missed the livestream. Will there be some sort of writeup too? (I know it would be quite huge)

Of course ;-)

This is the summary of the live session which took place last saturday.

Thanks for doing this, and especially your work in the community! Much appreciated. I like the Q&A and maybe on a monthly basis or so would be a really good thing
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 07, 2018, 08:05:24 AM
Total transactions per second:
    Visa: 24,000
    Ripple (CCC: XRP-USD): 1,500
    PayPal: 193
    Bitcoin Cash (CCC: BCH-USD): 60
    Litecoin (CCC: LTC-USD): 56
    Dash (CCC: DASH-USD): 48
    Ethereum (CCC: ETH-USD): 20
    Bitcoin (CCC: BTC-USD): 7

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@steemhoops99/transaction-speed-bitcoin-visa-iota-paypal
VISA can handle on average around 1,700 transactions per second (tps), call it a daily peak rate of 4,000 tps.
PayPal, in contrast, handled around 10 million transactions per day for an average of 115 tps in late 2014.
Today the Bitcoin network is restricted to a sustained rate of 7 tps due
Iota can already handle between 500-800 tps.
Ethereum – 20 transactions per second (Cost= 0.01-0.1 USD+)

Only of those above, which itself advertises its speed is VISA Smiley
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_Inc.
can handle up to 30,000 simultaneous transactions and up to 100 billion computations every second

Is this the raw truth?
If it is, that makes two things true.
Crypto currencies are too slow for real world usage. And therefore LemonAndFries had it right:NEM is an experimental.

Now time for some fun facts that wikipedia won't tell you:
  • a) in case of any problems visa is pushing responsibility onto the banks
  • b) guess what, banks will push responsibility on you
  • c) they can achieve such speed, mostly cause they don't friggin care about double spends, why?
glad you ask, well see a) and b)
  • d) if your card will get cloned and used in some other country - guess what you'll be charged, getting money back often takes few months... (mind cloned not stolen, in case of stealing, chargeback to the rescue)
  • e) there are many POSes, that do not require chip-based authorization
  • f) even worse, there are places, that do not require your PIN when using magnetic stripe - only your signature - you might be lucky if someone will use your stolen card in this way, cause in this case banks often shift responsibility onto seller, and he'll have to cover for his loss
  • g) banks have limits on the losses they cover, so i) they will not cover if there was not enough funds stolen ii) usually there's some upper limit as well (although it'd be highly unlikely to get past it - i.e. you shouldn't keep that much money on account associated with your credit/debit card)) in EU it's several thousand of euros

So yeah, Heil VISA and let the banks live and prosper ❤️

Moreover, credit card issuers can easily block certain operations, like purchases of digital currency  Grin
https://twitter.com/coinbase/status/960726774391828481

But in the same way there are banks cooperating with exchanges too. So only the major ones are in fear and want to retain their power
603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: ELIXIR (ELIX) Crowdfunding, Lending and Payments Platform on: February 06, 2018, 05:22:12 AM
Is  0.80 cents a good buy price for this ?

definitely!
all under 1$ is cheap. its a good point now to buy some more ELIX tokens
Elixir (ELIX)
$0,340784 now
))

And how much do you get paid for propaganda?
The question is rhetorical

No need to be agressive !   The whole market is a bloodbath ! Nothing to do with Elixir

If you know crypto you know that during those time of  general FUD, everything is going red whatever the internal value of any project !

no need to track your portfolio and the project in USD, Quite stable in BTC ratio.

thanks for the update dev. Well appreciated and good as always
604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [MOON] Mooncoin 🌙 44495 funded addresses. 2,064,149 txs. 5 block explorers on: February 06, 2018, 05:20:35 AM
Hey.
On the exchange coinexchange.io I put an order to buy coins, at a price of 1 satosh.
This price was!
But the order is not executed.
In the history of orders, the deals at this price were .... why does not it work for me?

There is a lot of other buy orders at 1 Sat. If you want to buy at 1 Sat, you can buy only after these orders, which people put earlier, are filled.
If you want to buy instantly, then a price is 2 Sat. Or you can put an order at MOON/DOGE or MOON/LTC markets, but then you need first to buy LTC or DOGE.

But there is only one buy order on this exchange!
Someone who opposes 50 bitcoins changes to the moon, there are no more orders for the buy ..... only one sale.

In this bloodbath its quite clever to have some btc aside. So I think a few orders don't know about the revival and the development. Some orders might be years old
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 06, 2018, 05:18:53 AM
It would be good if anybody can share here your harvesting experience. 10 000 XEM is needed (minimum) for the harvesting process, and now when XEM fell in price as all crypto - investing this or bigger amount can be good investment.
While supernode (3 mln XEM is needed) is very hard to afford.

per month....
Vested balance - 0 .... 30500 XEM
Harvested blocks - 2
Fees earned - 1,05 XEM

It might be not the most profitable thing right now. But I think you will be quite happy with your rewards in one year from now
606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Seele is exploring the new peak of blockchain 4.0! on: February 05, 2018, 10:37:44 AM
Ouch! Thats bad fortune, hope the project will recover from that...

