Four days later....and after fundraising.  Pathetic!

Obama demands access to crash site, cooperation from Russia

(RNN/CNN) - Some of the bodies recovered from the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 are on a refrigerated train, on their way back to their loved ones.

This comes after President Barack Obama demanded to the Russian-back separatist to allow investigators on the ground access to the crash site to allow those who died to rest with dignity and be reunited with their loved ones.

"Time is of the essence - our friends and allies need to be able to recover those who are lost - that what decency demands," Obama said from the White House Rose Garden.

The president also called on Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government to use its influence over the pro-Russian rebels to allow investigators to the crash site. The president also expressed anger that bodies were being moved "without the care and dignity one would expect in a tragedy like this."

Too bad obama didn't make the same demands regarding the Benghazi compound, but then again since he called the Libyan president at liar for saying it was a terrorist attack I guess obama didn't have any pull.  And given that he lied about the Benghazi attack and covered up the facts its kind of hard to believe that Russia or putin views his demands with any credibility especially after the obama admin responded to the IRS investigation with the childish lie that the "server ate every email the investigators are interested in". Not just once but a second time when the fired fec employees email was requested as grounds for fed charges.
602  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Israel: Operation Protective Edge on: July 22, 2014, 02:10:38 PM
It has more to do with power groupings and how coalitions have to be formed within Israel and the desire to simply occupy the land regardless of the security challenges that doing so creates. All the proof one needs is Israel's continued refusal to halt settlement expansion despite the fact that the Michell Report clearly indicated it as one of the single largest contributing factors to instability that led to the Second Intifada. (that's also why Bush's Road Map for Peace plan had Israel halting settlement expansion as its first phase of a peace process).

"Security" concerns are an obfuscation tactic that has long been used by Israeli administrations to divert attention away from other relevant issues and as an excuse to act militarily during times in which they are losing ground diplomatically.
I don't understand what you mean. As far as israel is concerned, the status quo is a level of security that they know and they can tolerate. while any deviation from he status quo is a level of security that is unknown, and potentially much worse (especially given the state of affairs in the larger middle east). any actions taken towards a two state solution are not guarantees of a lasting peace (as far as israel is concerned), they are just movements away from the status quo. could the most well-meaning palestinian government guarantee peace? is it worth it for israel to find out?

obviously a guaranteed peace would be wonderful. but you can't really guarantee that kind of thing in this situation.

in the end the palestinians will get what they want, because this is ridiculously unsustainable. but it won't be for a while and a lot of people will die first. just the way it is.

Still some hard to prove infos but a state like Russia would not compromise itself by presenting false or modified evidences. What Ukraine is doing on the other hand is stupidity and desperation....
ps: and about that shot in the leg.... they did it before..... way worse than ud believe... they bombed their own troops a couple of times since this crap is on. the rebels werent any better either tbh , they also colided in very unpleasant ways to say so....

The Fiscal Fizzle
Quote
For much of the past five years readers of the political and economic news were left in little doubt that budget deficits and rising debt were the most important issue facing America. Serious people constantly issued dire warnings that the United States risked turning into another Greece any day now. President Obama appointed a special, bipartisan commission to propose solutions to the alleged fiscal crisis, and spent much of his first term trying to negotiate a Grand Bargain on the budget with Republicans.

That bargain never happened, because Republicans refused to consider any deal that raised taxes. Nonetheless, debt and deficits have faded from the news. And there’s a good reason for that disappearing act: The whole thing turns out to have been a false alarm.

MHO should just send over a "Reset Button" to Libya and all will be well. There won't even be a need for any childish hashtags.
How would everything be all well if Libya was engaged in a long lasting civil war with Gaddafi at the head of things? Having celebrities hold up signs with douche chill inducing sayings is a cure all.. ...?

However, there are a few truly scary prospects for organic humankind if it ever happens.
Here's one, a techno-futuristic cautionary tale:

WARNING: Reading this article may commit you to an eternity of suffering and torment.

Slender Man. Smile Dog. Goatse. These are some of the urban legends spawned by the Internet. Yet none is as all-powerful and threatening as Roko’s Basilisk. For Roko’s Basilisk is an evil, godlike form of artificial intelligence, so dangerous that if you see it, or even think about it too hard, you will spend the rest of eternity screaming in its torture chamber. It's like the videotape in The Ring. Even death is no escape, for if you die, Roko’s Basilisk will resurrect you and begin the torture again.
Are you sure you want to keep reading? Because the worst part is that Roko’s Basilisk already exists. Or at least, it already will have existed—which is just as bad. ...

The idea is that merely by negatively affecting the possibility of the coming into existence of this particular demon-intelligence NOW, the super-being, having attained the ability to retroactively punish those who didn't help it come into being, will wreak revenge.

