603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 21, 2014, 07:31:12 PM
I just spoke with Mike over at Vault of Satoshi. Looks like everything is coming along nicely for Nxt.

I am extremely impressed with this site, I have recently signed up and funded the account.  It's going to give cryptsy a nice run for their money.
604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the hotest alt coin now? on: February 21, 2014, 05:12:18 PM
Karmacoin has a lot of mining support and has the same mission that Doge has and can't beat the name.  I also subscribe to the mindset of NXT and have invested there as well.   NEM and Ethereum interest me, looking forward to their launches.
605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - MANDATORY WALLET UPDATE by FEB 24 - Top 2 in CoinWarz on: February 21, 2014, 04:54:28 PM
I am requesting the karma community to donate some karma's for a giveaway on www.cryptoindia.org (India's only crypto forum).

Thanx

You need more users first and then I would consider it.  Giveaways help, but a community based on it along isn't what karma is about IMO.  Nice work on the site though, will be watching.

those buy and sell walls holding the coin between 3-4 sat really need to be removed.....

The problem is there are around 1B coins mined every day, going to be awhile before that price goes any higher.   Going from 3 to 4 Satoshi is a 33% gain on investment, hard for many short sighted to pass on that.  Too bad for them.

Can 1 Karma coin every be worth less than 1 satoshi?
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Centralized exchanges and the next BitCoin... (MtGox related) on: February 21, 2014, 05:52:56 AM
First time poster here...

I was just thinking about this whole MtGox thing... It seems that there is really bad price discovery between the crypto/fiat worlds.

BitCoin came about as a decentralized way of doing business, trading ideas, and the like...

Is there not a way we can have a decentralized way of doing price discovery and get away from the centralized exchanges? Maybe not a new coin, but rather a patch that can be added onto BitCoin? Maybe? If not, would a new coin be needed?

It just seems that the idea of a centralized exchange defeats the whole point of the crypto currency concept.

Now, I am not a coder, so I have no idea how to implement it... But if is not possible to patch Bitcoin, a new Crypto Currency is needed, and someone runs with my idea of a decentralized crypto exchange, please call the new trading unit a YAVORSK, instead of a Satoshi    Grin

This is my white paper  Cool

Steve

edited for grammar...

I believe NXT will be the first crypto to have a peer to peer exchange built into the client.

edit- Offspring Client is preparing to add that feature.

I would be willing to sell half of my NEM stake for 5 BTC if someone is interested, PM me.
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 21, 2014, 05:03:13 AM
I think we should brainstorm about how to get a FIAT <-> NEM service going.
Any ideas ?

PayPal shuts you down before you can say "new econom... aaaan your shut down.

If you wan't to work with wire transfer you have to go through tons of legal issues.

Physically sending the money takes way to long.

I'm Prince George Ngangi and I've been successfully running a Western Union based business operation from an internet cafe in Abuja, Nigeria. I'd be more than willing to help you set this up.

sounds legit

Hello all!
I suggest using this logo for NEM. This is not a coin, it is necessary to deviate from a circular shape.

YES!!

66 BTC orders currently straddling the market price of 3.5 Satoshi on coinmarket.io. Crazy pressure, can't wait to sell through those 4's and get moving up.

edit- Make that 68 BTC
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 19, 2014, 09:29:10 AM
i think all stake holders in group 3 of the statistics spread sheet should be scrapped.. no one that has just heard of nxt/nem/btc would simply open an acc just to apply for that and never use it again.. and like it says it some acc's show activity.. AFTER the stats are done and ppl realise they are in the bottom group they try and build up usage to get out of it to try and protect their multiple shares! i think community should vote on this! if you remove these inactive acc's which contribute nothing to the community and will most likely be merged with other multiple sock puppet acc's every one else will get a larger stake but still evenly distributed and you wont end up with 10/15 guys with 40/50 shares or more.. those acc's should be removed!

That is complete BS.  I made an account just to be part of this.  I was one of the first 2000 owners of NXT, liked the idea but was more fond of this more egalitarian approach.  I never felt the urge to post on this forum because I think that you should only post something if you have something interesting to add.  What you're saying is that if someone has posted posts like 'to da moon!'  or 'how much you think crapcoin X will be worth in 2015' in the past has more rights than someone who doesn't post crap like that?  Maybe I will contribute somewhere along the way, maybe on this forum, maybe somewhere else.  You don't know.

Maybe we should scrap all the accounts who actively try to slim down the total amount of accounts just to end up with a bigger share of the cake themselves, like you're doing right now.

Please do try to activate people and try to motivate them on engaging in this community but please DO NOT try to do this by bending or changing the initial deal/rules and by forcing them to post anything not worth posting on a forum just for the sake of it.

