So what's the benefit of such acts by Nigerian government I don't understand it.
They want to protect the national currency against bitcoin adoption which theoretically will drive fiat to more devaluation and consequently the country's official economy.
Anyway the government there is fool, because they are unable to see bitcoin increases their citizens purchasing power, different from their local currency which only makes everyone poorer.

Are you going to continue your bankroll investment test in another crypto currency casino from now on since YoloDice is over, or is it the end of the experiment?
6003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Failed as Money? on: March 05, 2021, 06:10:51 PM
Not yet. Give bitcoin a little more time. Just a little more.

Do you have inside information that something will be changed in the Bitcoin protocol so that it will be much more scalable or did you just not read my opening post?  Wink
As technology is developed new ideas and possible protocol upgrades will appear futurely. At some point fees will decrease and we will be able to make micro transactions with bitcoin paying fair fees.

But so far, the main issue in my opinion is that the stores and services we need for daily purchases don't accept bitcoin as payment, that is why bitcoin has been failing as money, although it's not entirely its fault.

I would like to pay for electricity, water services and supermarket products with btc, but it's not possible. If it were, even the currently high fees would be acceptable, as I could buy many things in a bunch, saving on fees. And bitcoin could be used as money this way if adoption from sellers increased.

6005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What games are best suitable for PvP gambling? on: March 05, 2021, 06:23:14 AM
Why are people thinking about Dota 2?

While there are a lot of people playing it, it is still not that balanced. There are still a lot of heroes that could dominate the game and I think that could not be always controlled since it is a MOBA, it is a fighting game and that also means that it would not always be balanced. I don't think it would be the best PvP that we have, but its what we have right now.

Exactly. Good picks and counterpicks can decide the game. You can have better players and simply be outpicked at the beginning and you'll lose the round. That's why at top level events they usually play best of 5, but in normal casino scenario nobody is going to play for 5 hours straight to get the reward. Casino games have to be pretty easy and fast. They need a los skill entry point, so that a newbie can understand the rules fast and they need a fast paced matching system. Dota sucks in this because team picking phase alone can take 10 minutes.

Is there really need some comparison on those e-sports tournaments compared into those typical pvp gambling games like poker, blackjack or similar games?

When we do talk or point out their differences in terms of time spent then it is really noticeable.Neither of those games will be chosen then people would really be
aware on the time or duration.

Lots of PvP games out there it does matter on peoples interest.
It's really not possible to compare esports to gambling table games. Esports should be compared to sports at least, as all of them last for a long time before the final result. Someone betting on a soccer match or a Dota best of 5 will have to be aware the game won't be decided in 10 minutes or less, like a table cards game.
And well, if there are people betting in elections and sports championships in general which take several weeks or months to be decided, I think esports pvp match's duration won't be a negative point for this sub-category in gambling industry.
6006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin investment is limited on: March 04, 2021, 10:10:14 PM
Blind people can read through the Braille writing system and they also can hear if they are not deaf. Bitcoin has one method to back up their private key or mnemonic seeds to metal sheets and it can be used for the blind.

The barrier is how companies can build up those products for the blind but still can give them privacy and safety for their private key/ mnemonic seeds. For the blinds, I think mnemonic seeds are best for them.

Yes, Braille system is already used on several traditional banks ATMs, but my perception is that most blind people still need human guidance when doing bank transactions because they weren't educated in Braille system since they were younger. It's something that changes slowly as education plays a bigger role in disabled people's lives within the new generations. For this reason I expect blind people won't have issues when dealing with crypto in the future.

Another good idea as mentioned are the voice commands, however they still need a lot of improvements in technology and artificial intelligence to make it possible to have a safe and smooth experience, especially because we are talking about personal finances.
6007  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech companies no longer "friends" on: March 04, 2021, 07:49:48 PM
Apart from Facebooks try with Libra, is there anyway they could start competing on the blockchain world? My take is that they should.
No, because their crypto currencies would be centralized ones. They couldn't compete with bitcoin, ethereum and so many other decentralized altcoins.
Libra (now called Diem) is a good example of how this competition isn't going to happen. It will be a stable coin like many others which already exist and are even more trustful in my opinion, moreover investors are looking for speculative crypto currencies which they can make profit by holding and trading. It's not the case of these big corporations' crypto currencies.