I don't think it has to recover since it wasn't their fault. But some more and clear communication would be helpful for sure
607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ALQO] PoW/PoS 0,17% Premine | Quark | ZeroCoin Protocol | 1-Second-TX on: February 05, 2018, 10:36:02 AM

608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Stone - DAG Data-Structured Private Cryptocurrency on: February 05, 2018, 10:34:31 AM
Hey guys!
I've been following this project since the early days and I'm eager to see how things will go. Therefore I donated a small amount.

I designed a small concept for a potential splash screen and the overview page in the wallet.
I know it's not even close to perfection, but what do you guys think about it?
I'm not fully content with the logo yet, but let us all contribute and build something nice!

@felixando: Good work so far! I love your ideas and I'm thrilled to see some source code soon. Smiley

Overview:

Apocabal, absolutely outstanding work!

Absolutely agree! Looking great and would love the community input. Might be necessary to think about the name stone though, since its already in use right now

Your request is valid, donators are automatically added to the list of testers, if requested

Hey Felix!  Can I be a tester???

Is there any rough date for the testnet already?

this looks really interesting, can we register somewhere to get updates?

not open yet on their homepage. I hope the registration starts soon
611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: ELIXIR (ELIX) Crowdfunding, Lending and Payments Platform on: February 04, 2018, 05:23:17 PM
dear community, tell me please
now amount of ELIX is about 1350 per one batch, right ?
will it increase from year to year like in timereum ?
thanks

you can check the actual amount on the homepage. I think the highest part is 5000 for one batch if you wait for years. But I don't know how long to wait actually
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 03, 2018, 07:43:11 AM
Really depends on if its an inside job or not i guess?

I suspect someone inside the company may have had access.
Still blows me away that they kept that much funds in one hot wallet.
At least 300M XEM was theirs that they bought in 2016 also. Dunno why that even needed to be in the same wallet.

That's the part that blows me away, actually. Why would anyone keep 5% of the total money supply in a hot wallet?

I just think they got lazy because they earned probably a lot and so the user funds were not that "worthy" to protect in regards to the own big stash. Only thing I could think of is something like that
613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Seele is exploring the new peak of blockchain 4.0! on: February 03, 2018, 07:40:27 AM
I'm reading their whitepaper and I'm getting more excited. "Neural Consensus Algorithm". To the MOON!!!

AI and everything neuronal is trending right now, doesn't mean it works as promised though. Needs a deeper look
614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Obsidian ODN - CryptoCurrency & Secure Anonymous Messaging on: February 02, 2018, 07:16:50 AM
Price has dropped quite a bit since I initially bought this. But I have added more now. What are roughly staking returns. Is it worth it considering costs of staking.

Did you think about a Masternode? Maybe this is the best way to go
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Stone - DAG Data-Structured Private Cryptocurrency on: February 02, 2018, 07:14:53 AM
Im confused with the donations are the donation is it split equally among all the donators or is it calculated for each person's donations

for example If i donated $1 would I get the same amount of stone as someone who donated $10,000

This has been discussed before. It is not clear but the consensus seems to be that it will be proportional to the value of what you donated in US dollars calculated at the end of the donation period or maybe at the time you transferred it.

It would be pretty easy to game the system and make 10 donations of $1 if it was simply divided up equally among number of donators.

Just imagine 1$ being a stake from the donation pool. The more $ the more stakes from total.
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 02, 2018, 07:13:07 AM
all markets are down anyway, nothing to worry about.

You’re awfully relaxed

Any more news or is it just India etc

experience make u face days like that relaxed
we did see btc 1100 2013 and below 200 in 2014

with such experience
today is just a storm in a waterglass

when many people panic

the successful investor see just opportunities

keep cool
act clever

I think many people just want to get out of bitcoin, since they thought it would go up to 100k immediately. The Altmarket is quite stable and you don't have to forget, the lower BTC is, the higher the possibility to have a new ATH for the alts (btc wise)

618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [RPX] Red Pulse Token – Next Generation Intelligence and Content Ecosystem on: February 01, 2018, 07:48:14 AM
Just noticed, that although the volume on both exchanges is not that big compared to the run 2 weeks ago (1.7m), Huobi actually now has a bigger volume than kucoin....

the volume is indeed getting bigger. But actually I hope it will not just pump and dump. Healthy growth is everything to sustain a decent price in the future
619  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Meridian Ⓜ️ | DIGITAL COLLATERAL 🚀 47 BTC Raised! on: February 01, 2018, 07:45:54 AM
I do not expect tokens until you get listed on an exchange. But there is the last day of January and you still do not list MDN.

Hello there,

That is correct! As a bounty hunter, you should not expect to receive any tokens until 7 days after an MDN/BTC trading pair opens up.

Details concerning exchange placement will be published shortly

The Meridian Team

So what's the exchange news?

Any update about listing on the exchange?

Thank you

should come up with more information soon as they stated in their last post
620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] BITDEGREE - Revolutionizing education with blockchain on: February 01, 2018, 07:44:33 AM
Not too far when people realize the potential of BitDegGree.

Mostly because they invest in icon and hoping for 10x and move on. Bitdegree will be huge and is really going to something what can actually be used, not just speculation
