugged into the same network 5 port bridge out in my garage
Something new I can add.. I have a 2 cube set and a single cube both with there own controllers. Ordered at different times.. The dual was ordered first then the single with its own controller. Tonight I tried changing out one of my dual cubes and hooked it up on the single cubes controller by itself. It would not start mining at all. I got the cgminer screen up but no numbers no hashing...As soon as I pulled the SD card from the dual controller and inserted it in the single miner controller it started mining. So this would suggest that my dual software is tied to that machine.

Update: I took the single controllers SD card and put it in the Dual Cube Control Box and only hooked up one dual cube and it would not mine.
So this tells me that somehow the software is indeed tied to the miners there shipped with? Very confusing

Update: Took single cube and hooked to duals control box with the single cube software and that works! How is this possible?

I mean, I still would love to buy one of these, but i dont like wire transfers. I would happily buy one if they took paypal. I cant imagine how many customers got turned away because of them only taking wire transfer. The main thing that is there is no security as a buyer. how do i know that the miner wont die on the 46th day after i receive it! If someone here knows a way i can wire transfer with credit card/debit card (No, im not going to pay someone random or spend $2400-$2600 to buy one unit on a reseller site) please tell me.
You can purchase one with a credit card through aliexpress. But they are re-sellers so they are only responsible for getting the machine to you. If you have problems I am sure they will prob just refer you to innosilicon

My A4 has been stable now for 19+hrs without any more card drops.  However my hash rate has continued to fall and is averaging between 240-250mh on Litecoinpool.  It seems to have settling in at that hash rate which really isn't too impressive.  When you first start the miner it takes off like a shot and you see really good rates fly up to 280-290mh, then it declines from there for me.

I hope the firmware updates can help address the dropping cards and the declining hash rates.  It if continues to stick at this level of hash then we may need to talk to Inno about their plus or minus hashing guarantee.  I see reports some others are having the slowly declining hash rate also so I don't think this is isolated to just me.
I am on litecoinpool also and mine does the exact same thing except it does not always shoot up on start. Sometimes it will start on 240mhs and then over a few hours it will climb to about 250mhs.

What pool are you mining in? I know Prohashing has major problems with cards dropping off.. I had to swicth to litcoinpool.org and have had no problems yet.. My settings are 1200Mhz and 800mv. I believe these are the stock setting.

on prohash I use password with quotes as follows:

Code:
"A=Minername h=40 d=16384"

So far I've been hashing about 24 hours without issues, ~12 hours at 1200mhz @ 815mv
  • Note: Everytime I restart the miner I have to put the quotes on beginning and end of the password or it truncates the string to be just A=Minername

I'm hoping someone out there updates this software as well... its awful when compared to what's available for the A2.

Regarding power usage, the lowest I've tried is 800mv and I'm fine with that up to around 1000mhz, beyond that I'm concerned that running it at 1200mhz is undervolting it too much. Mine came factory configured at 815mv and 900mhz.

I tried the very setting you have here and the miner crashed after 45 minutes. One card went dead that was scary. It would not come back until I did a power down of the miner.. Only diff was I was set on 800mv not 815

My gut says 800mv isn't enough above 1000mhz -- its not worth toasting a miner to save a few Watts

I'm near 24 hours solid now without an issue
What is your hasrate? I would think raising the volts would be more risky.. More power more heat right? I am currently on litecoinpool at 800mv for 24 hours solid with 389 Mhs running 800mv on 3 units or cubes thats 130Mhs each avg... In the little instruction manual that you cant read that comes with the miner says 800Mv you just need really good eyes to see it and a magnifing glass!!

I ran both 800 and 815, both at 1200Mhz. I didn't see any difference.
The difference probably comes in when you switch the MHz. I have not yet heard any list of acceptable pairings for the mV and MHz. Im interested in trying the Low Power mode, since I have time-of-use plan and for 3 hours during the weekday I pay 3x the normal price.

I see that the pi has 6 cable sockets. Has anyone tried running 6 blades on a single pi yet?
About the only thing I noticed when raising higher then 800mv is more power draw from the wall. I believe 800mv I was pulling 1070watts and 810mv I was pulling 1090 watts from the wall
