601  Economy / Economics / Re: Philippine Central Bank sets out policies for bitcoin exchanges on: February 11, 2017, 04:42:48 PM
but when China wants to prevent money laundry through exchanges, everybody panics!
If by 'everybody' you meant small number of Chinese traders then yes, they are extremely susceptible to even slight dose of FUD.
You can meet weak hands everywhere and it is quite a shame that actions of minority might influence bitcoin's price on a global level.
They need to educate themselves of bitcoin legal status outside China, then maybe they realize China's bitcoin regulation is rather lax.
602  Economy / Economics / Re: Philippine Central Bank sets out policies for bitcoin exchanges on: February 11, 2017, 04:29:06 PM
Quite standard move, nothing unexpected and drastic. At least Philippines recognized bitcoin as serious phenomena and now will standardize bitcoin law.
Let's hope that will only bolster consumer protection as only professional exchanges will be allowed to exist under this new act.
Unfortunately without AML regulations there is no way we will be able push bitcoin adoption further.
603  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can the price of bitcoin still skyrocket on: February 10, 2017, 06:55:20 PM
Looking at the chart for recent months, and comparing with what happened in 2013, the impression is that the Bitcoin price can in fact skyrocket sooner than we think, but I think technical analysis is not enough, we need to know if the fundamentals are favorable for this to happen.
Not everything can be predicted with charts, there is also other stuff to take into consideration like political new, the influence of the Chinese government and miners, will segwit be activated? And a lot of other factors.

Would be nice if the Chin Gov twitters  Cool just to pick up some intelligence early. Some people allready got good results watching the twitterstream of US new president, affecting stock markets.
Personally I would not like that, since it is very likely we will not hear good things about bitcoin from the Chinese government and if china went ahead and created a campaign to denounce bitcoin we could see the price losing value very sharply.
Do you think Chinese government can't do this now? And something is stopping them? Believe me they control internet in China, have regional version of Facebook, Google, Amazon.
They could create the biggest smear campaign in the world if they wanted. They don't need twitter, Facebook or any other western social media for that.
The fact that they are not doing any moves against bitcoin proves that: they either know its value, don't want go too radical, know that it is Chinese miners who control BTC.
604  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best practices to do or trade while bitcoin is dropping on: February 10, 2017, 06:49:04 PM
The oldest truth about trading, buy when there is panic and doubt. Go against the crowd. Don't sell and don't trade BTC when there is decline, buy it.
History will repeat itself every time. After some time FUD with be gone and bitcoin will rebound stronger than before.
Just don't get your emotion get in the way, nothing can kill bitcoin at this point.
605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is the Balance? on: February 10, 2017, 06:37:28 PM
You can disclose both location of your hidden paper money as well as where you hide copy of your bitcoin wallet.

Hidden physical money exists in a physical place. Someone could find it even if they didn't know it was there. Bitcoin is nowhere, pure information.
Yes, you are correct. But I see no problem with extracting this information from basically anyone. Couple hours of waterboarding should do the trick here.

On the side note: Do we know exactly how FBI seized bitcoins of Dread Pirate Roberts aka Ross Ulbricht?
Did they force him to reveal it by force, stash wasn't protected or he did it from his own good will?
606  Other / Politics & Society / UNESCO declares Islam as the most peaceful religion of the world on: February 10, 2017, 06:27:36 PM
"UNESCO has declared that Islam is the most peaceful religion of the world.

The United Nations body released a statement that revealed that UNESCO had partnered with International Peace Foundation six months back
to study all religions of the world and find out which was most peaceful amongst all.

When asked about the terror attacks being carried out in the name of Islam, the UNESCO official denied that it had anything to do with Islam.

Terror has no religion, Islam means peace."

Source:http://www.juntakareporter.com/world/unesco-declares-islam-as-the-most-peaceful-religion-of-the-world/

It is an old news, but I happened to find it just now. So I want to ask, what is your opinion on that?

It reminds me of time when Barack Obama won the Nobel Prize...

