6041  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-08-05] Bitcoin Morphs Into Unlikely Sanctuary As Market Turmoil Rises on: September 15, 2019, 07:52:54 AM
The peak crypto bubble market cap of $800 billion isn't a good benchmark point. It was inflated that high because of the shitcoins that suddenly had multi billion market caps. Most of these coins have lost between 90-99% of their value because they don't offer any utility. Then we also have stablecoins being weighed in, which if taken away, it would increase Bitcoin's market cap dominance by another 3-4%.

Bitcoin should be the only benchmark point, the rest has no real relevance. Just look at the garbage here; https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/20171218/

Even if we consider the majority of the altcoin market cap as a "bubble", that doesn't hide the fact that the market capitalization of Bitcoin alone was more than 100% higher than the current levels. Apart from that, as you have pointed out, close to 4% of the current market cap is made up of stablecoins and when compared to 2017, there is a large increase in the number of different cryptocurrencies in active usage.
6042  Economy / Economics / Re: Perfect example of why governments must hold Bitcoin on: September 15, 2019, 07:33:01 AM
What Maduro needs is hard cash (in the form of United States Dollars or Euro). If he had Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency instead of gold, I am not sure whether his fortunes would have brightened any further. The sanctions prohibit other countries from purchasing any assets from Zimbabwe and that includes gold and digital assets including Bitcoin.

I'm not sure that Bitcoin could help to Maduro or anyone else. They still need to stick to fiat money and gold. In general, Bitcoin is still too risky because of high volatility and governments can't rely on them. Could you imagine economic or financial system that would depend on Bitcoin? I don't think so.

Maduro should work on a national unity government after reducing the rampant corruption. Bitcoin is not a magic wand that can remove all the troubles in Venezuela overnight. As long as the sanctions and embargoes remain, there is hardly any chance of improvement in the economic situation. And there is not much that Bitcoin can do in this scenario.
6043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If core bitcoin community moved from Bitcointalk to Reddit then.. on: September 15, 2019, 07:07:48 AM
If Bitcointalk is dead because "core bitcoin community moved from Bitcointalk to Reddit" then
who are all these people now having discussions on Bitcointalk? Asking for a friend..

It is impossible to integrate all the functionalities of Bitcointalk to Reddit, including the Merit system, Activity, Ranking.etc. Moving to Reddit means that the old users who have been around for a while will lose their seniority.  The trust system will be in shambles. So I don't think that this is ever going to happen. Individual users or small groups may boycott Bitcointalk and move to Reddit, but the majority is going to stay here.
6044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banking system and BTC on: September 15, 2019, 06:58:33 AM
On the one hand, cryptocurrency should be decentralized, but on the other hand, it shoul be regulated over manipulators and scammers, control over ICOs is required.

In general I used to take a stand against regulation, but the condition of the ICO market is so bad that we don't have any other option. Last year, a single ICO scam (Pincoin) resulted in a loss of more than $660 million for the investors. Arisebank was another major scam, which resulted in a loss of around $600 million. And the current year is not any better. So far the exit scams have caused a loss in excess of $3 billion.
6045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finding the best Altcoins on: September 15, 2019, 06:39:22 AM
I've decided to put more attention on altcoins now when analysis project another big pump in crypto, but which tools/sites do you guys use to do so? I've seen many new coin listing sites and calendars and altcoin projection sites but I never got the feeling like "Waw this site is great". Any suggestions?

I search for low marketcap project which has potentials using either coingecko or coinmarketcap but lately I inclining more towards coingecko because CMC is sometimes taking too long to add new coins.

This is something that I can't recommend. Coinmarketcap adds coins only if they fulfill certain thresholds and criteria. If you are investing in coins or tokens that doesn't fulfill their requirements, then you are taking a big risk and there is a very good chance that you will incur losses in the future. Even in coinmarketcap, you can find dozens of new cryptocurrencies being added every day, and many of them have low volumes. In case you want to invest in the coins outside the top-500 list, then I would recommend such coins (that were recently added to CMC).
6046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reason why only few projects became successful on: September 15, 2019, 06:28:53 AM
All of these developers with experience in other projects have been beginners, I just think it's an exaggeration to think that only veterans can have a good idea and a good project execution.

