Update to main post.
602  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Accepting Hardware] ASIC Miner Hosting (Managed) - Electricity @0.02/Kwh on: August 16, 2013, 09:07:09 PM

is there enough space left for a knc saturn rig, minus psu?

Yes, I'll PM you so I can send over our hosting agreement.  We have space now and we are adding more capacity to meet future demand.  Inquires have been strong.  Signed up over 1 Thash in the last 24 hours.  Tomorrow I am meeting with another client and drive their gear straight to hosting.

604  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Rack mounted miners? on: August 15, 2013, 04:05:47 PM
Avalon announces at their site coming: "2U 17inch deep server blade slated as Avalon Version 2" and "immediate delivery at mid October 2013" Lets see and what will be the price?!

With the smaller chip they might be able to get away with 2U.  The heat density and generation is the biggest challenge.
605  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Accepting Hardware] ASIC Miner Hosting (Managed) - Electricity @0.02/Kwh on: August 14, 2013, 05:41:38 PM
If I only knew how to make BFL ship my Singles to your Hosting Facility instead of mine, I'd gladly join in.
It's just too hot in summer in this flat...

I contacted BFL support and they said it was OK! to change shipping address to the data-center DIRECTLY. Write an email to BFL support listing your order numbers and data center name and shipping information and they will send there.

Great news.   We just added more cooling today.  Demand is picking up.   Had 3 new inquiries in the last 12 hours.
606  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 13, 2013, 10:25:21 PM
Unfortunately, Avalon chips are so inefficient, that the delay means negative ROI by the time you get your boards built and mining. Even if Yufi decided to refund everyone and give you the chips for free!

The recent difficulty jump has made any ASIC over 3watts per GH/s not viable unless you get dirt cheap electricity. Which means ASICminer, Avalon, BFL are now all pretty worthless, and orders should be cancelled until a more efficient chip is available. The only savior would be if we see a massive rise in BTC/USD price which, to my surprise, has not moved to reflect the change in difficulty. I expected BTC/USD to be back around $200 now, with miners refusing to sell new coins for any less.

The inability for ASICs to cover electricity costs is a serious issue. Look out ASICminer shareholders!

Here is a mining ROI calculator with presets for most popular.

http://mining.thegenesisblock.com don't forget to set your local electricity price correctly first. The default is 15cents/kWh mine is 24cents!

Come host with us.  This is exactly why I setup shop with .02/Kwh electricity.  You will need to long term hashing timeframe to mine back your investments.   We are live and ready to roll.

Why didn't Bitsyncom get one?

One word:  China
608  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Holy 50Thash batman! on: August 09, 2013, 05:34:14 PM
The key to there solution is that it will be shipping very soon.   You have to figure that in your numbers.  By soon I mean soon.
609  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Useless ASICs on: August 09, 2013, 05:31:36 PM
Ok so theoretically, won't we reach a point where so many people have ASICs that they will generate fewer in BTC than they consume in electricity? Won't we reach a parity of sorts at which point people become unmotivated to mine in any way? This would be just like what has happened with the GPUs and FPGAs, but without a possible improvement of mining technology.

Obviously, should they become worth 1000$ each then it remains worth it for longer.

I sort of imagine a future where bitcoin mining is done philanthropically by those who can afford to, in order to keep money honest, but not as something you are materially rewarded for. Maybe even by a *shudder* elected body.

Come host with me.  I can give you a secure and optimal environment and .02/Kwh power so it will take a long time for it to consume itself in power.      We are fully live (spent yesterday setting up all the racks (tired sigh).
610  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Alydian Announces 5/10TH Systems w/ 65nm Chip on: August 07, 2013, 08:53:50 PM
Everyone seems to be forgetting that they host the equipment for no extra costs. This saves a lot of $$$ on HVAC, power costs, and time spent. HVAC/power costs would cost a small fortune for a farm in the range of 5-10Th (especially if these are built on Avalon's power hungry chip design.)

Is 8% APY really that bad? I think it's quite nice considering they do all the work for you.

That is what I charge for hosting that includes all that as well.  CoinHoarder is absolutely correct about that.   I know what it takes to cool and power 5-10 Thash.   What I am saying is that what they are offering is just a nice package of existing ASIC options.  Nothing ground-breaking in the arena of their own chip.
611  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Alydian Announces 5/10TH Systems w/ 65nm Chip on: August 07, 2013, 08:30:25 PM
Alydian’s launch-day pricing was $65,000 per Terahash [...]

I wonder if they've gotten the memo that most other mining companies get around $10k (or less) per 1TH/s...or I could just buy from Bitfury or KnC and pay a fraction of what they're asking for the same speed.