DISCLAIMER! It seems that this whole - ISLAM RELIGION OF PEACE CERTIFICATE - is a big hoax!
UNESCO already denounces this fake statement:

We wish to refer to the recent allegations posted on the website juntakareporter, citing an alleged statement and certificate from UNESCO declaring "Islam as the most peaceful religion of the world". Such statement was never made by the Organization and that the certificate reproduced on this website is a fake one. The website that published this information is a satirical media.

http://www.unesco.org/new/en/media-services/single-view/news/unesco_denounces_fake_statement/

Here's is another fake news saying UNESCO giving Islam a certificate of peace

https://en.dailypakistan.com.pk/headline/did-unesco-really-give-islam-a-certificate-of-peace-radio-pakistan-spreads-weird-misinformation/

So it looks like the media is trying to paint Islam as "religion of peace" Cheesy

Thanks for finding this info, Kemarit
607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you support Spoetnik's contributions to the Altcoin Discussions? on: February 10, 2017, 06:12:34 PM
Like I said before. Spoetnik's style amuses me, he is like crude diamond, rough around the edges.
I have to admit that his writing style is a bit arduous to follow and he probably could express his thoughts in shorter posts without all these additional side notes.
He is dedicated to the cause and I admire that, because I hate pointless projects, altcoins tailored only to grab money from your pocket.
I think if Spoetnik would be a little nicer and overall more civil in his comments he could become major talking head of altcoin community.

But well, I am a nobody, don't listen to my comments. I know nothing Smiley
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is the Balance? on: February 10, 2017, 06:01:14 PM
Things haven't changed and won't change. Bitcoin isn't anonymous, it is pseudonymous. That means govts can enforce their laws if they want to.

If you don't like the laws in a given jurisdiction, you need to move. Staying put and imagining that a bit of technology will get round legal structures is wishful thinking.

No-one said anything about anonymity or staying put being important, it's about the balance of control. Cash or bank account can be confiscated. BTC cannot. It's very simple, but apparently not simple enough for some

And so your reply doesn't even relate to what I wrote

I remember some bitcoin being confiscated and iuctioned by federal, the coins that we call taunted i think, i see no difference in confiscation between bitcoin and fiat, just more hard with the latter

Here is my final thought about this:
1. Physical banknotes can be confiscated if police will find your stash.
2. Bitcoin is easier to hide, copies of your wallet.dat can be stored on any device, optical disk, usb stick... You can even write it down on paper, or memorize your seed passphrase.

So it all comes to your strong will. You can disclose both location of your hidden paper money as well as where you hide copy of your bitcoin wallet.
The weakest link is as always human brain.
609  Economy / Economics / Re: Build a Bank Of Bitcoin on: February 10, 2017, 04:47:29 PM
I dont think this will click. Bitcoin is not meant for bank. Its not the purpose of bitcoin. Bank is centralized while bitcoin is decentralized system. We dont want our identity revealed. Plus, no banks ever done this before, afaik. Why dont you build an exchange rather than this? Exchange/lending service, that would be great.
Bitcoin was created to be alternative to banking system which is bloated with bureaucracy and may act like crisis generator.
We experienced that before in 2008, that is why Satoshi said we should have bitcoin, peerless and trustless way to send money.
But you are wrong, it would click, people would use bitcoin bank, especially when it would generate interests.
610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 🚀😍🚀😍🚀😍🚀😍 Mooning coins ... Better to get in 🚀😍🚀😍🚀😍🚀😍 on: February 10, 2017, 04:32:01 PM
First off, I feel this thread is more suited to fill in the Altcoin Speculation section than in Trading Discussion.
Secondly, I would like to hear some reasoning behind your hype and usually empty statements that "coin XXX will reach moon soon".
What is the market news? Will coin will undergo a serious update? Knowledge like that can change the rules of the game here.
611  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy back up! on: February 09, 2017, 08:01:31 PM
And China did it again. Chinese exchanges OkCoin and Huobi stopped processing withdrawals.
Apparently they need time to upgrade their system to be fully compatible with new regulations.
But they must have known that freezing money of their customers would cause panic.
So at this point I am beginning to think it is all smoke and mirrors and PBoC is influencing price from the shadows.
612  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017/02/09] Bitcoin Price Crashes as Chinese Exchanges OkCoin & Huobi Pause ... on: February 09, 2017, 07:48:51 PM
Boring.

