I see people are asking for collapse of CEX like Binance but they are bullish on decentralization?
I mean collapse of the biggest exchange will fuck all of us either be BTC or ETH.

Just wanna know your perspective on this. An exchange of a size like Binance dies, what do you expect BTC price to be?

My pick for a fail is KuCoin

What do you hear?

That 19% of their assets are in KuCoin Shares. It's the similar story to Crypto.com holding 20% of their assets in SHIB. It's reminiscent of FTX's high holding (or not holding) of FTT token. The latter claim it's because all assets are held 1:1 and therefore that's why they hold so much meme coin. In reality, the same argument could go for KCS.  So in of itself, the FUD doesn't mean much, as long as the assets are held 1:1, those holdings could go to 0 and they'd still be backed 1:1. The only real question is whether they would be using those holdings (customer or exchange holdings) as collateral... as FTX did.

they listed top 5 holdings. about 2.5 billion.

and 500 million = their kcs
only 344 million = btc
and 220 million = eth

along with about 1.5 billion in usdt and usdc

they did not clarify how much eth was staked vs movable.

if they get a strong run they will be hurting.  but they are small tops 5 coins are 2.5 billion they could get a bailout. behind the scenes. we will know soon enough.

Sometimes people have to take the L to learn their lesson. No matter how many times the banner gets shown even as a popup, there are those that can't resist the APR or free money by parking their funds at a website they deem "safe".

I was one of those people. The motto never etched in my mindset until that one incident that hit me like a truck, albeit I didn't deposit my entire BTC there. Now my BTC goes straight into the Ledger.

Yeah I was lucky 45% of my funds were on coinbase.

The rest 55% is on core wallet and trezor.

Now it is more like 6% of my funds are on coinbase. the rest on trezor and core  wallet.

I have to have some funds on coinbase for business. But not 45% of them.

Binance and coinbase failing this year would mean lots of cheap corn.

Under 1k would be possible.

Likely not to happen.

If a person checks the box that he has read all the rules and warnings of the forum, everything that happens to him in the future lies entirely on his shoulders. Of course, it is difficult for a beginner to learn this rule from the first steps, but if the forum is "mother," then it is convenient to teach such warnings with mother's milk.

This is a welcome addition to what the OP requested, but merely checking the box indicating that one has read the forum rules does not guarantee that one has actually done so. They can be in a haste or a hurry to get right into the forum's main activity without fully comprehending the rules. This is similar to fast searching for information online and being asked to select a box to proceed; one will quickly check the box without carefully reading what it actually means until they later find a mistake or some restrictions that they didn't expect to see.

Since a beginner cannot learn it from the very beginning, it is still likely that they will become a victim of this while they are still learning. The forum can only provide a disclaimer regarding it; nonetheless, the forum lacks the ability to control it completely in order to prevent people from engaging in such action.

I have a wild suggestion i don't know how it might sound. How about soliciting to all campaigns on the forum to have it added to their avatar design that way it will capture the attention of forum users  and newbies as it will be seen on regular base so long the user visits the forum.

Good concept, but not every forum user wears a campaign signature. Even if they have the necessary qualifications to join a campaign, some people are only here to learn and share knowledge. I simply hope they can display it without asking them for it. However, it is still reasonable for individuals who wear campaign adverts to showcase it. The finest idea so far is to have it shown in several parts throughout the forum.

I could try to add theymos warning to my signature.

Edit :

I changed signature again

A direct link to theymos post. So with over 40000 posts by me it will let people see it in a lot of places.

I encourage any one that is not doing a paid signature to do that.

Got an improved signature with theymos link. took me time to design and code something simple but I hope good.

ETH is going to fail. It is a dead man walking. The only thing saving it is the sating is frozen and zero profit come out of the staked coins at the moment.

Eth will likely hold price as the big boys slowly sell it off. Most won't realize that scam until the stake coins are unlocked in late 2023 or even 2024.
Are you saying that unstaking is impossible?
According to statistics, there are not very many coins in staking, it is 12 percent. If there were 50% of the coins in staking, then I would be afraid of massive sales after unstaking.

A staked coin is frozen at the moment. So it is stuck. I suppose If I had a fullly staked node I could sell it off.

I have under 1 coin staked at coinbase. For all intents and purposes it cant by unlocked.

I would not sell my entire coinbase acccount to someone. Even if it only had 300 usd worth of eth. Selling the account would mean the buyer gets my kyc.

