Can I join sig campaign as a junior member?

The rule is that only member and up are currently allowed to join.

Just a heads-up, the twitter account does not exist.

https://twitter.com/mass_network
The links on all websites and the signature lead to https://twitter.com/network_mass , not https://twitter.com/mass_network

thank you

# is it possible to have a slack channel ?
# any update regarding the Escrow ?
# why do u think people will trust your code with no big/real names involved in the project ? like Chrome etc...can ur team members post some videos?

You will see ads, but they will be for interesting products and services because you told it what you are into. Mass can not only show you relevant ads but it can also help you acquire said goods with a steady trickle of cash!
what type of ads will the users view ? banner , pup-under ?

Thanks.

Q: is it possible to have a slack channel ?
A: will do

Q: any update regarding the Escrow ?
A: announcing today, when morning comes to SanFrancisco

Q: why do u think people will trust your code with no big/real names involved in the project ? like Chrome etc...can ur team members post some videos?
A: we're preparing videos and trying to attract big names; nothing to boast about this week, though.

Q: what type of ads will the users view ? banner , pup-under ?
A: since we're targeting the RTB part of the industry, it mostly banners.

Q: do something ? what do u want to do with the mass weapon ?
A: We receive quite a few questions like "what do you have to do with crypto community?", "is it moral what you do?", etc. So we answer that the best thing one can do—being a libertarian and disliking "big corporations" —is to support Bitcoin. Not hacking government email. Not replacing Google's ads with your own using an adblocking software. Supporting Bitcoin in any way possible makes progress faster. Bitcoin is the only capable weapon for all good against all bad.

How much is a stake ?

The price of the certain stake (i.e. how many bitcoins is 1% of Mass) will be determined after the completion of the ICO period, on December 2nd, 2016.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Mass Network on: September 12, 2016, 10:43:47 AM
Interesting... Though I like the project and how it is being implemented, but I happen to dislike the main idea behind that... Undecided

In fact, can we say that MASS network idea is to allow people to sell themselves for the money..? Currently, the big corporations basically are stealing the private information from unaware people. With MASS, people have a chance to sell their information to the big brother. So basically they have a chance to voluntarily sell themselves for the money... It means giving people a freedom of choice, but it also means creating temptation, which could be not that easy to resist for a average folks who love money and do not really understand what they are doing.

@massnetwork: have you ever thought about the moral aspects? Maybe its just me, but I am a bit unsure of where all this tech is heading us...

Thanks for bringing up this topic. We at Mass think more choice is better than less. If you do not want to "sell yourself" then continue using your current method (but know that others are profiting from your data crumbs and attention). The monetization aspect of Mass is but one part. It also improves the web-browsing experience. You will see ads, but they will be for interesting products and services because you told it what you are into. Mass can not only show you relevant ads but it can also help you acquire said goods with a steady trickle of cash!

But more importantly, we prefer to support practical ways of withstanding the pressure of the current establishment. We recently witnessed that heroism isn’t quite productive. People like Assange or Snowden end up locked. Only a mass weapon—like Bitcoin—can do something. But instead of supporting Bitcoin, lots of libertarian-minded people waste their energy supporting altcoins. That obviously slows Bitcoin’s development.

Similar situation with advertising giants who “steal” our data. We prefer to cooperate with them and offer them additional options that would allow them to switch from stealing to buying. Other approaches—like Brave’s—are paved on top of the strong conflict. We doubt that Brave has any real power to stand against the industry. It is hard to explain what makes people enter a battle they are doomed to lose considering the current balance of power.

I like the idea and hope you'll succeed, but from an investors PoV this is one of the most boring sales this year, in my opinion.

Do not confuse Mass with a company doing a digital IPO. Mass Coin does not represent equity nor is it a cryptographic share. Mass Coin holders are not entitled to dividends in any form or revenue sharing or transaction fees within the network.

those coins offer literally nothing of interest.

So what do we get for buying these Maaaascoins ?

The one-time issuance principle guarantees the growth of value as long as the ecosystem doesn’t stagnate. Unlike the most of  the “app coins”, Mass Coin has an application in its core that is in high demand.

Seeing 1 Trillion coins....gave me a massive headache.  Grin

It only has been done to reduce the divisibility need. Think of it as 1 trillion satoshis, doesn't look that large that way.

So is this a counterparty token then?  What secures your token?

Also, what software or service do you propose to use with this token?  Screenshots and demos would be preferred.

Answered the first question above, but not sure if I understand the second one. Do you mean wallet? There are Colu enabled wallets, there will be more, for instance, Mycelium is going to support Colu soon.
The software for the ad application themselves? There'll be several modules. Consumer part is
1) Mass browser/extension;
2) Payment system emulator (instant off-chain payments; private keys and signature; to be replaced with LN);
3. User data processing service;
4. Encrypted data storage;
5. User verification center.

Concerning the modules for businesses they also include payment parts; the whole thing breaks down to several sub-modules. Mass aims to avoid conflicts with the existing advertising infrastructure. Real-time bidding industry (RTB)  infrastructure already constitutes a huge portion of the digital advertising sector, and it is growing. Mass would like to improve this system by adding transparency as well as a way for web users to participate in an unobtrusive, profitable way.