Actually if I wanted to associate myself to any of these corporations you mentioned I would buy their stocks rather than their crypto currencies.
6008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you ever lost a bet in this way? on: March 04, 2021, 05:33:01 PM
I used to gamble in a different way till we got introduced with a feature called "Cashout" which wasn't there for few years on crypto gambling sites. Now, whenever you make bets, not some average or tipped ones but high confidence bets, you see that you've already won and the odds that you placed your bet on (which could be higher than, let's say 1.50x) and it has dropped to 1.01x, will you use your "Cashout" feature and leave / lose a few % of profit just because you fear that the game can still change? Or you'll just go with the flow and let the game run, and you'll wait till the end to get complete profit?
This feature is similar to the one offered at IQ options sites, so you can *short* a bet to finish it instantly with a lower profit or a lower loss, depending the situation.
To know if asking for cashout is a good idea you need to analyze the game and how your team is behaving. If the game is hard for them and the rival is putting a lot of pressure, it may be a good idea to cashout, but if your team is controlling the match I see no reason to do this.

Now, my main question,
What if you didn't cashout your potential winnings and then suddenly, the game changes and let's say that you placed a bet on a Soccer match between Team A and B and you believe that Team A will be the winner (based on less odds and past performances), the score is 1-0 and time is 89 minutes. Now, if Team B manages to score one goal at the last minute and set the score to 1-1, won't you regret that you were so close that you must've cashed out your bet, but lost big due to that last minute goal? This happened to me a few times and I bet it may also have happened with many of you. So, have you ever lost a bet in this way?
It can always happen in gambling and you must be prepared for it without regrets, after all it's an unpredictable event. Situations like this will happen sooner or later if you are an active gambler, but you can minimize the chances of losing this way if you do what I said above. Sometimes I can see the team is very anxious and nervous, commiting obvious mistakes. When this happens there is a high chance the another team will goal them by the end of the match.
6009  Economy / Economics / Re: Why should i invest in bitcoin or other cryptos ? on: March 04, 2021, 03:08:11 AM
Nowadays the potential of profits when investing in bitcoin is higher than when buying a piece land. Furthermore, to make profit with your land you would still need a big investment besides buying it to turn it into a profitable activity and a lot of personal effort.

With bitcoin it's different. You just buy the amount of coins you wish, it can be a big or a small investment, and wait until they increase in price.

However I'm not saying to buy a land is a bad investment. Actually it's a very safe and desired one, but the point is that it's not so simple and cheap like buying bitcoins and other crypto. If you have financial conditions just go for both options: crypto currencies and lands.
6010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: New Government Rules Mean No More Gambling Sponsorship on: March 03, 2021, 09:52:54 PM
I who live in a country where gambling is completely prohibited (only federal and other authorized lotteries are allowed) tell you:

Any kind of prohibition only increases clandestine gamblings and ends up leading people to bet in the wrong way, often losing their money in fraudulent games.
I see this proposal for a ban as something very poorly planned and that willn't bring any benefit.
Yes, probably it happens in every countries where gambling is illegal. I see two reasons why there isn't any kind of will from authorities to regulate it:

  • In religious countries donations from rich guys go to churches and similar organizations and by donating these rich guys have discounts on their income tax annualy, plus laudering money meanwhile. Since gambling is allowed, a large part of these donations funds would go to gambling instead of donations;
  • Corrupt authorities profit from illegal gambling, as they charge payments from these illegal operations to turn a blind eye to their businesses. If gambling were legal, some corrupt agents would lose a big source of profit.

Thank you for all your replies. I believe this thread isn't only useful to me, but also for many others who are on the same situation, following this thread closely day by day in search for a way to boost their daily finances.

