606  Economy / Services / Re: Hiring someone for a small job on: August 13, 2018, 11:28:13 PM
Contact with LoyceV or DdmrDdmr. You can also contact with Vod.
Are these right people for job? And how much would it cost?

Vod is already scraping most profiles for his public information program, so he's defenately the right guy to speak to

https://bpip.org/

He probably has all the info you need in a relational database already

That is quite the site! Didn’t know that Vod was working on this but it’s pretty neat. Would be interested to know why he’s making this though. I just spent a good 10 mins clicking through different profiles. Nice stuff Cheesy
607  Other / Meta / Re: Allowing Mods to Delete Scam Threads (Marketplace) on: August 13, 2018, 11:11:55 PM
I'm also not referring to all potential scam threads but more so to the few with the tale tale signs.

That's the problem. By just saying that the board is not moderated for scams that absolves the forum of all responsibility. Once you try to start policing it then you are responsible.

I don’t think there’s really a legal case here. If it was a matter of legalities then that statement could be amended in a way that still absolves the forum from any liabilities whilst allowing appropriate practices to be enforced.
I’m not saying my idea is the perfect solution, but the marketplace section has become quite the mess and this is a good way to go about cleaning it and establishing some order IMO.
608  Other / Meta / Re: Allowing Mods to Delete Scam Threads (Marketplace) on: August 13, 2018, 04:07:00 PM
I can see a couple of problems with that. If the forum gets involved in moderating scams then when someone does get scammed they are going to blame the forum moderators for letting it happen. Conflict of interest might also crop up if a moderator is involved in doing business on the forum they could get accused of shutting out the competition.

Obviously disclosure would be needed to avoid that.
I'm also not referring to all potential scam threads but more so to the few with the tale tale signs. Another thought would be to tag the thread with a warning until the OP provides necessary proof.
However, threads started by noobs, advertising goods/services whilst not accepting escrow and preventing comments by locking/self-moderating are the ones I'm referring to more specifically.

...can we start allowing mods in the marketplace to close/delete...

It could be nice however problem is that scams are not moderated. However I see DT tags the users whenever they find anything suspicious.

As a community member if you find anything specious then create a topic on the Scam Accusations board and try to get the attention of the DTs. Make sure you have enough evidence so that the DTs do not need to waste their time. Together we all can make the forum a better place rather leaving everything on mods hand.

Scam accusation topics wouldn't really help in this case and neither would having a DT member tag the account. Look in the marketplace sub and you'll find plenty of examples on noobs creating locked/self-moderated threads where the offer is clearly too good to be true and where the negative trust doesn't deter them from reposting or creating a new account in the hopes that one gullible user will still click on one of their links...
610  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Four reasons that cryptocurrencies will revolutionize the online casino industry on: August 13, 2018, 03:22:17 PM
The anonymity benefit will only last as long as it remains deregulated. As soon as BTC casinos become mainstream there’ll be a push to regulate the entire gambling industry and apply similar rules/laws to those that apply to online and in-person FIAT casinos. As you said, it’s usually a matter of red tape. Just because there’s no red tape there now, there’s nothing to say that it won’t be demanded of soon.
That's it. When the demand for this system increases, for sure kyc will follow as FIAT gambling houses required this, and mostly, government will also pushed these requirements even in crypto gambling. It's somehow similar how trading websites are now asking for it coming from their users. The sooner that crypto gambling dominates or gain more attentions, it will be questioned by government bodies who have jurisdictions from the said crypto gambling house.

I'll second that it is a well know fact that many gambling casinos operate from countries that have minimal tax requirements or are called as tax havens. However most of the big casinos these days do demand KYC, however it's pertinent to note here they won't ask if it's a small amount unless they suspect you of fraudulent activities. Then there're casinos who're licensed and it's mandatory for them to record the transaction so this benefit is not going to last soon.

The very fact that USA senate is debating on the usage of cryptos says it all, we can't hide under the veil for long.

Another benefit quoted by you speed, it's not in the hands of casinos, I have seen the network jammed at times it takes ages to get the confirmation done.

Another point about trust it's easy for casinos to scam you by refusing you payment, as this is done by new casinos to make quick money.

Exactly. The only way to avoid the whole KYC process would be if a casino was to operate in a country where KYC practices weren't required. Whether or not such a country exists is something else but even so, I can't see a casino being able to withstand the pressure to adopt KYC practices for long as it could result in economic-suicide from the parent/holding company's protective.
611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Numbers speak louder then words! on: August 13, 2018, 03:16:18 PM
I’ll give it a miss, thanks.