I would never say that only veterans will be able to create a good cryptocurrency. But at the same time, let me ask you something. Will you be willing to invest in some altcoin, which is being developed by a few college students with no previous experience in this sector? I would avoid such projects, even if they have a good idea and project execution plan. The project may be good... but we need to think about the viability as well. With such a team, will they be able to get the necessary funding?
6047  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Shit Dev not shit coin on: September 15, 2019, 06:21:52 AM
A lot of alarm has been raised on shit coins which have become a concern to many in the crypto sphere, but i feel our attention should be on the shit developer rather talk about the shit coins. The reason why we have shit coins all over is because the number of shit developers has increased to the maximum, i guess it is time to begin to publish the names of shit developers on the forum in order to do some justice to the crypto sphere.

How is this going to be of any use for the ordinary cryptocurrency users? Cryptocurrencies developed by shit developers will obviously be shitcoins. There is no point in differentiating between these two. The only way to avoid shitcoins is to avoid in investing in any currency, whose development is not over. Many of the existing projects have only an idea, but they will be having very elaborate future plans. Avoid this type of coins.
6048  Economy / Economics / Re: What will happen if the all countries convert to cryptocurrency? on: September 15, 2019, 05:40:45 AM
Now that more and more countries are starting to go cashless (http://www.bbc.com/capital/story/20180427-does-a-cashless-society-benefit-everyone), is it possible that we also start converting to cryptocurrency? If that happens, what do you think are the advantages and disadvantages? Paying virtually is very convenient for me as I do not have to bring cash and it prevents petty theft but what is the disadvantage?

The problem is that not too many nations will be able to do this, even if they want to. Bitcoin is having controlled supply. Unlike the case with fiat currencies, the central banks won't be able to print out banknotes without any control. And if the central banks are unable to do this, then the government may face issues in balancing the budget.
6049  Economy / Economics / Re: Average savings across the globe on: September 15, 2019, 05:29:15 AM
I am not sure whether this is a very accurate description, as the purchasing power can very from country to country. A person can retire with $50,000 in rural India, but in Japan even 20 times of that amount may not last for more than one or two decades. So rather than measuring the savings using the same metric, it could have been better to use the purchasing power as the measurement unit.
6050  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 15, 2019, 05:11:42 AM
There must be a reason of why players do not want to visit and play in that country ? Also this is not a decision of a single country but all the countries have together decided this. There must be some issues which only the local people can tell better.

Visiting teams were attacked in Pakistan before, and this is in everyone's mind whenever the PCB requests foreign teams to play their matches in Karachi or Lahore, instead of the usual home grounds (Sharjah, Dubai.etc). A balance needs to be reached between the two aspects. PCB is in bad financial situation due to their inability to host international matches. At the same time, the foreign teams can't be forced to play their matches in Pakistan, unless there is a great deal of improvement in the security situation.
6051  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 15, 2019, 04:56:59 AM
About the Ind vs SA T20? I am waiting for that with all my interest. Will watch the match without missing any balls.
There's another match between Ban vs Afg in Sher-E-Bangla, bad luck that I couldn't get a ticket even though I tried most. Used to get tickets online but this time, they aren't managing this event.

Afghanistan is currently ranked 7th in the ICC Twenty20 Rankings and they need to win this tournament in order to be in the top 8 and thereby directly qualify for the T20 world cup. On the other hand, Bangladesh is currently ranked 10th and they will be trying hard to get included in the top 8. The difference is not much. Afghanistan is currently having 241 points, while Bangladesh is having 220.
6052  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: People are tired of talking about Binance.... on: September 15, 2019, 04:36:33 AM
Especially their former USA clients.  We all went to other exchanges like Coinbase Pro or Kucoin.. Let's just bury the hatchet already and move on.  Can we?  Undecided

And how can you guarantee that the users from the United States will be allowed to these other platforms (Kucoin, Coinbase.etc). The government authorities are tightening the KYC requirements and what happened to Binance will happen to the smaller exchanges as well. Don't think that they will be able to avoid giving in to these requests.
6053  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 15, 2019, 04:21:44 AM
The partnership between Denly and Stokes was the turning point. For the first time in this series so far, the Australian bowlers (including Cummins) were looking quite ordinary. Perhaps they were relaxed after leveling the series. Anyway, now it is going to be extremely difficult for them to win this test as the target is going to be above 400.
6054  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: September 15, 2019, 04:01:50 AM
So, today champions of World Cup will be crowned. What are your thought about final?

