It's not so much when Bitcoin will hit $100, but when $100 is only worth 1 BTC.

First it's Red Coats, then Rebels, then Japs (Nazis weren't enough to go to war), then Commies, then Terrorists. If you want to find your enemy, look in the mirror. If you want to change the world, then do something. Bitcoin is not a bad start.

I'm not saying it's bad because it uses energy, I'm saying it's bad because it's not secure (he who controls the hardware and/or money controls the money) and it only encourages wastefulness when it is not absolutely necessary. Every tx fee or every amount of demurrage is going to have to be paid for again and again and again. But getting around that is more complicated than switching to an account ledger, I think.
Having a paper backup does not make your money less secure. Paper, electronic, and brain wallets all work together to provide the ultimate security. The only thing I don't like about paper wallets is the current single address. There isn't a good way to encrypt them to prevent theft. Paper wallets will greatly benefit from multisig.

Paper stock certificates are kind of dated.
There are plenty of paper everything. There is even a paper Bitcoin Magazine. Paper isn't going away any time soon.

This isn't a bad idea for GLBSE. For a small fee you could issue GLBSE stock certificates Casascius style with the holo-sticker and pay dividends to them. You could trade them in the real world, at least where it is legal.
Paying dividends to them is an interesting feature.... If you want to make them real fancy, come up with a super cheap bitcoincard type watch only wallet that displays the value of the stock with no battery needed.

It would be great if Bitcoin would become legal tender in certain US states that have also made gold legal tender. This way BTC and Gold are interchangeable.

I definitely would like to join but I am not a good speaker, does it open to public? I would like to help if I can.
The OP left contact info for a potential speaker. It looks like anyone can attend. The fee is about $1000 for a one day pass and about $3k for a three day pass.

If you voted for >30 I have a bridge to sell you. LOL I think it will be on target for ~12 USD, if it makes ~30 at the end of the year I will be cashing out.
Here's the thing: right now Bitcoin isn't useful for anything mainstream that can't be done even better by PayPal. It's not that it can't be, it just that nothing is developed yet. The first major mainstrem adoption of Bitcoin as a replacement for credit cards or PP will put Bitcoin on the map. You may be right in the fact that nothing will be developed even by the end of year, but I am optimistic that something will. Maybe even Matthew will come out with something legit.

just watch a new all time high coming up
This prediction you make is based on? Given the multiple adaption vectors that are in active development, I'm predicting $300 by the end of year. That's if even just one of them launches successfully.

Unless I misunderstand this aspect of quantum mechanics, there is a "spooky action-at-a-distance" called entanglement that may one day allow for FTL data something like "sub-space" communications. Perhaps an intergalactic blockchain already exists for those miners equipped with the latest quantum computers with Photon-Net modems.

thank you I'm glad my work is finally gaining traction in this community. I appreciate your contribution, but I ask that in the future all donations be made in amounts evenly divisible by 420 Satoshis, for my convenience and yours
I'm probably going to regret this, but what do you call a unit of 420 Satoshis?

I recommend using just regular printer checks. You can even print the public key where the bank routing numbers would go. Blank check security paper

Ccorrect me if I'm wrong, heh. Scrypt is slow. It is way slower than BItcoin. It is also power intensive. It costs much more electricity than Bitcoin just to generate a hash. Are these facts correct?

IMHO If the problems to scale up bitcoin are resolved, Bitcoin will continue to grow. Also the price will go up.
UNTIL It grows so much that governments see It as a threat and kill the whole thing.
But, there is an opportunity to make a ”ton” of money while It lasts.
I would love It if this becomes the next reserve currency, but there is no Way countries will allow It.
They would kill the entire internet or even the Electric grid before they allow this.
They will beat their chests and rattle sabres. They may even hold kangaroo courts, but they will not be able to stop this reformation movement of the money supply. No longer will a king's face be required to bless our bread.

OK I'll stop the snark and I'm not against the idea of litecoin. I hope to learn more about it. Whether or not it's just another alternate crypcoin remains to be seen. The scrypt protocol seems secure, but I'm not so sure this won't have even greater obstacles to scalability in the future than Bitcoin due to the hardware requirements. A hardware based encryption seems like it it can be exploited by hardware manufacturers even more so than Bitcoin which uses a simple encryption method.

The problem isn't with litecoin, it's the fact that no cryptocurrency will replace Bitcoin. It will take a monumental leap in usefulness to oust Bitcoin. Even if a billionaire were to build custom designed chips for litecoin and get every bank in America to become miners for litecoin, Bitcoin would grow faster in popularity because it is the original. It is the Levis Jeans, the Coca-cola, the Ford-don't-need-no-bailout, of original crypcoin. Litecoin will always be Pepsi at best.
Just like MySpace is so much more popular than Facebook bcuz it was the original? Lol Myspace was a service not a commodity. Wrong analogy. If Myspace had launched an IPO and took their business model seriously, there may never have been a FaceBook IPO. Oh so you're saying that it has to be a commodity in order for it to apply? How is being a commodity have anything to do with how YOU mentioning something being an original implies it will get more attention??? Wrong basis! lol You can't argue with that. I'm not hating on litecoin. The market cap on litecoin is fantastically successful. I can't wait until someone buys pizza with it! CPUs are here forever and computers will never change! Litecoin is AWESOME!!!!