I have to agree that no one should be scrapped.  Yes there will be a few fake accounts but it would be much more sinister if an individual or two were wrongfully cut out.  My close friend who has been buying and mining BitCoin for the past eight months thinks there is no value in the alt coins and feels bitcoin will simply absorb any valid competitive attributes, he had NO account on bitcointalk and I convinced him to get on here and help fund this movement.  When NEM launches it will probably be worth less or close to what we put in, so someone with 10BTC could buy 100 stakes in seconds after it hits the exchange.  The real focus should be getting the word out and not wasting time on this.
617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: February 19, 2014, 07:20:31 AM
2018 $18,000 (US votes for BitCoin backed Dollar)

As in "The FED announces it has all USD backed by 18kUSD BTCs"? Do the math how far off you are even if they had 21 million bitcoin by that date. That would put US M1 to 21MɃ * 18k$/Ƀ = 378G$ << 2.7T$

Good point math champ!  Question then, if BitCoin were to replace 100% of the world's fiat tomorrow, how much would 1BTC be worth in USD?

Define the world's fiat and do the math yourself.

Wow, yea, I don't know how to define the world's fiat. Just focusing on the current US currency in circulation is the first and easier step.   Or I guess looking at each individual economy/market that could be replaced with the functionality of bitcoin is another way to asses it's future value.  Anyway, the current total US currency, is $10.5T. Total world currency is at $105T as of 2013.    So simply replacing the entire world currency with Bitcoin, today, would basically make each bitcoin around $8,500,000.000.  This doesn't account for the massive increase in efficiency over fiat, the savings in printing money, disposing of it, handling at POS (point of sale), etc.

So let's take a wild stab in the dark, and say that in 20 years half of the world's currency is based on BitCoin, with inflation, and in 2034, there will be approx 18M BitCoins in "circulation," each BitCoin would be worth $2,700,000.00.  So I revise my long term prediction to $2.7M by 2034, and since I will be 58 years old, I should only need to keep 1BTC to retire with  Grin

We could add the business of remittances to the value in the short term but would need to see Western Union begin to decay and start losing revenue before.  Their earnings came out last week and they reported flat year over year and predicted the same for this year.  During an interview with CEO of WU on CNBC he said they were open to the utilization of BitCoin as soon as it is "regulated."  I won't try and reinvent the wheel, this recent article in Fortune really does a fair job of determining a near term value, $50,000?

ATTENTION EVERYONE WHO MINES OR BUYS KARMACOIN!!! All the pools and regular miners getting massively ripped off on the block rewards right now. This is blatant and obvious to anyone who cares to look at the publicly available numbers. Their is no other explanation for what is happening. I am not going to try to tell anyone what to do but you look at the numbers and make your own decisions.

Last 24 hours of blocks found. Time period 4 pm on 2/17/2014 to 4 pm 2/18/2014 (PST timezone)

The two biggest pools for Karmacoin

http://karma.hashstrike.com = 230 blocks and 98155792.429 coins mined for an average block size of 426764

http://pool.karmacoin.info = 369 blocks and 163830536.742 coins mined for an average block size of 443905

Total blocks mined during this 24 hour period by everyone (numbers from the blockchain site) = 1411

Total number of coins mined with these 1411 blocks = 1082426659

Remove the coins and block mined by these two pools and you have the following:

1411 - (230 + 369) = 812 blocks by others

1082426659 - (98155792 + 163830536) = 820440331 coins mined by others

So then 820440331 / 812 = 1010394.496305419 average coins per block.

Yes ladies and gentlemen that means that the exploiters are getting over twice the number of coins per block as the top two pools combined over the last 24 hours. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE IN A FAIR COIN? The profitability calculators for this coin are way off and should be cut in half to get the correct numbers for us miners. The trade volume is dominated by the exploiters who artificially inflate the coin to make it look attractive. You my friends are the patsies in this scheme.

These numbers do not lie. There is no way this is pure luck. In fact they tell us a truth that someone has found a massive exploit of the code behind Karmacoin and is using it in our face without any fear of being caught. They do not care

Well if the devs do not do something immediately to remedy this I am going to post this everywhere and anywhere that people will listen. The best thing you can do right now is spread the word about this far and wide so that all miners know to steer clear of Karmacoin until this is fixed. As for what you decide to do with your own hashing power and hard earned cash I will leave up to you but I am not touching this coin with a ten foot pole. Good luck to you all.

Honestly, is there a conspiracy at work or are you just out gunned in the mining world now?  Try to stay positive, this is KarmaCoin after all!  :-)

Huh? You are not making sense. Are you not able to do basic math? My numbers don't lie. The system in place in far from level and if you want to go on mining the coin or perhaps you already have a large position that you are trying to protect then so be it. I will let everyone make their own decisions. You seem to want to take jibes at me personally while avoiding directly addressing the numbers which speaks volumes in and of itself. I am trying to save others from making a mistake in thinking this coin is actually more profitable then it really is.

I just went back and read all of your posts from Vertcoin to Maxcoin etc and you seem to fall in love and then a few days later try to crush the coin by trash talking what you once admired.  Just seeing a pattern and find it odd.  Read the previous posts where fairness in mining was discussed.  Quote those and make your case.  Your arguments was addressed from what I have read. sorry.