This final today is a rematch of the FIBA 2006 finals where on paper, Argentina has the edge and it's no brainer to think so because Pau Gasol is injured in the semis and can't play in the finals and he is the main man of the Spanish Squad but the result of the game is opposite to what many have expected, Spain dominated and dumped Argentina on that game. Argentina should have remember that moment and make that a motivation on this game today.

I am betting for Argentina (already had) as for me nobody has the edge. This might be a close game so i am putting some amount on the +5.5 handicap just in case. Good luck to us.

There were so many upset results in this tournament so far and it will be a great end to the tournament if there is another upset in the finals as well. None of the gambling sites are having odds in favor of Argentina, but their predictions were proved wrong many times. Both the teams are in great form, but Argentina has shown better team bonding and resilience so far.
6055  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 14, 2019, 11:46:17 AM
Well both of the teams had their chances and India bowlers really bowled well to get Bangladesh all out at 101. Seeing India U19 cricket team bowling performance and commitment, you can say that Indian future of cricket is very bright.

Surprising... I didn't found any of the Indian bowlers that threatening. Even the guy who rocked the Bangladesh top order (Akash Singh) looked ordinary for me. Atharva Ankolekar picked out 5 wickets, but I couldn't find much variety in his bowling. Perhaps I am comparing the current U-19 team with the one we had two years back. Back then, India had two world class pacers - Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi.
6056  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounties keeps getting worse on: September 14, 2019, 11:39:45 AM
If someone wants to make posts here and increase his merit/activity levels, then there is nothing wrong in displaying one of the bounty signatures. But the user should do that without any expectation. The chances that he may get any form of reward from that bounty program is very low. So just take it as a lottery. If you are lucky, then you may get some reward.
6057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 14, 2019, 10:44:17 AM
Anyone watched the Ind vs Ban one day Asia Cup U19 today ?

India just pulled a match and cup out of the hands of the Bangladesh. Bangladesh bowled really well to restrict India at 106 But unfortunately  they could not bat well and they fail to chase this small title.

Yeah.. in India the match was live on Star Sports 1 and I watched the second innings. It was a very exciting match, and could have been good for the game if Bangladesh could win the trophy. They just needed 107 to win, but fell short by 5 runs. This is the problem with these inexperienced teams. Even if they have very good chance of winning, they throw away their chances.
6058  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-08-27] Craig Wright loses Kleiman case—billions in Bitcoin awarded to Klei on: September 14, 2019, 10:33:15 AM
We have people who believe that the earth is flat. And there are tens of millions (or even hundreds of millions) who don't believe in the theory of evolution. When we have such low IQ people in this planet, it is not very surprising for me to find sizable number of individuals who would believe that the criminal Craig Wright is the real Satoshi Nakamoto.
1000% agree on what you had said which no matter how many or majority would think up the same there would always be those dumb persons who do believe in him.

It is a deadly combination of lack of information and lack of intelligence. Bitcoin is a relatively new asset, as it is just 10 years old. So naturally we can't expect a lot of people to have a good amount of knowledge about it. And provided the huge amount of propaganda available in the social media which favors Craig Wright, I am not surprised on seeing so many people supporting him.
6059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Replace Gold! Here's Why... on: September 14, 2019, 10:27:50 AM
Debating in the topic is making me believe that Bitcoin and Gold will both be occupying their own small niches in society. Most normal, working people won't be buying Bitcoin, or Gold, because most normal, working people don't save to invest with their salaries.

In my country (India), gold is the most popular form of investment asset (perhaps along with land). Gold is not very volatile and not much paperwork is needed for purchasing gold coins or jewelry. On the other hand, in case you want to purchase equities, ETFs or mutual funds, then you need a demat account and filing tax returns may also get complicated.
6060  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dan Pena - Bitcoin will go down to zero !!! on: September 14, 2019, 10:20:53 AM
If he knows who is behind, then what prevents him from proving that in the public? During the past 10 years, hundreds of fraudsters have claimed of being Satoshi Nakamoto and none of them were able to give any evidence for their claim. That said, even if anyone establishes himself as the real Satoshi Nakamoto, I don't think that it can have a huge impact on the exchange rates. Bitcoin is a decentralized asset, and Satoshi Nakamoto no longer controls it.
