601  Economy / Speculation / Re: Interest in bitcoin at an ALL TIME HIGH! on: April 13, 2013, 11:23:18 AM
This is an oversimplified analysis. A lot of the press has been bad in recent days. A lot of people like me are forming early impressions, so the bad press will put a dampener on growth. I predict a much slower climb back to bubble prices- after then, who knows.

Why would the "buy bitcoin" and "buy bitcoins" searches increase, then?
602  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Getting USD from MtGox to BTC24 on: April 13, 2013, 10:31:02 AM
I would like to know how to get usd that i have in my MtGox to btc24?

Mt. Gox has ended its redeemable codes.

Any idea why they did that?
603  Economy / Speculation / Re: Resetting or spltting BTC when it again gets to 200+ to enable it as a currency on: April 13, 2013, 09:58:17 AM
IMO we should have a unit for 1/1,000 and 1/1,000,000 only.

It would be like having millimeter, meter, and kilometer.  It is less confusing this way.
604  Economy / Speculation / Interest in bitcoin at an ALL TIME HIGH! on: April 13, 2013, 09:19:41 AM
Google trend traffic about bitcoin is DOUBLE that of last week: http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=bitcoin&date=today%201-m&cmpt=q

"buy bitcoin" is up from last week: http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=%22buy%20bitcoin%22&date=today%201-m&cmpt=q
"buy bitcoins" is also up from last week: http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=%22buy+bitcoins%22&date=today+1-m&cmpt=q

It looks like we might go straight into another bubble.
605  Economy / Service Discussion / Bitfinex stopped working? on: April 13, 2013, 12:02:16 AM
Has Bitfinex stopped working in the last few minutes for other people?

The order book is completely empty.  (No MtGox orders, no "MtGox is having issues" error,  and no BFX orders).

I can't buy or sell anything right now.
606  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: April 03, 2013, 12:28:51 PM
Did coinjedi take part in this bet?

That is the only way that his actions would make any sense.
607  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 03, 2013, 02:42:12 AM
I'm so pissed at betsofbitco.in right now.

They owe me THOUSANDS of dollars from that bet.
608  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement - ASIC mining processor by Butterfly Labs on: April 03, 2013, 02:36:16 AM
Not worth anything. BFL has not delivered its product. The bet is WON. "Butterfly Labs will not ship" before April 1.

I agree, but betsofbitco.in said it was a draw!

WTF??
609  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sold all my BTC@ $94 each on: April 01, 2013, 12:14:35 PM
It will likely break $100 tomorrow/tuesday, and $1000 by the end of the year.

Want to bet?

610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Zero knowledge proof of coin ownership ? on: March 30, 2013, 11:46:55 PM
This would not work.

1) This is not proof that the borrower will actually pay.

2) This is not proof that the borrower will not use the bitoins for some other purpose after doing the proof.

3) This not even proof that the borrower actually has access to the bitcoins.  For example, an online service could be made to do the zero knowledge proof for you. (You would then just act as a willing man-in-the-middle).
611  Economy / Speculation / Re: 8 hours on: March 26, 2013, 09:42:03 PM
I've said to much, this isn't a secure line.

Over and out.

Good point.  Someone might be reading this conversation!
612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looks like we are going to hit 1000 usd this year on: March 25, 2013, 05:26:34 AM
Anyone want to bet on it?

613  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL RESET] How low will we go NOW? on: October 07, 2012, 03:16:04 AM
11.85 now
614  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Best darn idea since pool hopping! on: August 24, 2012, 12:24:12 AM
Is it possible to know if you are going to solve a block, then just not pass that information on to the pool's server (just to be a jerk)?
615  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1DkyBEKt5S2GDtv7aQw6rQepAvnsRyHoYM on: August 19, 2012, 05:05:06 AM
Someone with at least 10k BTC placed a wall.

Perhaps it is the same person?
616  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens to Bitcoin when free energy is available? on: July 26, 2012, 01:43:10 AM
If energy is not a limiting factor, other things will be:
-Space (with high enough difficulty, a room full of computers wouldn't get you minimum wage)
-Computation speed
-Cost of labor (with high enough difficulty, people will realize they are making less than minimum wage setting up computers)
-Heat (even with free energy, heat will be a problem as you will need fans or air conditioning)

...and so on

617  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Payout Updates] Bitcoinica site is taken offline for security investigation on: June 15, 2012, 02:16:39 AM
If you are going to liquidate my position at $5 then I demand that you also exchange my USD account for BTC at the same $5.  This is outrageous.

Agreed.

I was long 10:1 but deposited money in USD.  Going from 5.00 to 5.90 would have nearly tripled my money.  The least you can do is give me 1:1 by giving me BTC instead of USD.
618  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: btccharts.com on: May 07, 2012, 03:09:25 PM
www.btccharts.com has not worked since the move
btccharts.com works just fine, though

I was trying to access the site by typing "chart" into FireFox's address bar, and www.btccharts.com shows up since that is the URL that I first used.

I wondered why nobody else was posting about it being down.   Grin
619  Economy / Speculation / Re: Paying all longs and btc deposits at bitcoinica! on: May 02, 2012, 01:02:31 AM
Now Bitcoinica is paying shorts...

What happened?
620  Economy / Speculation / Re: latest rally started with Diablo3 open beta opening on: April 23, 2012, 11:51:01 PM
We just need to start trading diablo3 items for bitcoin amongst our self's and others will follow
That's a good point.

One problem in D2 is that there are eight ways to play (classic or expack, ladder or non-ladder, SC or HC... 2*2*2=8) and there are 6 realms (east, west, euro, asia1, asia2 and asia3) for a total of 48 places you can make your character.  With D3, it looks like there will be only SC/HC and 6 realms, for a total of 12 places you can make your character.

That should make it somewhat easier to start a new community since you won't need as many people before the network effect starts to take effect.

@Zotia  will you trade diablo3 items using bitcoin?

If there is a bitcoin trading site that has enough buyers and sellers then yes.

For example, on Ogrr.com on the USEast classic forum, there are only 5 threads. https://ogrr.com/forum.php?f=122
-4 are SCCL (Softcore classic ladder)
-1 is SCCNL (Softcore classic non-ladder)
-0 are HCCL (Hardcore classic ladder)
-0 are HCCNL (Hardcore classic non-ladder)

As you can imagine, it wouldn't work very well to trade with such few people.