I have a simple question how long before eth unlocks the staked earnings. as of today noone knows that answer. maybe 2023 maybe 2024 .
coinbase doesn't give other tokens in return like Lido Staked Ether?
I was not interested in staking due to the fact that mining gives much more profit and there is no risk of losing money on the exchange.
Can you spend your staking profits?

Nope. I did 300 usd at the time eth was 1500 a coin. It gets 4%  so since eth dropped in price it is worth well under $300 even with the 4% interest. It will be frozen for at least 2023. It is well under 1% of my mining gear.

the
LTC/DOGE
BTC
Grin
KDA
Gpu
gear ain't worth much as it was. It is paid off and still turns a profit just not much of one.

We were over 30k a month we are well under 10k.

and it is a 4 way split.
6027  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 18, 2022, 01:04:21 AM
well do we top 17k or what?
6028  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: newbie question- goal is 1 bitcoin in 1 year on: November 17, 2022, 11:54:59 PM
you can't mine eth.

and btc is loud gear.

do you have 240 volt power?

if you do and your energy cost is zero.

buying some s19's means 2000 a unit. total 4k

So say 2 of them cost you 4k they will earn 95+95=190

190 x .06 = $11.40 a day or 365 x 11.40 = 4161. so not counting power you will be $161 ahead.

frankly offer to do a chore for your parents and use the cash they pay you to buy some pieces of a coin.

6030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone mining on RTX4090 already on: November 17, 2022, 03:54:12 PM
To all crypto miners who still believe in gpu mining is there anyone using RTX4090 already for mining? What hashrate are you getting off the graphic card and which coin is the most friendly for mining on the RTX4090, also I need information on watt consumption and heat, this is urgent, I will drop more information later.
Is this information not enough for you?
https://whattomine.com/gpus/79-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090?cost=0.1&cost_currency=USD
Maybe you can get a little better power consumption, but this video card has the same problems as the RTX 3090. And then you will have the dilemma: making expensive cooling or opening warranty seals and changing thermal pads with thermal paste.

you know my 3090ti cards have cool memory numbers I have 4 from evga all of them have ram in the 76-86c range with 300- 305 watts

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=24G-P5-4983-KR

look at the two 3090ti in open air rig below

I understand that you have chosen good video cards with a good cooling system, but not everyone is so lucky.
My colleagues have problems with these graphics cards and have been forced to deal with overheating issues. I have a lot of cheap open cases and don't want to spend money on closed cases or extra ventilation.

Good point. First - all cards with gddr6x need attention, some early some later. This are extra costs, lose in warranty and so on. No good deal in my opinion, but i don´t know how good the cooling of the new rtx4000 series is, maybe it is better, but i would avoid gddr6x cards for mining, or use it only on core intensive algos.
The point with the cases - i can feel it. In 2017 i build complete rigs for around 1500€ and nowadays, people pay 1000€ for a closed CASE only, many bought cards for the double price, bought pretested china riser for the triple price and than we talk about ROI? (by the way, nearly everyone use ROI in the wrong way)

Prices are crazy. 4080 dropped a day or 2 ago and all grabbed by bots and selling at 2x the price.

here is the best price on ebay by a real seller it will go poof by the end of today

https://www.ebay.com/itm/185659376454?

most other cards are over 2k
6031  Economy / Economics / Re: How much longer until paper money is no longer in circulation? on: November 17, 2022, 03:46:33 PM
There are talks among the world's major central banks to begin the creation of their own digital currencies (Central Bank Digital Currencies for that matter). The launch of Bitcoin, and the widespread popularity of "De-Fi", has led governments to act fast before they're left behind the game. They know they can't beat Bitcoin, so they will try to be in-par with it by launching digital currencies of their own. The average person won't notice any difference with the new digital cash system, as everything would be the same as using a credit/debit card.

I'm beginning to question whenever CBDCs will be able to replace paper money for good, or will it co-exist with the old system? After all, credit/debit cards didn't manage to replace paper money when they launched. For being in the 21st century, I'd say paper money should be phased out as soon as possible. Everything should turn digital, as we live in a digital society.

How long do you think it will take for paper money to be phased out for good? Will CBDCs be able to replace not only paper money but also credit/debit cards? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

I think every one of us will be long dead for no paper money to be in effect.

Here is why:
In order to make it in effect. Every one would need to be hard wired chipped.

The chip would need to be run off your body heat.
The chip would need  to match your DNA.
If you are identical twins triplets etc the chip would need special coding to say which one you are.
The chip would need to be not removable .

I think all of the above will not happen anytime soon.

Minimum 2121 A guess.

