I think it is fairly obvious that the imagination scores are grossly overstated.

You should have some consideration for junior members who need to rank up. I came here to look for posts to award with merits, and I find rubbish threads which obscure the important ones. I haven't awarded any merits so far, and I'm giving up until tomorrow now.

I think the merit system is brilliant. It has got rid of some of the crap postings, but not enough in my opinion. I'm still having to put people like the OP on ignore.

Why don't you take your own advice, or don't you have any original content?

I suggest you enter it yourself, and try to spare us having to read threads like this whilst you try to rank up.

I think you should move this thread to the meta board - that's where many of the other repetitive threads about merit are located.
This board is for serious discussions, and not for people to rehash repeated ideas in the hope of receiving merit.

It has been suggested that I post my recently created alt in this thread, so here we go.

I created Talk Merit because I was a bit fed up with all the postings that Jet Cash was making with regard to merit, Two months after its implementation, there still seems to be a lot of confusion about it, and its interaction with activity, and I decided that I would create some pages to explain this. I thought it better to put these on a separately hosted site because it seems that most new members don't read threads. I wanted Merit Talk, but the domain name was already taken, so I had to use Talk Merit. I own both of the domains that I use - JetCash.com and TalkMerit.com. I also own upr8.com, and I had planned to use that to experiment with product branding, but I've decided to use that for a more general site about upranking membership levels on a variety of forums. I'm moving the product branding onto Boasta.com, and this is a fairly easy task as the site has only minimal changes from the default template. Merit looks as if it will be an ongoing topic here, and I am relieved that Jet Cash can distance itself from it. Jet Cash will continue to award sMerits, but is unlikely to comment about it - Talk Merit can do that if it is required.

I hope you guys are sympathetic to my creation of Talk Merit, and that you see it as a positive act to help the forum. I'm working on a 3 part paper on merits as implemented at Bitcoin Talk, and will post the link when I have a product with which I feel comfortable,

If somebody is abusing the merit system by awarding merit when they shouldn't, it doesn't matter where they got the merit, just report them.
