601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: An (even more) optimized version of cpuminer on: November 11, 2013, 02:32:55 PM
Hi guys i'm building a custom version of cpuminer exclusively for Windows 32bit on 64-bit processors and Windows 64bit.
I'm not using the auto-build tools because it is a custom version with many modifications. (For personal use, i'm not going to distribute it).

I've almost managed to build it successfully with DevCpp,
except for a linker error: it does not find references to the routines scrypto_core, sha256_use4way and the other ones defined in the assembly files scrypt-x64.S, scrypt-x86.S, etc.

I've not modified those .S files, i've already compiled them successfully with as.exe and i have the .o files: scrypt-x86.o and sha2-x86.o
I've told the linker to include the .o files as libraries for the linkage, but to no avail.

Can i fix this issue maybe by copy/pasting asm code into inline assembly inside DevCpp??

Or maybe i need to define the asm macro for scrypt_core etc? I am not good at asm and i don't even know the business logic of those routines Smiley

What do you suggest?
Thanxx you
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Compiling pooler cpuminer on: November 11, 2013, 11:31:15 AM
Hi guys i need to compile pooler's cpuminer for mining scome scrypt coins with the CPU.

I've almost managed to build it successfully except a linker error: it does not find references to the routines scrypto_core, sha256_use4way and the other ones defined in the assembly files scrypt-x64.S, scrypt-x86.S, etc.

I've already compiled successfully those assemblies with gac and i have the .o files: scrypt-x86.o and sha2-x86.o
I've told the linker to include those .o files as libraries for the linkage, but to no avail.

I've opened the scrypt-x86.o with Notepad++ to find the string "scrypt_core" and it is there, so i guess there *is* the definition of scrypt_core the linker does not see.

The only modification i've made to both scrypt-x86.S and sha2-x86.S is: i've added the line
Code:
.code32
at the top of the scripts, to tell the assembler to build 32-bit code (otherwise it would raise errors for pushl and popl instructions).
Can be that the problem?

About the 30BTC bet limit: does that limit apply to the total pending bets too?

or it is only per one bet, so that i can even place 10 bets with 30BTC stake on the same event?
604  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBook.biz - Bitcoin sportsbook - Best odds - Instant Withdrawals on: October 20, 2013, 05:18:24 PM
Guys do you know how to cancel a bet? before the match starts of course.

i put too much stake for mistake!

if its around evens, just wager the opposite line to reduce your liability

eg

Fulham +0 2.080 x BTC10 = winnings BTC20.8
Crystal Palace +0 BTC1.862 x 5 = winnings BTC9.31

genius!!  Grin
i didn't think about that, i'll follow this tip no need to cancel bet
thank you

606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Scrypt mining] More than 4 GPUs on same PC on: October 16, 2013, 02:40:35 PM
How can i plug more than 4 graphics cards on the same PC?

I was wondering if some PCI Express 3.0 over USB adapter exists, so we can have even 15 Radeons plugged in via USB Smiley
For mining should be ok even if the bandwidth between GPU and RAM would be slow, because it does not count for this task.

I could not find such adapters, someone knows of them?

Hi guys i'm opening this thread to share your Litecoin/Feathercoin mining experience.
Please tell me

1- your mining hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM)
2- the full command line you launch for mining
3- did you ever burn any component? :O
4- how long did you take to reach the break even, or how much is your net gain since you've purchased the hardware?

thankssss
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FTC] How to mine Feathercoin? on: September 28, 2013, 02:46:50 PM
i'm mining from a laptop but limiting threads to 2, to use only 50% of CPU so i don't burn it. how long do you think a laptop can survive like this? have you ever tried?
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FTC] How to mine Feathercoin? on: September 28, 2013, 12:11:31 PM
Thx guys i'll give it a test

To avoid burning my laptop how can i reduce the cpu usage? is there some cmd-line option to slow it down a bit?
611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [FTC] How to mine Feathercoin? on: September 27, 2013, 10:41:43 PM
I've launched bfgminer with this basic command line

Code:
bfgminer --scrypt -u myworkername --pass=mypasssword --url=ftc.give-me-coins.com:3336

It started mining but it didn't accept any shares in 5+ minutes and it's like it does not even detect my CPUs!!

My hardware:
CPU Intel i5 quad core @2.27 Ghz
RAM 4GB DDR3
GPU Nvidia Geforce GT320M 1GB shared memory

From the image you can read "HW: 0/none", that none means no mining devices detected, neither CPUs nor GPUs
WTF why??

About the GPU, well i've not downloaded the OpenCL driver yet, maybe i have to put OpenCL.dll into the bfgminer's folder or something like that... but at least it would have been mining with the cpus.

thank you 4 your help

ok my BTC deposit has been approved, when i go to My Account it says i have 40$ in it,
but when i withdraw it says my current balance is 0 and it does not allow me to withdraw any money... Undecided
614  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin's Direct Competition on: September 16, 2013, 09:40:09 AM
:O
I have an account on enumbered and yesterday i've deposited 0.30 BTC just to see what is their conversion rate in USD....
today the deposit is still waiting for approval...we'll see in a few days what will happen but i suppose my BTC got stolen

I just want a reliable way to convert my BTC into USD and withdraw, eBay is not a secure way to do that and enumbered looked like the right solutions to me, but after reading this thread... i suspect i was wrong!

616  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining 12 hours/day: is it possible? on: August 11, 2013, 01:51:01 PM
In order to generate bitcoin, do i need to run the miner 24h/24 or i can run it for only 12 hours/day?

I suspect that when i plug off the miner, i'm interrupting the calculation in the middle and i can't resume it when i plug it on again, it will restart from the beginning.
617  Other / Beginners & Help / Is the Bitcoin ecosystem sane? on: July 28, 2013, 12:15:55 AM
Hi i'm new to bitcoin and i have noticed that everyone here wants bitcoin only to speculate and to exchange BTC to real money at the end of the day, instead of using it to purchase actual goods & services.

This is nonsense for a number of reasons, tell me if i'm wrong.

First, the main purpose of Bitcoin is to safely hide your money from the eye of the governement who overwhelmes you with taxes and halves your income.
Actually you may legally run a business making lots of BTC without declaring it to the governement, because for them you are not getting actual money so you don't have to declare it.

But...if you miners exchange your 1,000 BTC to real dollars as soon as you have mined them, the trick does not work anymore!! Now you have lots of real money and you have to declare it.

I don't understand why is this if there are many online businesses out there accepting BC, you could purchase almost all kinds of stuff that you need, directly with your virtual currency.
It seems those shops have very few bitcoin-paying customers, see for example bitmit.net, almost all auctions have 0 offers.

If we continue like this, those businesses will stop to exist and you'll only get BTC to be traded with dollars....which you have to declare Sad

Another issue : you miners can generate bitcoins only if there are transactions for which to find blocks..... but if people don't spend bitcoins .... there are no transaction for which to "solve blocks",  is that true?
So i think we have reached a point where there is no convenience in investing in a super-ASIC miner, because there are already too many out there and their computed GH/s will generate more blocks than the network actually needs, due to the lack of transactions to work with.

I was about to get an ASIC miner but i feel it would be a no-return investment for the reason above.
What do you think about it?
