602  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [03-22-2015] Coinbase Hits 2.1m Users Milestone on: March 23, 2015, 05:28:06 PM
The numbers wouldn't really surprise me as they are pretty much the easiest to purchase and sell bitcoins for Americans. Convenient as well.

I guess my question is what they based the numbers on
Registered Users + Merchants + Online Entities etc.
Anyways good for them thats a lot of users
603  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 23, 2015, 05:20:24 PM
I think it is very reasonable to give them last 72 h for a clear communicate as of what their next steps will be. If no satisfactory or no info at all is released than go ahead with legal proceedings...

I was expecting an announcement today.

Have not checked this mess for about a week
Anything interesting occur ?
604  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [03-18-2015] Bitstake – A New Nigerian Bitcoin Exchange on: March 20, 2015, 06:31:15 AM
Well it's too early to tell at this point in time
It will be interesting to see how it goes, and well worst case scenario it will be the Nigerian Bitcoin scammer
Sorry couldn't help saying that  Wink

606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please no more merchant adoption!! on: March 19, 2015, 07:38:43 PM
It's harming the price. A new merchant comes in then old time bitcoiners start buying stuff.

Joking aside, we need to promote not just merchant adoption but also ways for companies to pay by btc.

Well selling and converting to fiat does hurt the price.
I agree that finding ways for companies to use BTC directly such as adding a button for people to buy from other Bitcoin suppliers and distributors on coinbase to keep the welath inside the coin would be good.
607  Other / Meta / Re: fedup with these forums update now on: March 19, 2015, 07:29:32 PM
Just looked at his other posts. Think he's just trolling.

Makes sense half of that list are the traditonal newbie restrictions on the forums
With an exception to Avatars and login attempts.
608  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 16, 2015, 05:34:11 PM
Caveat Emptor and all.  Sigh.

I was an investor in AMHASH, just as I was once an investor in PETA.  Luckily, unlike our friend AirWolf, I remembered my experience with PETA and dropped out of AMHASH (too soon, but luckily enough did anyway) and recouped my investment.  I learned a lesson:  know when to fold.

I think the larger problem with all of them is they don't plan for expansion/upgrades.  It's all about the immediate return.  I remember when PETA actually had a vote about going 100% returns or not.  Because folks were more apt about getting their BTC.

Short term gain, long term loss.

Indeed, I rememeber that PETA vote well, and then everyone asking what happened to PETA when the hash became useless

The larger question is how long a mining bond can remain profitable without consistent reinvestment into mining infrastructure, given the risky prospect of large difficulty increases eating at your return.
609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1st European BTC embassy closes down on: March 14, 2015, 10:24:23 AM
If this is not a hoax or prank then it is concerning.
Well I'll hold my judgment on the reliability of the source for now, but since it is a new story to my knowledge it is something that I will keep a tab on.
That said the story of threats sounds familiar recall BTCGarden had a similar issue with an investor back in the day.

611  Economy / Economics / Re: 3-5% daily decline trend is back on: March 14, 2015, 09:53:14 AM
Lets see if we will go for new lows this time.
Nothing changed, this dead cat bounce was just bigger than the others.

I'll give it to you since the trend has been higher lows over the average but steady drops
If the pattern breaks then we will start seeing more significant movement
As it stands now it is as others posted out a brief recline after a move upwards as the market solidifies its postion
If it goes up again then the trend is broken, if not then it needs more observation to see if its a long run repeat.
612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Superior Cryptonote Technology on: March 14, 2015, 09:40:11 AM
I don't know enough about it to be able to meaningfully contribute to the discussion, but there is quite a bit of discussion about it in the Alt Coin Discussion forum, especially in some of the Monero threads.

At a similar level of knowledge but I'll keep a watch on it myself looking at how much discussion it has generated
It sounds interesting in concept though reading the wiki article on it
Some contorversies on that page but it's new relatively so I'm sure the dust will settle if the crytography is what is promised.
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you call it the block chain or blockchain on: March 14, 2015, 09:34:37 AM
Satoshi Nakamoto always referred to it as such:
block chain

However, I see the term "blockchain" used a lot anyways. Do you think we should use Satoshi's terminology to prevent confusion with Blockchain.info, who will usually just refer to themselves as Blockchain? Or am I worried about nothing? Tongue