I am not sure if you picked up it but it looks like they just purchase a batch of Avalon or BFL Chips and are re-packaging them into a solution.  I am leaning towards Avalon.    If you buy a Avalon batch then you get 3 Th per batch.   Nothing suggests that this is there own chip.

Thoughts?

Could certainly be the case, and would also help explain their exorbitant pricing model. I'll have to give it another look and edit later.

Yeah, it is funny that kind of stuff stands out to us so quickly.  How have you been Korbman?  You should add me to Skype so we can catch up.
612  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Potential earnings for BFL 500GH/s ASIC on: August 07, 2013, 08:14:51 PM
It is going to get much harder to get ROI on unit because of the amount already purchased.   What you need to think about it your running costs to really figure out how long you can run it before it costs more to run it than what it outputs.   Many people are in high electricity cost areas and on top of that you need to think about cooling as well.   It will shake miners out over time.

Question:  I notice that the reported speed on the website under an account can be much lower than what an Avalon is reporting internally.   Have others voiced this concern?   I would like to figure out why this is?

Can you tell me how you get the estimated speed and how often it updates and how long one should wait before it is showing the current speed.   It is instant or does it take some time for the estmated average speed to reflect what is really being hashed?

615  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining bitcoin with 1st gen hw doesnt seem to make sense at all by next year on: August 05, 2013, 03:40:26 AM
If no one runs Jupiters, then there will be no reason for anyone to run Jupiters or any other hardware, in which case the difficulty will go back down and it'll be profitable to run them again.

In the end, it'll be like GPU miners, cost of electricity will be the limiting factor.

Yep, I realized this a while ago.  In the end, power, cooling and rent will be the limiting factor.  That is why I setup a hosting location.  Once more people realize this, we will likely fill out all our racks in short order.
616  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Guy who just invested $200m in Avalon through about investing in BFL. Didn't. on: August 05, 2013, 03:36:03 AM
Great find sir.   The speculation will be rampant.  200m seems like a large amount when you have just over 1 billion market cap total.   There must be another play that either we don't know about it we will soon.
617  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Accepting Hardware] ASIC Miner Hosting (Managed) - Electricity @0.02/Kwh on: August 04, 2013, 02:07:02 AM

Nope.  I am working on the website and it will be online soon.
618  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Rack mounted miners? on: August 03, 2013, 09:03:43 PM
Another option is to get a server shelf.  That is what we are doing with the avalons and BFL units that we are hosting.
619  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Accepting Hardware] ASIC Miner Hosting (Managed) - Electricity @0.02/Kwh on: August 02, 2013, 08:03:12 PM
Thanks... i think then its best to create everything before, test it so that it runs fine and ship so you can turn it on and it mines.

What about merged mining? Did your coder look into it and was able to create something? Maybe he should check out what markm did here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=224087.0 It might be useful to work on this. Maybe bringing it forward will help your pool and markm's code, so you help each other. Merged mining seems to me like the best opportunity to maximize the mining income at the moment without having to switch coins to mine every hour. Would be a nice plus.

Yep my engineer looking into.  We currently only primarily mine with pools that offer merged mining.   As long as its assembled and you can send me the drivers or what ever is needed to run the mining function.  I will test it and then get it hashing.

Nice.

What about GPU mining hosting? An update on that? (what if I were to send you, say, a parts shipment directly, with build instructions? Smiley )

Please PM me with the amount of hash total, how many machines and the PSU size for each box.   I need to calculate the amount of cooling they will need along with space requirements compared to how much hashing.   I will get an answer back soon.

Thanks,
D
620  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon batch 3 ROI on: August 02, 2013, 05:29:47 PM
4 modules.
@350 it crashes in under 1 hour (hard, so I have to power cycle)
@325 it crashes in a few hours (soft until now, so I can restart it from interface)
@300 I'm not sure yet, it crashed once after 4-5 hours.
It is installed in temperature controlled room, 21 Celsius.
Temperatures are 5 degrees under what is it default for batch3 (Temp2 is 65).

Have you tried the --avalon-auto option in the Cgminer Configuration tab, More Options box?  I think that became availible in the 20130703 firmware but don't quote me on that.  The --avalon-auto option automatically changes the frequency to find the best option for your machine based on heat etc.  It might get your unit up and running while you can research a fix.

Good luck,

_theJestre
EDIT: And then there was this post today in the Avalon user's thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=140539.msg2853166#msg2853166

Great tip.   Is there a list of all the commands that input box supports?    Mine shipped with the --real-quiet option as the default.
