61  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: November 25, 2017, 01:12:37 AM
I'm mining with BitMain Antpool with my L3+ rig. The rate sometime not good at all and it give me lower than NiceHash.
Maybe start of next week I will change all my rigs to NiceHash and see.

Give us a sign about how it goes. I want to switch to another pool too because im not pleased with their payouts compared to nicehash calculator.
Pretty much every pool is expected to pay better than Antpool.

Pretty much every pool other than Antpool is expected to pay better than Nicehash.

Hmm low targets hey Tongue

I have done very well on NiceHash if you set your password to mine there when the rates are high. I have mine set at P=.21 right now and did great a week ago when rates where high. double what 100% luck on a pool would pay.
62  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Dead S9 Boards, any tips? on: November 13, 2017, 01:27:51 PM
I thought I seen something from Bitmain they did indeed opened a west coast warranty shop. If not I have used the Denver repair and they got my board back working.

I am wondering if the OP tried to plug in the bad board to another controller slot and see if it makes a difference?
63  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How many miner to produce considerable returns? on: November 05, 2017, 10:08:32 PM
Define "considerable".

To some folks, $1000 a month would be "considerable" - to others, it would be "pocket change".

yes. saying $1000. Using s9, how many would one invest?
thanks!

depending on your electric cost but you would need about three S9
64  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: pool suggestion on: November 05, 2017, 05:59:49 PM
No answers no ideas
should i go Kano or Slush???

split your hash between a couple pools, it will help avg out the highs and lows of luck.
65  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 240 blocks solved! on: November 04, 2017, 11:20:28 PM
how do we know if our ckpool have found a block or my miner have found a block?

just found out that my antminer s9 have found a block recently..

You do realize your nicehash config is the main and the pools under it are fail over pools right?

also on nice hash your miner most likely found a alt coin block for someone else that rented your hash. I have had miners on nicehash and they show 5-6 blocks found but none were BTC as the best share was not high enough.
66  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Slushpool minimum difficulty? on: November 04, 2017, 11:08:25 PM
this should be asked in the pools thread

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1976.0

this is the pool thread... right?

yes its the "pool" thread but not the " slush pools" thread

70  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does anyone make money from mining with eBay miners? on: October 30, 2017, 10:17:55 AM
the only thing wrong with ebay is that prices are always high. Other than that, eBay's buyer protections make the site okay for buying. The miners sold there are pretty much as good as buying from anywhere else as long as the miner's actually working.

Pay thru PayPal using a credit card. it give you a lot of protection if the miner does not work.
71  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Does anyone make money from mining with eBay miners? on: October 27, 2017, 01:44:55 PM
I myself look for deals on EBay. I bought a S9 12.5ths miner that had 1 bad board about 4+ months ago and sent that board in for repairs. I paid $900 for the main net thinks no I was still good even if the board could not be repaired but after2 tries and $250 spent its hashing at 12.3ths. So I was able to hash 2 boards while I waited onto repair which was better than waiting the 2 months from Bitmain for delivery of a new miner.

My next buy was about 2 months ago seen a miner 11.5ths and offered him $1500 within a hour of him listing it and he took it. So again the few hundred dollars more I paid was well worth the no wait and baby sitting Bitmain website waiting for the miners to go on sale.

I got both in my basement and have not had to turn my heat on in the house yet (northern Indiana), grossing about $900 a month right now with electric cost of @$250+ and free heat.

I started mining with a card and was in Canarys first batch of USB miners which I bought 15 of and spent about $3000 on. Moved thru the BFL miners, S1's, S3, S5's S7's always selling equipment and using better. I may have been better off to just hold those first 15 coins but most likely would have sold as I have sold miner coins along the way. The difference is I knew I can always mine more coins with the miners and this has worked out very well for me. I am very much ahead of the game with just what I have pulled out and am very happy with the coins I still have and 2 miners I have.

What's happening with antpool had never seen such a long period to find a single block.

Rank    User    History status                                           Status in current diff period
Solo      Block Number    Duration    Average Hashrate    Luck    Solo   Block Number    Duration                     Average Hashrate    Luck
1    antminer    359    2y351d8h18m48s    4.60 PH/s    101.20%                0                         11d1h54m57s            11.87 PH/s         0.00%

you will have a long wait. it looks like you are mining solo, try switching over to PPLNS then you will get something
73  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining vs selling hashing power on: September 19, 2017, 01:19:41 PM
Renting your miner out on Nice Hash can be very profitable. It really depends on what people are willing to pay for the rental. A couple years ago when there was a sha256 alt coin (which tanked very quickly) I was renting my miners out for double what I could get from any pool, all because people wanted to pay to find those alt coin blocks. A couple weeks ago Nice Hash was paying about 30% better than what you would get at a normal pool. You can set your miners to only mine at Nice Hash when it's paying good but it all depends on what price people are willing to pay for rentals.
74  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I have been mining for the last few winters on: September 07, 2017, 05:29:43 PM
That is cheap electric I pay about double that. I also like the free heat I get in the winter months coming from the miners in the basement.
75  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Are the Antminers still worth purchasing? on: September 07, 2017, 05:22:37 PM
thanks notfuzzywarm.  I got my first one from ebay and did pay over market price, but it seems like it is very difficult to get an order on bitmain website.  I will wait and see what happens.

I agree as I bought both my S9 off EBay and did pay more than Bitmain but have made that back by being able to mine instead of waiting the couple months for shipping. Just have to look for the bargains on EBay they do pop up every now and then.

Don't waste your time trying to get your old account unlocked, it most likely will not happen.
77  Other / Meta / Re: My Bitcointalk Account was also Hacked (username wenwen) on: August 12, 2017, 10:02:09 AM
I gave up on getting mine unlocked. My old account aurel57 has my bitcoin address posted on the profile and I signed a message a few days ago and verified it. I posted, send PM's and never heard a thing back. figured it will never get unlocked.
That sucks, great admins here, great support.... just great... Is there some kind of selection process which accounts get recovered and which do not like only legendary accounts get recovered? So frustrating to see your account owned by someone else.

Mine was a legendary account one of the reasons i wanted back. Also my trust which shows 0 now for some reason?

My old account is still screwed up, but I think I am locked out due to me putting the wrong password in to many times. ( Still waiting on Coinbase to tell me why I can not sign a message with my wallet so I can prove it's my forum account.)

wow just found a work around for Coinbase wallets to be able to sign a message...just did it and sent to theymos

for anybody else in the future just PM me and i will give tell you how to sign a message.

I hope to get my old account back
80  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: my long story with Bitmain and bitmainwarranty and S9 on: August 05, 2017, 03:55:22 PM
Sorry to hear that.
Have they said what the damage is? I can think of many things such as blown internal traces, lifted pad, etc.
Again, this is why Bitmain Warranty (and Bitmain factory service) need to provide a report that says more than 'Fixed" or "Unrepairable"...

no they just told me it cannot fix
so i paid 300$ for 8 hours of hashing with 4.6TH

Ouch! I just sent a board in to Denver and waiting to hear back. I think mine is repairable as it would hash great for a while then start to show xxx's and then stop. No high HW or heat issues from what I could see, just got tired of restarting the miner every couple hours.

Update on my repair. Got it back Friday and it is working great. The cost was $200 and they said it had a bad asic chip.
Well with just one week of running now that same hash board just started acting back up. Very disappointed
Well after 3 weeks and another $150 the board is on its way back to me. If I don't have any better luck with this repair I may look at a charge back either with PayPal or my CC company.

The repaired board has been running without problems now for over a week.
