I can't believe that we can't find a motivated C dev with networking experience to work on this project. How is that possible with so much talent in these forums? Did anyone put any formal ad for this somewhere?

There are motivated, experienced C developers around. The issue is how do you convince them to give some of their valuable time to Elastic? Allow them to have a stake in XEL and they will have a big incentive.

For that we need to be tradable, thus we need the lite wallet soon.

Or, wait for main net launch, then new dev talent can buy a stake.

For when you hit rock bottom, these steps are powerful, not just for alcoholics.

Quote
The heart of the suggested program of personal recovery is contained in Twelve Steps describing the experience of the earliest members of the Society:

  • 1.  We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.
  • 2.  Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
  • 3.  Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
  • 4.  Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
  • 5.  Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
  • 6.  Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
  • 7.  Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
  • 8.  Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
  • 9.  Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
  • 10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
  • 11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
  • 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

It's all performance ART!

HRH Prince Zechariah arrives to CryptoTown from his travels. Alone, in northern-style clothing, and in a full beard, he escapes the notice of each and every one, and in fact sneaks in to his house (The Royal Palace of Malla in 1 Central Square, OT) using the restaurant door in the basement.

65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoKingdom Markets on: May 07, 2017, 08:08:09 AM
One big cloud over M is that  rpietila  (ZECHARIAH) holds over 900,000,000,000 M out of 4,000,000,000,000 total. If a significant portion of the debt is settled in terms of M and the creditors dump M well do the math. This is why the outstanding B1 and E1 debt is a very significant cloud over M even after rpietila's administrative privileges in the game were revoked. The aftermath of this attempted manipulation / pump of M is far from over.

This may have been Risto's plan all along, no retreat possible!

...

The burn the boats strategy works only if the boats in question are the only means of retreat for the soldiers, officers etc. It failed in this situation because the boats in question were not the only form of retreat for the soldiers officers etc, which in this situation in many cases ended up with a significant victory with limited risk / cost to themselves. The question that does remain here is: Were the boats in question the only form of retreat for the commander?

In this case a very significant portion of the soldiers, officers etc., did not buy at all into the battle plan and believed that victory could be achieved using a longer term strategy with much lower overall risk, and furthermore had previously achieved major victories using a similar low risk long term strategy in other battles.

Edit: Sun Tzu's The Art of War teaches a lot more about war and strategy than burning boats.

Yes, I'm talking from here on, AFTER the remaining b1 & m3 depos have been almost depleted, and the limbo b1 likely defaulted on, those who didn't exit during the artificial peg period are stuck now, so they 'fight' and make CK a success so their M and in-game assets go up in value, or CK dies, and their losses are realised.

Those who exited successfully (actually withdrew) do not have the same motivation to make CK a success now as those stuck inside CK.

From Ristos point of view this might be what he wanted to achieve, some motivated stake-holders.

Burn The Boats

It was the year 1519 and Hernán Cortés, with some 600 Spaniards, 16 or so horses and 11 boats, had landed on a vast inland plateau called, Mexico.

The Spanish conquistador and his men were about to embark on a conquest of an empire that hoarded some of the world’s greatest treasure.  Gold, silver and precious Aztec jewels were just some of what this treasure had to offer anyone who succeeded in their quest to obtain it.

But, with only 600 men — none of whom had encumbered themselves with protective armour – conquering an empire so extensive in its territories could only be undertaken by a man with a death wish.

This daring undertaking was made even more insurmountable by the fact that for more than 600 years, conquerors with far more resources at their disposal who attempted to colonize the Yucatan Peninsula, never succeeded.  Hernán Cortés was well-aware of this fact.  And it was for this reason, that he took a different approach when he landed on the land of the Mayans.
Instead of charging through cities and forcing his men into immediate battle, Hernán Cortés stayed on the beach and awoke the souls of his men with melodious cadences – in the form of emblazoned speeches.

His speeches were ingeniously designed to urge on the spirit of adventure and invoke the thirst of lifetimes of fortune amongst his troops.  His orations bore fruit, for what was supposedly a military exploit, now bore the appearance of extravagant romance in the imaginations of Cortés’ troops.