I also gives if it does happen DOGE will be the coin for the masses not BTC

BTC will be more exclusive due to its scarcity.
most peoples chips will not be allowed to possess or use it.
6032  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: lowest hashrate that hit a block in the last 3 years on: November 17, 2022, 03:34:28 PM
Earlier this year a Compac-F running 350GHs hit a block on the -ck solo pool. That low enough for you?

IIRC he had about 1.75th worth of them say five sticks.

Pretty good I would say.

Actually, I hit with 9 Compac F sticks attached to a HP Omen PC... Hence the name "TheOmen" but nothing more than a simple Windows PC a few high power hubs and some USB miners. Smiley

My total BTC farm hashpower at that time was between 8.2 - 9.2Th but the system that hit was running 9 Compac F sticks totaling about 3.4-3.6TH.

Thus you are likely the luckiest block hitter in the last 3 years.

To scale the luck my mine has had 1.5ph to 2.0 ph last 3 years and we have not hit a block. we don't mine solo we mine pps and even with 200x the hash for last 3 years no block and about

1.13
1.03
5.00
7.23 coins to his 6.3 or so for the 1 block
6033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The risks of self-custody outweigh the risk of exchanges on: November 16, 2022, 05:47:40 PM
many people are parnoid. and fear their own family getting acess to keys. so they dont just have 1000 copies of keys dotted around the house just in case..

yet then stupidly think its safer to put funds into a custodian where then the user himself does not even have a key to guarantee he can get out his deposit

i completely understand for 100 years people have trusted custodians(fiat banks) and in decent decades had the trust that their deposits are insured by governments even if custodians went bankrupt..

but the cryptosphere of crypto custodians dont operate the same way and dont have the same regulations or even a insurance policy

this is where education needs to come in
teaching people not the "get rich quick" but "if you invest, secure your investment into YOUR control.. because its YOUR property YOUR responsibility. if you hand it to someone else its no longer yours"

All of us need to weigh just how much liquidity we need for our coins.

This will vary quite a bit.

I have multiple wallets and multiple exchanges for multiple reasons.

I am subject to USA law.

This means paying taxes and reporting things to the government.

But it also means FDIC insurance for cash $usd in banks and in coinbase.

SO if I want liquidity and use coinbase I can keep up to $250,000.00 USA cash and it is insured by the Feds.

but if I have 1 btc and coinbase fails tough luck.

Yes I can put a coin in coinbase and convert to usd and the wealth is now safe.

But if I use USD to buy on coinbase I now have a coin that is not safe. So I can pull it off the exchange to a wallet.

Does all of the above sound convoluted and confusing?  Fuck yeah and it is convoluted and confusing.

One simple example I mine say Doge on a pool.  When it is 1000 doge I move it to coinbase. it was not safe on the pool. it was not safe in coinbase .  I make it safe and change it to cash say 85 usd. I decide I want to do a monthly dca to btc for 200 a month. So I buy 200 btc a month from those sales. I then secure the btc in my own wallet

I do this 1 time a week. I create 52 entries when I move the coins to coinbase. I create 52 entries when i turn them to cash. I create 12 entries buying the monthly btc and I create 12 entries when I move the btc to a safe wallet.

AT the end of the year. 85 x 52 = 4420 gross income from doge mining which ends up as 2400 in btc and 2020 in cash  will mean 52+52+12+12 = 128 entries on tax forms.

or just mine and keep all the coins on the pool till late december. then move to coinbase buy some btc and hold the cash which is 4 entries on the tax form.

Really long and complicated example but it is why people let shit sit on an exchange they do not want to do all of the above to keep a mere 4 or 5 grand safe.

If this news is true, then it is a disaster because if the platform behaves in such ignorance with millions of dollars, how will it do with the customers’ money that does not exceed thousands of dollars?
And if it is not real, then it is an attempt to hide the weak financial side of the platform. In any case, it should be avoided
.

so where is the transaction on the eth blockchain?

Btw moving 320k eth to anyone is a big move. I would not do one send I would do 2 or 4 just in case of a glitch.
6037  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 16, 2022, 03:54:30 AM
The King Daddy still remains, and is still thriving. 🕶

yes, true, but, be honest, where is the "alternative financial system" based on bitcoin?
It's possible that just sending coins from point A to point B would suffice (and being a putative 'store of value'), but Satoshi envisioned bitcoin banks, if I recall correctly.

13 years have passed, everyone got scars, but there is no "system", would you agree?

At this point, i am not sure if it would be possible as many were trying and so far nothing major had happened. Maybe soon  Cool.
BTW, it is not the fault of bitcoin itself, just human folly and greed (and infatuation with supposedly more 'advanced' shitcoins).