RTB is essentially a continuous stream of instantaneous auctions that determine which ads are shown to which users on a website. Every time you load a site, supply-side places ‘asks’ for available ads and demand-side places bids for single user ad-impressions. Mass affects the packaging of data of some consumers and offers easy-to-use tools for all RTB participants who would like to upgrade to include Mass Network consumers into their revenues.

Data is the single most important element supporting the RTB value chain. Data variables include, but are not limited to, purchase intentions, household demographics, and behavioral patterns. Mass enriches the data with an entirely new dimension of user-survey based parameters.

When a Mass-enabled user visits a website, the web server delivers some code (Signed Tags) to RTB-and-Mass-enabled market participants—SSP or DMP. SSPs (supply-side platforms) allow publishers to select demand partners (i.e., who gets access to inventory such as ad network or ad exchange). Of course, SSPs manage supply selection, i.e. availability, and pricing.

SSPs were historically set to managing many types of ad inventory levels, so adding Mass specifics is nothing revolutionary for these organizations. Take one of the largest SSP in the USA for example. PubMatic’s’ Ad Price Prediction service accepts bids even from non-RTB enabled demand sources such as ad exchanges, ad networks, and direct-to-agency orders. Any bid wins only if it has the highest effective demand-side price.

The "effective price" parameter normalizes the Mass-price-scale to an ordinary one. It is the way for two price standards to сo-exist. One price is a usual one that depends on user/publisher qualities and the other price takes into consideration that part of the payment has to be forwarded to the consumer. In fact, by the time the data packet starts to travel, the Blockchain payment is not confirmed but a side-chain secondary level payment (such as “Lighting Network”) is already implemented.

By normalizing this double computation, Mass data will represent quite an upscale audience, in general. That is especially remarkable because within the RTB framework supply-side platforms have been developing primarily as algorithm-driven systems used by online ad sellers to monetize unsold ad inventory. Sellers used to employ SSPs mostly to increase the value of indirect ad inventory through yield optimization techniques.

Now, Mass-enabled SSPs provide sellers with opportunities not only to pinpoint and bundle specific segments of audiences but sell individual ad impressions at premium rates to premium consumers. Typically that can be achieved only by direct ad sales (in-house ad sales division working with ad agency).

Data management platforms (DMPs) mine online user metrics via cookie IDs or pixel tags obtained from a user’s web browser. DMPs are normally expected to adhere to self-regulatory practices established for online data collection and supply consumer privacy controls in order to maintain trust with agencies and consumers alike. All of the major DMPs offer opt-out tools for users. In contrast, Mass-user-data is always protected and can only be released via micropayment (in some case, with a certified promise of the payment). Instead of a primitive opt-out switch, Mass offers its users a complete UI to control the data flow. Thus, consumers may move themselves up in the user-level stats indicated by the Mass SSP tool. SSP operators will clearly see the accumulated effect of Mass-enabled consumers in terms of revenue acquired by an SSP.

What is "Blue Paper", and why it is so similar to White Paper?
EDIT: While I was writing this Blue Paper became different from while paper Smiley. Nice to see things progressing daily!

Website suggestion: the Dashboard page shows the number of BTC invested as "Your balance". I suppose if I invest more later, the amount will be added to the one shown, regardless of when the investment was made. This is not really informative, as the discount is not accounted in any way. Something could be improved there, so it shows more useful info. I can make some suggestions, but I think it better to leave it to your web developer to decide, as I know folks like to do things their own way Smiley

Also the transaction history could explicitly show the date (I know I can look into BTC block explorer to find that, but anyway), and the discount applied (for example like "x 1.45" shown near the amount of investment).

Makes sense. Noted.

Colu.com token which is similar to a Counterparty or Omni token.

OP any thoughts ?

u actually contributed nothing to the question. Stop motherfucking around if u don't have answers. Please Please ignore.
Thanks.
I don't want to pollute this thread, so will keep this short. I never answer stupid questions. And yes, I will be happy to ignore your further posts. Take care.
Guys, keep calm. Why are you so nervous?
maybe cat pissed in his serials again.

Few things:
(1) ADZ is yet another "big corporations is evil" plot. Maybe so. But that doesn't work. Even for bitcoin currency yet. Mass is an opportunist, in a political sense. We help big corps.
(2) ADZ plans to REPLACE ads, i.e. put something to where something was replaced. That's stealing. It's not gonna work. Neither for Brave, not for anyone else. Big corps still have guts to put the violators to jail. Mass offers solution to the rightful owners of blocked impressions.
(3) ADZ is a blockchain clone. That's a waste of energy. No blockchain but Bitcoin has proven to be viable. There's NONE! ADZ will join the same dead pool, statistically. Mass doesn't mess with that. Mass uses Bitcoin.

@massnetwork:
wanted to ask you a question. As you have investigated the ads market, you should definitely know this: what is the average amount (in bitcoins/satoshies) currently paid for a single ad of average size shown on a page (per view)? What is the range..? I don't talk about exact numbers of course, just very rough numbers to get an idea.