608  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - what will surpass humans? on: July 21, 2014, 05:20:11 PM
Other creatures are already kicking our ass.  Define dominance.  In my book bacteria and insects win.  They are dominant.  We die without them.  They could car less if we disappear tomorrow.   There are many animals whose disappearance would be the end of us, while our disappearance would matter to no one but dogs and they would forget us in about 2 days.
Apparently you have one in mind, as you've declared non-human organisms to be "kicking our ass".  In what terms, exactly?  What do you mean by dominance?  Numbers?  Biomass? What?
609  Other / Off-topic / Re: Precognition anyone? on: July 21, 2014, 04:40:11 PM
Humans are very repetitive creatures. We do the same things daily. What you described as precognition is really just something you were expecting to happen that did happen because you have experience living life day to day. Work is the same every day. "Oh man, it's going to boring today." Work is getting harder. "Oh man, it's going to be a bad day at work today." Friends are expecting to hang out with you. "I'll have fun today." Friends are too busy. "Life at work is hard and I have no one to socialize with today." It's all how you look at what happens to you daily that you start realizing patterns and piecing it all together. It's not some sixth sense.
I.e. it's patterns that we begin to recognize after 20, 30, 40, 50 years of repetition? Kind of like when people think they have bad luck, and thus they will?

First of all, it's been hard to get anyone except my best friend to have an honest discussion about this. I'm not here to argue, just explore a subject that interests me to learn about lately. Let's keep this fun and interesting.

I've had a few notable times in my life where, while awake, I get a really really strong feeling about something. It doesn't feel like "just a hunch," i.e. "if I don't do this work now, I will likely get in trouble." When it happens, it isn't something that comes from me debating anything (i.e "should I do this work now?"). It just pops up. Recent times this has happened that really sparked my interest:

1. I was at a friends, waiting for somebody to show up. I suddenly felt like the guy was there (there was a ~30 minute time window for this), and sure enough he had just arrived. I've had similar things to this many times before.
2. I had a really big hunch something (negative in this case) was going to happen at work. No real clear factual signs suggesting this event was coming. 2 weeks later, boom. Even my dad noticed this, and said that's odd I was freaking out about it weeks before.
3. An old one, but when my grandma passed, I had a feeling she did, nobody told me for a week, then they broke the news to me. I spent a week thinking she was gone, and she actually was.

Really crazy how this stuff happens. When I was much younger, my friends and I used to joke about my "6th sense." I take a little more interest in the subject and possible causes now (even coincidence) however.

Anyone else?
612  Other / Politics & Society / Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - what will surpass humans? on: July 21, 2014, 04:12:25 PM
Article below apparently was prompted by the recent release of the movie "Planet of the Apes'.   Interesting read, regardless where one is coming from on this.

It notes that, while it is unlikely that apes will surpass dominance over humans (even in the movie with the virus scenario, there are currently only so many apes in the world), it does discuss other creatures that might, if humans were to disappear.

The thinking being is that, while humans are here, no other creature currently stands a chance.

Three examples of creatures that could are (one which will delight Mickey I think) - rats, pigs and - ta da - artificial intelligence.

It then goes on and discusses some creatures that might be considered rather dominant even now.  Bacteria and ants.

http://news.yahoo.com/species-rules-earth-answer-may-surprise-135726244.html

For instance, there are many more ants than there are humans, and their total weight, or biomass, equals or exceeds that of humans, Moffett said.

They also use traditional military rules of engagement to wage war. For instance, they rely on "shock and awe," in essence swarming their enemies with sheer numbers to overcome them. Ants also throw the weakest, scrawniest members of the colony out front while keeping their "supersoldier" ants to the rear, just as the front lines in many battles are made up of the least trained and most poorly equipped soldiers, Moffett said.

This strategy has proven incredibly successful

The Argentine Ant first hitched a train ride to California in 1910. Now, a supercolony stretches across most of California, and is waging all-out war to expand its turf with another supercolony in Mexico, he said.

Israel needs security guarantees. I would personally like to see Israel get 2 Los Angeles Class submarines, 10 F-22s, and 20 F-35s in exchange for pulling out of the West Bank. Receiving these advanced weapons systems would be contingent on Israel immediately withdrawing all settlers from the West Bank.
Israel largely isn't in the West Bank because of security concerns; thus offering them "security guarantees" wouldn't do much to promote their withdrawal.
Israel would be between 6 to 10 miles wide if it withdrew from the West Bank. But giving them 2 nuclear-powered attack submarines to defend their Mediterranean coast, and F-22 and F-35 fighter jets to defend themselves from attacks coming from Gaza and from Lebanon might make them reconsider having a military presence in the West Bank.
Israel largely isn't in the West Bank because of security concerns; thus offering them "security guarantees" wouldn't do much to promote their withdrawal.
I kind of repeated myself, didn't I? I think it was important enough to repeat.