Just explaining some points that could have been misunderstood:

  • This thread isn't asking for passive income, big investment or risky activities, what means it doesn't include mining operation, gambling or trading;
  • With avoiding competition I mean jobs or tasks which someone can start right after signing up on a site, without the need of waiting weeks or months to be hired.

So far by reading all comments I see it's really hard to find offers on the internet nowadays for skilled and unskilled workers. I think some years ago there was more demand as it was mentioned by some people the faucets and mrai captchas, which paid more decently than captcha entries now (0,5$ in btc for 1000 captchas). Furthermore there were signature campaigns without participant limits.

Actually the most interesting method that could be practiced by everyone without restrictions are the sites listed by @TedMosby (micro jobs), although I'm not sure if there is enough demand to make it sustainable. I worked on sites like this before (crowdflower) and made some money, but then they put tricky tasks disponible, with dubious results, reducing my accuracy. I don't know if they do that on purpose, but it's very disappointing.

The Publish0x idea is also nice, but I discourage copying and pasting part of other articles and if you write articles on your own probably 2$-3$ isn't compatible with this task.

There is also the weworkremotely idea by @malevolent, where there are many offers. This one seems good for professional workers disposed to work in direct contact with the public (charismatic individuals).

But thanks again everyone. As ideas are surging all the time, feel free to keep contributing to the community.

6012  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think about borrowing against your bitcoin? on: March 03, 2021, 05:37:45 PM
I completely agree with all users who spoke negatively about a loan for investing in Bitcoin, but at the same time, if we are talking about an experienced investor who has sufficient knowledge, it may well be profitable to invest the money received from the loan. Almost the end of 2020, as well as the beginning of 2021, provided quite extensive opportunities for profitable investments, including even such cryptocurrencies that showed lightning-fast, but short-term jumps in price, such as AME, DOT, Dogecoin....
It's totally like gambling. Professional investors can't predict the market and they will be in serious risks of loss if bitcoin suffers a temporary devaluation. Bitcoin is good on long run, but it should never be put as guarantee for something on short-medium run. The traditional  holding strategy is still the most efficient in crypto universe and if you want to risk yourself a little more you can also invest your coins to earn passive income, but borrowing against your btcs is insanity.

~ The main attraction of tokens for me is the wheel of fortune, I have been a member of freebitco.in since 2017, in fact it was the first site where I met Bitcoin.

I think that the benefits after 1 year of hodler the tokens should go further, I do not know if freebit.co has any other plan for the token holders, but from what little I have seen in another platform have the tokens of the same platform generates daily interest, maybe Freebitco.in will go much further. The only thing is that I have not had luck in the draws, I have seen cases that 1 player bought only 1 ticket and won ...

After reading your post I bought 1 FunFair token right away. Can you please elaborate, what draws are you referring to? Do we have a chance of winning something, holding just 1 FunFair token? I didn't know about that.

As of right now, FunFair is up 10% in the last 24 hours. Who knows where it goes next? Smiley
Minimum amount to hold is 2500 FUN coins. But there are extra benefits for holding 5000; 12,500; 50,000; 125,000; 250,000 and 500,000 FUN coins, respectively.
Also make sure to check for how long you need to hold your coins to have access to the bonus (1 month, 3 month, 6 month and 12 month periods).

6014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Many people think that Bitcoin is not a currency with practical uses on: March 03, 2021, 04:16:38 PM
It doesn't have practical uses because most things we have to pay daily can't be paid through bitcoin yet. I would love to pay electricity and water taxes or pay for food with bitcoin, but it's not possible. Bitcoin as a mean of payment is still something eccentric disponible in few stores, most of them virtual ones which don't sell necessity goods.
For people living from online income and from poor countries where fiat worths nothing bitcoin would be an excellent daily life currency.
6015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lowering the electricity bill by mining cryptocurrency on: March 02, 2021, 11:46:50 PM
Interesting idea, but keeping your ASICs heat won't damage them faster?
I thought mining operation should work at low temperatures to not let the equipment temperature increase too much. If you keep the temperature higher on purpose to heat the house and water it will have consequences on your equipment it seems.
6016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling as a profession: there's people who live out of gambling? on: March 02, 2021, 10:39:30 PM
but what are your opinions on the matter of sports betting?
any skill involved?
to me feels like it's simpy pure luck, but I'm not the biggest sports connoisseur

No, luck is a part of the game. But you can minimize luck especially when it come to sports betting. There is a reason why people (even they are less) living from sports betting. They have a good knowledge and access to (mostly paid) statistics which help them to have an advance.