Somewhere along the lines it seemed like it belonged in a new word category
While a Block Chain is the same as a blockchain
People recognize it better together than seperately rather that is because it has become a force of habit or a force of adaptation I guess the former dominates
Block-Chain meets it half way just to throw that wrench in there XD (-) good old - sign
614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rare address hall of fame on: March 14, 2015, 09:31:19 AM
Here is a vanity address with ~pi (3.14159265) amount of bitcoins (in 1 utxo):

1piBTCsBnCZm5Rv83c7oMR5kvU7JvzJy3

It may be not worth the hall of fame, but at least it is currently worth ~$900. Tongue

And here is another pi-related vanity address that once had pi BTCs:

1PiBTCsfBaBaSrxZ1QNX4u7cy92rkqsr3G

Have a nice Pi Day! Smiley

Well not technically a rare vanity address but nice bump.
It is a good way to remember the good old 3.14 Smiley
Happy Pi day to you as well warut
615  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 13, 2015, 05:38:00 PM
Ok, So the BE300 is dead (If the chips aren't ordered we are already months behind competition now), there is no point in carrying on.  What is the liquidation plan?

Well assuming there is one ongoing it would be to wait for Friedcat and the board to decide what to do next
Or news...
616  Economy / Speculation / Re: And this, ladies and gentlebears, is why we like the WSJ on: March 12, 2015, 06:03:20 PM
Ah this reminds me of the Rap News Series
We have MSNBC Cough pushing its propoganda spin while delivering the news and honest sources left alone
Just goes to show the quality management they have over there just image Fox.

I do wish that people would paint more targets like this to illustrate media bias
Would keep them on guard to not Bullshit  Grin
617  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who is the most powerful politician? on: March 12, 2015, 06:01:05 PM
Who is the most powerful politician?  What is your opinion?

Vladamir Putin getting the job done for the Russians
Silence his opposition and ex-presidents Mendenev who Smiley
Plus he does a decent job of managing his economy under sanctions
618  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 12, 2015, 05:54:00 PM
TaT is out. and has been for a long time.

Yes, that's what the picture I just pasted says.  It also mentions that TaT has passed control of the underlying assets, along with his seat on AM board, to James Grant lightbox Anon known as Havelock.

Unless I'm not fully understanding Bitcoin passthroughs, one needs to control the securities one resells, or how does that work?

Well it likely means TAT sold his whole position to Havelock
Although I'm not sure according to the transfer and TAT message Havelock is a board member so I'm kind of curious why the Panaminian group hasn't said anything about it.
619  Other / New forum software / Re: Signature changes on: March 12, 2015, 08:09:56 AM
Posted this elsewhere, figured I should post it here.

I'm pushing for a way to easily disable signature advertising on a per user basis, it would be a setting in your profile you could set yourself. Either filter them by keywords or regex, disable special characters and formatting to make signatures less obnoxious, or something similar.

If one can disable forum ads, one should be able to disable sig ads as well. Since signature ads are so much more prolific it only makes sense. Shouldn't have to disable signatures entirely just because because of ads, users should have the choice. Signature advertising would still be possible, just less effective, and would cut down on the spam without so many users needing to be moderated/banned.

It would also mean sig campaigns would need to be much more responsible. If your campaign has lots of spammers in it that you are not controlling, then people are going to block your ads. If your ad is obnoxious, people will block it.

Interesting proposal, well considering that forum ads are blockable by Hero Members the same extension could be applied to the signature slots in the bottom of our posts.

That said the question remains is it worth implementing this feature this late into the forums shelflife, in theory we are due to migrate to the new forum sometime in the year so who would put in the time and effort to code this into the current SMF software.
(Edit, I presumed it was for the SMF forum not new forum software presumptions below were based on SMF)

I think it would be a neat idea to customize it but not sure if it would create to much bloat, if I recall correctly Theymos never got around to fixing the IGNORE button on each persons user list, the signature campaign block would likely use the same type of code in order to create customized listings of blocked advertisments for each user.

In summary it seems a bit difficult to implement as the forum is presently, but may work in the new forum software, any rough estimates at how much time it would take to code the function (Wangbus)

620  Other / Off-topic / Re: How fast can you type ? on: March 12, 2015, 08:02:52 AM
Well I was bored so I tried it

Jesus, give me some lessons  Shocked

First tip
Don't look at the keyboard
Blink quickly and just go to your good old keyboard and type like theirs no tommorrow
Or go for the set that starts off with an easy list of words with letters near each other in general Smiley