Plus, we need a mechanism that explicitly prevents fake bitcoin 'printing'. No entity should be able to say that they have bitcoin if they don't have a "physical one", and if not, then, as someone said here (sorry can't recall the name) it is "stonks 2.0".

EDIT: btw, here is an interesting article suggesting that we should increase our bitcoin usage and not only focus on hodling:
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/culture/for-bitcoin-to-be-true-digital-cash

. The governments of the world do not want it yet.

You would need a true internationally regulated set of exchanges to make it work.

And like it or not no one knows if LN network kills off mining or helps mining down the road.

Could be

BTC = big bond 100000 dollar note

LTC/DOGE  = smaller money.

Doge has solved the what happens if rewards vanish
Doge has ever decreasing inflation rate.

100% year 1
  10% year 11
    1% year 101

Just saying that we have an issue with btc that makes fear. rewards are next to nothing in 2060

Next time, I am not waiting even for a new ATH, will probably sell a large % portion earlier (if we ever get there-to my undisclosed current sell target).
It feels silly to sell at 16K, though, so I don't.

You're going to end up really disappointed if you do that.

Well, I already did not sell twice: at 20K in 2017 and 69K in 2021, there would NOT be a 3rd time.
Albeit, I also did not 'mindtrust' at $175 in 2015, $3100 in 2018 and $3800 in 2020.
Part of it is age...waiting for 10 years makes no sense to me.
However, I am not going to sell all...maybe 30-40% or so.

Same here and it might very well be a third. Why on Earth would you sell so much without even a new ATH?

Are you in desperate need of liquid funds or something?

Yes when reading your post I had Mindrust in mind. I almost added "be careful not to do a mindrust" to the end of my post.

Just sell what you need in immediate liquidity and keep the rest until we get anywhere close to final state valuation. We are not anywhere close to that. I mean Bitcoin market cap is only 2x ETH. Just that relative valuation should tell you enough already.

Its easy to talk about what to sell but anyone over 50 years old with 100+ coins needs to think hard about what to do. Especially if they missed the 69k number and did not hedge some at that point..

Most people over 50 will be hard pressed to add 100 coins to their stash as it is 1.7 million at the moment.

Also If you do have 100 coins and they cost you 4k each selling off 5 is not a hard choice.

but if you have 15 coins and they cost you 8k each selling off 5 is a hard choice.

I am not in either spot I dumped most of my holdings this year.

Sank too much into the solar panels and the gear.

NVIDIA has problems with video card sales and their marketers don't know what to do to increase video card sales.

NVIDIA RTX 4080 12GB now to be called RTX 4070 Ti
As expected, NVIDIA is changing the name of the ‘unlaunched’ GPU.
https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-ti-to-replace-canceled-rtx-4080-12gb-sku-launch-in-janaury

Of course they are going to have problems,Ethereum going to PoS killed their sales and will continue to do so until we have another coin which will substitute the Ethereum and be as good as Ethereum in mining rewards in order for them to recover their sales. That LHR bullshit that they came up with so to say that we are pleasing the gamers was just done to shut some of the gamers up but they knew very well that their main market and earnings which were huge by the way in 2021 is exactly because of mining. I don't feel sorry for them the slightest.

I feel sorry for Mr. V.B. he has a long list of enemies by now.

I don't feel sorry for him either,I am waiting not that patiently to see his so famous ETH that has got to green energy PoS fail miserably like many of us have predicted here.Meanwhile as I wait I have got nothing better to do than mine some ETHW and hope for the best for the upcoming crypto bull run, many don't expect it anytime soon but I think it will surprise us all how soon it will be here.

I like that some bull runs deep in your belief.

the POS shitstorms with centralized exchange scam[scam token/scam trading sauce/scam tokens/scam hack] and SEC/governments attacks might bring life and change tide for the old good decentralized mining for the next bull run.

I wonder how come the ETH who moved to PoS is not failing even bigger and that is not going to levels like 150-200 dollars for a coin,I believe the reason is because it is well known in a vast majority of people and also people who mined it and are holding a considerable amount of it do not want it to fail but my advice to them is sell the ETH now while is still over 1000 dollars for a coin otherwise you risk to lose a lot of money because this coin has absolutely no  future and is in the hand of a gang (a bunch of people who can do whatever they like to it).

Hopefully people holding ETH release now that they are in the same situation as holding Bitcoin or other crypto on a centralized exchange because as I said a bunch of people is managing it.