But, ironically, it would only just be 3 words which Cortés’ murmured, that would change the history of the New World.  As they marched inland to face their enemies, Cortés ordered, “Burn the boats.”

It was a decision that should have backfired.  For if Cortés and his men were on the brink of defeat, there wasn’t an exit strategy in place to save their lives.  Remarkably though, the command to burn the boats had an opposite effect on his men because now, they were left with only 2 choices — die, or ensure victory.  And fight they did.

We know today, how Cortés’ decision to burn his boats panned out.  Hernán Cortés became the first man in 600 years to successfully conquer Mexico.

Though historians still dispute the veracity of Hernán Cortés burning his boats, it’s doubtless that Cortés did destroy his boats.  But, he wasn’t the first man to make such a bold, strategic decision to ensure victory.

About a thousand years before, the world’s greatest empire builder, Alexander the Great burned his boats upon arrival on the shores of Persia.  By burning his boats, Alexander committed his men to victory over the Persians, who far outnumbered the Greeks in great numbers.  Furthermore, Persia then also had the distinction of having the most powerful naval fleet in the world.  Considering what Alexander was facing, the decision to destroy the Greeks’ only hope of retreat was an extraordinary one.  Nonetheless, it proved to be the correct one.

Our history books also boast of other fearsome Greek commanders who executed the same strategy to guarantee victory.  Taric el Tuerto, otherwise known as Tariq ibn Ziyad, the general who conquered Hispania in 711, burned his boats when fighting the Spaniards, as he too had a valid reason to do so — his army was outnumbered 5:1.

Was this act of burning the boats a mock dramatization of bravery, or a cleverly constructed strategy?  In Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, it brings to light the logic behind the decisions of history’s greatest conquerors to burn their boats at the risk of being killed in enemy hands.  It was simply to eradicate any notion of retreat from the minds of their troops and commit themselves unwaveringly to the cause – Victory.  Defeat wasn’t an option at all.

DEPOSITORY ANNOUNCEMENT

I've been in talks with moneromooo and I have came out with the following depository plan after some discussions and modifications:

1. For every 0.0001btc deposited I will create 1 BO and give to the person who deposited(BO=0.0001btc)

  • Minimum deposit: 10 BO(0.001btc)
  • Minimum withdrawal: 10 BO(0.001btc)
  • BO value is fixed for both deposits and withdrawals
  • Withdrawal fee: 1%(eg.: if you withdraw 10 BO,you will receive 0.0099btc)
  • Maximum 2 withdrawals/day per char(to prevent abuse)
  • After withdraw BO will be burned.
  • Withdrawal delay: maximum 2 days

2. 75% of the deposited funds will be used in btc hedge/arbitrage trading and forex scalping EA trading. 25% will be kept as liquidity for withdrawals in a CK reserve BTC account.
3. 50% of the trading profits will go into CK reserve BTC account for more reserve and liquidity.(the rest will go to trader)
4. If the reserve CK btc account contains more than 100% of the deposits, depository administrator will talk with the game admins and find a way to use the surplus funds over 100% of the deposits for the sake of the game.(ex: total active deposits: 10 BTC; funds in trading: 7.5 BTC;funds in reserve account: 12btc: 2 BTC will be used for game development, rewards to citizens,etc..)

I'm awaiting approval from the other game admins. I'm open to questions and/or requirements you might have!
Thank you!

Is the depository genie out of the bottle now .... @ChrisPop, who's approval do you need to setup your depo?

Announcement 2:
I also want to announce my intention to setup an independent depository, "Gringotts".

This is good news. What crypto will this depo work with?

Thank you! I would hope the depo would offer bitcoin & XMR, but operational decisions for Gringotts will be made by the manager.

I've approached my preferred candidate to run Gringotts (no prize for guessing who), and will wait for their response.

Whoever runs Gringotts will make all operational decisions.

Awesome news, good luck!!

Independent and competing depositories could be a game changer for CK.