Haha, this.
@OP, care to provide some numbers that support your claim on your own numbers?
Whilst some gambling involves strategy, there is no way of guaranteeing accuracy, unless you know of some fixed fixtures in which case I retract my statement  Cheesy
612  Economy / Goods / Re: DISPLATE - IMAGINE THIS HANG ON YOUR WALL!!! on: August 13, 2018, 03:10:10 PM
Some nice pieces on the site although not many that apply to cryptocurrency. The fact that they also don't accept payment in crypto is another downside but the site is pretty neat nonetheless. If anyone is ordering from them, they currently have a promotion running that discounts 20% (not inc shipping) using the promo code: MOTO
613  Other / Meta / Allowing Mods to Delete Scam Threads (Marketplace) on: August 13, 2018, 02:59:01 PM
I know it's slightly controversial, but can we start allowing mods in the marketplace to close/delete or even be able to tag specific threads that are high risk scams?
There are countless threads advertising goods/services that are blatant scams where the OP locks the thread/self-moderates not allowing any constructive comments.
I know a buyer should apply due diligence, but wouldn't clamping down on this eventually weed out the spam/scam threads and help with all the cluster that cthe marketplace sub is currently in?
614  Economy / Collectibles / Re: (wanted to share) Photos of the Topps Allen & Ginter crytocurrency cards on: August 13, 2018, 02:50:42 PM
lol @ Ticked,   Cheesy ....you know you will give in, right? Can't let everyone else have all the fun..... Wink  You can get a Case for $1075, FREE shipping, that's about $90 per box @ Diamond Cards.  OR if you only want a few box's, for $89.99 plus shipping you can order up to 3 box's with the Baseball Card King.
I wonder if anyone has the tenacity to get a case, and sit on it, because MAYBE no one will find it (plate) in a couple few years, and selling packs could be profitable...or even selling a box here and there.....NAHHH!!!  Tongue

I can't seem to put any boxes aside, I stare at the box and then before you know it there are rappers all over the place. LOL.   Smiley

I think that's the case with all collecting. I remember when I used to collect football (soccer) cards and it was just the same. There's nothing like ripping open a packet and seeing what rare cards you've managed to bag. I don't think I've changed at all  Cheesy
615  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blockchain for Good - TENUP helping Refugees on: August 12, 2018, 11:36:22 PM
What I don’t understand is why there is a need for this.
I can understand the need for something like this in countries with corrupt regimes, where currency fluctuations and inaccessibility to banking makes individual finance difficult.
However, wouldn’t refugees benefit more from FIAT donations and teachable skills that are applicable to trades thus increasing their chances of occupation? I still don’t see why this is necessary. There’s more effective methods that involve half of the hassle...

Im also unsure about your interview question. Becoming a legendary member on here is achieved through reaching high enough of an activity level by posting regularly and with quality (merit worthy posts).

617  Economy / Collectibles / Re: New Casascius Tracker (in development) on: August 12, 2018, 07:55:28 PM
Yes, Mike published a list: https://www.casascius.com/fulllist.txt

Do you got any idea what the thinking was behind publishing them since those addresses have never been used? Were they on scrapped or unsold coins? Or load your owns?

I think there were a few coins that were sold unfunded. Casascius did sell a few Gold 2FA 1000 BTC coins that weren’t loaded (Coblee has a bunch).
I could be mistaken but some could also be from coins that were never fully assembled. You can see the control
process Mike Caldwell used here: https://www.casascius.com/controls.aspx
Perhaps some coins were left unfinished but since the addresses were already generated they were published accidentally.
618  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Coin Market Core - Live Market Cryptocurrencies on: August 12, 2018, 09:05:52 AM
Looks like a coin market cap clone but with live market prices. That said, it seems like only a few of the coins actually updated periodically whilst the others didn’t change at all.
Personally, I’d try condensing the list slightly. There are too many coins being displayed that just add clutter to the screen. Perhaps allow users to compile their own list of coins to watch and implement a feature that allows them to bookmark that page to access their list when they want (no need to sign up). Simple and easy Smiley
619  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blockchain for Good - TENUP helping Refugees on: August 12, 2018, 08:59:32 AM
Bitcoin isn’t solely associated with the black market anymore. There were a few media outlets that were often quoted as a publishing that but public opinion has long since changed.
The media has been very positive about Blockchain technology and constantly writes about the good it can bring. However, I don’t see much of a need of suitable application when it comes to refugees. Logic would tell me that they’d prefer charity in the form of a widely accepted currency that they can spend where and when they need to.
Whilst the issues with those that lack identification is definitely a pressing matter, I think there are better alternatives as realistically there isn’t enough infrastructure to support this technology in these communities.
I admire your desire to help but I seriously don’t get the point in this as there are many more suitable, simple  and effective ways of tackling the problems you aim to address with the above.