But what do you personally think of my plan? I think it is time to give Israel true security guarantees in exchange for territorial concessions.
Why? So they can then use those weapons to retake the territory as soon as one extremist lobs a few missiles at them? I can understand Israel wanting to defend itself, but throwing more American money at them when they've proven any pull-outs they agree to are always temporary, and dropped at the first sign of any violence from Palestinians, is not the way to go about this. Both parties need to be brought to the table to find a real resolution. I don't know what that resolution is, but throwing more American money away with armaments to Israel in exchange for temporary territorial concessions isn't it.
Israel doesn't retake territory. Israel gave up the entire Sinai Peninsula and Gaza already. It hasn't retaken any territory. Israel is the only country told to give back territory it won in defensive wars.
you're ignoring the Jewish settlers that move into large areas of supposedly Palestinian lands. you're ignoring the IDF literally bombing the shit out of the areas they don't reclaim via "settlers." and i'd bet the only reason they haven't attempted to retake the Sinai is because Egypt would have a lot more to say about it now than they did then.

Russia is NOT trying to start WW3. Obama is doing far more harm to America than a war. If they really want a war they will wait till his cabal is out. However Russia does need a ground route to its southern ports in
Well, Russia started WW2 by pushing Hitler to invade Poland and agreeing to split it between Germany & Russia. Let Hitler and Europe destroy themselves then Russia takes all of Europe. Too bad the Japanese spoiled their plans by bombing Pearl Harbor. They're doing the same thing by arming & pushing the separatist to fight whille denying knowledge. I guess it's between the devil we know and the devil we don't or at least America's atrocities are in limited warfare and not responsible for global warfare eg. Agent Orange, white phospherous incendiary bombs in Vietnam killing thousands, maybe more if we consider the effects lingering for many generations.

It was Putin's missile!
By Pepe Escobar

And here's the spin war verdict: the current Malaysia Airlines tragedy - the second in four months - is "terrorism" perpetrated by "pro-Russian separatists", armed by Russia, and Vladimir Putin is the main culprit. End of story. Anyone who believes otherwise, shut up.

Why? Because the CIA said so. Because Hillary "We came, we saw, he died" Clinton said so. Because batshit crazy Samantha "R2P" Power said so - thundering at the UN, everything duly printed by the neo-con infested Washington Post. [1]

Because Anglo-American corporate media - from CNN to Fox (who tried to buy Time Warner, which owns CNN) - said so. Because the President of the United States (POTUS) said so. And mostly because Kiev had vociferously said so in the first place.

Right off the bat they were all lined up - the invariably hysterical reams of "experts" of the "US intelligence community" literally foaming at their palatial mouths at "evil" Russia and "evil" Putin; intel "experts" who could not identify a convoy of gleaming white Toyotas crossing the Iraqi desert to take Mosul. And yet they have already sentenced they don't need to look any further, instantly solving the MH17 riddle.

It doesn't matter that President Putin has stressed the MH17 tragedy must be investigated objectively. And "objectively" certainly does not mean that fictional "international community" notion construed by Washington - the usual congregation of pliable vassals/patsies.

If Ukraine operates these weapons systems as well, could the pro-Russian separatists have stolen one of them and used it?
Partially right. They tried from some time to improve their anti-air arsenal since the rebels main losses came from air hits, shellings bombings and so on. Now if they got parts of that missile system or a entire one, who the fuck knows, anything is possible. But ukraineans did it. Common sense. Personally im almost sure of it.

ps: the rebels got light support from Russians as i know. No way missiles and shit like that. It was an incident created by Ukraine because recently they foulishly started an open conflict with russians and from there their fate was sealed. What will happen, remains to be seen, but from this point on i can say not even concrete proofs would make me belief otherwise.

ps2: american media is pure shit. The truth? about this event? can be found, who the fuck knows where, maybe in another galaxy but not on cnn....
Why would Ukraine shoot down the airliner? They know the rebels don't have aircraft capability. Why would the Ukrainians shoot themselves in the foot when they are winning against the rebels?
Perhaps they thought it was a Russian aircraft? Or perhaps they did it deliberately and figured the West would blame the separatists and Russia.
What makes u believe they are winning something over there? U think everything got at this point cause of an armed conflict? No, the main cause here lies in other things but end up fighting. Kiev went all in with that terrorist crap even from beginning because they knew what they're are facing there. Actually what they cant face. it's complicated. Russia has their interests in the area and whatever u look at it, this is a major - for Ukraine.
617  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Malaysia Airlines MH17 Crash: Boeing 777 Crashed in Ukraine Near Russian Border on: July 21, 2014, 02:02:26 PM
The thing is, The U.S., along with Russia, signed a treaty with Ukraine that stipulates that if they give up their nuclear weapons arsenal both the U.S. and Russia would protect Ukraine's territorial integrity. That went out the window when Russia literally took Crimea by force and how Russia is now supporting separatists in the Donetsk region.