Quote
The token world is getting crazy, but last week’s Gnosis ICO pushed us over the edge. Gnosis investors bought up approximately 4.2% of the total GNO token supply for $12.5 million (250,000 ETH), giving the project a market capitalization of $298 million (as of April 24).
To be clear: this means ICO investors valued Gnosis — an unproven platform that is yet to be launched — at about $300 million. Moreover, the GNO token does not have any actual purpose except to exchange for WIZ tokens at some point in the future.
We at Sia feel that this ICO insanity cannot continue in its current form — something must give. If the bubble bursts, it will inflict damage on every token, including those that are most reputable.
Many in the community want to slow and eventually stop this trend. We think that, while investors are by no means rational, they need access to the best possible information in order to make informed decisions. However, it is clear that investors are completely misvaluing most tokens. So what gives?
Our hypothesis: the market cap indicator is highly flawed.
Market cap is so powerful because it allows investors to quickly assess total valuation of an asset. A flawed market cap calculation means that investors are not able to properly value a token without doing extensive research.
There are two major inputs to market cap: total supply, which is required to properly calculate present market cap, and inflation, which can be used to predict future total supply and therefore future market cap.

Good points, I always calculate marketcap using total outstanding coins when I assess the current price of a coin.

The greater problem with marketcap though, is market manipulation of price and volume, but there's nothing anyone can do about that. So many top 40 coins today are really house of cards, and the best advice to noobies is read, study, learn as much as you can, don't believe the market, do the hard work and investigate coins yourself.

I believe CK still enjoys a large amount of goodwill from many senior figures in monero & crypto generally. If YGM should take a moment to reflect on this goodwill, I'm sure it will help you find a way through the current situation. People like smooth & generalizethis want to help CK reach its potential, as do many others. Now might be the time to focus on long term structural issues, changes that make the foundations of CK stronger. I believe it is in your long term interests to listen to advice and opinions from the community on how to proceed calmly, pause for reflection, and let the situation resolve itself naturally using common sense. Many people care for the future of CK, and for you, so listen to people discuss these structural issues with an open mind, and take a break to clear your mind.

The removal of admin privileges from "rpietila.TheVoice" in the last 24 hours could be the turning point for Crypto Kingdom's future success, I predict things will improve rapidly from here, and 'M' and other in-game assets are now undervalued.

Originally rpietila was:
1- Game Designer
2- Game Master
3- King of Crypto Kingdom
4- Largest stakeholder, CK 'Whale'
5- Control of major town/game accounts like, Coinshop etc

This worked during the bootstrapping startup phase, but having so many functions performed by one individual is obviously not the ideal setup, and not sustainable. Events of recent weeks & days have shaken things up considerably, and the overall effect may have removed the single point of failure issue that has hamstrung CK since 2014.

What we now have after admin privileges and Game Master responsibilities have been removed from "rpietila.TheVoice", (and maybe control of some non-personal Town accounts), looks much more healthy and sustainable going forward, and much less stress and pressure for rpietila as he sorts out his personal situation and future.

Current situation:
1- Game Designer - rpietila (hopefully)
2- Game Master - ?? (moneromooo currently)
3- King of Crypto Kingdom - hmc_
4- Largest stakeholder, CK 'Whale' - ownership of game resources post b1 resolution will *probably* reduce rpietila's % stake in CK to more healthy levels
5- Control of major town accounts - ?? (hopefully shared among trusted long-term players)

Nothing has changed with PJ as CK dev, and once the dust settles maybe saddam could be convinced to resume deposit admin again, and/or another trusted person is found to take-over or assist.

Overall, assuming the community consensus agrees with the direction and vibe of the recent changes, I think the future for Crypto Kingdom is much brighter than it may appear to casual observers. If the b1 depo withdrawal issue can be resolved amicably, then we might be able to harness the current increased interest and attention from the community, and use it to build a much more sustainable and decentralised administrative setup for the Game.

Risto does have a gift for the economic game mechanics design and storytelling, and if that becomes his future focus, then in time I can see the community looking back on the recent events of the last few weeks as a win::win for everyone concerned. One single person could not carry the load forever, especially not when dealing with significant problems in other areas of life.

