I'm still not sure how I can know which samsung mem chips I can use the custom strap timing posted recently in this thread for (or more specifically which samsung mem chips i CANNOT use the strap for).
It was said to be used for K4G4, and old 8gb ref cards.
I've looked in Polaris bios editor and noticed on 2 different cards of mine, both samsung mem, they both start with K4G4 but have different characters after those 4.
Another odd thing I tried before I read here was using the custom strap on my new sapphire 470 4gb nitro (samsung mem) and it seems to be working. Odd thing being the default 1750 strap for this nitro is different from the default 1750 of the older samsung chips that this strap seemed to be said to be designed for.
Overall, how can I tell which samsung mem chips may not be stable with this? (and same for the hynix one recommended here)
You can do the same mods; RRD=5, ACTRD=16, FAW&32AW=0. If you can't understand the offsets, just use my mod tool: https://github.com/nerdralph/strapread/blob/master/strapmod.pyThanks how do I run this in Windows? I'm assuming I just enter in like the default 1500 or 1750 strap and this mods it as an output text?

The strap works on both versions, the only diff is it will be more stable on 4G version. Thanks, maybe I wasn't clear though. I understand it is supposed to work on both versions, my question is about newer gpus with "different samsung chips" like it seems my nitro has a different samsung chip but may still be compatible

I use ethermine.org and my reported hashrate (claymore miner) is usually 10-15% higher than my average hashrate (for each rig). Is this standard for everyone using this pool and for other pools?

My A900 had issues mining at nicehash. It would go good for 12-48hours or so and then 1 of the mining units in it would stop and go to 0mhs in the dashboard. The other would still show ~450mhs but it would show 0 activity in the live graph and my nicehash address would show there wasn't any mining. I'd have to go the the miner and restart it (and actually before restarting the blue light was flashing like when it starts up). This happened a handful of times
I switched to only mining at a x11 dash pool and its been fine since!

Hello I am thinking of building a rig with Asus Dual-RX480 White.
It is a 4gb model with 7000 MHz effective vram.
Does anyone know if it is a reliable card?
Is it good for mining eth & does it benefit from custom bios?
It seems alright, mine has hynix ram. Yes it benefits from a custom bios just copy the 1500 timings to the higher ones

Sorry, i'm new in this of the claymore miner. What's the most profitable coin to dual mining? ether plus what? I don't care about electricity bill, i live on a country that electricity its almost gifted. Which is the best coin to dual mine with amd and which is the best for nvidia? Today i just have a 1060 3gb, but i have a rx 470 4gb coming. Can someone help me introduce? lol Oh, and i need the 372.54 drivers for nvidia or use the latest given by geforce experience? same question for amd
Eth+Dcr seems good for amd. And I recommend 16.9.2 driver for amd

I calculated this morning that about a -dcri of 55 has the highest profitability of both eth+dcr (default eth intensity). Now is anyone mining only DCR with a DCR miner? which miner?
EDIT: calculated 45 as optimal later in the day with a different rig

Are there any publicly available custom memory strap timings for the rx 400 series? (samsung, elpida, or hynix)
Here's the Samsung strap I'm currently working on: 777000000000000022CC1C0010625C49D0571016B50BD50900400700140514207A8900A00300000 0191131399D2C3617 It's the 1750 strap with RRD=5, FAW&32AW=0. It's stable at 2100 on my Sapphire Rx470. The previous custom strap I tried was based on the 1625 strap, and I would start getting a lot of errors over 2000. I just started working on it today, so there's more tweaking to do (like trying a lower tRC for RAS). Nicely done Lets see the final results. Small adjustments to your timing based on my experience : 777000000000000022CC1C00CE615C45C0571016B30CD50900400700140514207A8900A00300000 0151031399D2C3617 Thanks! Nice improvement over the regular 1750 strap. Now the question is... will this 1750 samsung strap work with 480s with samsung (and then both 4gb and 8gb?) If you have one of the first 4G samsung batches, it will work and even improve even more. (because you can unlock those to 8G) If you have a newer batch of those 4G samsung's, it will most probably run but won't run stable. Greetings Why won't it be stable? Would this only be stable for reference cards? Different chips, but both Samsung. Is there a way to know if the chips are different? I'm looking in Polaris Bios Editor and I see my old samsung chips are K4G8 while new ones are K4G4.. device id seems the same with them 0x91

Just got my SRR yesterday and setting it up now. thanks!

If you already bios modded copying the 1750 strap to the higher ones, the only thing that seems missing is overclocking your ram to 2000-2100 with samsung

Is eth-pasc the highest return combo presently ?
I'm doing eth+dcr which the last time I calculated was slightly more profitable

I saw mention of PICO in this thread, something about it is a type of PSU or something that connects to PSU and motherboard? Will someone explain this a bit more?

I prefer Win10 over Simple Mining OS. However if your gpu is already bios modded, especially a bios mod with undervolt, then simpleminingos may be prefered as it seems easier to set up and maintain (although may have slightly lower hashrates than windows).
I prefer WattTool over all the other overclocking/undervolting tools for windows.
With wattTool you can directly set the voltages or use and offset (or both). I prefer directly setting the voltages.

Guys how about roms for 470 4gb cards?
I am looking for sapphire nitro and msi more specifically.
Should I just do it with Polaris bios editor?
Is there a guide for that?
Also will those timming make the cards unstable for mining other coins like ZEC?
Mining other coins with the modded bios should be fine (at least was for me). Yeah there are guides and its worth it and easy enough imo. Basically use GPUz to extract the gpu bios and open it with polaris bios editor... if you have hynix or elpida mem copy the 1500 straps to the higher ones (1500 to 1625, 1750, 1900, 2000). if you have samsung mem, you can copy the 1750 (or maybe even 1625?) to the higher ones. use atiflash to flash the cards in CMD admin mode
