Escrow? If so, I'm in How would the escrow work in this case? You submit your logo, he says he doesn't like it, BTC return to him from escrow, he uses the logo anyways. Same risk as without an escrow. Escrow holds money. I will send the user a copyrighted Logo or whatever. If he likes it I will send the escrow guy the normal picture without copyright watermarks. Escrow releases money. I know how escrow works. But in this scenario copyright + watermarks are the only protection. Escrow is pointless and doesn't make any difference in this case.

They started to accept BTC in August and raised BTC237 in the first week, which was pretty good result.

In English, saying "x bitcoins" for any non-1 decimally-represented value is the correct usage. You could also say "half a bitcoin", "a quarter bitcoin", etc. but for 2, 0.5, 0.1, 0.52423, etc. it's "bitcoins" That doesn't sound right. I'd always use singular for fractions less than one. 0.4 apple - singular, as it's shorter version of "four tenth of an apple" not apple sAint nobody carez for your rulez!

I did some experimenting with freebitco.in new 'Advertise' feature and have mixed feelings. I created and tested few banner ads, my stats for the best of them are: Views: 13,703 Clicks: 43 Total cost: BTC0.00904398. They charge for views not for clicks, so basically I've got: 1 click for every 319 views and cost per click of BTC0.00021Didn't manage to convert it to profit, but didn't really expect to, since it's a small, experimental run. I don't have much experience in advertising, so my question is: Are the above results good/poor/average? What are your opinions on freebitco.in as advertising tool? I like how easy it is to set up and manage a campaign, but I'm bit concerned about the quality of their audience. Since most of them are looking to get tiny amounts from faucet, their not likely to be holding/operating with reasonable amounts of bitcoin, which doesn't really make them 'valuable customers'. Is it worth it? Are there any better alternatives (working in a similar way)? EDIT: Banner used: (image ref linked)

Op are you really interested in mining cryptocurrencies with Toeaster or Freezer? It seems illogical and really waste of potential even if you could make it work. You will be better with one ASIC than dozens of Toasters.
Don't see it work for toasters and freezers, but it could be possible for an electric air heaters. Instead of classic heating mechanism, you could use optimised/integrated ASICs to provide the heat. The only question is power consumption, if it's significantly higher than for classic heater, then it's pointless.

But what is gold backed by?
By general consensus that gold is precious and valuable?

Backed by something also means the currency is centralized by the backer's ability to honor commitment to redeem the currency for an underlying asset. As far as I know no decentralized mechanism of redemption exists, please someone correct me if I am wrong. What can give Bitcoin and other crypto currencies value is demand for use cases. The more use cases - the higher the demand and the price.
It's probably possible to set a decentralised 'backing' if it relates to other intangible/digital asset. Yes, backing bitcoin with physical goods would require trust (to the 'backer') but that won't necessarily make bitcoin centralised. Anyone can really back bitcoin with anything. For example, I can publically promise/oblige myself (making formal signed off statement, with all my details etc) to exchange 1 paperclip for 1 bitcoin. Each full bitcoin would be officially backed with one paperclip (as long as I'm alive), but that won't make it centralised. It won't make any difference whatsoever, other than no one could say that "bitcoin has no intrinsic value" anymore.

It's pretty easy: "two bitcoins" plural. The same rule as saying "I've got two coins" not "two coin"

OK, got bit confused here regarding commission/referral payments.
Long story short - is it the same (or similar) system PRCdice have? You take commission on every bet (win or lose) and share a % of that commission with referrer?
As I understand it: * they take commission on every bet, of 10% of the house edge (and automatically invest it on their own account) * they pay affiliates 10% of (the house edge or 1%, whichever is smaller) (and automatically invest it in the affiliate's account) So for regular bets, with a house edge of 1% or less, they give 100% of the commission to the affiliate. OK, cool. Thanks for replying. Sounds like good deal for affiliates (maybe except for the fraction-of-satoshi-rounded-to-zero thing). Although, think it'd be better if op was getting his cut of the commission from every bet, creating more sustainable model etc. @SafeDice, it's a long shot, but do you have any promo banners by any chance? Ideally 468*60px or similar. No worries if not.

Are you ready for #BitcoinGivingTuesday? December 2nd! http://www.bitcoingivingtuesday.org/It's the first annual Bitcoin Giving Tuesday! Support our campaign for nonprofit charity Medic Mobile - providing cell phones to health workers in third world countries - saving lives through technology! Other well-known charities are now accepting Bitcoin, including Save the Children, American Red Cross, United Way, The Water Project, and more! Happy Bitcoin Holidays! Connie Gallippi Founder & Executive Director BitGive Foundation www.bitgivefoundation.org So it's today. Nearly forgot. Sent some small donation, hope that helps. It would be useful if the website for bitcoin giving Tuesday had a donation link/address. It only has 'Join the movement' button which asks for the name/email. So I just went to official BitGive website and donated to: 1PEoUKNxTZsc5rFSQvQjeTVwDE9vEDCRWm

The child was born thanks to a frozen embryo transfer cycle paid for with bitcoins. Lee says it’s the first time he’s aware of that anyone has paid for fertility treatments that way. That's slightly different. Still may be the first birth paid for in bitcoins, which doesn't sound that specular as most births are free (public hospitals). Anyhow, good to see a wider adoption of BTC.

Think we need to fix the sigs. They're bit messed up in Opera browser (for every rank). In firefox, senior sigs don't look as they should. All looks fine in IE. Not sure about other browsers.

I've been working with someone to bring something amazing out for Dogecoin. We just finished stage 1! It's looking promising We're excited!!! Great...what kind of vague details can you offer at this point? Well I'll tell you that it's a form of cold storage. Paper wallet or made of precious metals? (If made of Sterling or .999 silver, you may have a buyer right over here ) Unfortunately its not made of precious metal. Costs would have been too high. Should the design be successful and should there be enough demand for a precious metal version then we will consider it, As of now, we have only finished stage 1. We have 100 or so numbered samples (these were meant to be the real thing but we had some issues with the design). We may decide to make a small alteration as well as go for 24 carat gold plating. It shouldn't be long now though I sell .999+ silver shot @ market price if you need. It really isn't that bad sending it off to a mint to be made into bars or whatever. Lol BAC, is there anything you don't sell? On the subject, I would strongly prefer solid silver wallet (or anything) than gold-plated, which I always perceived as bit cheap or fake. Just my opinion though. Silver is not that expensive but it's still a precious metal and, if it's solid, it works as store of value (even if it's a small value).

A quick follow up. According to bitcoin.pl, one couple have chosen that hospital (Medicover, Warsaw) for the birth of their child and they'll be paying for the service with bitcoins. So probably it's the first case like this in history. It was presented as a 'news flash' not a full article, so cannot provide a link.