Someone needs to make a bitcoin-isnt-banned-again.com to collect these garbage stories, I'm even less interested than the last time the PRC bureaucrats scratched their elbow in relation to Bitcoin
Boring? Maybe. So tell me why we have the same outcome every time and traders always panic?
Massive FUD, followed by price drop. It seems that China will try to curb bitcoin price always when it will reach +$1000
I am shocked that without Chinese margin trading, investors are still reacting allergically.
613  Economy / Economics / Re: Better adoption through use of mBTC on: February 09, 2017, 07:40:33 PM
Interesting concept, but I am not sure if I like it. I grow accustomed to standard bitcoin denomination, I have still trouble using mBTC.
For me using mBTC is like using cents to describe value - instead of saying - "I bought this for 14 dollars" would you say "I bought that for 1400 cents"?

mBTC may be helpful on the very basic level and for total newbies, who have no idea that bitcoin can be divided down to 8 decimal places.
614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is the Balance? on: February 09, 2017, 07:28:06 PM
If you think that fully decentralized, totally anonymous cryptocurrency will even get close to reaching legal acceptance and therefore, semblance of adoption - think again.
Even bitcoin is a bit extreme for some people, they believe that government intervention in bitcoin is only a matter of time.
Bitcoin will be bring in line with other payment systems, you want to use bitcoin? In the future you will have to register your BTC wallet & submit personal info or you will be marked as a criminal.
615  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think should be the right Bitcoin price as of Februray 2017? on: February 09, 2017, 07:14:44 PM
Your poll is badly designed. There is only one serious answer: $800-$1200. There is no way in hell that we will reach price of $2000 or higher.
$10.000 is totally impossible, even cumulation of extra bullish news i.e: SegWit acceptance by superconsensus and Winlkevoss ETF approval by SEC both happened, we wouldn't reach more than $3k.
616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you support Spoetnik if he had an ICO? on: February 09, 2017, 06:43:24 PM
So its settled then Smiley  launch that coin my friend.  Make it the craziest pump and dump system ever built.  Of all time.  My reasoning is, if everyone is concentrated on your epic new coin, then there won't be space for their own shit coins Smiley
Unfortunately things are not that simple. We have some amazing coins already and that never stopped greedy bastards from cloning it.
After some tweaks "new and upgraded" version is released just to grab your money, promising you moon after the very first pump.
The good tech can't kill bad tech when people are motivated by greed to create it. It is like with Chinese rip offs, we know they are disgustingly bad yet we are still buy them.
617  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin worth? Welcome to discuss on: February 09, 2017, 06:25:28 PM
Bitcoin has value because:
- it is useful, as currency, as store value and is treated on par with physical commodities like precious metals
- it it is limited - there is high chance that because of that trait it will be much more expensive in the future
- it  is decentralized - hard to track, useful as a safe haven investment or method for tax evasion
- it is used as equity investment - high volatility makes it good speculation tool
618  Economy / Speculation / Re: PBOC really wants to keep the price of BTC suppressed it seems on: February 09, 2017, 05:08:21 PM
I believe that if/when the COIN ETF gets approved, we will not only see more U.S.-based Bitcoin ETFs also get approval, but also Chinese-based Bitcoin ETFs as well as those in other countries will also start popping up.
It is a big IF rather than when. So far we have no luck with any ETF. Winklevoss, known for theirs by the book approach wanted to establish ETF since mid-2013 - with no effects.
Every time they were denied by SEC. Feds know that if they accept 1st fund of this kind there is no going back so they will try to hinder and slow this process as much as they can.
619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The best dice site? on: February 08, 2017, 08:06:54 PM
I saw someone mentioned Yolodice already and I agree, go check that service up. It is really breeze of fresh air after seeing useless dice sites like gooddice.
If Yolo can keep the pace and serve us interesting upgrades and features (zero confirmation deposits, customizable keyboard shortcuts) it will soon be the best site to play and invest on.
620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we have a bitcoin day? on: February 08, 2017, 07:20:26 PM
Calendar is fully booked!
Calendar is filed with more weird and useless commemorative days, compared to them bitcoin seems more fitted to be remembered by its own mini-holiday.
Most of these commemorative days are unknown for anyone besides hardcore geeks anyway. With proper promotion bitcoin's day can be the real deal in the future.
Especially if we can offer some kind of promotion on that day, for example goods will be offered at very reduced prices if you purchase them with BTC.