Events of the last few days (and last few weeks generally) have been very thought provoking, and the recent addition to CK of the "FUCK" market made me think of a recent interview with Iggy Pop I saw. In it, the great man reflected on a pivotal influence in his youth when he saw The Doors play. While the other three Doors were musically tight and professional, Jim Morrison was completely off his tits on acid, barely able to stand, unable to sing properly, and disturbingly confrontational and antagonistic towards the audience. Morrison was basically a poet, and didn't care about the music that much, so he really didn't give a FUCK about being a performer.

Iggy realised watching Jim Morrison that while on stage, a performer can basically do anything they want, they can not give a FUCK and still hold an audiences attention if they're still 'good', and Iggy took this idea and extended it many times further than Jim Morrison ever did, including slashing himself, dressing in drag, exposing himself, onstage blow jobs, he invented stage-diving etc etc Iggy basically invented the wild outrageous front man toolkit by about 1969.

In the interview, Iggy tells of how he could hear the intensity of the other Stooges playing become more authentic and genuine the more he did certain stage antics, particularly squatting down and imitating the movements of an excited chimpanzee. When Iggy went into full not give a FUCK mode the other Stooges stopped imitating their influences, and genuinely found their own unique creativity, which became hugely influential for literally thousands of bands for decades since, even bands who get the influence 2nd or 3rd or 4th hand.

The tree of influence from The Stooges, and particularly Iggy, is huge, and a lot of the initial inspiration came from a disturbed and confrontational Jim Morrison, tormenting his audience while tripping on acid in about 1967.

I think some of the recent GM antics have been similarly confrontational and disturbing, but also quite entertaining and possibly successful, and that's the roll of the 'front man', to get people paying attention, to be captivating, to stand out, be memorable. The disturbing blend of the personal & public information, the sex and fucking, all blended up in a mysterious confusion of fact/fiction/fantasy will get attention, and might be good for growing interest in CK, and maybe player numbers. But there are problems with this approach too.

Jim Morrison could only get away with being off his tits and 'disturbing' because the three musicians in the band were always spot on, tight and reliable. Without that foundation, Jim Morrison would have been totally exposed on stage, he could only survive and hold the audience because the music was good quality, and professional, and I think this is what CK needs. The GM can roam into strange behaviour and 'disturbing' roll-playing territory only to the extent that it doesn't undermine the Game itself and make some elements unplayable. What ultimately destroyed The Stooges was that unlike The Doors, all of The Stooges were major drug users, not just Iggy, and that lack of professionalism effected their ability to tour and play gigs. What stopped The Doors career was Jim Morrison dying at 27, and there's a lesson in that also maybe.

For CK, the Game platform needs to be 100% reliable, and the rules need to be crystal clear and unambiguous, and maybe there needs to be a second GM to assist in cases where Zechariah goes full galactic, just so the 'platform' stays rock solid and reliable even when Zechariah goes-off, confident that everything underneath will still work around him. There's some really 'creative' and interesting things going on around CK now, but the 'disturbing' and dangerous elements need a firm foundation, otherwise the whole enterprise can spiral into chaos quickly.

The server downtime and possible DB corruption caused some panic. Combine this with the mystery of Zechariah giving away his CK funds, and we had a perfect storm of confidence against CK.

b1 and m3 markets went through the roof as people rushed for the depo share exits, and many withdrawals were made.

Now that the DB corruption 'panic' is over, and a restructure seems to be happening behind the scenes (hopefully), I suggest temporarily turning off the coinshop market maker to let natural price discovery return for b1 & m3.

At the moment coinshop has very little b1 to sell anyway, and coinshop has removed all its sell orders for m3, but still has buy orders for m3 at the panic prices.

Better to remove all coinshop orders for m3, but failing that, the m3 exit via coinshop sell orders should be restored.

It doesn't look good if coinshop appears to be blocking the m3 exit after some made it out, while artificially keeping the m3 price high (M low) with panic level buy price orders for m3.

Those who bought depo shares at the top of the panic made a choice, and if confidence in CK game returns, some might choose to buy back into M, but coinshop should not be keeping the entry door open at an artificial m3 price, if it has closed the m3 exit.

Those who exited at panic prices would most likely take a haircut if they returned to M, and coinshop is preventing that.

Current CK marketcap is ~5M USD , which looks low compared to the fundamentals of CK.