If you are good at analysing the matches you can always find a way to keep up with the sportsbooks, more years go by and you evolve, but sometimes when a bad streak strikes better to lower down the bet size and not to chase those losses.

still it's really dependent on luck, in my point of view.
wouldn't try to do it for a living, too risky... don't you think?
Yes, that is a very high risk to take, especially because you are relying on others skills and mindset to make profit. We never know for real how the players of a team are feeling physically and psychologically during a match, so everything can happens and someone's financial life shouldn't depend on that.
For this reason I think people who live from gambling probably rely more on their own skills, playing at cards games like Gin Rummy where they are on the control of the situation.
6017  Other / Off-topic / Re: Corruption and Sports on: March 02, 2021, 08:17:48 PM
That's the dark side of gambling in some countries which is really unfair even if you check it in every angle or situations.

Gambling is sometimes involved in a syndication which makes rich people become more rich and poor people becomes more poor.

That's the reason why people are not engaging in gambling depending on places where these things are common to exist. Governments doesn't care about other people's bets and they are only focusing about economic growth and their own profits. Let's accept the fact that these things are existing and we have nothing to do with this but to avoid it.
Just one example from where I live: here gambling is forbidden, but government's lottery is allowed and valid for the whole country compete against themselves, so the prizes are huge when they accumulate.
But among so many different gamblers, curiously there are few people who are well known for winning dozens of time on the lottery, including a former congressman who won 12 times within a 1 year period. Facts like this make me stay away from this national gambling. I believe crypto casinos are much more transparent and legit than my national lottery.
6018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can / cannot replace the banks ? on: March 02, 2021, 06:18:31 PM
Before bitcoin replace banks, banks are going to adopt bitcoin to not be replaced.

I believe at this point no one denies crypto currency is the future of finances and it's inevitable bitcoin will lead this adoption, as btc is the first and the original source of all crypto currencies.

We have already some crypto sites which replace banks with efficiency: they offer loans, they pay interest over saving accounts, they offer debit/credit cards. Traditional banks will have to follow this adoption to stay competitive in the market.
6019  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: March 02, 2021, 05:25:31 PM
What's the point of this? I don't think it's a good idea to advertise Fun Token without pointing out Freebitcoin, the site is already full of unambiguous mentions of Fun including information contained in emails. As far as payment is concerned, this, by and large, also does not make sense, since 60 additional coin hodlers will not affect trading volumes in any way, (unless, of course, you meant saving on transactions, although even here I would prefer LN over Fun).
As I understood the main potential of this token isn't trading, but benefits in Freebitco.in site for investors and gamblers such as extra interest, dice rakeback and free daily prizes at wheel of fortune, focusing on long run holders, as you need to keep the tokens for at least 1 year to start receiving the benefits entirely. But for non-members of Freebitco.in there must be another interesting tokens to hold instead.
6020  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People die from heart attack when they hit the jackpot. on: March 02, 2021, 04:52:47 PM
those with weak hearts will definitely have the desire to win the lottery too...
the best thing to do is that the family forbids that person from placing the lottery. having a heart attack due to the lottery is unfortunate, excessive emotions are the cause of a person having heart attacks and strokes.
I can already see governments creating new rules to forbid people with heart diseases from playing on the lottery, saying it's for their own good.
With so many restrictions towards gambling everywhere I don't doubt something like this become real.

The point is that these people are desperate for money for some reason that when they hit the jackpot they can't hold on the emotions. The reasons which cause exaggerated emotions should be investigated, because the heart disease is never the cause, but the consequence of some other issue in the body or in the soul.