This question may seem unrelated, but I think it is not. I just want to understand the money supply amount you chose, given that you say the single Mass token will not be dividable, and Mass coins will exist only in integer numbers.

It's on the edge, you're right. But if you look at the comment right next to yours, you'd see why not more than 10^12. LN implementation for colored coins is still unclear. Colu's on top of this; we'll follow their lead in this aspect. The essentials for the issuance won't change, though.

Do you have sample/ test software on Github?  Why?
Why haven't you created video with real people form you team yet? I mean like Google hangout.
What is the minimum funding goal to create browser extension? Mass browser release?
What will you do if you only rise 100 BTC or 300 BTC or 500BTC?
Will you return funds if no minimal threshold reached? Or you are going to work for "free", or just abandon this project…?
How much are you going to pay to programmers, for marketing, lawyers, etc?
Could you give more details on how you are going to create and maintain a new web browser? Will it be a modified copy from Brave browser?

I think you guys have underestimated the marketing side of running an ICO.  Good ideas is not enough. Somebody (real face) have to attend multiple crypto conferences before an ICO starts. Somebody have to create multiple videos with real faces explaining all ideas, answering questions - especially  if you want to rise over 1000 BTC, especially if you want to reach critical mass of users. Without good marketing strategy it is almost impossible.

Make no mistake – I like your idea and this project, but multiple questions like these above is spinning in my head.

p.s.
I am from Lithuania - not so far from Latvia Wink

Q: Do you have sample/ test software on Github?  Why?
A: Soon we will.

Q: Why haven't you created video with real people form you team yet? I mean like Google hangout.
A: We should and we will; didn't occur to us.

Q: What is the minimum funding goal to create browser extension? Mass browser release?
A: It's a two parameter thing: zero if we have infinite time and infinite amount if we have zero time. The current roadmap corresponds with the resources that we already possess.

Q: What will you do if you only rise 100 BTC or 300 BTC or 500BTC?
A: Same thing as now. A Smaller amount will consume more time.

Q: Will you return funds if no minimal threshold reached? Or you are going to work for "free", or just abandon this project…?
A: We'll do it anyway. Those few people who bought Mass coins will be luckier, that's all.

Q: How much are you going to pay to programmers, for marketing, lawyers, etc?
A: Look. Since we're not selling bonds or shares of a company (we're selling the currency that is the only one to use in Mass system) we decided that we don't have to share our accounting. Now we see that many people don't get the idea and we need to make the accounting transparent. Working on this.

Q: Could you give more details on how you are going to create and maintain a new web browser? Will it be a modified copy from Brave browser?
A: It has nothing to do with Brave; and, yes, the details are to be provided on the coming GitHub page.

Thank you for the marketing advice; will try to make some meaningful explanatory videos. Not sure we can afford to visit crypto conferences at the moment, though

45% Huh Huh

but why ?

Early believers have to be treated well. They help each dev to believe in himself more; that helps work better; that makes it better for everyone.
senseless. What early believers ? one is not an early believer if he got to know about ur project 3 seconds after the first 2 weeks timeline ? it is idiotic as hell. This is not some kind of religion that u need faith and belief's ? your Team must have the required motivation & work for the project.

No it is not helpful to anyone except the ICO flippers who will simply dump in the first hour cause of the 45% free coins the got.

please also do some google hangouts or YouTube videos / conferences explaining the product.

Thank you.

Our economic model differs from typical app.coin one in several aspects: (1)  ICO's share of emission is larger than continuous distribution (aka "mining") one (we have 70/30 ratio when usually it is vise versa); (2) we have a long ICO period since it has different economic sense and we need it as long as possible; (3) larger early-bird discounts because we have more than usual market-making power at the beginning of free trade.

Please note that none of the usual ICO-backed projects have shown any significant success yet. We don't see any project in the entire crypto space that would be a lightning house, an example or role model. Except for bitcoin currency itself. So, we might be right while everybody else is wrong. There's just no way to prove the contrary yet.

Q: "1. Is there a way for investors to see how many BTC is already invested? As you did not define a fixed BTC price, the actual final price depends of the overall number of BTC invested. Any new investor will be interested to see what is the "current" price of the coin (which is the "number of currently invested BTC" divided by 7,000,000,000,000).. That information is important to potential investors."
A: it is there, on the top of the page: https://ico.mass.network/#/

Its there indeed. How could I miss it...?  Shocked Not sure whether it it was added lately, or it was there from the beginning. I hope the former is true, so I don't need to check my eyesight Smiley

UPDATE: ok, I was looking on the home page, which is very similar to ICO page - except the invested BTC info. Thats why didn't notice it.. Anyway, thanks for reply! Its pity the number of investors cannot be seen, but asking for that would be too much...  In general the best ICO stats is the blockchain.info page of ICO BTC address Grin, but I understand it is hard to show all that info as the funds are probably being collected on different BTC addresses.

no, it was there all the time:)

yeah, also think the home page is not cool. Need to update.
